Trouble recording audio in Cubase SX with X-Fi Platinum

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to record audio in Cubase SX with my X-Fi Platinum. I have:
- Selected Creative ASIO for the ASIO driver
- Ensured that the VST inputs are set to the correct X-Fi input
- Ensured that the VST outputs are set to the X-Fi Front Left and Right outputs
- Switched on direct monitoring in the mixer, and I can hear the audio input before trying to record anything.
- Enabled recording for the audio track in my project
- There are no inserts, sends or EQ specified on the audio track - it's all clean.
My problem is this: When I hit the master record, the recording bar on the audio track doesn't move. On the occasions where the recording bar does move (I'm not sure how I managed to get it moving), no sound is being recorded - even though I can hear via direct monitoring the sound that I am trying to record.
The other symptom that I am getting is that the VU meter for the audio track in the mixer is not displaying or moving prior to recording or during recording - even though I can still hear the audio via the direct monitoring.
I'm new to Cubase SX, and I'm probably missing something simple. Can anyone help me?
Thanks!

You brought up quite old thread so maybe no vista yet at that time.
Sometimes, setting latency too low may prevent recording/playing ... or setting the monitoring
false (there are hardware monitoring and software monitoring which maybe can't be used at once).
SX has also a settings option named as "Lower Latency" which sometimes is best to leave disabled.

  • PVC2300 recorded audio is not sync with video

    Hi all,
I have a big big problem with my new PVC2300 network camera:
when I recording (from browser interface) the audio of the .avi file is not sync with video... in details in a record of 12-13 minutes the audio ends 8-10 seconds before the video... and I suppose that more lenght is the recorded file and more lenght is the desync between audio and video.
I use MPEG4 video stream at 640x480 30 fps and audio G.711 A-Law in mode "simplex - listen only".
For my usage this is a very big isssue... I hope there is a way to fix it.
    Thanks in advice
    Robert

I tried for 2 days for all possible configurations, editing: frame rate, quality, resolution. and type of stream (MPEG4 or MJPEG).
The only case that the recorded audio and video is sync is setting the SMB protocol to autorecord to a NAS.
But this mode have a lot of problems (.asf  format, large file size and continuos recording without the ability to start and stop the recordings).
I think that the desync is a bug (a very big bug) of yours activex control  that makes the recording.
I have find more or less a workaround using the Cisco Client... the program get an error on start (after unintall and install few times, and a lot of test, I understand that the only way to use the Cisco Client is running it as administrator.
Ok finnaly the cisco program works, but using it I found another problems:
after recorded, I tried to export a part of recording for testing the audio-video sync... the program gives me 2 format: AVI (without the ability to choose any other options) and ASF (with quality options). I tried first AVI format... the result sucks: bad video quality, 1,8 GB every 20 minutes and audio desync... no comment! ...then I tried the second export format: ASF...thats OK, the result is good... audio finally is syncronized with video.
My system is Windows Vista SP2 (32bit) and Internet Explorer 8... I tried also from an other pc with Windows 7... same problems recording from browser interface.  I have installed on my system the lastest video codecs (for example: divx etc.).
For my usage I can use the Cisco Client but my ideal usage will be recording from browser.
I think these problems are very serious for a product as is this camera.
I hope there is a way to resolve they... maybe with a future firmware update or installing an other software.
    Thanks

  • Nightmare recording audio into premiere pro with Mbox 2 Mini  Mac OSX

I've adjusted buffer settings, power settings, and so on, not to mention watched two Premiere Pro tutorials on recording audio directly into Premiere that barely still apply, but adobe finds relevant enough to suggest.  I am using a Digidesign Mbox 2 Mini and an ElectroVoice RE20 Microphone.  If I'm lucky I get a clean track of audio for about 45 seconds before the audio begins to pop and crack.  In reading on Avid's forums this is due to a buffer issue, but I've since changed my buffer to every setting and still keep wasting time.  Does anyone have any experience recording directly into premiere pro cc 2014?, Anyone with an Mbox 2 Mini?, Do you have an audio box that seems to work perfectly with CC 2014?  If you have any insight on any of those questions, please comment below.
I've tried everything I could find and read about online, but at this point I have to give up before I waste anymore time.  I've switched usb ports, maybe is a USB 3.0 with 2.0 device?, I switched power locations, plugs, protectors, and so on, even USB cables.... blahhh
    Specs:
    Premiere Pro CC 2014 8.1
2012 Macbook Pro (Non-Retina), 16GB of Ram, dual internal SSD, 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
    OSX 10.8.5
Mbox 2 Mini, Firmware 1.4, latest drivers.

    Hi AbzZilla,
I was looking up this post and found you've a similar problem...
I was having the non-responsiveness with the above configurations in 'LE 7.4 & 7.4.2c (Mac-only), but I have now installed Pro Tools LE 8.
Unfortunately I still can't get the MBOX2 to work with the Mac mini 2, but the MBOX2 USB status alights now [i.e. it's very bright and now works] on the MBP 17" ...all with Mac OS X 10.5.6! In all previous Pro Tools versions it confirms support for Pro Tools and the MBox, with the Mac mini:
    http://archive.digidesign.com/compato/osx/os.cfm
So I too am 'stumped' as this is the brand new computer that I wanted the software to be operable on. I've swapped the USB cables (to check if it was a failed cable) and it looks like either a firmware clash or a USB-port power issue? I've also tried non-powered USB hubs... as it could be the later issue? So when I find my powered USB hub I'll let you know, ...if there's a change?
Until then... I Iook forward to further posts in this thread!
    Thanks for kicking-off the discussion.

  • Recording Audio (vox, acoustic guitar) with Click Track Only in Headphones

Is this possible? I have an M-Audio 410 with one mic recording both my vox and acoustic guitar. I also have headphones connected to the 410. Can I set it up so I hear the click thru the headphones, but not thru the monitor so it isn't recorded along with my vox ang guitar? Something needs to be turned on, off--I'm a little (more than a little) slow.
    Thanx, everyone

Well, I turn them back on to give a quick listen here and there, but usually not until I am ready to begin mixing. That's what I have them for in the first place. I do leave them on if I am not using a mic. I record bass direct, and I just got a Vox ToneLab, so I won't need to mic my amp any longer. Drums are midi, so I guess only vocals & acoustic guitar will need the monitors turned off from now own. Even leaving them on, I still record using headphones so I can hear everything clearly.

  • Replace audio with separately recorded audio and sink it with video and original audio

I have recorded the audion with a high quality digital recorder.  How do I replace the audion taken with my video camera?  and make sure it is in sink with the video.

Once you have followed Steve's steps, to adjust the sync perfectly, see this article: http://forums.adobe.com/thread/436751?tstart=120
Now, some users have found that their cameras, and their separate audio recorders do not sync 100%. With today's technology, they certainly should, but camera and recorder companies do not see to care, so leave the task to the editor. One user found that his Zoom recorder was about 0.06% slower than his Panasonic cameras, by trial and error, and critical listening. This was a constant sync error. To correct, he changes the speed of the Audio 1.04%, with Maintain Pitch checked - then it is always perfect. If you find that you cannot maintain perfect sync, explore speed settings for the Audio. If the recorder is a high-quality, the OOS (Out Of Sync) should be constant, and when you find the correction, it should be the same for all projects, so the trial and error should pay dividends.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • What recording audio interface to use with iMac G5 1.9 1GB

    Hi,
I need an audio (USB or Firewire) interface to start using my new iMac in my home studio. That's why I ordered my G5 17 inch 1.9 Ghz with 1GB of RAM.
There are many on the market like Digidesign's Mbox 2, Motu traveler etc., but what can I expect from my G5 performance-wise? If it's limited to two simultaneous tracks because the hard drive can only cope with that, I don't want to spend a lot on an audio interface that supports a lot more.
I'm sure there are lots of mac users out there who record music.
My goal is primarly home studio use, but if I can track my band with four microphones in the practicing room, that would be nice, but not essential.
But minimally I need to record two or three simultaneous signals while playing back up to four/five already recorded tracks.
I would appreciate any tips (as well as on the software, Garageband is too limited already after a couple of weeks of use to get used to my new Mac, which by the way is great).
    THANKS!!!

Since it appears you need multitrack recording capabilities, I suggest searching for that kind of software on:
    http://guide.apple.com/
    http://www.versiontracker.com/

You might also want to check the various Pro and Applications software Apple makes to see if it does what you need:

  • Trouble recording audio: driver missing?

Hi, I think I deleted my internal audio recording device for my laptop (below). How do I restore it? When I connect external mic, it doesn't recognize that either.
    thanks!
»  HP Pavilion dv7-6163us Entertainment Notebook PC

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp55001-55500/sp55094.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load.  Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - restart the notebook.

  • Audio 5.1 problem with K8N Neo4 Platinum

    Hi,
First of all, apologize for my bad english (I'm French).
    I have a problem similar to aberdeen5...
I recently installed 5.1 speakers on my motherboard, but in Windows, Media Player and PowerDVD I only get sound on the 2 front speakers.
I set 6 speakers in PowerDVD and 5.1 surround speakers in the windows control panel. In the mixer, the sound is on for the six speakers.
I test the speakers with MSI CoreCell and the MSI sound control panel and the 6 speakers work fine...
In dxdiag (DirectX utility), the sound test works only on the front speakers when the software buffer memory is used, but when the test used hardware buffer memory, the sound comes well from the 6 speakers...
I've installed the nVidia unified driver for the nForce4, and the latest Realtek AC97 drivers ( a3.73 WHQL)...
If someone has an idea, or had the same problem and solve it, eventually even with an other motherboard, I thank him very much to help me :-)
    Have a good day !

    Hi,
Finally I tried what you suggested, but the problem remained.
I desinstalled Realtek drivers and installed manually the last nVidia audio ones, included in the 6.53 release. The sound is better, but in PowerDVD it remains on the 2 front speakers...
Perhaps my version of PowerDVD (OEM 5.0) can't play in 5.1... I will try the Deluxe 6.0 version.
when you use 5.1 speakers, do you here the 'ting' sound onthe 6 speakers when you turn on/down the system sound in the task bar ?
I will reinstall the Terratec in my new config and see the behaviour in Windows and PowerDVD 5, then I will know about it.
I will post a new topic later with the solution if I found something. The posts in "New Nforce audio drivers?" from syar2003 were also useful for me. It's difficult to install the audio drivers and choose between "MCP nvidia" and "audio codec nvidia".
    Thanks again for your help.

  • Mouse pointer disappearing when recording audio?

I'm having trouble recording audio in presenter -- when I get started recording, after the first slide the mouse pointer seems to disappear onscreen. I can't do anything except clicking escape which brings up the save window and I can use my keyboard to navigate and click save. Then the mouse reappears.
Has this happened to anyone else? Any solutions?

Yes.  This has happened to me, consistently.  I am using Windows 8.1, Office 2013 (64-bit).
I have Adobe Presenter 7 and 8.  I purchased 10 (as an upgrade), but it wouldn't install because the "upgrade" is ONLY available if you're upgrading from Presenter version 9 (something they don't tell you before you buy).  This is a separate issue--I've asked for a refund and in the meantime, I'm using the trial version of 10.
As I record, I notice the arrow from the mouse-pointer disappears and will not re-appear.  I must hit "escape" and save the work that way.  I have tried re-booting, and disabling add-ins.  Nothing seems to work.
I'm afraid we have another "glitch" in an Adobe Product.  What else is new?

  • Any way to record audio?

    Hello,
Is there a way to record audio using iSight microphone with Quicktime or any other recording software? Weather saved in a mp3 of aiff, or.mov??
    Michel

    Hi
yes in Quicktime Pro click on file/new audio recording.
Or have a look at Audio-in http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/15962 when run change audio device to 0xa27000401af2f

  • Can I record audio and spread it across several slides

I am having trouble recording audio at the same time I am
recording a software simulation. Must be like the chewing gum and
walking thing! I would like to record a few slides at a time and
then add the audio. I select Audio and record, but it only records
on the first slide...or whichever slide it happens to be on. I
thought I saw somewhere that I could choose to spread the audio
file across several slides if I choose. Can anyone tell me if this
is possible and how to do that?

    Hi deidrelynn
After you make that long voiceover, have you tried clicking
Audio > Edit Timing... and adjusting the split bars where you
want the audio to break? If not, perhaps that's worth a shot.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Having lots of trouble creating a multicam clip with independently recorded audio in sync

I can't figure out why this isn't working and have tried it many different ways and many times. Here's the situation:
Video was shot on a Canon 5D Mark III and a Canon 7D (I suspect this may be part of the problem because the 5D has timecode capabilities and the 7D doesn't)
Primary audio was recorded on a Zoom H4N but each camera recorded audio also and the levels are all fine
I've tried the following to create the mutlicam clip of the interview with all audio and video in sync:
Naming the Camera Angle for each clip (Profile and Straight On)
Selecting all of the relevant video clips
Seleting all of the relevant audio and video clips
Synchronizing the video clips with the high quality audio clips (half of which I had to do by hand) and then selecting the sychronized clips to create the multicam clip
None of this works. In the end a multicam clip is created that is completely out of sync. I'm at a loss and would love any help!
    Thank you.
    Nick

I saw in a video tutorial (after trying to find solutions to this problem) that one should assign the independent audio to the same camera angle as one of the cameras. After assigning it to its own angle, it did much better but it loses sync about half way through now. Screenshot attached.

  • Trying to record Stereo Mix with a monitor through my headphones.  Using Screenium to record Audio and Video, using Avid MBox Mini with MXL 909 Microphone for the audio through the interface.

Basically, what I am trying to do is this:
Record my screen through Screeenium, record my voice as audio through an Avid MBox Mini (interface) with a MXL 909 microphone to pick up the audio.  I have all that figured out.  I'm able to efficiently record my audio and screenplay through these instruments and programs.  What I am having trouble with is the stereo mix.  I am running into a slew of problems here... My goal: Add on the audio of a game that I am playing (for example, Amneisia) so that the audio for my game will be picked up internally, and not through the speakers to be recorded through the microphone.  I want there to be no external sound except me talking into my microphone.  I also want to be able to HEAR the audio of the game through my headphones (and if possible, myself as well, through a monitor maybe?)
Problems I have run into so far:
-Haven't gotten it to pick up in game audio at all while using headphone.  Can't figure this out
-Downloaded soundflower, have the output as soundflower.  Not picking up anything, will put all my sound and midi settings at the end.
-When I do record through my microphone, it is only picking up a single channel (left earpiece only, no right channel)
-I have figured out it is NOT the equipment, I use Pro Tools and am able to pick up both channels with my mic, recorded a few tests. It's settings and I can't      figure it out
-Trying not to run 16 million programs while running the game, will cause lag.
    Summed up:
    Trying to record:
-Audio from gameplay of any game I am playing through alternative route of speakers (do NOT want to record game audio through speakers, internally)
-Record voice through Avid MBox Mini and MXL 909 microphone.
    -Record screen gameplay through Screenium
I followed a guide that told me to achieve "stereo mix'' I need to download soundflower and follow "X" steps.  That is done and these are my current settings:
Audio Midi Setup - Stereo Mix custom Aggregate Device, Soundflower (2ch) selected, Avid Mbox Mini selected, Soundflower Output #1 has 2 channels (1-2), using Avid MBox mini for "Input" in order to record.  Using Soundflower AND Avid MBox mini as "Output" in order to hear the sounds and replay game sounds (could be the problem? Maybe?)
Sound Settings - Output Stereo Mix (custom channel)  Input Avid MBox Mini (recording)
I'm hoping this isn't too hard to understand.. I'm VERY bad at explaining information regarding computers.. It's hard becuase I don't understand it.  I can clarify anything that I am able to, so any help on finding certain things would be greatly appreciated.
My computer: Macbook Pro MAC OS X Lion (11G63) 10.7.5  2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 4GB 13333 MGz DDR3  (If any of this is imporant)

    Hey guys,
I tried to do some research and it looks like you need to have an external device and its drivers, such as an external microphone, installed on the computer to record audio that can be saved as a sound file. Another Suggestion is to try an auxiliary spliter for your headphones and external speakers?
What software are you using to record your game?
If anyone knows anything different, please let me know.

  • 16 channels of audio recording at the same time with a MAC BOOK?

    Hi,
I want to know how many channels of audio I can record at the same-time with a MAC BOOK (2.16GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 1GB memory 120GB hard drive, Double-layer SuperDrive), firewire audio device and Logic Pro 8?
You see I am aiming to record a live gig and I want to come into a firewire recording interface with 16 channels of audio all at the same time (24-bit, 44Khz) Does anyone know if this is possible? Or am I looking for trouble? No plug-ins will be used just record straight in. Anyone have some experience with this?
    Thanks.

    Ok, like this:
Macbook - FW Port - FW Cable -In- MOTU Traveler -Out- External Harddrive.
Firewire is capable of chaining units.
Also plugged into your motu traveler will be an optical cable coming from the ADA.
This will carry the 8 channels of audio it outputs.
Also another good thing to do is to also have an optical cable FROM the optical output of your Traveler into the Behringer's input.
That way you can sync the Behringer's digital clock to that of the Traveler, giving you a slightly better sounding signal that if you were to sync the traveler to the Behringer. This is simply because the traveler has a better quality digital clock than the Behringer unit so it's best to use that. To do this you just select "Adat input" on the back of the Behringer, and leave the Travelers sync to "Internal Clock". It is only a very very slight difference and you may not be able to notice the difference but for the cost of an optical cable it's worth doing.
It will all make a lot more sense when you have the two units and the harddrive all plugged in.

  • Can No Longer Record Audio With iMic

I've been using the Camera Connection Kit with the iMic to record audio from my studio via 'Line In' for months with no issue. A few weeks ago, my iPad stopped recording using iMic. It only records with the internal mic now, so the sound is garbage. The software company says it isn't their software that's the problem. Did Apple have an update (prior to latest release) that rendered iMic useless?
Without the ability to record audio in this fashion, the iPad is a useless paperweight for me.
    Any help is appreciated.

Users have reported that some accessories that worked with the CCK before the update to iOS 4.2.1 now no longer work. This article, updated after the iOS update give a clue that the update changed what worked.
