Trouble opening Yahoo Mail with Safari

Recently began having trouble opening Yahoo Mail with Safari.  I am continually asked to upgrade my Safari to a newer edition; however, when I do a software upgrade check it tells me I have the latest edition.  Anyone else having this trouble?

Your OS is way out of date and thus your version of Safari and Firefox are too. It would be wise to update Tiger using the combo update found here:http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_4_11_Combo_Update__PPC
Then you can further update Safari to it's current version using Softwareupdate from the Apple menu.
You can also use Firefox Help menu to update to it's current version.
To be safe run Disk Utility's repair disk function from your original install disk and repair permissions before and after the update from your boot disk.
Good Luck,

  • Why can't I open yahoo mail with safari?

As of July 29 I can no longer open Yahoo mail in Safari.  It keeps asking for user name and password, but when I enter it the same screen keeps coming up.

Clear Safari, then close it completely and reset the iPad.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear Cookies and Data.
Now close Safari. In order to close apps in iOS 7, you have to drag the app up from the multitasking display. Double tap the home button and you will see apps lined up going left to right across the screen. Swipe to get to the app that you want to close and then swipe "up" on the app preview thumbnail to close it.
Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.

  • Hello guys. I'm having trouble opening Instagram pages with Safari.

Hello guys. I'm having trouble opening Instagram pages with Safari. I try to open them and it seems to be loading for one second, but then it's all blank, there's nothing on the screen. Funny thing is, when I try to open an Instagram page that doesn't exist, it opens the Instagram NOT FOUND page. I don't know what's going on. I've tried everything, from software updates to restarting my Mac etc. Please help.

Is this the site you are referring to >   http://instagram.com
Because that site refers you to apps for smartphone devices. Not for your Mac.
Regardless of the Instagram website, v10.5.4 is an outdated version of Safari. You need to update your system software.
Click your Apple menu  top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click Software Update.
Restart your Mac after the updates are installed, then try Instagram on Safari.

  • Can't login to Yahoo mail with Safari

    Hi,
I'm using a Macbook (13", 2.4 Ghz) running OS 10.6.8.  I'm using Safari 5.1.2.  I am unable to login to my Yahoo mail account with Safari (works fine using Firefox).  Specifically, when I enter my login name and password, then hit <enter>, nothing happens.  The cursor sits there blinking next to the bullets in the password field.  If I click on the "sign in" button, again, nothing happens.  The password field becomes unselected, but that's it.  I've tried various remedies suggested in the forums:  delete keychains, delete cookies, reset Safari.  Nothing has worked.  Is anyone else having this problem?

    Quit Safari.
Open Keychain Access. Select Passwords on the left.
Delete the:   Safari Forms Autofill keychain  You can use the search field top right corner of the window to find that keychain.
Then right or control click the keychain then click Delete.
Relaunch Safari. Go to Safari > Preferences - Autofill
Make sure: User names and passwords is selected.
    Try accessing your Yahoo account.
BTW, there's a way to access your Yahoo account without having to use web based mail via a browser.
Launch Mac Mail. From the menu bar click Mail > Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Under Accounts on the left click +
Enter your name, Yahoo user name and password;  click Continue
Once your account is setup with Mac Mail, you just click the Mail icon in your Dock. You'll see a small red badge for unread mail there also.
This way you don't have to use a browser (dealing with cookies and caches) to access your Yahoo mail account.

  • On Mac, Firefox crashes when opening Yahoo Mail with attachment

On IMAC using OS 10.4 Firefox crashes completely when using Yahoo Mail to open email with attachment. Also crashes when attempting to attach photo to outgoing email. Email without attachments do not crash Firefox.

Installing a Flash plug-in took care of this problem

  • Accessing Yahoo mail with Safari

I cannot access my Yahoo mail acct. through Safari.  I can do it with Firefox, but don't like the changes in Firefox. Prefer Safari. I get the panic kernal as soon as I getto Yahoo mail. No problem with other sites. Any ideas?

Your sparse bundle is likely toast, but this is worth a read:  http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/fixfilevault.html
the sparsebundle shows a folder Bands (containing plain text files of 8MB each), and 3 files - info.plist, info.bckup and Token.
Yes, that's how sparse bundles are constructed.  There may be many thousands of the "bands."  That's where the encrypted data is.  The advantage is, only the changed bands need to be backed-up.

  • I can not open yahoo mail with this upgrade. I get "The requested URL not found" every time I try

Since upgrading to Firefox 4 I can not open my yahoo e-mail account. I can read most articles in yahoo but every time I try to check my e-mail (or anybody tries to check theirs) we get the same message "The requested URL not found" I am very disappointed because I am forced to use explorer to check my e-mail and I have not used explorer for years because I don't trust it. Please help.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    * "Clear the Cache": Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
    * "Remove the Cookies" from sites causing problems: Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

  • When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings Safari Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is my ipad does not a Private Browsing switch

When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings>Safari>Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is, my ipad does not a Private Browsing switchat this location.

With iOS 7 on the iPad, you turn Private  Browsing on and off by tapping the URL field.  The screen that  opens up has your bookmarks on it.  In the bottom left corner is a hot button marked 'PRIVATE'.  Tap on the word 'PRIVATE' to turn private browsing on or off.  Yeah, there aren't any instructions anywhere that I can find to do this, and if you follow Yahoo's instructions, they don't work.  This doesn't happen with the previous Apple OS, and you can restore your iPad to the older OS.

Is anyone else having these, or similar problems. i cannot log-in to my yahoo.com or onto gmail. The issue started yesterday.
The message states that it cannot secure the
    connection.
    Any suggestions?
I downloaded Netscape to be able to log-in into my accounts.
What a pain. I am using 10.3.9, and all was fine
    thanks,
    victoria

This just happened to me. Apparently yahoo mail just implemented something.. Check out this message from yahoo mail.
    =================
Sorry, Yahoo! Mail Beta does not support your browser.
You can either download a compatible browser or proceed to the original Yahoo! Mail.
If you want to use the Yahoo! Mail Beta...
You can download any of the supported browsers for free by clicking the links below:
Internet Explorer 6.0 or higher (for Windows)
Firefox 1.5 or higher (for Mac and Windows)
SeaMonkey 1.0.8 or higher (for Mac and Windows)
To proceed to original Yahoo! Mail...
Simply follow the link below. If you sign in later with a supported browser, you will automatically be taken to Yahoo! Mail Beta.
Proceed directly to the original Yahoo! Mail
I use 10.3.9 and I have no idea why yahoo mail stopped working today. I have firefox installed on my machine. BTW - firefox is able to serf the web without issues on all of my sites. I often wonder why apple wanted to build a browser, why not just use firefox and contribute to it's development for the mac environment?

  • I cannot open Yahoo Mail in Firefox - It works just fine with all other browsers

When I try to open Yahoo Mail in Firefox, it times out.
    This happens every single day.
Every once in awhile I get lucky and get in, but again, I have to deal with this issue every single day.
Yes, I've dumped the cookies and Cache
Yes, I've switched to No Proxy
Yes, I go through straight links and not bookmarks
    Nothing helps.
Basically, if I want to get into Yahoo Mail, I have to open Google Chrome. Which has me thinking, if I have to open Google Chrome so often, why don't I just switch?
I'm a long time user of Firefox and would prefer to stick with it, but this is the kind of thing that will push me over to using Google Chrome.
    Anyone have any other suggestions?

You can remove all data stored in Firefox from a specific domain via "Forget About This Site" in the right-click context menu of an history entry ("History > Show All History" or "View > Sidebar > History") or via the about:permissions page.
Using "Forget About This Site" will remove all data stored in Firefox from that domain like bookmarks, cookies, passwords, cache, history, and exceptions, so be cautious and if you have a password or other data from that domain that you do not want to lose then make sure to backup this data or make a note.
You can't recover from this 'forget' unless you have a backup of the involved files.
It doesn't have any lasting effect, so if you revisit such a 'forgotten' website then data from that website will be saved once again.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • When I open Yahoo mail I often get headings but no message but the message is there when I use Safari - Yahoo cannot help

When I open Yahoo mail, I frequently get headings but no message, but the message is there on Safari. I have gone through the chat room at yahoo and they did not find the problem when they accessed the account (but it is random). Any suggestions? (Yahoo went through cookies, add-ons etc -all the usual.)
I am not providing the URL because that may allow people into my e-mail account, but it is yahoo mail

That issue is caused by the Adblock Plus extension

Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
*Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • Can access Yahoo, but can't open Yahoo Mail in Firefox. Can on Internet explorer.

Can access Yahoo, but Can't open Yahoo Mail in Firefox. Can open Yahoo Mail on Internet Explorer. Checked Password.

PROBLEM: This is the error I get when I simply try to open an email in Firefox. File not found Firefox can't find the file at http://us.mg1.mail.yahoo.com/dc/blank.html?bn=555&.intl=us&.lang=en-US. * Check the file name for capitalization or other typing errors. * Check to see if the file was moved, renamed or deleted.
    POSSIBLE SOLUTION:
I contacted Yahoo and they had me clear (1) cookies and (2) cache. This did work so that I can now open the emails in Firefox.
    COMMENTS:
Yahoo support said "Please rest assured that Yahoo! Mail is properly working as of this time. It would be best if you contact Mozilla Firefox help support. They have the right tools and knowledge with the settings to access Internet Sites like Yahoo! Mail on Mozilla Firefox browser."
I'd like to know what to do to prevent this in the future because I've had this issue twice now in the last few weeks.
