Trouble opening external files in Web Player

When using the Web Player with Authorware 7.02, whenever I try to open an external file in Winword (Microsoft Word) it looks on the desktop.
This happened even when I used the "get. put. bin  win  file name.doc" in an .aam web file, so instead of looking in the same folder as the .aam is in as the Map file basics instuctions indicated, it looks on the desktop.

The FileLocation is a variable that holds the location where your file is currently being executed. It doesn't go in the aam file it goes into the JumpOutReturn call...
JumpOutReturn("",FileLocation^"A1ChangeStrategyAgendaR.doc")

  • Hyperlink in WebI document to open external files

    Hi all,
    I'm creating a WebI 3.0 document in Infoview and would like to know if it is possible to create a hyperlink on a drill down WebI report which will then open external file formats like PDF, TIFF, JPEG or etc. The external files reside outside BOE and they're in another system in DocuFlo.
    If yes, how can we do so? I've tried OpenDoc but got to realize that it doesn't work for external files. Is there a workaround for this?
    Hope my question is not too confusing. Thanks in advance.

    Yes Kuldeep, I could.
    But the situation that I have now is - the object that is carrying the data will open the relevant external document stored on the server.
    e.g. [State] is a dimension in my universe and the data could be US, UK and NY.
    When I activate the drill and click on US, it should open the US document. (http://servername/US.pdf)
    When I click on UK, it should open the UK document (http://servername/UK.pdf)
    My problem now is, when I click on any of the states, it opens the same document (http://servername/US.pdf). I'm running out of idea and solution
    Many many Cheers~

  • Opening External Files using SWF

    Hi all,
    Is there a way to open external files using swf? I have gone
    through a number of forums and all seem to tell me to open with a
    window projector. my problem is, I need to embed the swf into a
    html to be viewed online... So I need to do it in swf format.
    Any ideas?

    When you say 'external files' I presume you mean local files
    on the users hard drive.
    If that's true:
    When you say 'open' what do you mean? It could mean to open
    and load a text file/xml file or another swf in flash or it could
    mean to launch a document in its native application e.g. .doc
    launches word etc. Flash projectors can do the first thing, but not
    the second thing. And you need to know the path of the file because
    I don't believe you can retreive it from the filereference browsing
    support. 3rd party tools are necessary to really add a lot of file
    system support to projector applications, and then you can do both
    things mentioned here, without the limitations of flash player
    security which is only slightly reduced with regular projector
    files.
    The filereference class in flash is primarily for
    upload/download support. You can't 'open' local files with it.
    There is, to my current knowledge, no way you can do that with
    flash in a html page directly.
    The only way I can think that it might be possible (untested)
    would be to have a separate local MS Office (or any other host for
    a flash activex that gives filesystem access) with some embedded
    flash in a document that (perhaps) could talk via local connection
    with your html page content and which would in turn talk to its VBA
    host to request local file system activity. I don't know if this
    would work because I've not used localconnection, but perhaps it
    might.

  • Opening pdf files from web

    New to forums. Trying to open pdf files from web, and no luck, despite following Adobe trouble shooting suggestions. Using OS 10.7.5.  no flickering or messages, just a tab with a blank screen. Older documents fine, nothing changed until this week. Downloaded X1 in attempt to solve problem.

    Yes i tried following your list of commands and got the same error from MyMathLab by Pearson Publishing or the other link.  I'm beginning to wonder if they are protected.
    As you probably guess - I am not computer savvy.  I will take my laptop to school tomorrow and ask another student.
    Thanks for your followup.

  • Having Trouble Opening TIFF Files

    I'm having trouble opening TIFF files into Camera Raw. I have checked all my settings in Adobe Bridge and everything seems to be saying that TIFF files should open in Camera Raw when I click on then int and then into photoshop when finished editing in camera raw.
    I'm trying to open 32 bit HDR images saved as a TIFF file into Camera Raw, and there seems to be nothing I can do to get them there. I have tried everything I can think of. When I right click on it (cmd click I'm on a mac) the option to open in camera Raw isn't there. I have tried clicking and dragging the image into Photoshop to try and force it maybe to open into Camera Raw, and I have opened photoshop and tried opeing it up from mini Bridge. In mini bridge I have the option to open the image into Camera Raw when I click this nothing happens.
    I'm not sure what else to try I'm on CS6 and Camera Raw 7.0 .

    Alright I'll try that thanks!

    It might be that you need to update camera raw to version 8.3 by going to Help>Updates from within photoshop or bridge.
    (i don't remember exactly in which version of acr that was added, but probably after version 7.0)

  • How can I get Safari 5.1.2 to automatically open pdf files on web pages by using Adobe Reader?

    Safari 5.1.2 always opens pdf files on web pages as a single frame and thus it will not print properly.  How can I get Safari to open all pdfs with Adobe Reader 10.1.1?

    Carolyn,
    Thanks for sending your suggestion on how to solve my problem.  Unfortunately, it did not work for me.  I trashed the file, quit and relaunched Safari, but the problem remained the same.  Although it did not work, I do appreciate that you took the time to try to help me.
    Thanks.

  • Trouble opening pdf files on version 9.4...

    Hi, I recently updated (10/7/10) my Adobe from 9.34 to 9.4 and now I'm having trouble opening my files that were working fine with 9.34.. I read the other post but the problem still seems to occur for my mac..the error message I am getting is..
    Adobe Reader could not open 'maher39767_0324639767_02.11_chapter11.spdf' because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
    I reinstalled Adobe and I'm still getting the problem...
    Please help.

    Does this happen with any pdf or this particular pdf ? If it happens with this pdf only then may be the pdf is not properly downloaded or may be damaged.

  • Open external files

    I`ve been doing some research for a while, but haven`t found any solution for opening external files in my java app.
    Short about my problem:
    I`m giving users of the program the opportuninty to upload different kind of files. When a file is uploaded a label with the filename appears in the screen. When they click on the label I want my program to launch the correct program... Acrobat Reader for .PDF, Paint for jpg,gif.... aso.
    I found something similar that launch the cmd.exe, but it isn`t a general solution that opens all kinds of files...

    As mentioned above I haven`t, so far, found a reliable solution for the problem, and I would have apprecated any kind of help.

    an fscommand folder and a launcher.bat that execute the file that i
    want when i press the button. But what i really want is to execut a
    file whatever it name is. For example i want to execute a .pdf file
    whitout calling it by the name to give me the chance to use de cd
    menu with various cds. Can anyoune help me with the code to the
    launcher.bat file? I have tryed start *.pdf but it didn't work.
    Thank you.

    does it have to be through a url, can't it be trough a path,

  • I'm having trouble opening pdf files for weeks now. Help please.

    I'm having trouble opening pdf files for weeks now. Can someone help me?
    It

    Hi,
    Do you have Adobe Reader installed on your device? You can check it under Settings-->Apps. If Adobe Reader is installed on your device and still the pdfs open in some other app, then you might have chosen that app to be the default app for always opening pdfs. You can clear the defaults for that application. Just go to Settings-->App--->Polaris(or any other app where the files open)--->Clear Defaults. Next time you try to open a pdf, you will be presented with the options again. Hope this helps. Please let us know if you still face some issues.
    Thanks.

  • Having trouble opening avi files

    Hi I just got loads of avi movies from a friend but they won't open, he's an XP user and the files are mainly .avi
    When I try to launch one it gives me the error message that some software is missing and takes me to the QT w/s where there are many options although it doesn't tell me which update I need.
    If I try to open the files in real player it opens a white screen with no picture or sound.
    Does anybody have any idea?

    You gents need to download some of the more common codecs to allow QT to play those AVI files.
    DivX and XviD for video; perhaps AC3 for audio. All for intel. Search this forum or google it. This question has been dealt with numerous times.
    As AVI is an all-in-one container, there are exceptions, but DivX alone will give you playability for a large majority of those files.

  • Having Trouble Opening .EPS File

    I am trying to open a .eps file in Illustrator CS3. As it is trying to open the progress bar for Parsing EPS format appears. Once the bar reaches the end, an error message shows up saying  operation cannot complete because of an unknown error. Can anyone please tell me why this is happening? Even tried opening it up in Photoshop and paring error message appeared. I am using a PC on windows Vista. Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Scott,
    I received the emailed file in zip. Tried opening it with illustrator and the same problem happened again. Any reason why it may still not be opening up? Do you recommend maybe reinstalling illustrator. This problem never happened before. Thanks

    Where did the file come from?
    Was it emailed to you?
    Email servers often corrupt eps files. It's best to have the person zip the file before sending it.

  • Opening external files in Director Projector... *URGENT*

    Hi, this should be really basic, but I just can't work it
    out...
    I want to open external files (but kept in the same root
    directory as my projector file) from a mouse/button click in my
    projector.
    I don't know any Lingo, but I am assuming it should be pretty
    straight forward... I need to launch a .pdf, a .html file (I can do
    this with the goto URL behaviour actually), and a .exe.
    Is there not a preset behaviour for this somewhere?
    Your help is much appreciated.

    > Are we sure that I am doing this right?
    What about the following - copy it into your cast as a
    behavior and
    attach it to all your buttons, one at a time, choosing the
    file you want
    to open when you click each button. You might need to remove
    previous
    code attempts from your buttons. Be sure to include FileXtra4
    with your
    projector - (Menu:) Modify -> Movie -> Xtras..., click
    Add, locate the
    xtra and add it to the list displayed; or simply place it in
    a folder
    named 'Xtras' alongside your projector
    property myFile
    on getPropertyDescriptionList
    fx4 = xtra("FileXtra4").new()
    tRange = fx4.fx_FolderToList( _movie.path )
    fx4 = VOID
    return [#myFile: [#comment: "File to open:", #format:
    #string,
    #default: tRange[1], #range: tRange]]
    end
    on mouseUp me
    tDelimiter = the itemDelimiter
    the itemDelimiter = "."
    tType = the last item of myFile
    the itemDelimiter = tDelimiter
    fx4 = xtra("FileXtra4").new()
    if tType = "exe" then
    OK = fx4.fx_FileRunApp( _movie.path & myFile )
    else
    OK = fx4.fx_FileOpenDocument( _movie.path & myFile )
    end if
    if ( OK <> 1 ) then
    alert "Error opening file:" && myFile
    &RETURN& fx4.fx_ErrorString()
    end if
    fx4 = VOID
    end
