Trouble manipulating text in PSE9

Running PSE9 under Mac OS X 10.6.8.
There are some things I've forgotten about working with straightforward black-on-white text entry.
1) While doing text entry, the entire document turns pink, and keystrokes generate white text. When I accept it with a green check, it changes to moving diagonal shadows and it doesn't solidify until I save it.
(I had inserted a .jpg file here showing an example of the problem, but it disappeared when I posted the article.)
2) If by some lucky keystroke it settles down, I don't seem to be able to get back into the text box to edit its contents; i.e. correct typos, change font size, etc.
I'd appreciate any sympathetic help.

We've finally got it licked, thanks to you guys. The image mode I had was Bitmap. When I went in to change it, the only other choice I had was grayscale -- the others were all dimmed -- so I checked that. When I went in a second time, nothing was dimmed so I chose RGB color.
Layers started working for me, giving me the versatility that I needed.
I discovered that there's a great difference between the foreground/background colors and the font color!
Finally (you're not going to believe this!) I was having trouble editing text because I was green-checking the text box before I tried the text work!
The thing is, I knew all this stuff at one time, but I'm out of practice, and my memory is shot. What do you expect? I turned 78 last week.

Is it one of those with a little moving/rotating ball on the bottom of it? Have you ever taken that out and cleaned it and the area holding it? It could be dust/dirt in there. I always used a QTip slightly moistened with alcohol.

Has anyone had trouble manipulating Nikon D750 raw image (NEF) in Aperture (version 3.6 500021000000000.3, Digital Camera RAW 6.0 - Build 761.5, Digital Camera RAW support 6000 - Build 136.1)
I used to be able to manipuplate Nikon Raw (NEF) images from a Nikon D70 and D3200 using Aperture, until the 70 died and the 3200 was stolen about 18 months ago. Recently I did two things: (1) I upgraded OS X to Yosemite and (2) purchased a Nikon D750. I have successfully imported NEF files from the camera to Aperture, but the images do not render/ cannot be opened/ manipulated. Instead, I see a black thumbnail for each imported image with a cassette recorder play icon in the center of each image.
I can view the NEF image in Finder preview mode, either directly when viewing the images on the camera SD card or after exporting the previously imported NEF image from Aperture to my desktop or user folder. Previously imported NEF image seem unaffected.

The current Apple OSX 10.10 Yosemite and the current Aperture version 3.6 do not have support yet for importing Nikon d750 nef/raw files. It usually takes Apple six to eight weeks to release a new digital camera raw update file for new Nikon dslr models. Once that digital camera raw update file is finally released, update your current version of Aperture and that will allow you to import your d750 raw files. In the meantime, you have many workarounds. In my opinion, the easiest is to save images in duplicate nef/raw and jpeg image files to your SD cards.
And for now, just import the jpegs to Aperture 3.6 from your d750. Process your jpegs in Aperture - and hope your clients are happy with the jpegs and can wait for later nef/raw image processing. Be sure to save and do not erase your original SD cards that include the nef/raw and jpeg files - then when Aperture finally releases a new digital camera raw file update that includes the d750 - just insert your original camera SD cards into the computer platform and import the old d750 nef/raw files and edit/process them.
There are many other ways to proceed in the interim as well. You can always import your d750 nef/raw images into Lightroom (if it has been updated to convert the d750 nef files) and process them there. But for the time being, if you can afford to save and hold onto your original SD cards and wait for the inevitable Aperture digital camera raw update, this is a very easy and simple way to proceed.

I know that this would concern me just the same and we want to make sure that your device is connected and receiving these notifications when available. How long have you been having this issue? Are you receiving a specific error message when sending a message? Are you aware if this happens in one location specifically or everywhere you go? Does the issue with messaging occur with all numbers? Share some details, so that we may assist.

She turned imessage off, then turned it back on again and now it seems to be fine. Not sure what she did, but she says she's ok now.

Trouble selecting text

I've never had trouble selecting text by moving the cursor to the beginning of the text and holding down the "mouse" and scrolling down to the end of the area to be copied, pressing the command button + c and voila! But tonight, the spooks have come and won't let me go directly to anything that is about 6 double spaced lines from the bottom of the page and then wants to put some light sepia colored box. I'm working on my dissertation and I don't need this trouble. PLEASE, PLEASE help me figure out if I've accidentally set something wrong. I need answers ASAP.

While it's readable, export your document as Word and as RTF so you will have ways to revive it if needed.
Try to export it as Pages '08
then open the new Pages '08 document in Pages '09 in hope that the transcoding will clean the odd behavior.
You may also try to open the doc in an other user account. If it behaves well, you will know that something is corrupted in your current account.
Most of the time it's the Preferences file :
Macintosh HD:Users:<userAccount>:Library:Preferences:com.apple.iWork.Pages.plist
Quit Pages
drag the preferences file on the Desktop
Restart Pages.
If it behave flawlessly, the problem was in the prefs. Continue to work with the newly created prefs file.
If nothing change, move the preferences file back in it original location to retrieve your original settings.

On each devoce Look at
Settings > Messages > Send and receive from
Make sure these settings are correct.
Then look at MMS in the same area. Male sure MMS is turned on and check to ensure your carrier included MMS in your cellular plan.

Having trouble receiving texts

I am an iPhone fanboy I will admit but the recent occurrence possible missing texts is causing me to question my Apple Preference. I seem to be having the most trouble receiving texts from Verizon customers as a friend the other day inquired as to why I never respond to his texts. I fear the answer is because I do not get them in the first place.
Is anyone experiencing any similar problems?

I had a similar problem with pics from Verizon customers.
The person sending me the pics updated his Verizon software and all was fine.

Manipulating Text Files

I have about 100 text log files generated by SQLLDR. Each log file has a number of successful and rejected records denoted in the file. I want to extract this information out from each file. Beside from opening each file up and looking at each file manuanlly, I want to use PERL or something else to automatically read each file and extract only the information I want. I can then use this information and insert it into a table.
Is there a tool I can use to manipulate(extract) textual information and append all the extracted information into one text file or maybe insert into a table. Thanks in advance.

What about loading it as it is with sqlloader and then manipulating it with sql ?

I have only recently begun working with XML and the DOM. I have
begun writng a small app to upload XML data to a database using
the version 2 parser. I am having trouble getting at the content
of text nodes ( for example the "Stan" in <name>Stan</name> ). I
have tried using the getNodeValue() function,and casting to a
XMLText and the getData() function. I know I am at the correct
node because I have used to the getNodeName() function to
generate a list of nodes as I work my way through the document
from the root. What am I missing?

You need to use the getNodeValue() method against the text node
associated with the element node of interest not the element
node itself. If this doesn't help, please post a code sample and
the XML file.

Nokia 6630 trouble sending text messages

im having trouble with my nokia 6630 it wont send text messages it just keeps saying general:memory full. close some applications and try again.
i have done this and it still didnt work so i completely deleted everything off my phone restored it to factory settings and reformated memory card and rebooted and tried again but it still will not send and gives exact same message i can receive messages no problems and also use it to call its just sending messages i have a problem with can anybody help plz

Trouble sending text messages to a non-iphone

I've tried several times to send a text to a friend who does not have an iphone and the text is sent back to me with an error message. The error stages that I am not using a valid 10 digit number. It is the correct number and I am using the area code. My friend has sent texts to me and I get them with no problem. When I try to reply to the message, I get the error message again. I have other friends who do not have iphones and I have no trouble messaging them. Any ideas of how to fix this?

It sounds like you are unable to message a certain contact on your phone because it gives you an error message. I would use these troubleshooting from the following article named:

If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, back up or forward important messages and delete your current messaging threads with the contact. Create a new message to the contact and try again.
If the issue occurs with a specific contact or contacts, delete and recreate the contact in the Contacts app. Create a new message to the newly created contact and try again.
If those two steps do not resolve the issue, then use the troubleshooting in the article for the type of messages you are sending whether it be iMessage, MMS, or SMS to help isolate the issue further.
