Trouble moving iPhone to new MacBook Pro

Hi everyone,
I have recently bought my first Apple computer - a new MacBook Pro. I moved my iPhone from my old PC by copying the 'itunes' folder from it onto the new MacBook Pro (and de-authorising old PC).
But I am having a few problems - most importantly, my iPhone isn't installing updates to apps properly. What happens is I hit 'install' and it begins to install. But then it doesn't complete the install. It says something about not having the app on the phone. So I have turned it off and on again and found that the app will then appear on the screen but not in the folder it used to be in - not sure whether it has updated or not...
Sorry if that's not very clear. Would be very grateful for any help or advice...
Thanks,
Nick

You can Download it from- Download CS4 products and than you can install it on your Mac.

iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the library.

  • IPhone with new MacBook Pro - phone not recognized by iTunes

So, I got a new MacBook Pro and connected my iPhone to sync it with iTunes. But the iPhone isn't being recognized.
Anyone know what steps to take to get it to recognize the phone to sync? There are no error messages. Just a phone that doesn't seem to want to sync.
I checked the phone by plugging it into another lap top, and it gets recognized right away, so I'm thinking it's related to the latest iTunes or the MacBook Pro.
    Thanks!

Went to the Genius Bar, The tech decised it was a bad logic board. I got a new computer to replace a week old one. After going through setting it up again, I have the same issue. System Profiler sees that an iPhone is connected, but not iTunes. I can not sync to the new MBP. At the moment, I am syncing to my old MBP, just so I have the iPhone set up as I had it.
BTW, if you go through the "iTunes does not see iPhone" suggestions and enter DFU (restore mode) your iPhone gets bricked. But it is recoverable by using a different computer. I am currently trying a NEW install of the OS on the i7, but I suspect a hardware/driver interaction problem. I have no hopes until 10.6.4 arrives in a month or so.

  • Syncing multiple iPhones to new macbook pro

My wife and I both have iPhones which we sync to our work computers. We have both purchased different apps, and music, but also have a lot of the same music in each of our iTunes. I just bought a new macbook pro – which we are both going to sync to from now on – What's the best way to do this?
If i set up 2 user accts, do we have to duplicate all of our shared music in both accounts? I dont want to lose any paid apps or music.

    Hi Dan,
Its just a matter of preference.
You can create a single user account and sync specific playlists from iTunes, groups from Address Book, and certain calendars from iCal to the specific iPhone. You can also create another user account and sync all music and video from iTunes, along with all contacts and calendars.
The iPhone can sync and merge contacts, calendars, bookmarks and notes on multiple computers and user accounts, as described here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1296
If you decide to create separate user accounts, this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1203 will walk you through sharing your music between different user accounts on the same computer.

  • Moved to a new MacBook Pro

I just bought a new macbook pro and moved my aperture library over using a vault I had for backup. The only problem is that it also restored all of the thumbnails of pictures that I have deleted. The thumbnail has a picture and says unable to locate master. How do I delete all of the thumbnails? I all ready did the rebuild of the library and all it did was mess up all of my events and projects and put everything in one folder. Thanks in advance!

New laptop box, good time to reconfigure to a *Referenced Masters Library*. Since you are having problems transferring, consider converting to Referenced Masters before moving to the new box. The Library will suddenly become a civilized size.
Originals should be backed up before import into Aperture or any other app anyway. A Managed-Masters-Library not only gets itself overly large, having Masters in Vaults just makes Vaults huge and Vault backups slower, and therefore less likely to be done as frequently. Also any time one is dealing with a huge digital chunk (like a Managed-Masters Vault) it is much more likely to be problematic than a small digital chunk would be.

  • IPhone with new MacBook Pro

Just purchased new MacBook Pro. Can't find NEW firewire cables in local stores. I want to sync my iPhone to new MBP. How do I do this without losing all music and contacts?

Do you have a BestBuy with an Apple Store in a Store? If so, look back by the Apple booth - otherwise you may not find one elsewhere. I'm ordering a few extra's from http://www.monoprice.com
I want to sync my iPhone to new MBP. How do I do this without losing all music and contacts?
As Kappy pointed out, when you go to sync your iPhone it will prompt you on what you want to do - if you read the screens closely you won't loose anything. Move your iTunes over to to your new computer (either with the migration assistant or manually) before syncing and you won't have any issues with your music.

  • Syncing ipad and iphone to new macbook pro

I have a pre-intel tower mac that the iphone and ipad are currently synced to.
I want to sync them both now to my new macbook pro. I am unsure about syncing in general as I haven't done it myself yet.
I'm a little worried about loosing data, and wondering what happens to the old tower they are currently synced with.. can I not longer sync them to it once they are synced to the MAcbook pro?
    any tips will be helpful.

Connect to the MacBook. It will ask you if you want to sync with the MacBook. It should then ask if you want to save what is on the iPad. Tell it yes, and it should do so. You should have your iPad apps backed up anyway, but I am pretty sure that you do not lose anything by transferring to another machine. The iPad does not care if it was a Mac or PC that it is synced with, it is not in either format. You do need to go and authorize your Macbook on your iTunes account.
Besides there is a step by step instruction on [How to transfer or sync iPad contents to Mac|http://www.softwarebbs.com/wiki/Howto_transfer_or_sync_iPad_contents_toMac].
Hope it can do you a favor.

  • Moving to the new Macbook pro?

I bought a new macbook pro and I'm planning the migration of files to the new machine.  What is the best method, with the old pro having firewire and the new one having thunderbolt? I have a lot of files, so I want it to be as speedy as possible. Maybe the firewire to thunderbolt adapter? Thanks for any adivce!

No, but the Ethernet adaptor may be available now. You would have to check up on that. Otherwise, you can do wireless if your Time Machine backup device supports wireless.
You can always get an external USB drive on which you can make a backup of your Home folder, then transfer to the new computer. However, if you do this be sure your admin account on the new computer has the exact same username as on the old computer.

  • Need to get photos and music from iphone to new macbook pro

I gave my old macbook pro to my daughter and bought a new one. However, i need to find out how to get my music, photos, etc from my iphone onto my new computer. When I try to sync i get the message my iphone contents will be erased and replaced with computer's content. Help!

Photos can be offloaded to any computer. If a computer does not have iTunes installed, it treats the iPhone as a camera and gives an option to save the photos.
Anyway, photo's aren't synced are they. They are always stored on the iPhone and never a part of a backup.

  • Transfer all music from iphone to new macbook pro

I would like to transfer all my songs from my iphone which was sync with a PC to my new macbook book pro, i have transfered all the itunes purchased songs but cannot transfer all the other songs. I have transfered all contacts etc... to the new macbook, but no joy with the remaining songs. can anyone help?

The conventional way to do this would be to just grab the songs from the PC where they originated. However, if you'd rather pull them directly from the iPhone, you'll need a 3rd party tool such as PhoneView. I hope this helps!

  • Help syncing iphone to new MacBook Pro

I got a MacBook Pro for Christmas, and I need help syncing my iPhone to it without losing my pictures, contacts, and music. I already wirelessly shared my iTunes library to from my old mac to the new one. Is there a way to sync my phone to the new computer and transfer my pictures and contacts and the rest of the stuff on my phone to it without losing it all? Or since I wirelessly shared my iTunes library, will my back up still be available?

There is no phone number for itunes store support.
Just copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to the new one.
You can also transfer itunes purchases from the iphone to the computer.  Without syncing:  File>Transfer Purchases

  • ICal not syncing from existing iPhone to new macbook pro hard drive

    Hi everyone,
Can anyone help? I have just had the Hard drive on my Macbook Pro (mid 2009) replaced and I have then restored all previous hard drive content and settings from my time machine. Everything transferred across with no problem except that when I came to sync my iPhone with my computer, everything else will sync except for iCal.
iCal on my computer currently has the same calenders but with nothing in them. I want to be able to sync my iPhone calenders with my Macbook calenders so that the information gets transferred accross to my Macbook.
I have tried adjusting the sync settings in itunes and I have tried backing up and restoring my iphone to see if I could force the computer into recognising my iPhone ical files but to no avail. I am now stuck and could really do with some advice.....
    Thanks

  • Transfer iTunes from iPhone onto new MacBook Pro...?

Many of my songs are...well, all of them are...not strictly speaking, downloaded from iTunes. Most of them I downloaded from mediafire, 4shared, etc...I recently purchased a MacBook Pro, and I'm trying to transfer all of my music that I downloaded onto my iPhone onto my MacBook, but it seems that syncing it won't do the task - either because the music is not back up on iTunes, or simply because of the way that the iPhone is configured (it has a different syncing process than a regular iPod). I looked up some answers on Google, but all of them require me to download programs, and I'm not sure I want to put my computer at that sort of risk. Is there an easy solution to this problem?
    Thanks,
    Paula

  • I am facing random troubles on my spanking new MacBook Pro 17".

    Hello!
I recently bought an Apple MacBook Pro 17" and I am facing a few problems every now and then:
    1. Sometimes, clicking on the trackpad with two fingers stops invoking the right-click function and it only starts doing so on the next reboot.
    2. Sometimes, the 'Shut Down...' and 'Log Out...' functions stop working and I have to take the battery out to switch the notebook off.
    3. The RAM usage is mind-boggling. The Apple authorised reseller I purchased my notebook from was against the idea of installing the extra one gigabyte of RAM saying that I would not actually need it but I still had it installed. Now that I am using the laptop regularly, I think that my notebook would have practically been rendered unusable had I not stuck in the extra module. After just about thirty minutes of usage, the memory usage shoots past 1GB. Is there some problem with my notebook?
    4. When the machine starts using more than 1.5GB of RAM, it slows down considerably and the animations start stuttering.
    5. If someone starts fiddling with my Apple remote and presses two-three buttons simultaneously, the machine stops responding and I again have to pop my battery out.
    6. Front Row seems very unstable. It is quite slow at times and stops responding quite often (though it does resume after a minute or two).
Is it a possibility that I might have been given a duplicate notebook, or one that has been tampered with? If yes, what is the solution? If not, then why is a Mac (which has a reputation of never hanging and restarting, etc.) giving me all this trouble?
Apple MacBook Pro 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   Added an extra gigabyte of RAM.

    7. When my notebook is connected to the power supply and I am in contact with it and my feet aren't touching the ground, anyone who touches my elbow receives a shock. If I run my hand along someone's skin, I get a strange throbbing feeling, similar to the feeling I get when running my hand along the body of my MBP while it is connected to a power source. It's wierd.
Can anyone please help me out? PLEASE!

  • Can't move contacts from iPhone to new MacBook Pro

    Hi,
my father-in-law has an iPhone 3G which he's used with his PC without a problem. I finally convinced him to buy a MacBook Pro (which he did today) and we've been unable to move the contacts from the iPhone to the laptop. The phone is connected to iTunes and all looks normal but when we select "contacts" to be synced to the laptop and then click apply, nothing happens. Tried to sync it, the phone and iTunes say "syncing" but the contacts are not showing up in the laptop's address book - very embarassing. I'm assuming it's something I'm doing wrong but I can't for the life of me find an answer.
Any help would be hugely appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Ole

Before you connect your phone to the mac, you should make sure that auto sync when a phone or ipod is connected is NOT CHECKED in preferences for itunes.
Once you've authorized the account, you should then transfer your purchased apps & music to itunes from your phone.
You do that by going up to file, select transfer purchases made on this ipod to this computer. All of your purchased apps & music will be transferred, music you ripped on your own or photos will not be, you'll have to restore those from a backup.
If you already have contacts in your address book, you should have received the merge prompt when you synced. Are you sure in itunes you have the contact tab checked?
