Trouble re-sizing

i am using cs4 mac 10.5 - all of a sudden I can not re-size graphics or text boxes - all I can do is move them around - I used to be able to take the cursor arrow - click on a corner box and get a little double sided arrow (for graphics) that would allow me to re-size the graphic - and/or click on the corner of a text box and re-size and re-flow the text box...
what did I do or change and how can I get the re-size feature back????

You mistaken hit the keyboard short cut for Hide Edges Command>H or Hide Bounding Box,
Command>Shift>B you can also get this back by visiting the View menu.
If you feel stupid about this you should just like everyone else and everyone else has done this from ti,me to time, no exceptions.
Try to keep it in mind for the future.

Trouble re-sizing a logo in InDesign.

I am trying to resize a logo to place on a business card. When I insert the logo and hit ctrl+shift to resize with the cornerbox I shrink it and the box becomes smaller but the image stays the same size. So pretty much it is merely just zooming into the logo and cutting off the picture. It is a jpeg. file. Can anyone help please? Beginner at InDesign here.

Re-sizing Macintosh HD 2 Partition

While trying to install OS X I had to partition my hard drive in to 2 disks, because the OS wouldn't install onto the first disk. So now I have it running fine on Macintosh HD 2, which is at 123.95GB, but I have 125.12GB of space on the first disk that I would like to rejoin with the second. I've looked on threads that say all I need to do is delete the free space partition and re-size the partition you want to keep. But since I want to keep my 2nd partion, I'm having trouble re-sizing it.
So in recap, I want to resize my 2nd partition to the full size of the hard drive. How can I do that?

Be very careful here. I attempted a resize similar to this and I nearly lost everything to a corrupted B-Tree.
Make a Time Machine backup before messing with this stuff.
You should be able to click around in Disk Utility until you find the page with information about your hard drive partitions. Select the Partition you wish to delete and press the minus icon just below.
Hopefully you get the prompt to remove and everything sounds good.
If this doesn't work, pray to whatever god you believe in that your hard drive still works. If your hard drive no longer works, you can hopefully reformat the drive and reinstall mac, then migrate stuff back from your Time Machine backup.

Images not re-sizing to fit photo frames

When I insert images onto my keynote pages they do not re-size to fit the photo frame. I cannot find an option to make them fit . Also, unlike the text boxes, I cannot alter the photo frame.
I am using iWork v3.0.2 that I bought with an older mac. I have upgraded my mac and am now on My OSX is 10.5.8
Do I need to upgrade iWork to make this work?

Sorry to learn that you're having trouble re-sizing your pics for Keynote.
Firstly, I would suggest up-grading to at least iWork '08.
Secondly, try using http://img243.imageshack.us/content.php?page=done&l=img243/4979/picture1fv.png&v ia=mupload which will re-size images to suit various applications.
If you click on the 'Slide size' bar, this should allow you to open a slide page that best suits the size of slide you wish to install. If your slides are large, then I would suggest 1920 x 1080 (pixels)

"No CD/DVD drive Available"

My luck with Elements has been down right rotten here lately ! I have been having trouble re-sizing pictures and now that I've just about got that figured out and I'm ready to burn them to a DVD I get a message telling me that there is "No CD/DVD Drive Available" !
Ok,no need for me to beat around the bush I have no idea what this means....I mean..... I do know that I have burned videos onto DVD's and made many music CD's on my laptop in the past with no problem,but I have never even attempted to burn any photos . So.... is this telling me that I need some special Driver in order to burn photos to a DVD ? Thanks again for sharing your knowledge ! You folks have been a huge help in my PSE education !

Here's some additional info about trying to solve your problems. In some cases CD burning problems can be caused by "filters", which are located in the Windows system registry. Here's a page with this information; http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic137666.html#post815753 as well as additional links for reference. Problems caused by registry filters normally cause system wide trouble with the optical drives, so I'm providing this for general knowledge as much as a solution.
PSE links to system functions by files called "dll (s)" (dynamic library links), they can be damaged or corrupted in various ways. There isn't much sense in trying to repair the PSE installation via these files. There are too many, and I can't tell you with which one the problem might exist.
Since you say that PSE has been giving you headaches in general recently, it might be time to try a reinstall of the program.
An un/reinstall may solve your problems, and won't damage or lose any of your catalog information. With that said, before you begin, write your tags and metadata info to the pictures. That file path is "File" (top menu bar) > "Write keyword tag and properties info to photos". If you haven't done this already, it's best to apply the data by selecting groups of photos rather than selecting all the photos at once. Too many photos selected at once might possibly crash the program, and in smaller groups you have the reassurance that the task has been accomplished.
If you decide to attempt a reinstall, completely disable your anti virus program before you begin.
I should add that sometimes malware infections can cause random problems with existing software. In an effort to be thorough, it might be prudent to do some scans with your security software before you begin. It can't hurt. Mr. John Ellis has stated that Norton security products in particular can have some adverse effects on a PSE installation. (At least I hope I've quoted him correctly).

Jagged edges on vector art and fonts on R1900 using AI CS5 in OSX

Problem with the R1900 Printer and AI CS5
I have been using the same printer with CS4 without any trouble whatsoever for at least 5yrs. Beautiful quality prints without so much as itch and great color control...
In October I finally made the switch to CS5 and my printing capability goes to hell.
Quality printing straight from AI to a non-postcript inkjet printer such as the R1900 doesn't seem to be an option anymore...
I get jagged edges on vector art and fonts. I do graphic arts/logos/prints and this is a huge issue...!
Apparently I have to save my AI files as PDFs and print from there, but this poses extra steps, troubles in sizing, colors, page set up...
I mean nothing beats being able to print direct from AI... I cannot understand what the problem is all of a sudden.
At home I have a late '06 Mac Pro running CS4 and printing successfully to a C88 epson inkjet printer under OSX 10.5
What is the matter, please help, this is cramping my style and performance???

Ok this would not be a problem with 10.4.11 on a Power PV Mac but on an Intel Mac running 10.6.4 or running anything above 10.4.11 on any Mac you would need a postscript driver. Problem, there is no postscript driver for this model Printer this is actually a photo quality printer, that is what it does best.
So what to do the best one can do is to save the file as a pdf and print from Acrobat. There is no other way regardless of what one would like and expect.

[JS, CS4] Document window resizing

Hello all
Having trouble re-sizing the main document window with the below script fragment. Used to work perfectly in CS3. In CS4, if the document window is maximised and then the script is run, it works: it makes the window smaller. If the doc window is smaller than the maximum size and the script is run, it maximises the doc window: it doesn't make it the size specified in the script. In other words, every second time the script is run it works; the other times, it maximises the doc window. Have tried using smaller values for the win size, but doesn't matter what the values are.
Any idea what's going wrong? It's a bit of an annoying glitch for me ...

if window bounds not equal to which one you want then below code execute

Trouble with re-sizing images/textboxes InDesign CS6

Has anyone had any problems re-sizing images or text boxes in InDesign CS6?
I have been doing it for months by selecting the corners and dragging them in or out but suddenly it's stopped working. The arrow no longer changes to a double arrow when I hover over the corner and all I can see is an hourglass when I hover over any type of frame.
I can resize images only be changing their percentage in the transform objects -> scale options.
I tried re-setting my preferences and it didn't help.
Please advise me if there is something else I can do.

The only thing I can think of is that there is something wrong or slow with my remote desktop connection which is affecting functionality. No one else seems to have had this problem.

Re-Sizing Troubles PSE10

When my clients order a disc I want them to only be able to print 4x6 prints. How do I go about re-sizing the photos to make this possible??
P.S. I know NOTHING about re-sizing so I might need step by step instructions.

Where it says Document Size.
Enter w 6", h 4" for landscape mode, reverse the numbers for portrait mode.
Since your clients will be printing, the resolution should be in the 240-300 px/in range.
You may not be able to maintain the aspect ratio (3:2) with constrain proportions checked. Distortion of the picture may result.
Try it - nothing to lose. But if it does not work out for you, you may have to crop a bit. I don't know what you are starting out with. Be sure to work on duplicate files.
Also, note that you can batch resize via File menu>Process Multiple Files. See the help files for detailed info.

Having trouble sizing multiple graphs using a For Loop in Excel.

I am creating multiple graphs in Excel using LabVIEW but I can only set the size for the first graph. The others are ignored. I am using the Excel Insert Graph Vi. I can change the position of al 4 graphs and i can change the size of the first graph created but not the others. Simply create and save a blank Excel workbook and use it when it prompts for the file. Here is my my code. Will someone please let me know what is going on. Thanks.

If anyone is still following this thread, I have discovered a solution to the problem of resizing multiple graphs in Excel with the Report Generation Toolkit. The problem seems to occur because subsequent graphs that are added to the report are configured to "Lock Aspect Ratio", which means you cannot assign a width and height to the graph that would violate its initial width/height proportions. I was able to get around this behavior by defining the object's position and dimensions after creating the object, as opposed to defining them at the same time the object was created. This problem will be fixed in a future release of the Report Generation Toolkit. For now, you can fix the problem yourself by modifying vi.lib\addons\_office\excel.llb\Excel Insert Graph.vi. Here is a screenshot of the affected area of code as it is currently implemented:

By assigning the dimensions after turning off the "Lock Aspect Ratio" feature, we see that all the subsequent graphs are sized correctly.

Trouble Printing Mixed-Sized Pages

I converted a Word document with one 8.5x11 portrtait page and several 11x17 landscape pages using Adobe Acrobat 9. When I print the pdf the 11x17 sheet rotates 180 degrees (prints upside down). This started happening in June (around the time I was upgraded to Adobe 9). My operating system is Windows XP. We have uninstalled the software and reinstalled several times. I have had co-workers trouble-shoot by printing the pdf from Windows 2007 and to various printers, still the same problem. Help.

I can only think to select the leagl pages to print and then select the letter pages to print.
But, to get your issue more exposure I would suggest posting it in the commercial forums since this is a commercial product. You can do this at Commercial LaserJet Forums.

Having trouble sizing a photo for wallpaper in iOS 7

When I try to move and scale a photo for my home screen wallpaper on my iPad3, using iOS 7, it immediately reverts to it's original size, which is larger than the screen. Is this a bug in iOS 7 or am I doing something wrong?

I was able to move and scale the wallpaper on my iPad 4 by turning off the parallax motion....
Go to Settings > General > Assessibility > Reduce Motion "set to OFF"
Next, in Settings > Wallpapers & Brightness > Choose Wallpaper (pick the wallpaper) - you should now be able to "Move and Scale" the photo that you've chosen for your wallpaper.
After you've SET the wallpaper, you can go back to Parallax motion by turning Reduce Motion to "ON" (see step 1)

Vector Smart (InDesign) Sizing in Photoshop - trouble?

I created a typed grahic in InDesign and then pasted it into photoshop so that I could save for web and devices and use it for a nav bar on a site that I am buiding.
When I did this in the past, the graphic would paste as a vector smart object in the exact same size as it appears in InDesign. Now, all of a sudden, when I paste the graphic into PS it appears very large and at a higher resolution. When I make teh canvas and the resolution smaller, it becomes too tiny. I'm pretty sure I am going about this incorrectly and am wondering if someone can suggest a better way to do this.
Again, what I want to do is paste a graphic that I made in InDesign into Photoshop as a vector smart object. It is a typed word that is size 12 font. I want the size to remain the same.

If InDesign included the absolute size, then the placed PDF file will be at that size.
You're placing a PDF - it can rasterize at ANY pixel size. So, if it doesn't come in at the right size, just resize it - that's what smart objects are for.
Also, for a typed word, you used InDesign? Why not just type it in Photoshop and keep the text vector?

[SOLVED] Is anyone else having trouble sizing fonts in Xfce 4.6?

There are very limited options in Xfce 4.6 for me to adjust fonts; mostly there are options to adjust icon font size (I don't use icons) & the Title font, which I can adjust.
I have looked through everything in my ~.config/ & see nothing, I think that what I may have had has been deleted in the upgrade?
The new xfconf system offers me nothing to manually configure?
I really am lost as to how to get my fonts back to their large size which suits my 24" 1920x1200 screen resolution?
When I go to my Arch/Openbox setup which uses the xfce4-panel it suffers from the tiny fonts also, even though Openbox Configuration Manager has all the font settings still listed as I desire them to be.
Firefox even has tiny menu & tab fonts, that remain beyond my adjustment.
I fear that if I downgrade Xfce I will still inherit the current settings.
This upgrade has made my computer very hard for my eyes.
Does anyone know the solution to this problem?

Ok, the problem is now solved, as follows:
On my straight Xfce4 DE I had to turn off the Custom dpi (which had been set at 96) in the Settings; Appearance config' & restart X, & at a quick glance, it looks like things are as they should be.
In the Arch/Openbox/xfce4-panel system I use, there was still the problem: What I found was that the lxappearance GUI config' tool, (which one of a few that I use) had its font sizes set to 10?
So I changed them to the 20 I normally use & everything now looks good here too.
I hope this lot helps someone else, as it took me at least 2 hours to get past it.

Trouble accessing photos.

Hello! Need help! Having trouble accessing photos from Adobe Photoshop Album Starter Edition 3.0, I had a free trial but never registered the program because I was not using it. The other day I was taking pics off a Canon camera, & they automatically loaded into that site. I selected cancel several times, but the program did not respond. Once they completely loaded in, the program asked if I wanted to erase photos from the camera, I selected no but it started erasing them, I was able to stop it but 44 were erased off the camera. I can see the photos in the program but can not access them since I never registered. I tried to register now but received email saying that program has expired. So how do I get my photos? Please help! The photos are not mine, I was loading them from a friends camera, & they are important vacation memories to her! Thanks! Ruth

When you click on one of the thumbnails do you see a blank window where the full sized image? Or do you see this in the window:
In either case make a temporary, backup copy (select the library and type Command+D) and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Since only one option can be run at a time start with Option #1, followed by #3 and then #4.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.
