Trouble resetting my IPad from factory settings

Upon retiring from work I changed my Apple ID from my work to my home email and established a new password.  In resetting my IPad from the "factory settings" I signed in under the new Apple ID and password. I then asked to download the latest information I backed up to the cloud.  However, my old Apple ID keeps coming up and asking for the password that is associated with that Apple ID.  I do not remember the password and no longer have access to that email account.  How do I fix this?

You have to change your Apple ID to match your new email.

  • I have had to reset my iPad to factory settings and lost iTunes

    Question: how can I retrieve my iTunes, mad configure across all 3 pieces of kit.
    I have had to reset my iPad 2 to factory settings, and in so doing lost iTunes and photos.
    This has been a very long term issue with my Icloud account. It's never worked on my mac notebook, iPad nor recently purchased iPhone 4.
    This issue has been compounded by bad advice from Apple Helpine who is insisted I recreate an Apple ID using a gmail account.
    A meeting at a Genius Bar discredited this advice and promised to send me an email explaining how to get, retrieve my mac e address, that email did not arrive.
    In desperation I have had to reset my iPad, reset my ID and at least iCloud is now working for the first time.
    However I suspect the iTunes is now attached to the gmail account, which I do not wish to receive.

  • After resetting my IPad to factory settings, how can I reset to my most recent ICloud backup?

    I have reset to factory setting on my IPad and would like to restore to my most recent backup setting on ICloud. How can I do this?  Do i need to delete everything before I see the Setup Assistant option?

    Yes. You have to erase the device in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings.

  • I cannot get the verification email to arrive in my inboxes and when I choose the security question options it tells me my birthdate is incorrect and I know it it not Help trying to reset my iPad to factory settings and keeps asking for a password I can't

    I am trying to put my ipad back to factory settings and it keeps asking for my original Id which is the reason I am needing to reset it.  When I try to do this via password prompts it asks for my date of birth which I enter correctly and it tells me it is incorrect and then trying the email route this does not send any emails to the registered accounts I set up originally - help!!

    My guess is all the issues are probably related and fall back to malware.
    AVG is probably correct in identifying malware. So I suggest you try some cleaning tools other than Emsisoft .
    ones I use (all of them one after the other until I find one that can cope) are;
    Roguekiller http://www.adlice.com/softwares/roguekiller/
    Malwarebytes anti malware Free http://www.malwarebytes.org/mwb-download/var2/confirm/
    ESET online scanner http://www.eset.com/int/home/products/online-scanner/
    So first create a clean boot in Windows using Microsoft's instructions https://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135?wa=wsignin1.0 and then run the anti malware applications.
    My outside looking in guess is that malware has set itself up as an internet proxy and is is downloading copies of itself and other malware, blocking some mail port as times as downloading more malware is more important, and probably breaking your tivo as well..
    Try the malware programs first. If that does not work I will try and talk you through some logging to see what is happening.

  • How do i reset an iPad to factory settings without knowing the passcode?

    We laid off an employee but don't have his passcode to reset the ipad to it's factory settings.  Is there anyway I can do this?  I tried following the directions I found:
    If you don’t know the passcode to go into the ipad and reset it, you simply need to connect the iPad to iTunes.
    Connect your iPad to the USB port on your computer, open iTunes and on the left side of the panel will appear a category for Devices... select the iPad. The summary window will have the information on the iPad and below that the choice for Restore. Select Restore, and you will have to do some confirming usually, and the system will go to work restoring the iPad to the factory settings.
    But it says it won't connect to iTunes until I enter the passcode:  "iTunes could not connect to the iPad ****** because it is locked with a passcode.  You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes."
    Any ideas?
    Marcine

    Put the iPad into Recovery Mode and then try the Restore again:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1808
    If that still doesn't work, as a last resort try DFU mode:

  • Reset my ipad to factory settings

    reset my ipad back to its fartory settings. how do i do this?

    You can erase it completely in Settings>General>Reset>Erase all content and settings or connect it to iTunes with the cable and click on restore in the Summary Pane of iTunes.
    This explains how to use iTunes, but do not restore from a backup at the end of this process.

    You may have to do this several times.
    Saw this solution on another post about an iPad in a school environment. Might work on your iPad so you won't lose everything.

    ‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
    Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
    I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
    Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
    1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
    2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
    3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
    4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
    5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
    6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
    7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
    8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just canceling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
    If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
  • I reset my iPad2 to factory settings now photos will not sync
    I am having trouble with syncing photos to my ipad.  Very strange since I have been using MAC and ipad for several years now.  My ipad 2 (iOS 7.0.4) recently started having troubles synching to my MAC (OSX 10.9.1) so I reset the iPad to factory settings.  I was able to synch apps, music and videos with no problem, but when I click on "photos" (see screenshot below) on the ipad synch tool bar in itunes (11.1.4) all I get is a swirly that never stops.  I am unable to get to the screen where I can synch all photos or just select certain events, albums, faces, etc.  I am using iPhoto 9.5.1.
    Like I said, never had any trouble ever until just now.  I have all my apps, music and videos on my ipad and they work fine.  I still have 13 GB memory left, but cannot get the photos to synch.  Anyone have a remedy?
    Thanks!
    I can't see your screenshot, not that it matters that much. I would be interested to know what the other problems that you allude to are with regard to syncing your iPad, but have you added any photos to iPhoto or created new albums or events? Have you had any issues with iPhoto?
    I assume that you tried quitting iPhoto, iTunes and restarting the Mac?
  • HT1414 I have had to restore my ipad to factory settings and then tried to restore the data from the backup on itunes, but none of my apps have restored - please can anyone help as my daughter is going to go mad if I can't get her games back to where they
    I have had to restore my ipad to factory settings, having made a backup on my pc first. When Ihave tried to restore from my pc I have no apps!! Please can anyone help me get them back with all their data. I don't have wifi at home and I have never been able to sync my pc with my ipad, although it works with my iphone! I copied all of the apps before I restored using itunes, but no idea where they are copied to. Any help would be hugely appreciated to get my daughters games back. Thank you in advance )
    Hi Skydiver119
    Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my problem.
    Yes the purchases were made though my apple id.
    I have looked at a few other questions on this topic and I have read that the app data is stored in the backup file but the apps themselves need to be synced back onto the ipad. Someome has mentioned right clicking on sync my ipad but I don't know where to find that to right click on!! Lol.
    Again, I really appreciate your time and if by any chance you know where I can 'right click' I would really appreciate you letting me know as I can't get my ipad to sync with my pc at all, although it is being picked up in itunes and it has backed up to itunes okay. GGrrr. Maybe I have something wrong in the settings which is not making them compatible?
  • How do I download the music from iTunes onto an old iPhone 3gs? I have reset the iPhone to factory settings and when I plug it in it wants to use the device name for my current iPhone 5 and I don't want to change anything on my old iPhone.
    How do I download the music from iTunes onto an old iPhone 3gs without affecting my iPhone 5? I have reset the iPhone to factory settings and when I plug it in it wants to use the device name for my current iPhone 5 and I don't want to change anything on my current iPhone. iTunes won't let me change the device name for the 3gs. I just want to use the old iPhone like an touch.
    Hi littlemansa,
    If I am understanding you correctly, it sounds like you are returning to an old iPhone that has been erased and you would like to set it up as a new device without restoring from a backup which would affect the name of your iPhone, as well as the contents therein. I have an article for you that can help you set up your iPhone as a new device, and that information can be found below:
    How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups - Apple Support
    http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT4137
    Basically, it seems like you may be stuck on a screen that is asking if you would like to restore your device from the backup that is filed under the name of your new iPhone, or if you would like to set up the device as a new device. I would suggest that you set it up as a new device to achieve your desired results.
    Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.
  • A message saying I had to restore my iPad to factory settings came up, can I recover data from previous back-ups?
    Tonight, a message came up on iTunes came up saying I need to restore my iPad to factory settings came up. Is there any way I can avoid doing a factory restoration? If not, can I recover data from previous backups?
    If you got the message that you need to connect to iTunes, there is no choice now but to restore the iOS software. Yes, you can restore from a backup after you restore the iOS software.
    You can only restore now by connecting to your computer and using iTunes, and at the end of the restore process, you will be asked if you want to restore from your iTunes backup to which you will say yes and then sync your iPad as well. Syncing will transfer all of your apps, music, movie, books, photos etc, back to the device. If you do not backup and sync with iTunes, you can still restore from an iCloud backup after you restore the software in iTunes.
