Trouble opening Digital Editions

I installed Adobe Digitial Editions. In the middle of the installation it prompted me to download and install Netfix 35 for Windows XP. I did that and also installed 3 updates for the Netfix. That allowed me to install Digital Editions. But when I tried to open the program, I got this error message that said "Adobe Digital Editions has encountered an problem and needs to close". It allowed me to send an error report to Microsoft. What do I do next?

I am having the same problem I think they mean "dotnetfx35setup.exe" - the .NET framework install - which is what digital editions required that I install first. After doing so I get that same error. Have already tried removing and reinstalling - no dice.

Trouble authorizing Digital Editions 3.0

I've downlaoded Digital Editions 3.0 for Mac, but when I try to open an ebook, the following message appears: Activation Server error - code E_ADEPT_REQUEST_EXPIRED. I've clicked 'Try Again' several times, but without success. Does anybody have any helpful hints? Thanks :-)

Unable to open Digital Editions books on Kobo Touch.

I have just joined BigW E-Books, I have downloaded two books, they open in Digital Editions but when I try and send them to my Kobo E-reader. They do not transfer in an openable state, message says "Doc is protected and is not currently authorised for use with your Adobe ID." This happens even though I have an authorised ID, which of course is my email address. Anyone know how I can make this work?

It may be that you need a little more: not sure about the user name for Kobo is my email address, this is how I communicate with Kobo.
That might be a Kobo specific knowledge of your email, and not have got through to the Adobe DRM part of the Kobo necessary for reading DRM eBooks.
Also, the Help on the authorization may only be telling you about the Adobe authorization of ADE, and not of the device.

When the Kobo is plugged into to computer with ADE running, the Kobo should show in the left hand panel.
Then run 'menu/Help/Authorize Device' (menu/Library/Authorize Device on older v1.7.2) to make sure the Adobe registration has been passed to the Kobo.

Trouble installing Digital Editions. Tried multiple times and getting errors.

Yesterday rec'd error E_LIC_ALREADY_FULFILLED_BY_ANOTHER_USER, so uninstalled and deleted Adept folder, as suggested on Internet. Trying again today receiving error Could not find Digital Editions folder. Please advise how to fix this. Thank you!

cmicnfg.cpl is a control panel applet file for a cmedia onboard sound chip. Can you verify that this software has been properly removed and the the onboard audio has been disabled in the BIOS? Also, if you remove the Creative soundcard, does this error and device detection still occur?

Trouble installing Digital Editions

I have windows vista and when I try to download the program the adobe digital editions installer prompt me to click yes to download and continue the installation, however when I do click yes nothing happens, this prompt simply remains on the screen. Does anybody know how I can get around this problem and download the program?

I have the exact same problem. Looks like this is universal and no one from Adobe seem to know how to help. I am even concern that they do not even know they have this product because I called the help desk from Singapore and I was routed to a call center who have absolutely no idea what I am talking about when I mentioned Adobe Digital Editions Installer!! Then the guy called his supervisor and the supervisor told me to do the standard things like turn off the firwalls and anti-virus programs. I told him that I have done that 10 times and rebooted my computer and the ADE still do not install itself. After 1 hour of holding on and speaking to him, he said the server where the program resides in is having problems and promised to call me back and send me the program to install directly on my computer the very nxt day. Nothing happens for 5 days. Then he wrote me an email and asked me again to turn off my firewall but mentioned something like "Karpersky Firewall" I only have the basic Windows Defender firewall and so, I wrote back. It is already 7 days into this episode and still no ADE installer and my ebook is still unread.
PS - the guy who claimed to be the supervisor said that I am the only one who has this problem. Sounds like he is lying!!

Trouble opening and editing a text file

As part of a larger program, I am trying to open a text file(actually a .py file) and edit a specific line in the file. However, all that I can get the program to do is read the file, but not edit the line. Here is my code. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Why does Digital Edition not work in desktop mode for WIndows 8?

I have installed the most recent version of JAVA and then downloaded and installed Digital Editions. I can open Digital Editions in desktop mode but when I select a book I cannot turn the page or move to a new page by any means. The only thing that seems to work is to select a new page and then toggle between full screen and partial.

I don't think ADE uses Java at all.
I run it in desktop mode in WIndows 8 and it reads books and turns pages fine: either using the left-right arrow keys,
or clicking on the forward/back buttons each side of the scrollbar at the bottom of the page.
There are lots of bugs in ADE2.0, and even though that isn't a bug for me it may be for you.
Try replacing ADE2.0 with the older but more reliable v1.7.2.
(You can have them both installed at once if you like.)

I am getting a message that Adobe Digital Edition 2.0 has stopped working.

I cannot open Digital Edition and tried downloading again, but nothing happens! I have Windows Vista.

I am not impressed. After being on hold with the sales department for 20 minutes, they assured me that the tech dept. would help, so I waited another 25 minutes for them. Tech directed me to online chat, where I waited another 35 minutes, only to be told that he could not help and that I'd have to post in this forum space. Adobe kindly upgrade your business practices!

Sony PRS-T1 Not Showing Up in Adobe Digital Editions

Though my device, Sony eReader model PRS-T1, is listed under the supported devices (http://blogs.adobe.com/digitalpublishing/supported-devices), it does not appear when I open Digital Editions. ADE2.0/2.0.1 does not work correctly with Sony ereaders when using Overdrive library books.
v1.7.2 works fine for me with my Sony and library books.

Some people have found ADE trying to upgrade automatically.
It appears (not 100% sure) that if you install ADE2.0 as a new install (not as an upgrade) that your 1.7.2 will continue to run.
Probably best to say no if 2.0.x installation asks if you want to migrate your library.

Adobe Digital Editions Help please?

I have purchased my first e-book: "Adobe Premiere Pro CC Digital Classroom" from JB HiFi. The payment went through successfully and I tried to download the e-book. I got the message that to download the e-book I had to install Adobe Digital Editions. I did this and got the message that it installed successfully and that my e-book was downloaded. When I opened Digital Editions I had two books there: "Getting Started with Digital Editions" which opened correctly and my purchased book "Premiere Pro CC" which would not open. I have been trying since Christmas to get this to work but it will not. I have also tried sending emails to Adobe asking for help and have had no response. Their help line is only open weekdays and I work full time so cannot get to talk to anyone. I use Adobe Light Room extensively, Photoshop a little and I was hoping to use Premiere Pro CC if I can get some help with opening this e-book. Will someone please help me?

Errors in Adobe Digital Editions

I installed Adobe Digital Editions to read an eBook I received for free (I'm glad I haven't paid for anything).
I got this error: Error deleting file: C:\Users\Suzanne\Documents\My Digital Editions\backup_manifest.xml
Error detail: Error #2038
Although I have managed to import my free eBook, and a few eBooks I downloaded off of the Adobe sample list, the free one I got from Shortcovers won't open.

I closed and re-opened Digital Editions. Every time I do this it tells me a download is not complete. I'm getting error messages from this book, and the error just says 2038.

Please try the following :
Solution 1 :
1) Open Digital Editions.
2) Connect the Reader and open it.
3) Press the keys Ctrl + Shift + E on your keyboard.
4) Now unplug the Reader and replug it.
5) There you will find a new drive for your Reader created similar to C or D drive Under My computer.
6) Open the Readers Drive and you will find one or two folders with name Digital Editions.
7) Delete those folder and plug off and re plug in the Reader.
8) Authorize Reader from the same Adobe ID which you used to Authorize Adobe Digital Editions.
9) Now transfer your Books to your Reader and it should work
Solution 2) Modify the manifest.xml file located in My s\My Digital Editions:
1) Quit Digital Editions
2) Make a backup copy of the manifest.xml (call it something like manifest.good)
3) Open manifest.xml in notepad
4) It will appears as one big long line of xml, and you are looking for a tag called start at the beginning of this
and select until you the end of the tag that looks called </de:deviceID>
5) If you have attached more than one Reader there may be multiple of these. Delete all of them to make sure.
6) Save the file (manifest.xml) and quit out of notepad
7) Ensure you have the Reader plugged in
8) Launch Digital Editions
9) The Device Setup Assistant should come up.
a) Do NOT click on the "Don't ask again for this device" check box.
b) Do click on the "Authorize Device" button.

Digital Editions crashing on startup on a mac.

Macintosh core Duo, OS 10.4.10, Digital Editions verson 1.0.464
Adobe Digital Editions crashes on startup (at the Initializing stage). I have to Force Quit, then restart the program and it does open up.
DE is way too slow for me. I've preserved Adobe Reader 7 on my machine. Why can't I open up any of my ebooks with it like I used to? Everything opens fine in Digital Editions, but won't open in the older software. Must I purge my computer of Adobe Reader 8 and Digital Editions to get back my previous functionality.

Yes. To re-state: Starting up from a shut-down computer, I would attempt to start Digital Editions, the window would open, then hang at "Initializing" forever. Spinning beach ball. When I would open the Force Quit window, the Digital Editions title would appear in Red, indicating the program is "not responding". After a Force Quit, I would open Digital Editions again. It then started perfectly. Closing the program and restarting it would also work well.
Over the last couple of hours I deleted my entire library folder called "Digital Editions" and re-downloaded all 20+ ebooks from the provider. Now, Digital Editions starts up after a computer restart correctly. Everything appears to be functioning well. So I gather there was some corruption of my library that caused the program to hang.
My dissatisfaction with the "slowness" is in regard to the scrolling speed on a single page when it is fit to width, the limitation to have to drag the scroll bar to scroll down, and the inability to zoom quickly with a zoom button or a "87%", "230%" etc. toolbar section.
Reader was just much faster for me to use. I like to zoom in and out quickly, and scroll very quickly through a book to find what I need.

Does Digital editions work with screen readers

Yesterday I discovered that the books I can read online provided by my library have changed to acsm files instead of protected pdf files. I have installed digital Editions, but it seems that it does not work with my screen reader. When I open the digital editions application there are no controls at all. When I open a acsm file it opens digital editions and nothing happens! I am using JAWS for Windows as my screen reader. Is Digital Editions at all accessable for screen reader users?? There is nothing about Digital Editions on the Adobe accessability pages not a good sign for blind users!
