Trouble opening an autorecovered file
Hi,
I am having trouble opening an autorecovered file. It is an ASD file but when I try to open it using Word, I get an "unsupported file" error message. I tried to copy it and open it elsewhere, but cannot open it.
Thanks!
Try to open and repair the ASD format file through Word File > Open > Computer > Open and repair
If it still doesn't work, it means the ASD file is also corrupted. Try the suggestion in the following article:

Please Help? Having trouble opening camera raw files. Already downloaded Camera Raw update. I have a pc.
If the camera is fairly new then the version of ACR you have with CS5 won't be able to read those file. You'll need to upgrade to a newer version of Photoshop or use Lightroom 5.
Once a new version of Photoshop comes out Adobe does not support updating ACR from the older version of PS. -

I am having trouble opening .nef raw files from a nikon d800 in elements 9.
I have tried to update ACR to the latest version but can not tell if this has been successful
I just get the message "wrong type of file"For the D800 you have two alternatives:
(1) Upgrade to PSE 11. (2) Download and install the free Adobe DNG converter to convert your raw files to the Adobe universal Raw format and the files will open in all versions of PSE (keep your originals as backups and for use in the camera manufactures software)
Windows download click here DNG Converter 7.3
Mac download click here DNG Converter 7.3
You can convert a whole folder of raw images in one click. See this quick video tutorial:

Trouble Opening PNGs - Unknown file type
I found this topic already on this board (a post from 2002)
but there was no usable answer.
I am using Fireworks 8 (8.0.0.777) on Windows. I have
troubles opening old pngs I created. When opening some files I get
the error message "unknown file type".
The file can be opened via photoshop or irfanview, but all
data is flat on only one layer - so this is not a solution.
It seems that the file is damaged - rebuilding the whole file
would be a lot of work. This problems occurs from time to time with
different pngs.
All files are saved on a server via our network. But this
problem occurs only with pngs and no other file-types, so I don't
think that this is a network problem.
Thanks in advance, MalteThe AD wrote:

Have the files been moved?

Hi nab5340,
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions! After you have created a back up, you can't view the files you backed up with any Nokia program. If you use some other program to open the backup file, it is your own responsibility if something happens to the back up.
Here are the instructions how the backup process goes. You can find the path to the backup file in Nokia Suite by going to Tools > Options > Devices.
Hope this answered your question.

Trouble opening mpeg movie files and importing into iMovie 08
Hi, I'd be most grateful if anyone could provide any solutions to the following problem...
A friend has emailed me two .mpeg movie files which are parts 1&2 of a home movie which I want to edit in iMovie and burn to DVD. The footage was shot on a miniHDV camcorder (not sure which brand).
Opening in QT 7.6 gives the following warning dialogue: "The movie could not be opened. The file is not a movie file."
The files will however play fine in VLC Media Player, but not in mpeg Streamclip (the file appears to play but the viewer is blank with no audio/video). Trying to import into iMovie is unsuccessful. The iMovie browser won't let me choose the files or drag/drop.
Any ideas. I read somewhere that iMovie 08 can't import mpeg-1 files. Do I need to convert the files, and if so how?
Thanks in advance, and apologies - this is my first experience of video editing.I have QT Player but it hasn't "kicked in" when I try to import my videos.
Something called PIXE VRF Browser is supposed to help in the conversion. The QT MPEG-2 thingy won't install until I buy QT Pro, according to what I get on the screen.
Sounds like you have too many applications trying to do the same thing. Either use the Pixela Pixe VRF Browser or use the Mac applications (Mac OS Finder, Apple QT MPEG-2 Playback Component w/MPEG Streamclip) but not both to do the same job. The Apple Finder should be able to copy multiplexed VOB/MPEG-2 files from either your PC burned DVD or directly from your camcorder DVD to your MAC hard drive where MPEG Streamclip/QT MPEG-2 component can convert them for use in iMovie '08. Frankly, I don't understand your work work flow or why you want to import your files to a GOP editor in the first place if your goal is to do frame level editing in iMovie '08.
As for Jon's suggestion, I am on dial-up and cannot download big files at 3-4 Kbps snail pace.
What does this have to do with importing your camcorder files to your PC and re-burning them to DVD for use on your Mac? If I were to make a recommendation here, it would have been to use an external hard drive here rather than DVDs for transporting files between platforms and then only if you want the files available to both. If your goal is only to edit them in iMovie '08 or iMovie HD on your Mac, then why not cut out the "middleman" platform?
I wish I could purchase these updates on DVDs but the genies couldn't even tell me if there's such a service.
Totally confused here. Are you saying your DVR-D300 files were commercial produced or that you are dealing with torrent downloads of copy-written material? These are two separate issues with facets beyond the scope of this forum.
As for "platform", I have iMovie08. iMac does not read the mini RAM disks when I connect the camera to a USB port.
Are you saying the Finder doesn't read them or that iMovie '08 doesn't read them? Do you "finalize" your DVDs before trying to read them via USB as the manual states may be necessary as indicated on page 150 of your manual?
How can I find out that iMovie09 will let me import and edit my Panasonic videos?
You could try going to the Apple site and checking the the tapeless camcorder compatibility chart. The Panasonic DVR-D300 is specifically listed along with a hot link for additional information. However, this still won't help you you don't finalize the content. -
Does anyone else have trouble opening Autocad dwg files in Illustrator CS4?
When I try to open some .dwg files from Autocad I get the message " Version of this LPF file is not supported" Can anyone help with this? Does the problem lie with the (autocad) sender or with Illustrator? Stumped and needing to get on with work!

Having trouble opening Crystal Report files from a document library
I am trying to open Crystal Report .rpt files from a document library in either the native, client Crystal Reports software or in Crystal Reports Viewer. When I add the Crystal Report files to a document library and attempt to open them SharePoint displays
a prompt asking me to save the file locally instead of opening the file. I have done a lot of research online and found several sites discussing similar scenarios, however, I have not been able to get these solutions to work. Here is a short list of sites
I have referenced for possible solutions:
http://naadydev.blogspot.com/2013/03/crystal-report-viewer-sharepoint-2010.html?showComment=1383339860122

http://www.codeproject.com/Articles/42731/Crystal-Reports-WebPart-for-SharePoint
Here are the steps I have done to try to get the .rpt files to open:
Added the Crystal Report extension .rpt as a MIME type
Installed the Visual Studio 2012 Crystal Reports Viewer toolbar
Installed the 64-bit Crystal Reports runtime
I have also created a solution file based off the Code Project site which partially works, but not quite right. In this project I have created a document library called "Crystal Reports rpt Files" and deployed the solution file to a site. When
I open the Web Part Maintenance Toolbar I can see the selected .rpt file in the drop-down, but no Crystal Report file is displayed on the page itself.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Does anyone have experience working with Crystal Reports and SharePoint 2013 (or earlier versions) that could lend some advice?
Thank you,

Trouble opening downloaded class files
Hello,
I am trying to add a simple scroller to my website, however when I download the class files Dreamweaver automatically tries to open them and they are jibberish. What program do I use to open these files?
ThanksYou should either use the classes as-is in your own program/applet according to the documentation, or you should be looking for the source (.java) files for those classes. Compiled classes can't be opened into something understandable by humans (unless you decompile them).

Trouble opening a pdf file on my macbook air
I am trying to open a pdf attachment that was sent to me. I am opening it on my macbook air but it says it is not supported. Can anyone help?
I would probably delete it first (I think there is an uninstaller) and then download the latest version from Adobe.

Trouble opening iMovie Quicktime file
Hello,
I recently upgraded from FCE to FCP. I have just attempted to import a Quicktime movie created in iMovie to FCP. This always worked fine in FCE, but now once it is imported, if i try to do anything with it, whether I want to put it in the timeline or simply play it in the viewer, it gives me warnings saying "General Error" and "Error: Out of Memory." Does anyone know what's going on with this?Patrick,
Are you talking about importing "clips" captured in iMovie or a .MOV that you exported from iMovie? As long as you export your movie as NTSC you should have no problem, I do it all the time.
You can also drag "clips" which were captured via iMovie directly into the PCP browser. You'll have to render the audio though - if you don't need the audio just delete it and get to work.
good luck

Trouble opening .mogg file
I'm having trouble opening a .mogg file , I get this error : " We were unable to open this file using any of the currently available importers . It's either corrupt or using an unsupported format " . I wasn't able to figure out exactly what the problem is.....plus I've been able to play the file without any issues with both VLC and Foobar2000 and opened smoothly using A*****ty. Any suggestions???
MOGG files (Multitrack OGG) are not supported at this time in Audition. I have put this request into the feature backlog recently, and will add notes about your request. You can export the individual tracks as WAV or AIFF files from Audacity to remix or edit in Audition.
