Trouble printing to tabloid paper in CS5

I recently upgraded from Photoshop CS3 to CS5 and I am having trouble  printing on large format (tabloid size) paper from Photoshop CS5. Here  are the steps that I am taking.
1) File -> Print...
2) Print Settings...
3) Select Tabloid paper, hit OK
***The first red flag is that the preview pane still displays "8.5 ins x 11 ins" above it.***
4) Print
Result: An  8.5 x 11 size image prints out in the middle of my tabloid paper. I  have tried Scale to Fit Media and scaling to various percentages to no  avail.
I previously ran into this same problem in CS3, but was able to resolve it by first changing my paper in the now defunct "Page Setup" window.
Any tips??!
By the way, I am printing to a huge XEROX printer if that matters.

Do you have the most current printer driver for your printer? If the page size change isn't "sticking" from "Print Settings", that suggests we're not getting the changed paper size back from the driver.

  • Booklet printing on Tabloid paper

I am creating a booklet to print on tabloid paper. I will be giving this to someone else to take to printer. I'm having a problem because I can't see a way to set up the print to booklet feature, unless I am actually printing it right now on my printer (which does not support printing). Any ideas how to do this so person going to Kinkos does not need to mess with it when they get there?

It's not your resposibility to impose a document for mutliple up, booklet or any other scenerio for many reasons. You are making educated guesses as to how the job will print, but are not actually printing the job.
If you were creating more than a four page newsletter, would you consider creep/shingling? Are you certain they are running flat spreads as opposed to folded signatures? Are bleeds required?
On behalf of all the qualified small printers barely able to make ends meet, if your print provider, Kinko's, cannot print from a proper facing pages document, find one who can. IMO, you'll receive a better product from a company who cares about your project and will be happy to help.

  • Trouble printing on custom paper sizes

I have a project that requires a print on a 5" x 20.5" sheet of paper. I have the MG5320 inkjet printer. I created two of the same images, one with photoshop and the other with word. I setup my page as 5" H x 20.5" W, and tried printing in landscape mode with no luck. The print only prints about 6" of the middle of the image on the leading side of the paper. I have tried various paper settings and orientations, as reversing the dementions. The largest print I can get is on a 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper. I used the rear tray loader. I am working on a iMac running the latest OS. Are these printers capable of printing banner type prints? Any help will help. Thanks

I'm sorry to say that you won't be able to print to a 5" x 20.5" sheet of paper.  The maximum paper size that the PIXMA MG5320 support is 8.5" x 11.7."  You may want to visit a local print shop for assistance with a banner print.

  • I am having trouble printing from photoshop CS5. I cannot choose print options. I am down to printing from Preview. I have a Mac OSX 10.6.8 and i am printing on an Epson pro 3880. this is a new problem

I am in the middle of printing project and just recently i am no longer able to choose Print and get paper type and size.
My epson help thinks its a program issue because i can print in preview.
I am using photoshop CS5 with an Epson stylus pro 3880.

  • Indesign CS3 & Epson r2400 not printing tabloid paper

Indesign CS3 & Epson r2400 not printing tabloid paper. MAC OS 10.5.6. Have tried all configurations of page set up 11 x17 and 8.5 x 11 spreads, custom page sizes and default paper set up. The print comes out cut off. Epson says it's an Indd problem. Very inconvenient. Got any ideas?

I'm having the same problem with IDCS3 5.0.4 and an Epson Stylus PRO 3800 on Mac OS X 10.5.6 with version 6.11 of the Epson driver. I have a 17x17 document in InDesign that I am trying to print on 17x22 paper. The paper spools a little less than half-way down and the print begins, but it prints about 1/4 of the image--it is as if it cropped at 8.5x11 at the top right corner of the image.
I have had to resort to saving the file as a high-res jpeg and printing from Preview as a workaround. Unreal.

  • Trouble printing the correct dimensions.

Hello everyone.Apologies in advance if this a rather basic query. I'm using CS5 on Windows.
I created a photoshop file using the International Paper settings A4, which is 297 by 210 and 150 pixels per inch.
I've used the whole area around the document but I left around a 5mm margin around the edge of the document.
When I come to print the document does not appear to be scaled correctly in the print preview, and then when I come to print on A4 paper measuring exactly 297 x 210 a large part of the image is chopped off at the bottom.
Can anyone explain to me why Photoshop seems to indicate it is a 297 x 210 file but when it comes to printing it is not scaled correctly?
LIkewise how I can fix this and avoid it in the future? Many thanks.
    Would be much appreciated.

Generally speaking, if you make your image so that it fits within the printable space on the printer, and don't use the [ ] Scale To Fit Media option, it should print at exactly the right size.  But it will print your image inside the printable space - right up to the edges of it.
I think your trouble is that you're trying to anticipate the non-printable space and put it inside your image.
Figure out what your printable space is, and try making your image just that size.

  • How to set up Print Specs and Profiles in CS5 Suite

I am no color management expert but I do want to get my printer to print the same colors as my monitor displays in PSD, AI and InD applications.
My Intel iMac and Cinema Display running OS10.5.8 are both color calibrated with Spyder 3 Elite to achieve correct color reproduction.
After days of searching and testing, this is my solution which I offer to help those new to CS5.
    1. Start: PHOTOSHOP:
Set colour settings (Edit>Color Settings) as follows:
              RGB - Adobe RGB 1998
CMYK - US Web Coated (SWOP) v2 (This setting does not effect printer).
Leave Grey and Spot as default 20%
         Color Management Policys:
RGB, CMYK, Gray; all set to Preserve embedded Profiles
         Conversions Options:
              Engine - Adobe ACE
Intent - Relative colourimetric ( my choice for AI artwork. Choose Perceptual for photos in PSD).
Go to Save, give profile a name, and note the Conversion intent so you can create another profile for Perceptual and PSD.
(I called mine Epson R2400 and noted the Relative Colorimetric intent).
Finally, Go to Settings at the top of the Color Settings dialogue and select the color profile you have just named and saved. Click OK
    2. Go to Bridge>Edit>Creative Suite Color Settings. Find your saved profile and select it and click Apply.
Now AI and ID have the same colour preferences.
Users without Bridge will have to set these items in Color Settings for each Adobe application.
    3.   Photoshop>File>Print: Color Management
Color Handling - Photoshop Manages Color
Printer Profile - Choose the ICC Profile to suite your printer and paper stock. I used Epson canned ICC SPR2400 Premium Glossy with great results.
Rendering Intent - Relative Colorimetric for artwork or Perceptual for photos.
    4.  At top of Print dialogue box, select Printer (Epson Stylus Photo 2400 in my case).
         Below, Click and open Print Settings;
Layout - select  Paper Size and number of pages (copies). Layout is one of several items in a drop down menu.
Open the next drop down item, Color Matching. Check that he two options, Color Sync and Epson should be grayed out.
         Move to Print Settings.
Media Type - depends on your paper. (mine is Photo Quality InkJet).
Color - select Color or Black
Color Settings - OFF, This turns off color management in Epson Driver leaving Photoshop in charge!
Mode - I chose Advanced to get fine quality print. Automatic OK for general use.
Click Save. Click Print and you should get a print matching your Monitor.
    ILLUSTRATOR CS5
Bridge will ensure that Color Settings match Photoshop as 1. above. If you don’t have Bridge Go to Edit>Color Settings and specify the same as      Photoshop. Note Settings, at top of Color settings dialogue box requires the profile you created in Photoshop.
Go to File >Print. There are 3 steps to check.
In the  window at left are headings General, Marks and Bleed, Output, Graphics, Color Management, Advanced and Summary.
These are self explanatory. If you do not use Bridge, check Color Management as below:
    1. Printer: your printer. Color Handling: Let Illustrator determine colors. Printer Profile: select your monitor RGB icc profile.
Unlike Photoshop, do NOT use printer/paper ICC. Rendering intent: to suit your image.
    2. Bottom left of Print dialogue box is Page Setup. Set your size etc.
    3. Bottom Left is Printer. MOST IMPORTANT. Here are the similar setting options as PSD 4 above which require different handling.
Select Layout, go down to Color Matching>select COLORSYNC not Epson. This ensures Apple ColorSync does color conversion.
Profile - Automatic should appear with name of your preferred Printer/paper ICC below. ( be careful here as I have found AI sometimes finds the wrong      paper icc. Close Print and start again).
Move down list to Print Settings - Basic:
Page Set up - Standard; Media type - Your choice, (Photo Quality InkJet for me).
              Color - Color
Color Settings OFF to ensure Epson printer driver does not try to manage color.
Mode - Advanced if you want fine quality print. Automatic is OK for general use.
    4. Click Print to close Printer dialogue box. Click Print to close the Print dialogue box and you should get a print to match your on screen image.
    INDESIGN and General Comments.
Always select your Printer first as settings vary according to printer type.
InDesign Print set up is very similar to AI. Select Color Management at left and the Printer, Printer Profile and Rendering Intent require identical settings.
Go to bottom left, Page Setup. Specify Printer and paper size. Select Printer and the settings required are the same as AI.
If you switch between these apps there is considerable danger that the different Profile choices will trip you up. Photoshop color management requires the Printer/paper ICC, AI and InDesign require Monitor ICC. My primary error was to select my professionally scanned printer/paper ICC profile which resulted in weird colours on AI and ID. The clue that led me to choose my Monitor ICC profile instead was the ColorSync option in Color matching in AI. I hope you will find printing runs a lot smoother for you and I heartily invite better informed users than I, can add to, or qualify this post.
May the Force be with you!

Regarding print brightness at output. The Settings of monitor calibration determine white point and black point. At the time you run Spyder 3 or whatever your monitor calibrator is, the software sets a white point of your choosing. current iMacs are far too bright and prints resulting from unmodified Mac monitors will appear too dark because of the excessive screen brightness. My iMac at lowest reading is 139 candelas. To get prints which match the screen I specify 80 candelas. The Spyder software also reads ambient light in the room and makes a calculation which effects the white and black points registered for both viewing and printing. Since paper reflects a light level according to lighting conditions, we each view prints in different conditions according to illumination source. This effects also effects screen viewing so conditions determine what we see.
In simple terms, ambient light reading also modifies the software calculations for colour output. If it is too high, prints are pale, too low and prints are too dark. If the Monitor calibration has been done properly there should be no problem. The point here is to make certain your calibration process is accurate. Personally I have calibrated in a dark room at night-time and I have calibrated In a shaded room at midday. Hugely different conditions. Under both circumstances I have found the calibration has resulted in good prints. So I suspect it is user white point settings or calibration error which results in prints being too dark or too light. I understand the data used by the calibration software applies to the ambient light reading to the monitor for reading conditions and uses other color gamut data for the printing process. So printing error must surely originate with the user.
I welcome comment from more experienced people in this matter.

  • Using windows 7, how do I get my Officejet Pro K8600 to print to 13x19 paper?

I purchased a laptop with Windows 7. Now I cannot get my Officejet Pro K8600 to print correctly to 13x19 paper. It prints onto 13x19 paper but everything is 8.5 x 11 in size. I click print, click properties, change the paper to Super B 13x19, hit ok, the box shows the 13x19 paper with the images filling the paper, I click ok for it to print and it prints the image 8.5 x 11 in size on the 13x19 paper instead of filling the 13x19 paper. I did not have this trouble (and still don't) with my old laptop with XP. Is it the operating system or is it a wrong setting in properties? I have tried to compare the properties settings in both computers, but I cannot find any differences. I don't think it's the driver....please help!
    This question was solved.

    Hello HW,
Try this: go to Devices and Printers and right-click on the Officejet Pro K8600 and click on Printer Properties. Go to the tab called Advanced and click on the button called Print Processor. Select Winprint and click OK. Try another printout and see if it works now. If you still see the same issue see if there's a scaling option on the print dialogue in the application you're printing from.

  • Trouble printing in Photoshop cs4 or lightroom 2

    Hello,
I have a HP z3200 printer and I have successfully calibrated and profiled this paper but now I am having trouble printing. The profiling said he was successful and ready for use for applications to print, but when I use applications like Photoshop or Lightroom 2 in the print settings and try to choose the paper type under the Paper type/quality in the print dialog in Leopard mac, the settings is grayed out, and won't let me select it. THe loaded paper is right below and I have the source as Manual Feed. THe size im printing to is 13" x 19" and I have selected that size in the page setup, super b/a3 on sheet media. I am using the Epson Enhanced Matte 13" x 19".
There are some errors in the Constraints & device status in the Paper type/quality section of the print settings; one says something like the selected paper type is not available in printer (which is like that because I cant select it because its grayed out) and also it says the paper size selected is too big for the loaded paper, which is says it's 12.94" x 19.01".
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?
    Thanks!

I finally figured it out. I did some googling and found that there is a problem with Leopard and how it communicates.
    Taken from HP's pdf:
"Why is the paper preset that I have just created grayed-out in my Mac driver?
In Mac OS X v10.5, when you try to select the paper preset that you have just created in your paper type list on the driver, it might be grayed-out. This is a problem of interaction between the color settings and the paper types in this operating system version. Just select Any in the paper type list of the driver, and the printer will work with the paper preset that you have selected in the front panel of your printer. "

  • Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 Unable to print to Custom paper sizes

    Hi
I have a Konica Minolta magicolor 7450 laser printer that (since switching to mac from windows) is unable to print to Custom paper sizes (entered in the print dialog box from within photoshop CS3) and nothing will print from illustrator CS3 at all.
I have OS 10.5.2 with the 10.1 photoshop update, and the 13.0.2 illustrator update.
When I use to use windows xp & photoshop CS2 I didn't seem to have trouble with this function, but since jumping over to mac & CS3, I can't print on any paperstock other than the defult sizes listed (which it dose perfectly) - I've re downloaded & installed the printers driver, downloaded & installed a firmware update for the printer and tried printing with a network cable & usb cable - all with no luck. I've also tried entering in the custom paper size in the printers LCD panel & setting in as default but it still wants to print on A4 or A3 paper...
Any ideas out there would be appreciated!

so I've been pulling my hair out for 2 days & nights now trying to figure out why I couldnt print on custom paper sizes - I've just now hit the "help" icon in the print dialog box and found this:
    "Creating a custom page size
If you want to print on unusual size paper, such as an odd-size envelope or card, you may be able choose the paper’s size from the Paper Size pop-up menu. To find the Paper Size pop-up menu, choose File > Page Setup, if available. Otherwise, choose File > Print.
If you can’t find the size you need, you can create your own custom paper size.
To create a custom page size:
Open the document you want to print.
Choose File > Page Setup, if it’s available. Choose Page Attributes from the Settings pop-up menu, and then choose Any Printer from the Format For pop-up menu.
Choosing Any Printer ensures that your document can print on any printer that supports the paper size you select.
If Page Setup is not available, choose File > Print.
If the Print dialog contains only two pop-up menus and some buttons across the bottom, click the disclosure triangle beside the Printer pop-up menu.
Choose Manage Custom Sizes from the Paper Size pop-up menu.
    Click the Add button.
Type a name for the paper size.
Enter values in the Paper Size and Printer Margins field."
All I had to change was the "any printer" setting from my (konica minolta) printers name to "Any Printer"!! now my custom paper sizes are printing fine and dandy!! phew!!!!!!!!

  • I am having trouble printing from my computer. The printer keeps giving me an error message.

I have an hp officejet 6500A printer, i am having trouble printing from my computer which is an hp windows 7 64-bit  to my computer. I keep recieving an error message on the printer stating that the paper size or type does not match. What do I need to do to get my computer to print to my printer?

Hi - A couple of things to try.  First, in whatever app you're in, go into File, Print and Printer Properties and set the paper size appropriately.  After that, go into Page Setup in whatever app you're in and set the appropriate size in there as well.  In many cases, this problem is caused by different sizes being set within the printer driver and the app.  If that doesn't work, go back into Printer Properties and try choosing a different paper type (Plain Paper).  I've also had that resolve the problem before.
    Hope that helps.

  • Trouble printing USPS labels from E-Bay with HP Photosmart D110

I am having trouble printing shipping labels (USPS) from E-Bay with HP Photosmart D110. I was able to print for a short while after I bought it, but I tried later and the printer freezes up. It will show printing, but will freeze up until you x out. I am using Windows XP on a 6yr old Toshiba Satellite laptop. I have downloaded the HP utility that troubleshoots some printer problems, and it will fix the problem sometimes. I also have went in and turned printer spooling off, then back on. This has helped a few times. It takes me on the average, 40min to get one label to print. I am a seller on E-Bay and print labels daily. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated.

The envelope size that you might be talking about is a 6.75 Regular, or 6.75R.  If you were printing on window envelopes, it would be 6.75W.  In all my life, I have never heard of a #6 ep.  Yes, you have a challenge with 6.75 because the rollers are not in the correct place for this size of item.  In order for me to print 10R envelopes, I have to insert a precut sheet of paper inside the envelope so that the envelope pulls correctly and doesn't get jammed. You might try this with your 6.75 and see if that works for you.

  • I'm getting a blue tint when I print a certain paper

Recently I noticed that when I print on a certain paper (Epson Premium Ultra Luster Photo Paper) that a blue tint is being printed on the paper along with the image. This seems to be occurring whether I use a standard .icc file or a customized .icc file for this paper. Am using Adobe CS5 to manage colors, rendering intent relative colorometric. Am using an iMac with 10.6.8. and Epson 3880 printer. The only thing I can think that changed is I upgraded from 10.5 to 10.6 a few months back. If you look along the sides of the image below you can see what I'm getting.
Just for the heck of it, I just printed the same image with Photoshop Elements 9, and I am not getting this blue cast.

This is not going to help you, but I have never liked printing direct from Photoshop.  I use a Canon 9000 Pro, which came with an application called Easy Photo Print Pro, which other than being a ting bit more work to print an exact size, always gets colour how light/dark the print is, spot on every time.
I see Epsom have updated their guides to include PS CC.  I wonder if they have updated paper profiles.
