Trouble opening photoshop cs6

I just installed photoshop cs6 on a third computer and I am having trouble opening it.  Do I need to uninstall it from one of the other computers?

you are getting this message as the serial is of  an upgrade version not a complete product , if you have any previous product serial number from the drop down menu , then do enter it , if not then please contact customer support for unlocking it , (the previous version serial number should be also a retail product)

    I am having trouble opening Photoshop CS6. On initial start-up, my screen keeps freezing and it says the program is not responding. I have uninstalled and re-installed 3 times now on my computer.     What system information do you need? Like I said, I use the program daily and it has opened just fine with no problems up until yesterday. I have a Dell Precision M6600 running, Win 7 Ultimate 64bit, 16.0GB, DDR3-1600 SDRAM, 4 DIMM, Intel Core i7-2860M Quad Core 2.50GHz 8MB.

    Having trouble with Photoshop cs6. Brushes that i have downloaded from 3rd party websites were deleted from Photoshop after months of use. We replaced all the brushes 1 by 1 but now there is an extreme lag in almost every function in photoshop that i had never experienced before. Dont know what is going wrong.

    When I try to open Photoshop CS6 I get "Error Code 16"
    I have researched Internet - ADOBE and others - to find a solution, but no luck! (see under)
    The problem started around one year ago but I was able to open Bridge and go to Photoshop from there until recently.
    Now I get "Error Code 16" in Bridge too when I am trying to go to Photoshop.
    I have tried everything I could think of (including creating a new Administrator-user) with help from my Internet research and my own pretty good experience (I started working with computer systems as a Systems Analysts 1968...... - now it is only PCs)
    I miss my Photoshop and Bridge a lot - it is very frustrating to have this problem, but I can see I am not the only one!!!

    I was wondering if there is a way to open photoshop cs6 in 32-bit mode on a windows 7 64-bit system, because photoshop won't recognize the pen pressure on my graphics tablet (yiynova msp19u) I read that some users got it to work in 32-bit mode on macs, and all my other programs like zBrush, art rage, sketch book pro recognize the pen pressure on the tablet.

    well I am going to assume that the application marked photoshop is the 32-bit application, since the other on is marked 64-bit and I don't see one 32-bit. in any case it still not recognizing pen pressure and i have the newest drivers. The only thing I can think of now is that wacom drivers are interfering with it some how since they don't get along, although I was pretty sure i got rid of all wacom software.
    Sigh, it's starting to look like I have to format my computer

    I am having trouble opening photoshop elements. When I get done downloading it, it opens up as a text document in textedit.

    Applications --> Utilities --> Disk Utility
    Repair your stuff and/ or fix the archive. And also refer to the topic on teh front page about issues on OSX 10.7.

    That is quite weird. To be sure can you check under manage accounts whether it shows your username as an administrator or standard account.

    I just installed the trial version of CS6 Premium. I was getting the same error when trying to open the programs. I went into sharing and permissions and updated the privileges. Now everything opens except for Bridges and Photoshop. I get the following error "You can't open the application "Adobe  Photoshop CS6" because it's not supported on this type of Mac.
    Please advise.

    I doubt you need anything special. The files should open without conversion. You can double check with Adobe.

    Hi, I have a mac OS X processor 1.83 GhZ intel core Duo. I downloaded the adobe photoshop CS6 bea trail version. when i open the application it says you can't open the application adobe photoshop because it is not supported on this type of mac. Could anyone of you help please

    Be glad to if I could, but  .. I typed a question in the Adobe CS6 forum and it gave me no way to 'POST.'   I AM logged in but 'Reply' seems to be my only access.
    I had understood that I had been moved to some more appropriate place .. where?
    I just went throught the whole Download process again after talking at some length with an Apple Senior adviser who are very reluctant to discuss any 3rd party apps.
    He was very helpful in using all the techniques to clear up any OS problems, so ..?We checked Utilities>Disk Permissions and Disk Rpair .. all OK.  Also Safe Mode,Reset, etc.
    Lightroom 4.1 and CS5.5 work  just fine. 
    The pop-up about the Javal app came up again and installed; then, when selecting Photoshop CS6.app it runs, and runs, and runs and eventually pops up the error Message 16.
    I have made numerous  screen shots which I keep weeding out to just the most recent.

    Lightrrom 4.2 can't use the right click, "edit in" photoshop CS6. I have tried edit, preferences, and created a Preset and pointed it to the CS6 photoshop.exe... still a no-go. Help!!!

    I had this problem. You must run Lightroom as administrator - even if the account you are in has administrator priviliges.
    Test if this is the problem you are having  by opening lightroom in administrator mode:
    Open Windows explorer and navigate to where the lightroom.exe file is located.
    Usualy in  C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom 4.4
    Right click on lightroom.exe and select "Run as administrator" from the pop up menu.
    Test by selecting a photo and selecting the "Edit in Adobe photoshop CS6" option.
    If this works then close lightroom and go back to the "lightroom.exe" folder location,
    rightclick on the lightroom.exe file but select "properties", then select the "compatibility" tab and
    select "change settings for all users" button.
    A box called  compatibility for all users should appear, at the bottom there is a checkbox "privilige level"
    make sure the "run this program as administrator is checked".
    Close lightroom and reopen it.

  • I tried to open Photoshop CS6 today but get a dialog box asking me to register for a trial version.

    I have been using Photoshop on this PC using windows 8 since late February, and used it as late as yesterday evening without problems.  I have a licensed version of CS6 Extended installed.  I have contacted customer support who confirmed the registration but after 30 minutes of chat informed that they could not provide support via the chat for CS6 and suggested the forum. i have tried opening CS6 both from the desktop shortcut and from within Bridge with the same result.  copy of dialog box shown below.

    I did run across something like this a month ago. Photoshop CS6 came up with a window advertising Creative Cloud.
    I signed in with my email/password, then if there is a trial window, I click on License this software.
    I don't recall, but I think there is a "I have a serial number" option.
    There I enter my serial number and PS is back to working normally.
    Another way that has been reported:
    Sign up to trial. Adobe ID/password
    When closing Photoshop, it asked me if I wanted to continue trial or enter my serial number.
    Enter your serial number and decline trial, it the reverts my PC version of Photoshop to how it was in the first place.

    hello there,
    I am having trouble opening my older files (CS4) in my new CS5. Is there normal? I can preview the file when i 'space bar' it on the desktop but thats about it. When i go to open the file it says 'Could not complete your request because an unknown jpeg marker type is found. Do you think this might be font related?

    Are the files psd-files or jpgs?

    As with all unexplainable Photoshop-problems you might try trashing the prefs (after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed) by pressing command-alt-shift on starting the program or starting from a new user-account.
    System Maintenance (repairing permissions, purging PRAM, running cron-scripts, cleaning caches, etc.) might also be beneficial, Onyx has been recommended for such tasks.

    Weeding out bad fonts never seems to be a bad idea, either. (Validate your fonts in Font Book and remove the bad ones.)
    If 3rd party plug-ins are installed try disabling them to verify if one of those may be responsible for the problem.
    Other than that if it is not a huge number of files you could try to open the images in Preview and saving them as another format.
