Trouble reinstalling after Windows xp crash

I have recently bought the upgrade to PS cs4 and installed it over my cs3 version. Shortly after this windows crashed & I had to reinstall windows XP but I can't seem to reinstall PS cs4 I get a 1605 message. If I just try to run the old program which still on my C drive the program opens and then I get a 147:20 message sayiong I have to reboot(w/o success) I would uninstall ps, but the program won't let me get as far as being able
to deactivate it. Thanks for any help!

That's how it's worked for me when I've had a crash and it was installed on two machines and a hard-drive crashed so I didn't have a chance to deactivate. One time it happened, it picked the wrong machine and I had to activate Photoshop on that machine, again, and it deactivated the real one that crashed. Another time it picked the right one. Perhaps it choose the one used least recently rather than activated least recently, but I've never had to call Adobe about deactivating after a crash.
Perhaps it works differently, now. The bottom line is that you should not have to worry about deactivating Photoshop just to be able to install it, again. The worst that can happen is you have to call Adobe and have a discussion about what happened and have them do it.

  • Troubling reinstalling after uninstalling iTunes

When I experienced some problems with iTunes, I uninstalled it. Now, even after I made sure I uninstalled all possible components, files, etc., I'm having trouble reinstalling it. When I go to the webpage where you download iTunes, I click on the download button fine... and every time, it instantly says "Thank you for installing iTunes." The problem is, I do not have iTunes. I can't find it anywhere on my computer. What is going on?

I am not sure exactly why this happens, you have to go to a separate site for the download and something on your PC is blocking it.
Maybe check ad block and pop up blocking?
Anyway assuming that downloading in general works, you can get iTunes from file hippo.

I have to say I have never used file hippo to download iTunes myself.

  • Reinstalling Audition after Windows 7 crash/corruption

My Audition CS5.5 went down after a Windows 7 blue screen crash and won't run now.  I understand that I'm entitled to reinstall it from Adobe's web site but would like to know how to do that.  I hope reisntalling will fix the problem, which is the latest of many that I've had with Adobe CS5.5.  Should I uninstall current corrupted version?  Will I have any trouble with the web site allowing me to download it again?
I'm posting this to the forum because I have had NO LUCK with Adobe's help site or customer service personnel on ANY of my problems with Adobe CS5.5.  Also, this is the first time I've ever been able to find my way into the forum posting area and I wanted to try it, since I'm not sure I'll be able to find my way back here.  The site is so confusing that Adobe's own representative had trouble with it.  I'm holding on to the hope that there is a user out there who can help me.
    Thanks in advance.

Run the Creative Suite Cleaner Tool and then download your software using this method:
Direct Download Links for Adobe Software
Also clean out the prefs. In fact that should be the first thing to try - if they got corrupted, they can easily cause crashes. Check your C:\Users\You\AppData\roaming\Adobe folder. And also check your system audio configuration and driver. Obviously flakey config there might be relevant for an audio processing program...

  • How do I get Thunderbird to allow me to choose SMTP than IMAP when reinstalling after a system crash?

I had a system crash in Jan. After the crash recovery (Windows had written over parts of the disc but recovered most things; however, they were set to states as if they had just been installed), Thunderbird did something I was unhappy with & I reinstalled it. When I did, it did not allow me to select IPOP or IMAP but came up with IMAP, which I had never used before & knew nothing about. However, now having read about IMAP & having used it with Comcast, I dislike it intensely--it's slow & cumbersome & doesn't allow me to save emails with everything permanently attached to them. I haven't had the time to pursue it until now. How can I get back to using IPOP?

POP and IMAP are the two incoming mail protocols.
SMTP is the outgoing mail protocol.
Maybe when Apple invents their own email protocol it will be iPOP like all their other iSomethings
Here are the instructions for switching Thunderbird from IMAP to POP..

You can download the trial version of the software thru the page linked below and then use your current serial number to activate it.  If you registered your product the serial number should be available in your account info.
Be sure to follow the steps outlined in the Note: Very Important Instructions section on the download pages at this site and have cookies enabled in your browser or else the download will not work properly.

  • InDesign CS4 to reinstall after a system crash. I have bought CS4 some years ago in order to update InDesign CS2. Of course, I have my S/N for CS4 but, during the reinstallation process, I have to give the S/N of InDesign CS2 wich is lost !

I'm unable to reinstall InDesign CS4 which was bought as an update of an old InDesign CS2. I have the serial number of CS4 but I have lost the S/N of CS2 which is required.
    Thanks for help.
    Y. Ravassard

    Hi,
Thanks a lot for your answer. In fact, I’ve really registered CS2 in 2002 (october 14th). But I guess that, at this time, my email address was [email protected] <mailto:[email protected]> which is no more presently usable.
So, when the installation program of CS4 requires the S/N of CS2 (because my CS4 was an update of a preceding CS2, I’ve an answer (1037-0225-5711-8675-6584-4525) but this answer is not considered as correct by the program.
I guess this change of mail adress is the reason why I don’t find, on my personal file on Adobe, any information about Indesign CS4 (S/N : 1037-0005-3808-1893-0944-6511) nor PhotoShop CS5 (S/N : 1330-0000-7535-1483-5980-1567).
    Thanks

  • Reinstalling after a HDD crash

    Hello:
My MBP is currently at an authorized service center due to a HDD crash. I have partially backed up data files, but no disk image. My question is do I need to repurchase my license for Mountain Lion from the company installing the new drive or should my current license be enough? If I don't need a new license is there any serial number I'd need to provide them? If so, where would I get that from?
Sorry for the compound question. :-) in case it matters, I can't remember which OS my MBP shipped with, but I purchased the Mountain Lion upgrade a few months ago.
    Thanks!

  • Windows 7 crashes seconds after booting up.

Windows 7 is crashing everytime I boot up into it.  I'm on a Mac Pro 2010 (MacPro5,1) with OS 10.7 Lion.  The installation goes fine through Boot Camp Assistant, but after the "Windows Support Software" (Boot Camp drivers), downloaded through the Boot Camp Assistant and burned to a disk, installs and restarts, Windows 7 crashes.  Any ideas?
I've spoken to Apple support twice.  First time the advice was to reinstall everything including the BOOTCAMP partition.  I did that.  Windows 7 runs just fine until the "Windows Software Support" drivers are installed.  The second time I call to Apple support I'm told there is no solution for this.  He said maybe I could just install the drivers manually and not install the ones I don't need and see if that helps.

I think there is some misunderstanding as to what is happening, when, and also why.
Pull all the drives other than the one Windows will be installed to.
To install Windows 7, nothing is needed.
Boot Camp Assistant included, unless you really want to share a drive with Mac OS on it also.
Nothing will get installed until after Windows is installed, and that is when Apple drivers are needed - except in some few cases (USB-DVD, MacBook Air, a trouble booting from a Windows DVD otherwise).
A Mac Pro does not need assistance booting Windows 7. It is as close as can be to a stock PC workstation.
Boot Camp from 10.6 work fine.
There has not been a tech note I've been able to find as to what BC 4.0 offers, maybe able to 'work around" the presence of the Lion Recovery partition - which itself is optional unless using FileVault2, and can be on another disk drive than the primary boot drive.
After Windows is installed is when you need to provide hardware drivers; Apple TimeServices; and others. You still will need ATI and Realtek after that.
