Trouble reloading older version of Lightroom while awaiting LR4

I had to reformat my computer the other day. I have ordered LR4 and it should arrive in a couple of days. In the meantime, I am trying to reload Lightroom 2 from the disk I purchased a number of years ago. It seems to load fine, but never asks me my serial number . When I try to run it, all I get is a small thumbnail on my bottom task bar and then nothing. Any suggestions? I also tried going through my catalogue backups and opening them through Lightroom that way. Same response. Thanks.

And what oeprating system are we talking about? What computer? Do you correctly run the install and first run with sufficient privileges and security tools turned off? Sounds like it simply hangs on the activation and license agreement and draws the stuff somewhere invisibly due to permission ofr graphics problems...

Is it possible to import a Lightroom 3 Catalog into an older version of Lightroom?

I shoot for a couple other photographers and provide them the files. My workflow has been to import the RAW files into Lightroom 3, make selections and basic adjustments, then export my selections/adjustments as a catalog so that they can make any additional adjustments they want (cropping, color/contrast, renaming, etc) while still working with the RAW files. One of my clients is working with an older version of Lightroom (LR2) and cannot import the catalog because of a version error. Is there something I can do when exporting to make my catalog readable by the older version? Thanks!

LR3 Catalogs cannot be read by LR2.
For the person who has LR2, you would have to provide him/her with exported TIFFs.

Do you at least have the serial-numbers for them? Did you buy discs or download them? What versions, specifically?
If you purchased them as downloads from Adobe, they may be available under My Purchases (or whatever it is called, exactly) if you log into www.adobe.com and check the My Account area, then look at the products you’ve purchased.

Older versions of Lightroom?

I have upgraded to Lightroom 5, do I still need the older versions of Lightroom or can I delete them from my computer?

You do not need to retain the older versions if you do not want them available.

Trouble installing older version of Photoshop Elements on Windows 8.1

I'm having trouble installing an old version of Photoshop Elements (I have no need to upgrade) on Windows 8.1 - it keeps saying I need Internet Explorer 4.0 or above, though I have IE 11. I've tried the regedit fix mentioned here: Elements needs version 4 or newer of Internet Explorer to install? but it doesn't seem to be working - the default was already C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE, and the Path was C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer; - I changed it to C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer: but that made no difference. I can't uninstall IE 11 from Windows 8.1, or install an older version.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks.

I used an IEXPLORE.EXE from internet explorer 7 and set the registry path to that.
Then provided your hard drive doesn't have more than 1 TB of free space, photoshop elements 1 should install and run on windows 8.1
Don't forget to set the registry paths back to what they were originally.

Need older version of lightroom (4?) due to having an older Mac

i would really like to buy & download lightroom, but my mac only has osx version 10.6.8. Therefore, lightroom 5 won't install on it. I need the program ASAP and would be fine with version 4 for now... But I can't find a version 4 available to buy on this site. I've tried Amazon and eBay but nothing is available to download at this time. Any advice on how I can get this program? You would think adobe would make it readily available for those who have older computer, but would like to buy and use their products.

Adobe only sells current versions of their software.
You can download a trial version of Lightroom 4 (it'll work for 30 days) but you cannot buy a LR4 serial number from Adobe any more.

How can I install multiple versions of Firfox, and block the older versions from updating while allowing one version to continue updating?

I need to have several versions of FF installed for training and testing purposes, but I can't keep older versions from updating. All versions will auto-update regardless of setting auto-update to off or suggest.

and activate with your serial number.
if you have a download problem, you didn't follow all 7 steps. typically, failure to meticulously follow steps 1,2 and/or 3 is the problem, but your browser must also allow cookies so that's (a restrictive browser setting) another potential source of problems.

Trouble uninstalling older version of Bonjour

Hello. I use Windows XP Pro. I was reinstalling Quicktime with Itunes and Itunes stops installing when it tries to download the latest Bonjour. It wants me to uninstall my previous version of Bonjour. I can't seem to get a previous version of Bonjour uninstalled so Itunes will download the new version. When I go to my control panel and then add/remove programs and click to remove Bonjour, the install wizard comes up for a second and then stops everytime. I wanted to try at least repairing it in this case and then uninstalling it but how can I do that? I tried removing Bonjour from my program files too and it comes up with a box saying: "Error deleting file or folder, cannot delete mdnsNSP:Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use." How do I get Bonjour out of my computer?

I am having this same issue. I have been able to uninstall all Apple components including Qtime but this bonjour directory and contents are locked and not accessable. This all occured after an interupted installation of your latest rev iTunes software 7.6.2.9

Can I install an older version of Lightroom?

I bought the Creative Cloud deal but can't install Lightroom 5 because I have Windows Vista. Is there a way to get Lightroom 4 with it instead?

On Windows XP, when I switch to Lightroom 4.4, I do get a button which says Download Lightroom 4.4.
However clicking that button gives the following message
You are running an operating system that Lightroom no longer supports. Refer to the system requirements below for a full list of supported platforms.
That message is correct for XP.
But if you're running Vista, I would expect the download the start. Have you tried different browsers?

Lightroom reverted back to older version

I am using lightroom 2.7 and it hung up on me (as it does quiet often) and I had to close it use the end program command. when I reopened it, it looks like it has reverted to an older version of lightroom (I think 2.0)   it is showing me old catalogs that I have removed from my hard drive a year or so ago and none of my current catalogs are there.
   The start up screen looks different and the window that shows upon start up keeps popping up. I tried to open a current client that I had been working on and lightroom wants to re-import the files like they were never there. plus the entire program is not working properly.
any idea what has happend or how can I get back to the version I was using

I looked for the file you mentioned and found two of them
if you can't read the photo the files are named - Lightroom 2 catalog ircat .lock
I'm not clear about booting lightroom from the newer catalog? would it be this file?
if you can't read it it is called LIghtroom 2 catalog .ircat   and the file is 1.27 GB in size

Background graphics and link icons do not display even after downgrading flash, emptying cache, reinstalling recent and older versions of firefox

sometime today, firefox 14 began not displaying the background graphics and link icons on every site I went on from my laptop. It would display this information when I changed the rendering engine to the explorer platform. I have removed the flash player 11.3 from the computer; re-installed flash 10.3 recommended from the troubleshooting page; restarted the computer; same problem. Did the same with the Java plug-in with the same result. Disabled all extensions and restarted Firefox with no change. Examined the sites on a different laptop using version 10 of Firefox and everything worked fine! Reloaded older version of Firefox on original laptop, restarted computer, same problem on older version. Updated to latest revision, listed below, and same problem. Went to desktop computer using version 14, and same thing is happening there also. (I have not done anything to this system yet.)

All of the items contained in both of the reference documents were already active on each system. I have created a zip file with four screen capture pictures showing what I'm dealing with. The first picture shows what the site looked like yesterday morning; the second shows what happened when I refreshed the screen this morning; the third shows what happened when I switched the rendering engine on the same tab this morning; the fourth shows what happen when the tab was switched back to original rendering engine. Please consider this for a moment: I am having to answer these questions from you using my iPad because the graphics at the top of this window which control the type-input will not display in Firefox while the post buttons will.
