Trouble publishing to .Mac

Hi,
I decided to refresh the design of my iWeb Site, which I upload to .Mac. For this I changed the Template for all sites in iWeb and deleted some older sites that I didn't need/want anymore.
When I click "Publish" iWeb starts creating the pages, like it usually does but when it is supposed to start uploading the files I just get beachballing and a very, very unresponsive mac ( I had to hard-reset it two times because I couldn't even get enough ressources to force quit iWeb). The creating of pages goes through all the way but after that, no go.
I tried publishing to a folder and that works, even though that ended kind of abruptly, too and gave me beachballing at the end (even though all files are in the folder).
Anybody got some idea on what I can do?
Thanks!

Delete the file Home Folder/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iWeb.plist.
Restart your Mac and run Disk Utility to repair permissions.

  • Has anyone experienced a trouble publishing to .mac server?

As the subject says. I had this for a couple hours already! It says 'Published error. The servers are busy. Please try again in a few minutes', and I have tried several times already.
    Happy St. Patrick's Day anyway!

  • Photo gallery not displaying when published to .mac

    Hey,
I'm having some trouble publishing my photo gallery. I do not want to publish it as a web gallery from iPhoto then link to it with iWeb. What I want to do is to send a gallery from iPhoto into iWeb, and have it published as part of the website. When I send a gallery over to iWeb, it loads up great, and I have all the functionality that one would expect when doing this so by all indications, it will load up great on my .mac account. When I publish the website, it does say that it is publishing the photo gallery page, but the issue is that none of my galleries ever show up! I do not know what to do, I have tried completely deleting the photo gallery page and remaking it in case I did something wrong in the design somewhere, but it still does not load up. If I link in a web gallery, it does show up, but, again, that is not what I want to do. I am at a loss for what may be causing the error. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks!

Publishing a iPhotoalbum to iWeb is the same as dragging the album from the media browser to iWeb.

What is it? Does it upload great to dotMac or doesn't it?
There's only one thing to do. Publish it. No need to upload. iWeb takes care of that.
It helps if you provide a URL to said page.

  • Problem Publishing to .Mac

I created a one page site and tried publishing to .mac many times. It seems to take forever (well beyond 30min) and I finally get a message that says there was trouble updating .mac. I have 1024MB of idisk space and can't figure out what the problem is. I am new to this and mac's in general so any help I can get would be greatly appreciated. I'm a teacher that wants to start posting podcasts for his students to review and do some other cool things with.

I tried publishing again and got the message "trouble reading idisk quota".
Anyone with similar problems or solutions?

  • Publishing to .mac

I had my website built through iWeb and published to .mac but then my computer seemed to crash (which I thought wasn't supposed to happen with Mac). Anyway, I have finally finished rebuilding it through iWeb and want to publish it but I can never seem to publish the entire site. The first few pages are published but nothing else. I am not sure if it is having trouble because my internet connection is just not fast enough or what. Is there a way to publish a page at a time? Thanks.

When viewing in Safari have you cleared out its caches and tried again? If that doesn't work and you're only getting those two pages try the following to make sure the site is getting generated completely.
1 - a publish to a folder on the desktop and check the site with Safari. If all is there continue on to #2.
2 - mount you iDisk in the Finder, go to the Web/Sites/iWeb folder and look for your site's folder and the index.html file that should be there. Delete both.
3 - republish your site to .Mac and check with Safari.

    Hello Sue,
I have an iPad 3, iPad Mini and iPhone 5S and they are all sluggish on capitalisation using shift keys. I hope that Apple will solve the problem because it is driving me crazy.
I find using a Microsoft Surface and Windows 8 phone, which I also have, work as well as all the ios devices before the ios 7 upgrade.
It has something to do with the length of time that you need to hold the shift key down. The shift key needs to be held longer than the letter key for the capitalisation to work. For some reason, this is a major change in the way we have learnt to touch type on computers. I am having to relearn how to type!

  • I am having trouble with my Mac Mini's ethernet connection.   Defining a new network interface shows no ethernet adaptor.  Reloading SL from DVD repaired.  But SL update lost ethernet again.  Will Lion Fix?

I am having trouble with my mac mini ethernet.  It had been working for weeks after an update to SL 10.6.8.
Once it went out and i repaired it by defining a new connection from System Preferences ->Network->(left panel service, +).
But yesterday, after a power up.  my ethernet was not working again. I tried this old trick to repair it, but the interface choices
listed for '+' a new service did not include Ethernet any more.  And the Utilities->System Profiler->Ethernet Cards shows
    no ethernet available.
As a last ditch effort i reloaded my original SL from DVD.  (I think it was version 10.6.4 but i could be mistaken on the version).
The ethernet worked!  But KeyNote wasn't going to work because apparently the version i purchased depends on 10.6.8.
So I upgraded again to SL 10.6.8 (Plus some other updates like AirPort which i don't use).
Now the Ethernet is not working again.  I see the same symptoms as before with the Ethernet seeming not installed.
Is this a problem seen by others?
Would going to Lion fix the problem?
Could AirPort actually be the culprit and not SL?
If i stay with my original SL, would i need to repurchase a version of KeyNote for the older version of SL?

    Have you reset the SMC?
    Shut down the computer.
    Unplug the computer's power cord.
    Wait fifteen seconds.
    Attach the computer's power cord.
Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.
While you're at it, resetting the PRAM won't hurt anything and 'might' help is SMC reset didn't work (PRAM does some port control):
    Shut down the computer.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
    Turn on the computer.
Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
    Release the keys.
Something else you might try .... you don't say how you're updating to 10.6.8, however, if you're using Software Update, you might try downloading the 10.6.8 combo update, which contains all updates to 10.6. Sometimes, Software Update doesn't work quite right, and installing the combo update fixes that. Download the update from Apple's download site at http://support.apple.com/downloads/ , using Disk Utility repair permissions, apply the combo update, then repair permissions again.

  • Event invitations not published to .mac web page with rest of calendar

I've published a calendar to the .mac web server successfully, and the web page for the named calendar shows up fine in browsers at the appropriate URL.
However, when I receive an invitation from somebody else, and accept it, and put it into that (published) calendar, that event does NOT get published to the web page. Any idea why?
    Example
    - Joe uses Google Calendar to invite me to a meeting
    - Google calendar sends me a .ics file in email
    - I open the .ics file (click in Apple Mail, which launches iCal)
    - I view the invitation in iCal; then change the status to "Accepted" (from Invited), and change the Calendar for this event to the Calendar I've published on .mac
    - (iCal properly notifies Joe via a reply .ics via email that I've accepted)
    - iCal is properly updating my schedule on .mac for all other events besides this meeting invitation; but the meeting invitation does not get pushed to the .mac web page for my calendar
Item of note: In this use case, I am NOT the event Organizer; somebody else is. Is this why iCal doesn't do it? Or is there something I'm not setting correctly in iCal? Or...?
This renders .mac-web-published calendars effectively useless, since a good share of my calendar is made up of people who email me .ics invitations, and (for various reasons) the person who manages my schedule has to use the .mac web UI for my calendar to know when she can dish out my time. (She doesn't actually put things in my schedule; just allots time.)

    Hi Al,
I can't seem to reproduce the bold/highlighted link thing over here on my end. I have loaded your page on my Safari as well as on a PC using IE and FireFox. All looks okay.
Perhaps try emptying your browser cache and reload the page. Maybe this will clear some cobwebs and let you see the page properly. Good luck!

  • IWeb publishing to .Mac/iDisk- interruptions: does connection speed matter?

    Greetings,
I posted an earlier message somewhere in the iWeb08 forum regarding my suddenly experiencing lack of completion of publishing iWeb site to .Mac. Publishing just stops - no error message comes up. I have however noticed that my internet connection has been also varying in speed - down to a few dozen kbps in the last day, which is when I started experiencing this problem. Does connection speed affect such publishing? in other words, if connection speed goes down tremendously, does publishing to .Mac sort os "times out"???
    Will appreciate input!
    - Roger T

More than likely you are seeing a cached copy of your website. Sometimes this is a local phenomenon and a simple clearing of your browser cache does the trick (Safari>Empty Cache). However sometimes your ISP is the culprit with caching at their level. This seems to be a chronic problem with ISPs in the UK for some reason. And the only thing you can do is to wait it out.
You can try adding a "?" to the end of your URL to force Safari to fetch a non-locally-cached copy of your site, but even this won't help if your ISP is overzealously caching material.
Anyone in the UK can shed light on this ISP phenomenon???
If you find this information useful, please don't forget to provide me with feedback by marking my reply as "solved" or "helpful" using those little buttons that you see in the title bar of this reply. I really appreciate it!

  • IWeb page didn't publish to .mac

I created a web site in iWeb and chose command "publish to .mac" when it was ready. I got an error message saying it didn't publish, but not why. (Yes, I already have a .mac account.)
The page also does not appear under the URL http://web.mac.com/[YourMemberName]. (With the latter part filled in correctly, minus the brackets.)
Worst of all, I cannot find the original iWeb site, only the index copy saved as a Safari file, so I can't attempt to republish.
One, where did my original work go?
Two, why didn't it publish, and what can I do to fix it?

To see the problem go to http://web.mac.com/robruhn
I don't seen any problem. Perhaps it is just your local browser cache? Try clearing your cache and using another browser.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how the pc
    user can form the link?
http://web.mac.com/robruhn should work just fine, unless the person at the other end is mistyping it or something. I would suggest that you get rid of the space in your site name and republish, as that might cause problems for some systems (i.e. change Site 3 to Site3 or Site-3 or Site_3).

  • Publish to .Mac/Publish All to .Mac

Under file I have the option to "Publish to .Mac" or "Publish All to .Mac." What 's the difference?
    Thanks,
    Pasquale

    Hi Pasquale!
How are you? I hope you are having fun with iWeb!
"Publish All to .Mac" tells iWeb to publish each and every file of your website to your iDisk.
"Publish to .Mac" is the default publishing action. The "Publish" button in the lower left corner does the same thing. When you first publish your site, iWeb has to publish everything from scratch. But subsequent publishing only uploads the changed files, which saves time. This only works on .mac. So, the bottomline is that you should probably use the standard "Publish to .Mac" under normal circumstances.
Sometimes when problems crop up, one recommendation is to use the "Publish ALL to .Mac" option to lay down your site from scratch again. It's like erasing and publishing over again.

  • Publish to .mac AND other server

    Question:
I already publish to .mac - no problems there. I need to publish another website on another server. I published to a folder, used Fetch to upload it - works great (I know I lose some of iWeb's features, but that can't be helped).
Here is my question - now when I publish to .mac - the second site I created for the other server loads on my .mac space also. This is not a huge deal - I have no links from one site to the other, it just seems like a waste of space. Is there a way I can choose to upload only my primary site to .mac and not the other one as well?
    Scott

    Hi Scott,
The best thing to do in your case is to separate your two sites into two separate Domain files. That way the two sites can be edited and published independently from one another, so you don't have to have both sites uploaded to .Mac.
If you are in sort of the beginning stages of doing this second site, it might be easiest to start over in a new Domain file. If however, you do not wish to start over with the second site, then splitting off this second site to another Domain file can be done as well.
I'll refer you to a page put up by Mark Heaton (Apnewbie) on the process of domain separation...
    http://web.mac.com/mark8heaton/iWeb/DomainSeparation
You might also find this iWeb helper application called "iWebSites" useful in managing your multiple domain files and creating new domain files, etc...

  • Publish to .Mac vs. Publish All to ,Mac

I am using iWeb v 1.1.2, which I know how to use and is satisfactory for my needs. I do have a question, however. What is the difference between the command "Publish to .Mac" vs. "Publish All to .Mac?" I usually use "Publish to .Mac" as this seems quicker and does not seem the change the .js and Slideshow.html files that I hack to autoplay the audio, eliminate the reflections, etc. Although I don't seem to have any problem with this approach, I would like to be sure that I am not missing anything.
    Thank you.

    James,
Good question. I realized I wasn't sure myself. Here's what I found in iWeb Help:
"When you publish a site, all the sites and pages you changed since the last time you published are published. In other words, you can't publish only selected websites or webpages; your published websites always match the sites and pages in iWeb.
You can publish all your sites and pages (not just those changed sinced you last published), by choosing File > Publish All to .Mac. You might want to publish all your pages if, for example, you accidentally delete your site from .Mac, if you change .Mac accounts and want to publish to your new .Mac account, or if you discover missing links or pages in your site."

I was wondering if anyone has published to .mac with and existing domain and kept it. I have had my business under this domain name for 15 years and do not want to change it at this time.

I believe the issue is solved as the domain now points correctly to BC servers , it was probably a propagation delay.
