Trouble opening cs6 v17 from cs6 v16.2.1 (illustrator)

Trouble opening cs6 v17 from cs6 v16.2.1 (illustrator). Tells me that the document was v=created by a newer version and of course flattesn and groups EVERYTHING. Should I have been notified of a software update?

Ask in the AI forum and tell people what features you actually used in your artwork, what fonts, what system you are on etc.. Flattening always has a specific cause, it's not per se a file compatibility problem.

  • Opening CS3 files from CS6 InDesign

We are looking to upgrade the office from CS3 to CS6 Creative Suite. Can InDesign files from CS3 be opened in straight into CS6? If not, what is the best way to access the CS3 files from CS6?

Can they be opened directly? Yes.
Should they be? Harder to answer.
I've never had a problem with any file I created moving from an old to anew version, but we've seen reports here from other users who found converting CS3 or CS4 files to CS5 or CS5.5 seemed to be OK right up until they failed, often after extensive editing and while trying to export PDF. In general, exporting these same files from the earlier version as .inx or .idml, and opening that in the new version did not fail.
CS6 is too new to have had many similar reports, and I want to stress that these problems are probably isolated and indicate, I suspect, some underlying corruption in the original file (which might have caused failure in the original version at some point, too), but I've persaonally adopted a policy of export from the original for any file that is going to get converted. It isn't worth the risk compared to the short amount of time involved in taking precautions.

  • Having trouble opening a doc from 2001 with 9.5

    Hi,
My 9.5 won't support opening a doc from 2001... any suggestions?

You can try using an older version of Reader, but you'll have to uninstall 9.5 first... or
Download a 30 day trial of Acrobat Pro and open, then save the document, with compatibility for newer versions.

  • Anyone else having trouble opening CMYK PDFs from Photoshop CC with JPEG 'high' compression?

(Cross-post from the Photoshop forum, where I was asked to post in the Acrobat forum: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5553829 )
When I save a PDF file in Photoshop CC in CMYK color with JPEG compression (quality = high), it will save without any errors. However, when I open the file in Acrobat (11.0.3), I get an "Out of Memory" pop up error. I press Ok, and the document is just displayed as a blank white image.
I'm using Win7 64-bit, Photoshop CC 64-bit. Plenty of memory (24GB) and allocated RAM in preferences, and I've done some troubleshooting that leads me to believe the error is not due to system memory, but rather a specific bug in the software. I have Photoshop CS6 on the same machine, and if I open the PSD, save as PDF with the above settings, everything is fine when I open it using Acrobat. This seems to just be for Photoshop CC, not CS6.
Here is the troubleshooting I've done so far:
PDF format, RGB color, any other settings --> Acrobat can open the file.
PDF format, CMYK, no compression --> Acrobat can open the file.
PDF format, CMYK, JPEG compression [medium] --> Acrobat can open the file.
PDF format, CMYK, JPEG compression [high] --> Acrobat can NOT open the file because it encounters the "out of memory" error.
PDF format, CMYK, JPEG compression [maximum] --> Acrobat can open the file.
This is silly. I don't get it. Can anyone else confirm this problem for me?
    Updated:
Like you said, there isn't enough information to rule out an issue with Photoshop CC, as the same action using Photoshop CS6 results in a usable file.
New information (while making files for uploading):
The error only occurs with CMYK files of larger dimensions. On a 500x500px image, Acrobat throws out "A drawing error has occured". a 2500x2500px image runs into the "Out of memory" error. In either case, Acrobat cannot successfully open the file generated by Photoshop CC, while it can if it was made using Photoshop CS6.

The major changes for the others within the JPegs was the number of pixels (133X133) and the size (1.4inX1.4in). There is also a reduction in the number of colors.
Just for information, I opened the big JPeg in Acrobat (9.5.5) and it opened fine. However, it looks like the color space was changed as shown below:
Even if I change the input to use CMYK and not RGB, it looks like it gets converted to RGB. I haven't spent time to figure out the preflight analysis properly, but at least this may give you some info back.

  • Trouble opening .dmg file from one vendor

Occasionally I receive an update to software I own in the form of a .dmg file.
I typically double click the attachment in the email, and save it to the desktop.
Then I go to the desktop and double click that file to open it and get the updates, documentation etc. that was enclosed. From one particular respected vendor, I have been getting updates that way for years. However for the last three or so updates, when I try to open the .dmg file, I just get a -4960 error instead. (They then have emailed me another link so I can get the update via another means.)
I tried opening the image with Disk Utility also and get the same error. But going to Disk Utilities Help and searching on "-4960" gives some story about missing RAID component or something, which I think is bogus.
Any clues why a .dmg from just this one vendor is causing me grief?

I just did a Google search on "error -4960" and got 508,000 hits. Error -4960 is a Core Foundation Unknown Error. In other words it is a catch all for a problem that was detected in the core foundation and whatever the problem is the system had no way of identifying the error more explicitly.
The log file entries might help narrow down where the error is occuring. But with or without them one can only guess what the cause is. If this were happening with more than one vendor, I would suggest removing any download managers such as SpeedDownload or iGetter. Since this is occurring with the files of only one vendor, the problem has to be on their end and there are many possibilities. The fact they can come up an alternate and successful link would lead me to believe you are not the only one encountering this situation. It sounds like a situation that will have to be corrected by the "reputable vendor".

  • Trouble Opening PDFs Downloaded From Web

I have Adobe Acrobat Pro (10.1.6) for the latest Mac OSX and I can open and edit PDFs from others. But I cannot open any PDFs I download from the Web. I get the message “There was an error opening this document. The file is damaged and could not be repaired.” Any suggestions?

Trash the app and download it again.

  • Having trouble opening flash help/f1 in cs6

This is so stupid I can't get any help I need from any one I don't know what I am even doing here. I have tried to contact adobe but all they want you to do is join or become a member of their boards and that is it. I am having trouble opening flash help on cs6 and no one can help me do it. I have join all that adobe wants me to join I have done and paid out all that adobe has requested why can't I get help when I need it with their products?

sound like you try to opne flashMX2004 or flash8 foles in MX.
that wount work. An upgrade would help, or asking your source for
those flas to save then in MX format - which is not possible in
    Flash 8 though.

  • Moving from CS6 to CC (Question)

    Hi everyone,
As the title explains, I'm moving forward to upgrade my Premiere cs6 to CC.
My question is: Can I open old projects from cs6 in the new CC? Can I fully work with them, like I did on CS6?
    Thank you!

BEST PRACTICE: Complete current projects in THEIR version, and start new ones in the new version. Staffer Kevin Monahan (former life a major professional user/teacher of FCP before becoming an Adobe staffer) who frequents this forum preaches that as THE proper work-pattern in ANY NLE or video app for professional use. You gotta be able to get that work out, and though projects MAY transfer forward just fine, if they glitch up and you didn't keep the old project pristine ... you're screwed. Many people have up-graded projects without a hitch, but if you go through this forum you'll find a number that ... um ... it wasn't a happy moment. Or week. Or month.
    His basic recommendation ...
    - Any projects that will have a "final" state are worked to that state in the "old" version.
    - The newer versions can be downloaded and installed separately from the older ones ... use them for any new projects and if something or some effect doesn't like the new version, you can still run the old one.
    - Projects that are always on-going (like tv series) should be extensively tested with a COPY of you previous-version project and then ... when any issues that MAY pop up are resolved, move forward with the new version on its new project. NEVER allow the "main" copy of the old project to be modified past it's version.
    - Keep past versions on your computer, perhaps renaming the icons so you know which programs "match with each other, across the PrPr, Ae, Sg, Audition, and AME set.

  • Open Cloud InDesign in CS6

I bought CS6 outright from Adobe (for Windows). I use CC at work. My CS6 InDesign won't open CC InDesign unless I save the CC as an IDML (or whatever it's called). But that won't work for me, I need the ability to access hundred of files, not one.
Question: Does Adobe offer a solution, besides buying Cloud? Does a private developer write an app (for Windows) that will open Cloud files from CS6?

You're right, I can buy a CC subscription and the problem is solved. But Markz writes a Mac app for exactly what I'm talking about, so at least Mac users of Adobe products have a work-around. If I wanted to subscribe to CC, I would not have bought the Creative Suite outright  --  right? So now you can give me another flip response that tells me "oh, too bad" and feel satisfied.

  • Trouble Opening PDFs from IE 11

I am having trouble opening pdf documents from a website (Federal Courts Court Records website) using my laptop using Adobe Xi (Version 11.0.8), Windows 7, and Internet Explorer 7.  When I try to open pdf document, I get message "Adobe PDF Access Denied".  I have tried to turn off "Enable Protected Mode" in Security Enhanced but does not work.  I have tried allowing displayed content to eliminate the message "Only secure content is displayed" but that does not solve problem.
I can open the documents on my son's laptop which has Adobe Reader XI (Version 11.0.3)
    Help please?

What MBP? What version of OSX? What PDFs? What version of Acrobat/ Reader? So many questions...

  • Trouble opening IOS on Ml series 15454 Cards

I just recently inherited the O&M of our ONS 15454 SONET MSPP ring.  My first task was to upgrade the software to 9.2.15, which went great, no issues to report.  But now I'm having trouble opening IOS connections (from the CTC) to all of my ML Ethernet cards.  I get the following message:
    EID-1022
An IOS session cannot be opened right now with this slot.  Most likely someone else (using a different CTC) already has a session opened with this slot. Please try again later.
No one else is logged into the IOS, and this is happening to every ML card in my ring.  I can console into it directly and it allows me in, and I verify there that no one else is logged in as well.
I know my SONET, but don't know IOS very well so I'm not sure exactly what to try once I'm in there.
Can anyone offer any advice on something to try?
    Thank you,
    Mat Lighthall

Thank you for the quick reply Sunil.
I was consoled directly into the card via my PC/serial connection.  My security folks block Telnet on our network.
I do have a quite a few logins throughout the ring, but they are just using CTC in the node/network view and not using IOS.  It is my NOC that is monitoring the TDM side of the ring.
When you say post a database, are you meaning a backup of the node?
    Thank you,

    Hi ,
you are getting this message as the serial is of  an upgrade version not a complete product , if you have any previous product serial number from the drop down menu , then do enter it , if not then please contact customer support for unlocking it , (the previous version serial number should be also a retail product)

I am trying to open CR2 files from a Cannon EOS 1DX camera in Photoshop CS6 and I have already updated the Camera Raw Plug in but Photoshop is still giving me the cannot open files dialog box? Help?

Canon 1DX support was added to ACR in version 6.7, 7.1.  An updated CS6 should be at level ACR 8.6.  If your ACR is not at level 8.6 try using CS6 menu Help>Updates.  If that does not install ACR 8.6 try downloading the ACR and DNG 8.6 converter and see if ACR 8.6 will install into your CS6.
