Trouble opening files from LR3 to CS4, desaturation occurring.

I upgraded from LR2 to 3 a while ago, and recently, I've had an odd problem opening my lightly edited files into CS4.  I just do command E on my mac, and they open right into CS4.  When the image(s) open, they almost seem completely desaturated?  I shoot a nikon D700, raw, copy the NEF files into LR3 upon import, do light edits in LR (white balance, recovery, tone curve, some adjustment brush...) and then will open selected files into CS4 for futher tweaking.  Any idea why these images are doing this?  If I go back into lightroom and "reset all settings" and then open, the images open fine.  Help, i'm about to pull my hair out!!!
Here is a screen shot showing the image in LR (left) and then how it opens in CS4.
Thank you in advance for your help!  I'm currently running version 3.6 of lightroom and 11.0.2 of CS4

Nope I am in sRGB.....
It has been very confusing because I can get an image to open normally in CS4 by resetting ALL the settings.... i wrote down the settings, re-set, made sure it opened with the correct color rendition/not desaturated (for lack of a better term.....), and then went through and "re-created" the image step by step, starting with white balance and on down, and opening it in CS4 every step, to see what was making the color render that way in CS4.  I think I have narrowed it down to the Nikon V4 camera profiles... because if I set my camera profile to "d2x mode1 v2" it opens normally (with all of my other lightroom edits made...) but if i simply switch to "d2x mode 1 v4" it will desaturate upon opening in cs4.
I've also had troubles like this from time to time in the past, and thought it had something to do with the adjustment brush.
Has anyone encountered this problem before??  Is it a compatibility issue with CS4 being an older version of photoshop?

  • Cs5 (trial) not opening files from LR3

    I've looked for this on the web. Seen a lot of stuff from some time ago where the solution is to delete prefs files.. done all that. no different.
    If i click 'open in Cs5' in LR3 Photoshop fires up, but the file does not open in PS. Also the menus are greyed out.
    Clicking the X, top right of window to close does not work either.
    Hitting an 'f' key restores the menus, and makes the close window button work.
    Even if PS is already open, doing 'edit in CS5' still means the fiel does not open.
    Can anyone help.

    i have the question posted over there too..
    Interestingly - I reinstalled CS4. files open with no issue using CS4 as external editor.
    Also - files open with no issue if PS Elements is used as the External editor.
    Looks like the issue is with CS5.

  • Troubles opening files from Lightroom 5.3 to Photoshop sinds update.

    I did the update to Lightroom 5.3 and i use Photoshop 13.0.6.
    When i open an image from lightroom into Photoshop i always get the undeveloped image. How can i get the developped image into photoshop?

    I have the same problem.
    Further symptoms:
    - When opening the image as SmartObject in PS CC the slide for e.g. brightness can be moved. When moving the focus to an other slider, the previous changed values (brightness) is reset to 0.
    - it seems that the auto lens correction in LR5 causes the problem sometimes
    I found out a workaround which seems to work:
    - close an app:
    First I thought it was "Parallels" running. I quit Parallels and everything works fine. Next time the problem occured "Parallels" was not running. So I quit the app "Textwrangler". It solved the problem again. Yesterday I solved it quitting the MacOs-build in "Mail" app, because it was the only other app that was running.
    If someone can tell me how the files are exactly taken to Photoshop CC from Lightroom I probably can search for reasons of this behavior.
    Any ideas?
    Hope my workaround helps you too.

    Knut

  • Having trouble opening files in CS4

    I am having a color management nightmare and that has lead to my trouble opening files, so I'll explain that color management part first.
    I use Xrite Eye One Display Two as a calibration system and have recently bought a new Hewlet Packard 25 inch LCD monitor. Anyway, I am not seeing the same color outside of photoshop CS4 ext. that I see in photoshop CS4 ext. When I post a picture to the web, the color changes. I did read a post about this a few threads down, but my problem goes one step further. I changed some settings in the Save for Web section of photoshop and now I can't even open files from Bridge or directly from inside photoshop. Can anyone help me get back to just having problems with color? lol
    I am quite the novice when it comes to certain things in adobe photoshop CS4, so thanks for any help or advice you could give me.

    Gotta love the way HP throws out that "72% Color Gamut" spec (e.g., on this page) without actually saying what color profile or standard it's the gamut of.
    Color management is not something that can be easily explained in a paragraph.  Since you're calibrating your monitor it is kind of important for you to understand what it's all about - and such understanding is possible with just a little effort and reading time.  There are a lot of color management overviews online that can be turned up with a Google search.
    No file showing up without any error message seems kind of weird.  Are you using Windowed view or Tabbed view?  I ask because I'm wondering if somehow the document is opening up off-screen.  Do the entries in the Filter menu become active after such an open?
    Does a document show up if you switch the Open Documents as Tabs setting in Edit - Preferences - Interface?
    Have you installed any plug-ins that are supposed to provide access to any file types not available normally in Photoshop?

  • Trouble opening files on networked storage

    In our small office we are using a Buffalo Linkstation networked hard drive to store and share files between Macs and PCs. One of our Macs in particular has trouble opening files. Either:
    1. The file is invisible
    2. The file doesn't open in the correct application by default (for instance, an InDesign file opening in textedit)
    3. Only files created on this mac, and not on another, will open, though the files created on other macs are visible and have the same extension (but grey and without the usual icon).
    Oddly, when I copy the file onto a USB stick and 'manually' bring it over, it will open fine.
    The Mac in question is a Mac Mini (Power PC) running OSX 10.4.8. Other Computers on the network, which don't have the same trouble opening files are:
    Mac Mini (Intel) with OSX 10.4.8 and Windows XP via Bootcamp
    Power Mac G5 with OSX 19.3.9
    iBook with OSX 10.4.
    Dell Inspiron 5150 laptop with Windows XP
    It seems like a software problem, but the Intel Mac is running the same version of OSX. The troubled Mac seems to drop its connection to the Linkstation much more often than the other computers as well, suggesting possibly a hardware problem?
    iBook, PowerPC G5, Mac Mini Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Could this be an issue with file names?
    I've used a linkstation with macs and had huge problems copying files TO the NAS because of bad file names or file names containing illegal characters for the linkstations formatting (Fat32 or whatever).
    Make sure that you have files with names up to 32 chars and not more
    Make sure you exlcude characters like " [ ] / \ = + : ; " , * |" from your filename
    Include a file extension (.indd for an indesign file for example) for all files.
    By changing file names and adding extensions as required I have been able to store and recover files from the linkstation.
    Try a test file or two. If they work, it could be that that is the problem.

  • Open files from a specific directory

    Dear all,
    I have the following source code that simply selects files from a directory.
    private void openFile()
    JFileChooser fileChooser = new JFileChooser();
    fileChooser.setFileSelectionMode(
    JFileChooser.FILES_ONLY );
    int result = fileChooser.showOpenDialog( this );
    // user clicked Cancel button on dialog
    if (result == JFileChooser.CANCEL_OPTION )
    return;
    File filename = fileChooser.getSelectedFile();
    if (filename == null || filename.getName().equals( "" ))
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog( this,
    "Invalid File Name",
    "Invalid File Name", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE );
    else
    // open the file
    try
         // Open an input stream
         FileInputStream fin1 = new FileInputStream(filename);
    // Read and print a line of text
    BufferedReader d1 = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(fin1));
    abs = d1.readLine();
    outputArea1.setText("");
    outputArea1.append(abs + "\n\n");
    outputArea1.setCaretPosition(0);
    // Close our input and output stream
    fin1.close();
    catch (IOException e5) {
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(this, "Error Opening File", "Error", JOptionPane.ERROR_MESSAGE);
    } // end catch
    } // end else
    } // end private
    My question is: Can I force it to open files from a specific directory, and NOT from MyDocuments directory????
    thanks,
    vxc

    \r = return
    \n = linefeed
    \j = illegal escape character
    JFileChooser fileChooser = new JFileChooser("C:\j2sdk1.4.2\bin");
    You could/should use:
    (new File).pathSeparator
    or
    (new File).pathSeparatorChar
    and
    (new File).separator
    or
    (new File).separatorChar

  • Can't open files from iCloud Drive on Mac

    Hi,
    Can't open file from iCloud Drive on my MacBook Air (OS X 10.10.1).
    I created new file (in Numbers for example). Then Numbers->File->Open->iCloud Drive->my_file.numbers and it says "Can't open file my_file.numbers".
    I can preview the file by pressing Space, but openning from application and double-click on it doesn't work.
    Files that were created earlear also not opened.
    Does anybody know how to solve this problem? thanks.

    Using smtp.mail.me.com - also tried smtp.me.com
    SSL yes
    port 587
    SMTP Authentification Yes
    Security SLS/TLS - also tried STARTTLS
    User full **@me.com email address - also tried user name without @me.com
    I have spoken to apple support this afternoon and we tried the variations shown above.
    Support told me to wait for a day and try again!
    After the iCloud authentication problem last night I changed all my passwords I wonder if there is an SMTP problem at me.com perhaps not reading the updated passwords?
    I'll try and use the old passwords later.

  • How can I list open files from the same application

    I often have several different files open in Word, Excel or Adobe.  However only one is visible.  How do I get a quick list of the other open files from an application?

    Many applications have a Window menu at the top of the screen. Clicking on it will list all the open windows, as well as providing other options depending on the application.

    I just downloaded and installed Photoshop cc and the Camera Raw version is not the latest one available,so now I can no longer open files from my Nikon D750!  Can I update ACR?
    I have been using the new version of ACR with PS6 and have been able to open the D750 files,now I'm stuck.
    Thanks,

    You were probably using the Release Candidate version of camera raw 8.7, which one gets from Adobe Labs.

  • PSCS6 no longer recognizes my CR2 files and will not open. Using Canon 5DMark III with updated Camera Raw . It has worked before but now won't open files from this camera.

    I have been able to open files from this camera before but still checked for latest Camera Raw download. Still won't open files from this camera. Opens files from my 60D just fine. I downloaded the latest and it has worked before. What the heck is going on?

    Glad to be of help. But I'm curious (not critical of what you are doing) to know why so many people like to use Nikon Transfer to transfer their files to the computer. It is still necessary to import them into Lightroom. And, from my perspective, it seems simpler and maybe even a little quicker to use the Lightroom import dialog. I have Nikon cameras, and have never even installed the Nikon Transfer utility. What is so unique about it?

  • Can't open files from Bridge in CS6

    All was good with CS6 until today - it will not open files from Bridge. Jpg and RAW, neither will open, it's driving me bananas! Any suggestions?
    Edit: Problem solved. I had overlooked an old version of PS 7.0 was still in my program files and CS6 Bridge had picked it up as default editor. Deleted PS 7.0 and everything is back to normal. Phew!

    Lots of questions here, will see what I can add.
    For the file problem go to preferences/file type associations.  You should have the option selected CS6 for the extenstion as the default.  Might try the radio button on the bottom first to set them to default settings.
    If the 1.77g file you are refering to is the one you downloaded and used for installation you can delete it.  It is a wise choice to save it to a DVD first so in case you need it in the future you will have it.  Also save the serial number in safe place.  Acutally safe is not the right word, need to save in place where you can find it if you need it next year.  HD can fail.
    There are still thrid party plug-ins that do not work in 64 bit mode, hence the 32 bit version.  Also there is no 64 bit TWAIN so some still like to use that for scanning.
    Some users experience file association and other problems with an uninstall of past versions.  So it is safest to leave them be.
    If you want to clean up a little resist the urge to move any Adobe programs once is is installed.  Can really foul it up.

    For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys.  Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it.  It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process.  Other PowerPC to Intel migration issues are covered here: https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295
