Trouble Printing PDF Attachments in Outlook as "Fit to Printable Area"

If this has been discussed before, I apologize. I wasn't able to find the exact problem...
We use Outlook 2007 and Reader X here in my office. When we try to print an email w/ a PDF attachment, the attachment is not printing as "Fit to Printable Area," resulting in very tiny printed PDFs. If we open the PDF on its own, "Fit to Printable Area" is selected by default and the attachment prints as it should. The weird thing is... this is only a problem for some users. For others, the attachments always print as "Fit to Printable Area," even when printed at the same time as the email. Is there some kind of default setting for "Fit to Printable Area" that specifically applies to PDF email attachments? Is there some other reason why this problem only affects some users? Everyone is using Windows XP and we're all going to the same printer.
Thanks!
EDIT: Does any one have any ideas on this at all? Thanks again.

In the past, I have overriden the Print dialog with my own dialog..
I've called the print function with param5 = true

  • Cannot print .pdf attachments in Outlook 2010 on local usb printer using the lastest Adobe Reader

We can't print pdf attachments from Outlook 2010 on a users local printer via usb with the latest Adobe Reader but it can print to a network copier. We can print from the local printer emails, webpages, regular pdf's on the hard drive.
    Please advise and thanks.

What is the behavior that you are seeing? Are you getting some error or is it simply failing to print with Reader 10.1.2.

When doing a quick print with a right click on the pdf attachment, it will print.
Also, please let me know that if a simple Right Click > Print operation is working, then what exactly is the operation that is failing.

  • Printing multiple attachments from outlook 2003 fails

I have huge problems printing pdf attachments through outlook, when i try i either dont print them all or it pops up with an error saying.
file could not be found, or No printer installed, or printer have to be setup to allow printing.
ofc a printer is installed and setup, i have tried printing on HP 9000, 9040, 4730, 4600, with both PCL6 and PS drivers.
I have tried printing to a file, and printing directly to the printer.
I have installed a PC with the bare minimum, XP SP2, outlook and adobe 7 and 8, same issue.
the pdfs im trying to print are microsoft proof of sales documents, which we receive several of each day, with 5-20 pdf attachments in each, each attachment is between 400 and 800 kb in size.
the problem is also present in outlook 2007.
I'm sure there are several things i have tried and forgotten in this plea for help, but im really hoping someone out there have one or more ideas.
    Thanks in advance.

I am not very skilled in Adobe by any means, but I was having the same issue.  When I did the Control P to print, I went into Print Options, then into Properties.  Under Adobe PDF settings, I unchecked the box that said "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts." and that worked for me.
    Hope it helps.

  • ? Can't print PDF attachments to gmail since installing 11.06

I am on Windows 7 and Firefox,  Since installing 11.06 I can't print PDF attachments to gmail messages.  I get a (false) message that file cannot be printed, because no pages have been selected.  I tried uninstalling 11.06 and downloading and insatalling it again,  Same result. Any way to download a backlevel version for the time being?  Would appreciate any other sugestions..

Disabling Protected Mode as suggested solved the problem.  It seems to me the impact of Protected Mode should have been highlighted with a warning at the download site.  Alternatively, and in my opinion preferably, Protected Mode enabled should not have been made the default. -shel488

  • Printing PDF attachments

    Hello,
We seem to have a little bit of uncertainty on our end as to whether you are allowed to print PDF attachments along with your specifications. The doucmentation only specifically mentions printing JPG and GIF attachments, are these the only two allowed filetypes?
    Thanks,
    Drew

You can print them individually but they aren't included in the single specification pdf. Only JPG and GIF's print inline with your specification print out.

  • Can you set prefs in a PDF: fit to printable area

Setup: Creating sell sheets that can be downloaded from the web by all sorts of folks. Because we cannot count on all end users to choose "fit to printable area" in their print dialog, we would like to preset it in the PDF...
Question: Can we set the prefs in the PDFs so that when the customer goes to print the PDF, it always will "fit to printable area." Any ideas?
    Using Acrobat Pro 8.1.2
    thank you!

    You cannot.

  • Force the "Fit To Printable Area" Option in Adobe Acrobat [Reader] Print Dialog

    Hi,
I was wondering if there is a way to force Adobe Arcobat Reader to  always use the "Fit To Printable Area" Option in the print dialog?
If this is possible, how can I achieve it?
    Thanks...

If you only have Reader (that is different from Acrobat, the full product), then your only options would be under the preferences in Reader. If they are not there, then the answer is no. To really get a better idea, ask in the Reader forum. If you have Acrobat, then provide the version to get more specific help.

  • Setting Acrobat/Reader page scaling to "Fit to printable area" as a default.

I know there is a way in LC Designer Form Properties>PDF Print Options to set the page scaling to "none," but is there a way to set the Acrobat/Reader option to "fit to printable area" as a default, perhaps through a script of some sort? This will aid in making sure everything on my form is printed each time. Otherwise, I'm certain some users will overlook this option and will print the doc even if it clips certain areas.
The only other option I have is to make sure the form design content fits within the "typical" print margins (i.e. 1/2" all around) and then set the form prosperities to none. There's no guarantee this option will always work as page clipping could still occur due to various printer conditions (ie. allowable print areas).
    Thanks in advance.

  • Acro 8 Pro won't Shrink or Fit to Printable Area

I have drawings that originated in AutoCAD that were saved to PDF on 24x36 sheets. I want to shrink or fit them to the printable area on 11x17,but no matter what options I check it prints the upper left portion of the origianl at full scale.
Using Acrobat 8 Pro to print to an HP 5550dn.
Printing works as expected when done from a machine with Acrobat 7.
What the heck is going on?

I have the same printer, an HP Color Laser Jet 5550dn. I am having the same/similar issue as you are. The shrink to printable area / fit to printable area option does not seem to work. If I manually input a scale that I beleive will work, it prints fine.
Apparently the options previously mentioned are not being translated to the printer properly.
For more info on my similar problem, you can read my original thread by searching my user name. I have only one thread posted.
A quick fix is to input the scale manually, but I'm still searching for a permanent solution.

  • "Fit to printable area" and aspect ratio

I have a simple question about the "fit to printable area" function: Is this selection supposed to keep a document's aspect ratio the same, or does it stretch/squash a document so it goes margin-to-margin in both directions? I am getting two different answers from my friendly nieghborhood acrobat experts.

It's the normal default option and recommended for most people because it "just works". It doesn't change aspect ratio. The only time I'd turn it off is if I had a piece whose printed size was critical e.g. architects plans, official form.

  • Fit to Printable Area

When I print a document using the Fit to Printable Area setting, it puts a thin line at the top and right side of the printed page. I realize that printing with the setting as None will not put in the lines, but I'm wondering if there is a setting that will remove the lines when using Fit to Printable Area.

The second page of a duplexed page is actaully printed back end first, so from the printer's point of view the 0.08" margin actually ends up at the bottom of the page and the 0.46" margin is at the top of the page.
To print both the front and back sides with even margins would require ~0.5" margins top and bottom to accomodate the paper path when printing the back side.

  • Raise without Handler error when printing pdf files in Outlook

At work sometimes I'm asked to print emails with tons of attachments, but when I attempt to print the email with the attachments through outlook, anytime there is a PDF attached, I get the "Raise without Handler!" error and also the following window:
The only way I'm able to print the PDF file is by opening the file directly and then printing it from the actual Acrobat program. At work we use Acrobat 7.0 Professional.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as it's pretty time consuming when I'm printing an email with 20+ PDF attachments.

    Hi Hisami,
    Hope you are well.
Latest adobe & chrome versions. IE is an older version.
    OS Windows home premium 7
    Adobe Reader X1
    Does adobe have chat?
    Bit of background:
I have a monthly subscribtion with adope create and everything was working fine. Then I downloaded a free trial of I think acrobat so I could edit pdf and around the time I got a redirect virus on google chrome. So I deleted all adobe and used Norton power cleaner.
Then tried download (reinstall) adobe create. Now I can't open any of my many pdf files. Just get 'Raise without handler".
    Thanks for looking into this,

  • Can you automatically print email attachments in Outlook 2013 with a standard "out of the box" rule

I know there is a standard "print it" rule in Outlook 2010 that prints the email not the attachment. I heard that there is a standard rule in Outlook 2013 that prints attachments. Is this true? I have Outlook 2010 currently and am having trouble
with scripts that are suppose to auto print attachments. If this feature is now a standard rule in Outlook 2013 I would upgrade.

    Hi,
Please note, both Outlook 2010 and Outlook 2013 only have the rule with the action "print it", but neither of them has the action to print the attachment. You need to use a macro which prints the attachments of the emails.
Some 3rd-party add-ins may also help.
If you need support on the macro, we can post this question to Office Developers forum:

  • Since switching from Chrome, I can't print .pdf attachments directly from my gmail. Please help.

It used to be (in Chrome) that I could view a .pdf attachment in gmail and from there print. Now in Firefox, when I view a .pdf attachment the print option is there and the print dialogue box comes up when I click it, but once I hit "OK" nothing comes out of the printer. I can print emails and other items, so it's not a printer connectivity problem or a problem with the print setup in Firefox. The only items affected are .pdf attachments in my gmail account. I've tried switching .pdf readers and turning off Protected Mode in Adobe. Please help!
