Trouble recording audio: driver missing?

Hi, I think I deleted my internal audio recording device for my laptop (below). How do I restore it? When I connect external mic, it doesn't recognize that either.
thanks!

Hi,
Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - restart the notebook.

  • Trouble recording audio in Cubase SX with X-Fi Platinum

    Hi everyone,
I'm trying to record audio in Cubase SX with my X-Fi Platinum. I have:
    - Selected Creative ASIO for the ASIO driver
    - Ensured that the VST inputs are set to the correct X-Fi input
    - Ensured that the VST outputs are set to the X-Fi Front Left and Right outputs
    - Switched on direct monitoring in the mixer, and I can hear the audio input before trying to record anything.
    - Enabled recording for the audio track in my project
    - There are no inserts, sends or EQ specified on the audio track - it's all clean.
My problem is this: When I hit the master record, the recording bar on the audio track doesn't move. On the occasions where the recording bar does move (I'm not sure how I managed to get it moving), no sound is being recorded - even though I can hear via direct monitoring the sound that I am trying to record.
The other symptom that I am getting is that the VU meter for the audio track in the mixer is not displaying or moving prior to recording or during recording - even though I can still hear the audio via the direct monitoring.
I'm new to Cubase SX, and I'm probably missing something simple. Can anyone help me?
    Thanks!

You brought up quite old thread so maybe no vista yet at that time.
Sometimes, setting latency too low may prevent recording/playing ... or setting the monitoring
false (there are hardware monitoring and software monitoring which maybe can't be used at once).
SX has also a settings option named as "Lower Latency" which sometimes is best to leave disabled.

  • Trouble with audio driver HPG60-243CL

    Hello.
A few days ago, I needed to format my notebook (model G60-243CL) and I did everything just like I'm used to do. I reinstaled Windows 7 and after instaling the drivers downloaded from HP drivers page, I had to restart the computer. That's when my troubles began.
Sometimes, when starting up, everything goes on properly until the Windows loading screen, when my computer suddenly restarts again. It doesn't happen everytime and it seems a bit random to me. However, I noticed that when it finally turns on after restarting several times, the audio is a bit odd in every application that involves audio like musics players, videos and games.
On the rare occasions where my notebook manages to start up properly, the audio stays normal.
I already tried formating again, reinstaling the audio drivers and codecs, but nothing seems to work. Does anybody have any suggestions?

There is no simple way to record sound in Java, AFAIU.
Uncle_Sam wrote: ...on some mixer and then play it back. ...
Now my problem is that when the headphones are not connected, any audio being played out through the sound card can be recorded through mixers 4 and 6 above. This includes sounds created by the operating system, any audio files being played out etc. However, when I connect my headphones, the audio at the microphones can be recorded through mixers 4 and 5 above but any audio produced by the computer (again, sounds produced by the OS, audio files being played out etc.) cannot be recorded at any mixer. I tried mixer 6 above without success.
Is it not possible to record computer audio when a microphone is connected? If it is, how?
Significant question. Are you interested in getting this code to work for the machine you sit in front of, or is this for 'the general end user'?
I have no general solution for the latter, but for a single machine, installing an 'audio loop-back' (either software or hardware) might be the answer. That is the most intelligent thing I can offer that might help get around this problem.

  • Macbook Pro Audio Driver Missing

Last night I was watching a movie with my brother, with the audio increased, thanks to VLC.
Today, my audio driver is gone. What's left is something called Digital Out, which my computer tells me has no output controls.
What do I do? This has never happened before, and I have no idea why it is happening now. I am running OS X Lion 10.7.2.
Also, my recovery HD for Lion is gone as well, so i can't boot up from there to try to fix my problem, unless there is a new way to get to the recovery HD that I am unaware of. Help would be GREATLY appreciated, thanks.

  • Beats Audio Driver missing on HP Pavilion 13 x360 a110dx

I recently installed a SSD in my laptop and downloaded all drivers from HP. When I installed the Realtek HD Audio driver from the support page, the beats audio software did not install with it. Where can I get the beats audio driver for my laptop? Also, I do not want to have to use the recovery partition on the old hard drive (also I should not be forced to do so as that is an insult to any HP customer).

Hello? The issue is not solved and would appreciate a HP representative to answer my question. Thanks.

  • Video Recording - Audio distorted / missing?

I went to a showcase last night and recorded a video of one of the performances. The music was pretty loud, but not any louder than any other show. I had no problem enjoying the music without my ears hurting and my ears are pretty sensitive.
I checked the recording (3 min long) today and the sound is terribly distorted for the first minute or so and then cuts out completely. Obviously this wasn't the case during the show. I tried another sample recording of me just talking and it works and sounds fine. The video file also sounds the same when transferred to my computer.
Does anyone have any thoughts or has had this happen to them?

I had the same issue. Recorded songs at concerts 2 nights in a row and at a loud nightclub. Audio terribly distorted most of the time. Sound cuts in and out completely at seemingly random times (no pattern based on sound volume - the shows were at a fairly constant level of loudness - very loud). At first I thought I may have accidentally been hitting some button/screen item on the phone while recording, but I don't think there is anything on the phone that would produce the on and off sound situation. Never have this problem when recording in normal sound level situations. Any helpful suggestions would be appreciated. If I need some app or external mic, I'd be happy to get it so I can record at concerts.

  • Mouse pointer disappearing when recording audio?

I'm having trouble recording audio in presenter -- when I get started recording, after the first slide the mouse pointer seems to disappear onscreen. I can't do anything except clicking escape which brings up the save window and I can use my keyboard to navigate and click save. Then the mouse reappears.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any solutions?

Yes.  This has happened to me, consistently.  I am using Windows 8.1, Office 2013 (64-bit).
I have Adobe Presenter 7 and 8.  I purchased 10 (as an upgrade), but it wouldn't install because the "upgrade" is ONLY available if you're upgrading from Presenter version 9 (something they don't tell you before you buy).  This is a separate issue--I've asked for a refund and in the meantime, I'm using the trial version of 10.
As I record, I notice the arrow from the mouse-pointer disappears and will not re-appear.  I must hit "escape" and save the work that way.  I have tried re-booting, and disabling add-ins.  Nothing seems to work.
I'm afraid we have another "glitch" in an Adobe Product.  What else is new?

  • Can I record audio and spread it across several slides

I am having trouble recording audio at the same time I am
recording a software simulation. Must be like the chewing gum and
walking thing! I would like to record a few slides at a time and
then add the audio. I select Audio and record, but it only records
on the first slide...or whichever slide it happens to be on. I
thought I saw somewhere that I could choose to spread the audio
file across several slides if I choose. Can anyone tell me if this
is possible and how to do that?

    Hi deidrelynn
After you make that long voiceover, have you tried clicking
Audio > Edit Timing... and adjusting the split bars where you
want the audio to break? If not, perhaps that's worth a shot.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Missing Audio Driver in Windows 8.1 64 bit

I have a HP Pavilion m7750n that originally was installed with Windows Vista. It's had it's hard drive replaced many times over the years, and now it's running on Windows 8.1 64 bit.
The problem is: the audio driver went missing somehow
I can't find it on Device Manager (no "Unknown Devices" show up on the menu)
The only "Sound, video, and game comtrollers" drivers that show up are:
    1. Hauppauge WinTV HVR-1600
    2. NVIDIA High Definition Audio
    3. NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device
All of this happened after I used the "Refresh" option Windows 8 has. The right sound driver showed up on Device Manager and worked before I did this.
On sound options it says the only audio devices I have are some HDMI outputs. The only way to get sound out of my PC anymore is to hook it up to my TV from a HDMI cable connected to the HDMI port on my video card.
Does anyone know how I can find the audio driver so i can use my desktop speakers again?

    Hi,
It uses "Realtek High Definition Audio" and Microsoft says it's compatible but many people say no:
         http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/compatibility/CompatCenter/ProductDetailsViewer?Name=Realtek%...
    Please try:
        http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/downloadsView.aspx?Langid=1&PNid=24&PFid=24&Level=4&Conn=3&DownT...
    or
      http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/REALTEK/Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver-6017161-for...
Other option: does it have a spare PCI/PCIe slot ? Buy a PCI or PCIe aud card and install on your machine.
    Regards.

  • 9.1.3 crashing whilst recording "error code 1" audio driver problem

I'm still smarting over a six hour location recording session that Logic ruined for me yesterday - came away with nothing because of this problem.
Was trying to record a full band - eighth channels simultaneously, using ART Tubefire audio interface into Logic 9.1.3 on my macbook pro.
It started out OK - no apparent problems when setting up, testing the mics, setting the levels, etc.
Then as soon as we started trying to record proper takes of the songs, Logic seized up, giving the reason as "error code 1" being returned by the audio driver. this would happen after about half a minute or so of recording apparently normally (sometimes a bit longer, sometimes a bit shorter). It would also give me another error message about the disk being too slow sometimes as well.
I tried adjusting various settings and preferences (sample rate, buffer size, internal or external clocking, etc. etc.) but nothing worked.
I restarted the computer and the audio interface. No change.
Then I tried recording fewer tracks simultaneously (although the computer really should be able to cope with a pretty simple 8-track set-up, as indeed it has done quite happily in the past) but that made no difference either.
Then I disconnected the firewire connection and tried to see if I could at least record some audio straight into the computer, connecting the headphone out of the Tubefire to the macbook's built-in mic jack. Same problem.
I don't know how to fix this.
    Help please?
    Thanks,
    Mark

Everyone I know is having issues with Logic 9 and Snow Leopard. If you can, try using Logic 8 and OS 10.5.8 works well for me. 32 tracks for 2 hours. It absolutely will not work if I use a laptop with Snow Leopard.

  • Missing audio slider in "window" record audio (fcpX10.0.6)

After updating to the new version the audio slider in menu "window, record audio" is not there.
    Is this a bug?
(I posted this question elswhere before but i cant find it anymore)
    Thanks.

this is what i mean: i miss the import decice gain slider:
somtimes by starting this window the slider jumps very quickly from  the right to the left and remains there... A certain amount of level is still there so i can use it by loud speaking near to the mic...

  • Recording trouble. Audio levels are normal and then quiet?

As you can tell by the title, I have no idea how to properly phrase this issue. Anyways, I have had difficulties recording on this computer...
    Information to keep in mind:
    - The model is Satellite C655D-S5200
    - I have owned this computer for nearly two months
    - This problem has been present since the first day I tried recording with it
    - I record with Audacity
    - This problem occurs in other programs, such as the default webcam program that came installed with this computer model.
Since I can't really seem to put what is going on into words, I thought it would be best to upload a screenshot of the problem. Also, I have included a screenshot of my current recording device. Hopefully the screenshots work. Otherwise, I'll do my best to describe the problem.

Just to make sure I'm understanding, when you're recording something that's at an approximately non-fluctuating audio level, the recording drops substantially. The audio level of the recording is dropping even though the audio level of the source is not, correct?
You could try reinstalling the audio driver.
    Conexant Audio Driver(v8.54.1.0; 02-23-2011; 42.15M)
I've never heard of this kind of issue before. If that doesn't solve it, I'd suggest contacting technical support at (800) 457-7777.

  • Missing audio driver after upgrade/Skype install

    Hi,
A few days a ago I fresh installed Arch 64b/KDE 4.5.1 on a new PC and fully updated it.
During the installation, I remember alsa has worked fine
Yesterday I've installed Skype from repositories (inc 32b libraries), and upgraded to x-server 1.90 (as part of a full upgarde).
Ever since, upon login KDE complaints about a missing audio device (which it did NOT before), Skype offers only Pulse audio (and does NOT work), and my on board audio driver is missing.
Although on-board audio IS ENABLED at the BIOS, the on board audio modules are NOT loaded as indicated by the following:
    lspci | grep Audio
00:14.2 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc SBx00 Azalia (Intel HDA) (rev 40)
01:00.1 Audio device: ATI Technologies Inc Redwood HDMI Audio [Radeon HD 5600 Series]
(I've an ATI 5600 PCIe graphic card which includes also an HDMI output, and an on-board Realtek ACL 889 audio controller).
Please advise how to restore full audio functionality from on-board controller?
