Trouble putting videos in iTunes

I cannot click and drag movies into my itunes...it does nothing, this just recently started when i installed itunes 7. I know the movies work because they have been on my ipod before. I've tried going to File>Add to library, I've tried opening my external and clicking and dragging the movies into itunes, nothing works. When i had itunes 6 it worked fine. Any help? Thanks!
macbook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

i have the same problem and i KNOW i haven't done anything wrong because i've even tried downloading videos from the store and they won't even work. it says that either the file is corrupted or itunes can't play it. also, i just got this mac 2 days ago, so it's not like i screwed around with any settings or modded anything.

  • Trouble playing video in iTunes

I'm having trouble viewing videos in the artwork viewer. They will only open in the center of the screen. I have tried changing the settings under "Edit"--"Preferences"--"Playback," but nothing seems to work.
    Please help!

QuickTime cannot play MPEG-2 files with AC3 audio
    (it's mentioned in the FAQ
). I believe you can use MPEG Streamclip (freeware) to convert the
track, both video and audio, to a format that
QuickTime can import and then export, but I'm not
certain, not having used it to convert any AC3.
Probably someone else here can tell you for sure, or
    suggest an alternative.
What format do you or any one else suggest converting to first that would not lose any quality from the video?

  • Trouble importing video to iTunes and watching on ATV2

I have a ton of home video that I want to send from my mac to my new apple tv. I can't for the life of me get this video into itunes...and even when I can get itunes to import some of the clips, they don't show up in my library on the apple tv. I figure this must be a video format issue. I've transcoded all the clips to .mov files and my apple tv still doesn't show them in my library. very puzzling. anyone run into this problem?
PS the original files are M2TS files from my Canon video camera.

So .mov files won't work in itunes?
Not at all. MOV files are file containers that contain any compression format that is supported by your current QT component configuration. This can include DivX, Xvid, multiplexed or elementary MPEG1/2 streams, Flash, Windows media, etc. (I.e., any compressed audio and video data saved using the "Save As..." QT 7 Pro option is automatically placed in an MOV file container. Therefore, placing compressed data in an MOV file container does not, in and of itself, make the data playback compatible with mobile device media players which do not share your main system QT components.
I want my files to stay HD so I've been transcoding using h264.
So what is preventing you? Applications like QT 7 Pro, iMovie, GarageBand, MPEG Streamclip, HandBrake, Turbo.264HD, etc. all have device specific conversion presets to turn your files into iTunes managed/mobile device compatible files. As a general rule of thumb, if you files can be played on your Mac, one or more of the mentioned applications can convert it for you.
So much for apple stuff being "easy".
Try visiting the QT forum to learn more about QT and third-party conversion techniques or join your local Apple User Group Video SIG for general or "one-on-one" assistance.

  • Trouble putting videos and songs on iPod

I was and am still having trouble uploading a wmv file to my iTunes playlist and putting it on my iPod. When I decided to upload the six videos I had already had on my Movies playlist (via syncing) I aborted due to it taking too long. After aborting, however, it removed all 1500 songs off my iPod. Now I cannot drag and drop songs onto my iPod.

I was and am still having trouble uploading a wmv file to my iTunes playlist and putting it on my iPod.
The iPod cannot play .wmv files, so you need to convert it to a format that the iPod can play.
See this for help: Guide to converting video for iPod (Mac/Windows).
Now I cannot drag and drop songs onto my iPod.
Bear in mind you can only do this if the iPod is set to manual transfer.

  • Trouble putting videos on iPod

I have a 30GB Video iPod, and I recently took some videos with my digi camera and wanted to put them on my iPod so I can watch whenever. The format is a format iTunes recognizes (.MOV format...and it opens with Quicktime). I have it in my movie list on iTunes, and I can click on it, and it will play fine. But as soon as I go to sync all the songs and the videos to my iPod I get this message:
"Some of the videos in your iTunes library, including the video "Sonny being tested with a stick and plastic bag", were not copied to the iPod....because they cannot be played by this iPod."
How come I can play it in iTunes, but it says I can't play it on my iPod? How can I make it so I can play it on my iPod? Thanks!!!!!

I have the same problems with you.
    Same 30GB 5G iPod.
So if you are familar with the iPod supported formats, you will know clearly about this.
And I just put the *+Pavtube Video Converter+* converted H.264 mp4 format to my iPod.
Same message with you "can't play video on the iPod.

  • Putting videos into iTunes library

For some reason, my iTunes doesn't recognize .avi or other video files except for .mpg ones and it doesn't put them in the library. I have currently 3 video's, all .mpg. Can you help me please?

The problem is indeed that by default iTunes only supports videos that are MPEG4 or MOV. However, there is a tool available, VideoDrive, which allows you to add all current video formats (including AVI) WITHOUT reconversion. The tool simply adds a small pointer file in your iTunes library, pointing to your AVI file. Problem fixed! And you can keep your videos on any (external) drive you like.
The tool also adds cover art (so your videos appear with DVD covers in Cover flow in iTunes) and metadata info about your movies and TV Shows. I use it almost every day to add new content to iTunes (we don't have videos in the iTunes store over here)
The tool is available at www.aroona.net (only for Mac OS X)

  • Putting video into itunes

How do you put movies or tv shows that you have downloaded from limewire, kazaa etc into itunes. Also, how do you convert video files into whatever format that the ipod reads.

Hows about using Google or maybe I will educate you.
Purchase Quicktime Pro 7 and it will do it for you.
Just so you know, The new Video IPOD (Got mine today)
is and never will be a replacement for products like
the Archos AV 700 or similar units. It doesn't
support DIVx, which is the easiest format to work
with. Great Quality. I have done testing all day and
I have come to realize that their MP4 video files,
which of course are locked (and they want to keep it
that way) were meant for the IPOD and iTunes.
MP4 files (audio or video) are only locked if you purchase them from Apple. If you convert your own files to MP4, they will not be locked in any way.

  • Trouble viewing videos within iTunes 7.6.1

I click on a movie in iTunes and I hear sound but don't see any video. I then click on an audio recording, stop it, and click a second time on the video file. This time the video appears. Anyone else notice this problem?

If you upgraded Quicktime, and still get the same problem, try this:

I was having the same problem and reinstallind both iTunes and Quiktime wasn't helping.

  • Trouble Viewing Videos with iTunes 7

I just downloaded iTunes 7 and it seemed successful. Only none of my videos play. The only reason I upgraded was because the Music store wouldn't allow me to purchase episodes of "The Office" unless I did so. Now my money is spent and my shows are unviewable.

If you upgraded Quicktime, and still get the same problem, try this:

  • Trouble Syncing Videos From iTunes

I took some videos on a digital camera and copied them to the "Movies" folder in iTunes. I can play them off of the PC from this folder with no problem. However for some reason when I sync, I get error messages saying that the audio file format is not supported by Apple TV. They have an ".mpg" extension. Do I need to save these files with a different extension?

    AppleTV plays limited formats:
    http://www.apple.com/appletv/specs.html
Google Handbrake and try converting your videos with that - extension and format are wrong - you need to convert to a suitable format.

  • Can't put video into itunes or ipod

    Hi,
I did spend some time searching and I tried several things but I can't figure it out. My friend burned me a cd with Wedding Crashers as an .avi file. I used "im too mpeg encoder" to change the file into .mp4, mpeg4. I click and drag it and drop it in my ipod folder on itunes, and nothing happens. I try the same thing except drag it into my library and nothing happens, doesn't even show up. I have clicked on file 'add file' to library and i click on it and nothing happens, and add folder and added the folder it was in. All the files in the folder loaded except the wedding crashers .mp4. If anyone has any suggestions or links to places where this has already been asked and answered I would be very appreciative. Thanks.

I am having the same problem. I need HELP!
