Trouble rendering audio in Final Cut Pro HD

Hello everyone, I am a student working on a video for school and currently I'm running into a problem which with my fairly limited experience with Final Cut, I am unable to solve. For some reason the audio in my timeline isn't rendering. When I press play it gives me the beeping sound that tells me it's unrendered. But when I go to render it, it briefly flashes a dialog box but the audio still remains unrendered. I'm not certain what exactly the program is or isn't doing or what's causing it to behave this way, if anyone has any suggestions on how to fix it I would be greatly appreciative.

Trash your preferences for FCP, and give it another go... recheck the settings above after you restart FCP.
http://fcprescue.andersholck.com/ will help with the preferences trashing...

  • Can I mute all audio from Final Cut Pro X?

Can I mute all audio from Final Cut Pro X so that I can listen to music while I do sorting, keywording, favoriting, etc? I'm doing a video where all the camera audio won't be used anyways, so I don't need to hear it in FCPX.. I'd rather just listen to my music instead. Thanks.

For clips in the timeline, andynick's suggestion works fine - temporarily disable the audio roles will play everything without audio and you just have to reenable these roles later.
For clips in the Event Browser, you can also disable and reenable audio for a bunch of clips all at once. Select the all the clips you want, open the inspector, click the audio tab and uncheck the box (for "stereo" or "mono" or whatnot) under "Channel Configuration". Again, to reenable just check this box again.

Thank you Russ! Seems as though the timestamp on my audio files was completely incorrect so it placed the files far away from the corresponding video. I've modified the timestamp information and this has helped. The hour/minute information is incorrect but at least now I'm in the ballpark. Thank you!

  • Mixing 5.1 audio in final cut pro

    Hello,
Looking for good sources on mixing 5.1 audio in final cut pro.
    Thanks,
    joe

You don't. You use Soundtrack Pro for this.  FCP is a picture editor...not sound editor.  You need to use a sound editor to mix 5.1 audio.
Look in the manual...best place to start.

  • Help serious Audio rendering issues within final cut pro

    Hello
I have some serious audio issues I am using Final cut 6.05. Here is my problem I am putting a AUParametricEq filter on my audio due wind noise etc. Anyway when i play it back on the time line it plays fine no problems but as soon final cut renders the file say for mastering to tape. at some point at the audio the audio goes all haywire, popping sounds or the audio just repeats it self at one frame or i can here audio from other parts of the timeline. And it just happened before i never had the issue. Is it the update. Hope anybody can help as I need to master about 6 projects to tape to clean my harddrives and all 6 projects have the same issue.

Are your audio files AIFF 48K 16 bit?
In regard to trashing preferences you can download Jon's Prefence manager at this site
    http://www.digitalrebellion.com/pref_man.htm
    The Old School method follows
    Trashing preferences and repairing permissions.
    Close Final Cut Pro.
    Go to: Users/your user name/Library/Preferences.
    Drag, "com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist" to the trash.
Scroll down to the Final Cut Pro User Settings folder.
Drag, "Final Cut Pro 6 Preferences" to the trash.
Drag, "Final Cut Pro Obj Cache" to the trash
Drag, "Final Cut Pro POA Cache" to the trash.
    Go to: Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
    Select your system disk
Click on the Repair Permissions button
Wait for the permissions to be repaired
    Restart your computer

  • Audio from Final Cut Pro very very low

Hi guys I have not have a problem for awhile. A friend of mine recently move from DPS Velocity system to Final Cut Pro Studio 2 using a Intel Pro 3.2GHZ with all the bell and whistle, so I am giving him some training and tutorial. They have some footage in Velocity which I use MPEG StreamClip to convert to a DV file, I brought it in FCP (Three File one video and two audio makes one clip) it play in FCP Played ok when I export it to DVD studio Pro the audio is extremely low (barely audio able)I open the clip in QuickTime and it did not play. There is other clip in the project, some capture in FCP and others imports in FCP Studio, DVD Studio Pro and QuickTime plays these audio ok. The audio from Velocity are Wave files, I taught anyfile that plays in FCP would play in QuickTime. Does anyone knows how to solve this problem please to help I would like my friend to change both system to Apple and FCP thanks.

    Wellcome to the forums!
when I export it to DVD studio Pro the audio is extremely low (barely audio able)I open the clip in QuickTime and it did not play.
I guess you encoded it to Dolby AC3 with Compressor, did you? Then you must chamge the standard Dolby preset as follows to keep the original FCP mix and level:
    - Dialog normalization: -31
    - Compression preset: none
And QT cannot play AC3 files.
    Hope that helps !

  • Should I Render Video-Audio in Final Cut Pro or Compressor?

The last time I read-up on this it was concluded I should trash/empty all my FCP project Audio/Video render files, then Export FCP>Compressor for best quality Mpeg2 and Audio compression.
What is current, render both in FCP6 or trash all and let Compressor 3.0.5 do it all?
    Or it doesn't matter anymore?
    Basic workflow:
Sony PD150, SD 4;3 into Final Cut Pro 6.0.5 Timeline.
Work on video and audio filters for adjustments.
    Export to Compressor?
I am then bringing the Best Quality 90 min MPEG-2 and DolbyDP2 into DVD Studio Pro.
    Thanks...

I did it both ways and can't see any difference.
The only reason I revisited the question is because my first, second and third MPEG2 runs through Compressor 3.05 (using both methods) looked like krap — very blotchy in areas and pixely halos around moving subjects.
They were unusable (like Compressor 2x was) so I was worried.
For some reason the problem cleared and it looks acceptable now.
I don't think it makes any difference which method you use is my conclusion.

  • How do I overlap audio in Final Cut Pro X?

Sorry, I'm totally new with Final Cut Pro X and need to do one specific thing. I'm probably missing something blatantly obvious but I've looked around on the web and inside obvious placed in FCP and haven't found it.
I need to do this: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2260?viewlocale=en_US
I've looked in the precision editor, however the audio just doesn't extend. I'm hoping that I can get answers here.

Double click the audio portion to expand the clip. Drag the audio to create the split edit. Double click the audio to collapse it.

  • Syncing audio in Final Cut Pro X doesn't create a compound clip

I just had a quick question that hopefully someone can help me with. I was shooting some video with my Canon t3i the other day, and I record audio into a Zoom H1. I imported all of my audio and video into Final Cut Pro X and I wanted to syncronize the clips, so I chose the video and the correct audio to go with it, and I right clicked them, and chose syncronize clips.
Now, my question. On every example I've seen of this, syncronizing two clips creates a compound clip which would be great, but when I choose syncronize clip, it just creates a new clip of the video with both audio files apart of the video. It's not a compound clip at all, it's just a video file with two audio channels, one with the cameras audio, the other with the Zoom H1 audio. When I go to shut off the cameras audio channel and just leave the Zoom H1 audio, my video starts to skip and just goes black, yet the audio plays fine...
I guess I'm just looking for help, is there something wrong that I am doing when I am trying to sync these clips? Are there certain file settings that I should have? My video is recorded in 1080p with 24fps, the audio is recorded in WAV format. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

After opening in TL and expanding sudio components.

  • Audio Levels Final Cut Pro Express

I have the latest ver of Final Cut Pro Express. The audio on the time line shows just a straight line indicating the audio level. I would like to see the actual audio waveform on the time line. I went into the preferences menu and checked the box that read "show waveform on timeline", but that didn't correct the problem. I still have a straight line audio level. Any ideas anyone?

Cmd is the Command key, the Apple key. It works if there is audio in the timeline that has a waveform, if the timeline is the active window, and if you wait a moment for the waveform to be drawn. You can also do it with the little popup triangle in the lower left of the timeline window near the track height buttons.

  • Trouble burning DVD in Final Cut Pro X (stops at 66%)

I have been trying to burn a DVD on Final Cut Pro 10.1.4, but I find that it always stops the burning process at 66%.  An error does not pop up; it just simply stops at the same place every time.  I have tried burning different projects of different lengths, I have tried updating Final Cut, I've restarted the computer, and multiple other things that I've seen others have said worked for them, but every time it always stops at 66%.  I have been able to burn about 6 or 7 DVDs successfully before this problem started happening, but now I can't get a single one to work.
I seen where some said that this was a common problem in Final Cut when FCP X will hand the job to Create Disc to actually start the burn process, but I don't know how to fix it.
I've tried so many different processes to make it work; could someone please help!

Thank you for the reply!  I've been trying to burn each disk without an image for the menu, but I actually even seen where someone had said just to go into it and add a small picture for the background and then delete it and then hit share and that might get it to work. I've tried doing that multiple times, and it hasn't made a difference.  It still stops at 66%.   I didn't know if there was anything else I could try that might fix it.
