Trouble reinstalling stickies.app
I recently accidentally deleted my stickies app that came with my macbook thinking it was a third party dashboard widget. So far I have downloaded Pacifist in an attempt to find the app on my install disc, but with no success. I am not sure which disc to run on pacifist or where to look on the disc for the stickies app. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Ok found it.
It was on the OS install DVD. I had to click the "Open all Apple Install Discs" instead of dragging the disc into Pacifist. After I searched Stickies.app like you said. Then I dragged the Stickies.app to the desktop and extracted. Now I have it back! Thanks

Hello All,
I am a first time visitor/user of this forum.
Recently I reinstalled my Leopard OS and updated that online. I am using 10.5.8. I inadvertently mangled my Stickies in the new operating system by replacing the new Stickies application with the Stickies application from an older system (in an attempt to retain the previous stickies notes). I have since learned that I probably should have just simply exchanged the new StickiesDatabase with the old one that was saved in my Library. Now the problem is that because I saved an old Stickies application in my new applications list, the Stickies application does not open at all. Instead, when I try to open Stickies, I see a message that the older version that I replaced them with cannot be used with OS10.
I tried in vain to locate an updated stickies. I still have the original Leopard installation disc, but I have not figured out how to access only the bundled applications to reinstall the Stickies application. It also looks like there is no Stickies application that is downloadable directly from the Apple website.
What a mess.
Any direction will be so appreciated. I keep so much of my day to day info on theses Stickies that I find it hard to function without the old Stickies notes.

Q9How to Use Pacifist to Replace Deleted or Missing OS X Components
Insert the OS X Installer DVD into the optical drive. Use a simple utility like TinkerTool to toggle invisibility so you can see invisible items. Alternatively, open the Terminal application in your Utilities folder and at the prompt enter the following:
defaults write com.apple.finder AppleShowAllFiles Yes
Press RETURN.
To turn off the display of invisible files repeat the above command substituting No for Yes.
The install packages are located in the /System/Installation/ folder on the DVD.
Download the shareware utility Pacifist from VersionTracker or MacUpdate. Use it to extract a fresh copy of the missing item(s) from the file archives on your OS X installation DVD. The file archives are in the /System/Installations/ folder (use Go to Folder option in the Go menu of the Finder.)
Here are Four Basic ways to use Pacifist (courtesy of George Orville.)
A. Drag a .pkg icon onto the Pacifist window .....proceed to step 7.
B. Click on “Open Package ....” and navigate to package desired and click “Open” in the open/save window.....proceed to step 7.
C. Insert Mac OS X installer CD and when it mounts, navigate to .... Menu->Go->Go to Folder.
In the path field enter or paste ....
/Volumes/disc name/System/Installation/Packages (where disc name is the name of the CD/DVD that you inserted.
• Click on the "Go" button .....
• Drag a .pkg to Pacifist..... proceed to step 7.
The package you'll need will have to be discovered by trial and error, but for most applications you should start with the Essentials.pkg and/or Additional Essentials.pkg.
D. Insert your Mac OS X install disk 1 .... and open Pacifist.
1. In Pacifist, select "Open Mac OS X Install Packages" ... dialog may appear asking for disk 2, then disk 3 and finally disk 1 again.... {if DVD is not used)...If “Stop Loading” is selected...the procedure will stop!!!
2a. When loading is complete, a new window appears, click the triangle to display contents of each package...Select item and proceed to step 7.
2b. or click the “Find” icon in the Pacifist window and type the name of the software you need.
3. In the list that comes back, click the top most entry for the item that you want. ..... that is the one for the English language.
4. On the top of the Pacifist window, click “verify” .... you will probably be prompted for your password.
5. Enter checks for.... “verify permissions” and “verify file contents.” and click “verify” ....enter password when prompted.... you will get back output which may look like this:
20 files were scanned.
20 of 20 files were present on the hard disk.
0 of 20 files had file permissions that did not match those specified in the package.
0 of 20 files had checksums that did not match those specified in the package.
6. Click “close”. Go to step 7.
Extract or Install........
7. In the Toolbar (upper left), you now have the option to extract or install. Click a file in the lower list and those two icons will be enabled.
8. If “Extract to...” is selected.... navigate to the location where the file will be placed, select “choose”, select “extract” in new dialog that appears,authenicate , if prompted, click “OK”.
9. In the next dialog, click “Extract”.
10. If “Install” is selected... dialog will appear with the location/path of the installed software. Click “Install”
11. Type in your password, click “OK”
• Pacifist will begin to extract files.
12. In steps 8/10ß.... you also have the choice to “cancel”
Notes.....
• Pacifist may find that a file it is installing already exists on the hard disk. Pacifist will present you with an alert panel....
Stop
Leave original alone
Update ..... Default selection
Replace .... Replace option should only be used on full install packages -
i have even tried by reinstalling the app and also restarting my iphone as well.. but failed.

This is a known bug affecting a small amount of users running version 1.01 of the app. We have submitted a fix to the App Store and we're now waiting for approval.
If you could please email [email protected], we may be able to talk you through a workaround until the update is live.

I was trying to save a document or what I thought was a document in a stickie & really do not understand what it was & exactly when I did it or why I did it but I dragged it onto the stickies app & all of a sudden Stickies did not work anymore. I tried to reverse what I did but I could not & I did not seek help. Often I screw up & try to research reverse brain ****. So I deleted the app all together. I know it is somewhere on my macbook Pro but can not find it.
Could someone please tell me where & how to get it back.
Please keep in mind that I am still new to mac's & recovering HP constant repair PC Addict Survivor. I downloaded Photoshop CC but I start experiencing trouble, so un-istalled Creative Cloud and Photoshop CC. I then reinstalled Creative Cloud but I am not having trouble reinstalled Photoshop CC. Nothing seems to be working, it just shows me that Photoshop is up to date and ready to use and its not installed on my computer anywhere.

After updating my iPad 2 to ios7, my kindle cloud reader will not open. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app but it still won't open.
I am experiencing the same thing. My Kindle cloud reader (icon/shortcut placed on my iPad screen) was working fine before I updated to ios7. I can go to Amazon's website and directly log into the cloud reader and it works fine, but when I make a copy/shortcut onto my iPad's screen (from Safari), and try to login, the login screen just sits there doing nothing. I can even put in a false username and password, hit enter, and the login screen just sits there. Knowing that Apple has made life as difficult as it can for Amazon/Kindle ( demanding outrageous fees for user to purchase books directly through the Kindle app), I wonder if the ios7 was designed to give kindle cloud readers trouble. Note, you could always login to the cloud reader directly from the amazon site, purchase the books, then use the actual kindle reader ( where thanks to Apple you can't purchase books) to read the books.

Hi folks....
I have trolled the threads for a Stickies problem related to mine, and although there are some similar, I couldn't find exactly the same gremlin, nor the antedote.
I am running the stickies app, not from the dashboard.
It had been set to startup on startup, but I have since negated that feature.
Stickies will open up ok, but when I move the cursor over top of any of the stickies, I get the beachball.... I cannot access them
Stickies will appear along my widgets, but not along the top in the "Apple"/ menu bar.
The only option I have is to force quit.
I have pulled the .com.apple.Stickies.plist from my preferences folder to the desktop, as suggested for another problem, but to no avail.
Any suggestions would be a great help, and I apologize if this question has been answered elsewhere.

1. Your Stickies database may be corrupted. Stickies notes are saved in the StickiesDatabase file is in your Home > Library folder.
Quit Stickies if it is open, then drag the StickiesDatabase file to your desktop. Launch Stickies. If Stickies then performs nominally, then your StickiesDatabase file is corrupted: you must either restore it from a backup or recreate your Stickies notes.
The notes are saved as plain text within the file: it may be possible to open the file in TextEdit as the corruption may be due to a parameter in the database vs. the database file itself. This may facilitate recreating your notes if you do not have a backup.
2. You wrote: "Stickies will appear along my widgets, but not along the top in the "Apple"/ menu bar."I am unable to understand what you mean here. Are you stating that the menu bar for the Stickies application does not display when Stickies is launched, e.g.

3. The Stickies application itself might be corrupted. After launching or force-quitting Stickies, check the ends of these Console logs for clues, specifically messages related to Stickies. If you find such messages, post them for review: just the messages related to Stickies, not the entire logs.
4. As a general checkup, run the procedure specified in my "Resolving Disk, Permission, and Cache Corruption" FAQ. Perform the steps therein in the order specified.
5. If all else fails, or if you find messages citing NIB-related problems with the Stickies app in step 3, which would indicate the application is corrupted, then you can reinstall Stickies from your Tiger Install DVD (or Software Restore DVD if your Mac shipped with Tiger) using the shareware application Pacifist. Pacifist has excellent usage instructions, so you should have no problems with it. Then reapply the Combo Update corresponding to the version of Mac OS X you are using to pick up any changes to Stickies since it shipped on the disc.

I am having trouble installing the apps after downloading Adobe Creative Cloud. The following Error messages show up:

I turned off my phone and when I turned it back on, all my apps were deleted. I tried to reinstall my apps, but it wouldn't let me. My storage still remained the same even though, all my apps were deleted. How can I get my apps back?
Hold the home and power button down until your phone restarts. If that doesn't work, backup and restore using iTunes.

i downloaded the wal mart app for my i phone a while back. i just recently tried to use it. when it asked me to log in, i realized i did not have a user id or password.i tried to set up one and it gave me an error message stating the e-mail i was using was already linked to an account. i tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app.it did not give me the icon to install the app, but the cloud icon popped up.i selected it and my girlfriends name comes up on my phone with my e-meil attached. i was able to set it up with a different e-mail, but i do not like using that e-mail because im so used to using my hotmail account for everything. what do i have to do to unshare all info between our phones and i-cloud? I WOULD LIKE TO AT LEATS HAVE ONE THING PRIVATE THAT WE DO NOT HAVE TO SHARE!!!

It sounds like that your email is associated to another Apple ID. You may want to check her Apple ID at applid.apple.com, and see if your email is linked to it.

I desperately need your help. I was working on iMovie last night when the thing froze up on me. I've tried rebooting. I've tried reinstalling the apps. No change. I can play some of the files- although I can't tell which ones will play until they magically appear. I can't get into the project library or the event library. The bar that lets me scroll through the clips is gone. Even when I can get something to play the whole system crashes after a couple of minutes and generates a "problem report" that says "iMovie Quit Unexpectedly". This all started when I was adding cutaways- and one clip just would not load. After I tried several times everything froze up. Have you ever heard of something like this? Maybe I pushed a button or somehow changed a setting? Maybe some of the video is corrupt? What do you recommend?
Thanks for any advice you can offer!I have tried all the above and nothing seems to work. Any other suggestions?

Suggest you update all these apps on iTune (computer) and sync them to your iPad.

I have been able to use my remote app from my iPad4 and my iPhone 5 until recently. I can connect and the tap to select works fine. But the app stopped responding to hand gesutres to navigate the ATV screen. All my software is updated to the latest versions. I deleted the app from my iPda and reloaded it from the app store. I turned off all my devices, including my router before reinstalling the app. I did not unplug the ATV. The app will activate the ATV and tapping menu brings me to the main screen but I cannot navigate the screen at all.
It reboots it but unplugging can also rectify communication issues like this. A restore would be the next step.
