Trouble Reinstalling the Original OS on my Ibook G4

A few weeks ago I downloaded and installed software using software update. After installation, my ibook would no longer boot up. So, I inserted my original software CDs that came with the computer and I am trying to do a clean install of the original software. It starts installing, and then mid-way, it stops and gives me the "There were errors installing the software, please restart". It has done this several times, and even though I have used the disk utility to verify the hard drive, repair permissions, erase the hard drive, etc., the software still will not load. I then tried using my Tiger upgrade CD. The same thing happens, I get the message "there were errors installing the software". Anyone know what the issue is here? Is this a hardware problem? I am trying to install the software again right now, and after about five minutes of installation, the screen just went black and the machine turned off. Thanks

It is version 10.3.9, the original CD's that came with the computer. I finally got it to load these, but I get the same error when I try to load 10.4 Tiger. Won't let me upgrade to Tiger.
I do have the hardware test CD, and I will try using it now. The ATA drive is the original one. This computer has been used for travel, and although it has about four years on it, it does not have tons of hours of use. It first gave me problems after trying to update software a few weeks ago. I erased the hard drive several times.

There is no download for the software. The factory software that you are looking for is called ilife. It is all of the software that would have came preinstalled with your mac on your original hard drive when you first bought it. You will have to get new software on your computer. This might actually be a great opurtunity to upgrade to Lions. Search the Lions software in the mac store and it will come up. Click add to cart and check out. The price for it is $20. I defientely recomend Lions, it has alot of new great features. Then wate for the install disk to come in the mail. when it come just pop it in and follow the step by step instructions. If you dont want to upgrade to lions however you can download the ilife package from apple.com for a small price. Hope this helps.

Just be aware that none of this will matter if you are using a newer version of e.g. Acrobat that by ways of updates may introduce/ have introduced an incompatible version of one of the PDF libraries commonly shared and used by all Adobe programs. you have to tread lightly and be careful...

MacPro (2009) isn't working after I tried to reinstall the original OS. I was previously using Mavericks before I reinstalled the original OS.

My MacPro (2009) was running on Mavericks OS and I was having some issues with it so I tried to reinstall the original OS X which came with the laptop and then I was going to upgrade it back to Mavericks. In the process of doing so, the computer isn't working properly anymore. The install of the original OS X worked just fine and then I installed the Applications CD which came with the computer (iPhoto, Garage Band, etc.). Once the applicaiton install CD finished (which was sucessful), it prompted me to restart the computer. After restarting the computer I was unable to open anything (Safari, Calendar, iTunes, etc). So I tried to restart the computer and now it won't even being me to the login screen. I have tried to restart the computer several times and it just shows a blue screen and never brings me to the log in screen so that I can continue upgrading it to Snow Leopard and then to Mavericks.
Please help. I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Boot an external Mavericks USB disk, wipe, and install, and see if Mavericks works. (There've been reports of problems with some Mac systems; of attempts at downgrades that didn't work.)
It's also possible that the original and unspecified issues with Mavericks were being triggered by a hardware problem, and the underlying problem is becoming increasingly pervasive.
If the Mavericks problems were potentially triggered by hardware, then load and run the hardware diagnostics for the Mac Pro, and see where that gets you.

My hard drive crashed, and I cannot reinstall the original OS that came with my macbook pro?

I bought my macbook pro (mid 2012 version) 10 months ago and it's been working fine up until now (running on Yosemite). When I opened the lid today, a flashing question mark appeared on the screen. I restarted my mac while holding the option key. I tried to do an internet reinstall but I can't get it to work. When I try to reinstall the OS that came with my mac, there are no options for me to click when asked to select a disk.
I have tried following instructions from multiple threads about how to change the disk utility.
Options on the lefthand side: "disk0" and "mac OS X base system". Options on the right: disk0 - first aid, erase, partition, and restore. Mac OS X base system - first aid, erase, restore.
None of the solutions I've found online are working for me. Most of the options in the disk utility menu are greyed out, so I can't click on them.
Sorry for any typos, it is hard to type this all out on my phone. I have tried to upload pictures, but it doesn't seem to be working. I also apologize if this is in the wrong category.

What are the *smw files? Will they reinstall the original applications of my Toshiba laptop?

I did a clean installation of Windows 7 (64 bits) in my E105-S1402. I installed the Toshiba Software Installer for Windows 7 and I got the drives and updates from it.

I was trying to reinstall the software that was preinstalled in the laptop or in the recovery discs (for example the software for watching DVD movies, etc...) so I thought that Toshiba Software Installer would reinstall those applications but it did not do it Then I inserted the second DVD of the recovery discs in the laptop's DVD drive and I saw: preinst6.smw, preinst7.smw..... preinst11.smw I guess that they are the applications that were installed in my computer before but I am not sure.
If I click in any of these files then will I be able to reinstall the preinstalled applications?
Does anybody what these *.smw files are?

Have you tried putting the first disc in while in Windows? It may bring up an option menu to install applications and drivers and a recovery option.

How can I remove the OS X Yosemite and reinstall the original Snow Leopard?

If you made a Time Machine backup or bootable clone of Snow Leopard, restore it onto a blank partition or drive. If not, insert a Mac OS X install DVD, restart with the C or Option key held down, and install it onto a blank partition or drive.
To erase or repartition the internal drive, use the Disk Utility, which is accessible from the Utilities folder(choose it from the Finder's Go menu) or when booted to the DVD or recovery partition.

PalmVx Only Memo comes up when I reinstall the original disk on Windows XP

How do I get the other data to move into the Palm Desktop? I have moved the files from another place to the place under my use name, but only the memos will come up on the desktop. How do I get to see the rest. Addresses and Dates are most important?

Has anyone had any trouble reinstalling the their adobe products?

I have to finish my homework in flash by midnight but after my upgrade to Windows 8, it has been a long tiring process to figure a way to do my homework tonight.
I was just wanted to know if anyone had this same problem, or do I just have issues and totally over thinking a sinple solution.

If you bought Lion from the App Store, you can't legally or practically transfer it, because it's tied to your Apple ID. Reinstall the original software from the discs that came with the machine.

How do I revert to the original printer driver?

Just got a new Macbook Pro 15". I have a Canon MP780, and figured I'd try to update the printer & scanner driver for this printer. Downloaded and installed it, but now many of the printer option are struck-out in the Copies & Pages pop-down, and choosing one of these options says (c) Canon 2001-2004. Obviously, I've installed older drivers over new ones... how can I reinstall the original driver that came with my MBP?

The strike-through is a result of using a PPC driver on an Intel Mac. What you need to do is download the Universal Binary driver for this model. Looking at the Canon Aussie web site there is a v4.1.9 for OS X, which I believe is Universal (the post date shows Jan 2007). Before installing v4.1.9 you will need to remove the version currently installed (BTW - there wouldn't have been any drivers for this model included with your MBP, unless someone ran this up for you). Following is a procedure for removing the old and installing the new;
1. Open Printer Setup Utility, click on Printer Setup Utility and select Reset Printing System.
2. Close the Printer Setup Utility.
3. Go to Library > Printers > Canon and delete the contents of the BJPrinters folder.
4. Go to Library > Receipts and delete the file Canon MP780 xxx.pkg
5. Empty the Trash
6. Restart the Mac
7. Install version 4.1.9 of the Canon driver
8. Once the driver installation is complete, go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Run the Repair Disk Permissions option.
9. Open Printer Setup Utility and click Add.
10. Select the Default Browser view and select the Canon printer connected via the USB port. The Print Using menu should automatically change to Canon IJ Printer.
11. Click Add to add the printer.

i installed adobe flash plug in from there website, and then when it was using more processing power than normal i removed it.
im now left without a flash plugin for safari, how do i reinstall the original one?

You should first uninstall any previous version of Flash Player, using the uninstaller from here (make sure you use the correct one!):

and also that you follow the instructions closely, such as closing ALL applications first before installing. You must also carry out a permission repair after installing anything from Adobe.
