  • Trouble Restoring iPhone

I am having trouble restoring my iPhone. When I try to restore it, it says I need to update my iPhone first but I have already done so and my iPhone says it is currently up to date. I also just try and dowload the update again to just try it and it comes up with an error and won't finish everytime. Help please!
Also- another question, my iPhone will never finish syncing but will back up the phone. Just says "Waiting for changes to be applied."

This is a simple solution that might help you too, I was having diffficulty restoring my iPhone 5 on the current iTuneson two different computers an iMac and a Macbook Pro, it was basically showing me the same error as you describe so I connected the Macbook Pro on my modem with a network cable!
    1. Turn off the wi-fi
2.connect your Mac or other computer directly with the mode using ethernet (Network Cable)
    3. Connect your iPhone
    4. open iTunes and try restoring
    That should work!
I found it very weird that none of the macs was able to restore it so I decided to try the cable solution and it worked!
I don't know it might be a bug in iTunes that prevent from restoring wirelesly!
I also find apple support is very problematic both online and in the stores!!! Unqulified techs everywhere, such a SHAME!!!

  • Trouble restoring iphone 4 to version 7.0.4

I am not tech savvy.  I have an older iPhone (4) and have never updated it.  I decided to try to update it this afternoon, and once the update had finished I went to restore the phone (I performed a backup prior to updating) and it goes through the whole thing, gives no error, and then it reverts to the "Hello"  "Hola" screen and I have to do the whole thing all over again.  I have now tried 8 times to restore my data from iTunes with no success.  Please help me.
    -Meaghan

Are you sure the update is done?
You can try a reset, hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.

  • Trouble restoring iPhone 3G

My friend asked me to try fix his "washing machined" iPhone 3G. I did some examinations and came to the conclusion that they phone was not water damaged. He said he didn't care what happened to the data on it.
I took the iPhone home and connected it to my dock, which was connected to my charger. The iPhone showed the Apple logo for about 10 seconds and shut off, then it came to life again and turned off again. This repeated in an endless cycle. I then tried without the dock in the equasion and found that I had to hold the power and home buttons for about 10 seconds for the Apple logo to appear on screen, then after about 10 seconds it shut off again and didn't turn on again unless I held the power and home buttons for 10 seconds again
I then connected it to my MacBook. Nothing happened. iTunes (10.6.1) didn't show anything. I put it into DFU mode and it appeared in iTunes telling me I had to restore the device. I hit the restore button and the IPSW file downloaded and when it got to the "Preparing iPhone for Restore" it just loaded in iTunes for about 5 mins, then gave an error (1601). I tried restoring it with the dock in the equasion. Same result. I tried using jailbreaking software to put it into a pwned dfu state but it hanged at the Waiting for iPhone stage. The method of putting it into recovery mode does not work, I held the home button for at least 30 seconds before letting go. I then figured out that I could put it in recovery mode if it was connected to the charger, so after it showed the "Connect to iTunes" screen, I disconected it and the screen instantly shut off.
Could someone please help me, as this is the first major iDevice task I have ever been given, and I want my first one to be the best. I do not mind having to jailbreak the device in the process as long as I can unjailbreak it afterwards and the method does not require putting it into DFU mode and that it does not require the device to be on and functional

  • HT1414 Trouble Restoring iphone 4? Please help

    Hi,
This is a bit of a strange one really. I needed to restore my iPhone 4 in order to enable it to be unlocked from the Orange network so I could begin using another provider. I backed it up to my computer and then restored it which also unlocked it. I then tried to restore it from the backup I had just done but had an error message stating that the backup couldn't be saved on the computer. I since realised that this just meant I didn't have enough disk space on my hard drive. The only place I could find to delete some memory was from the backup folder in app data, roaming, apple computer, mobilesync etc. I deleted a backup which I thought was an old one and that I wouldn't need. When I went back to iTunes to try again, the option to restore from my backup was gone so I had obviously deleted something I needed by mistake. I downloaded some file recovery software and managed to get the backup folder back to it's original place but when I try to restore from this backup again in iTunes, the option still isn't there.
Does anyone know if there is a way of getting around this or anything I can do, because at the moment I have lost all of my contacts and photos which is a bit of a pain.
I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
    Many thanks.

    Hello Lakhan Gaikwad,
It sounds like you are trying to restore your phone but in the middle of the restore, the computer is shutting down unexpectedly. I recommend starting by trying the steps in the following article first:
Resolve iOS update and restore errors in iTunes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts1275
If the issue persists, try checking to see if any 3rd party plugins are installed, that could be causing the issue:
iTunes: Troubleshooting issues with third-party iTunes plug-ins
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3430
If it is still unresolved, what version of Windows is your PC running?

  • Restoring iphone from backup

is anyone else having trouble restoring iphone from backup since 2.0. it worked fine with 1.4 but i have tried it once with 2.0 and once 2.0.1 both times it said my backup was corrupt. this is getting real annoying.

I'm about to just thow my iphone 3G out the window. I cannot upgrade the software without it hanging up and not finishing. Then I am forced to try to restore the phone, and it will not restore. I am taking it to an apple genius again today to get it restored. I have not gotten any information that has helped resolve this issue. I've been on the phone with a tier 1 and tier 2 support person for 4 hours about 3 weeks ago and I'm now in the same boat again. Any info on how to make this work would be greatly appreciated!!

  • Having trouble restoring my iPhone 4s error 1 always persist

Hi Im encountering trouble restoring my iPhone 4s back to its original version 5.0.1.  When I do restore an error 1 pops out of the screen.  please help provide a solution.  Im using a factory unlocked iPhone 4s that is updateable anytime but my problem is one morning when I woke up I saw my phone completely out of power and when I plug it in to my charger, restore mode appears on the screen.  I did several restore but it keeps getting error.  I tried using tiny umbrella to kick it out of restore mode but when it boots up after apple logo appears the spinning wheel never disappear.

Errors 3000-3999 (3004, 3013, 3018, 3164, 3194, and so on): Error codes in the 3000 range generally mean that iTunes can't contact the update server (gs.apple.com) on ports 80 or 443.
Update to the latest version of iTunes.
Verify the computer's date and time are accurate.
Check that your security or firewall software isn't interfering with ports 80 or 443 or with the server gs.apple.com.
Follow these steps to troubleshoot security software. Often, uninstalling third-party security software will resolve these errors.
An entry in your hosts file may be redirecting requests to gs.apple.com (go to "Unable to contact the iOS software update server gs.apple.com" above).
Internet proxy settings can cause this issue. If you're using a proxy, try again without using a proxy.
Test restoring while connected to a known-good network.
Error 3004: If you're using a Mac, you may be able to resolve an error 3004 by quitting iTunes and using the following command in the command line: dscacheutil -flushcache.

  • Trouble with iCloud restore - should I "Stop restoring iPhone"?

I had to replace my iPhone 4 and am restoring from an iCloud backup, but I changed my Apple ID email address just prior to getting iCloud set up. My phone won't complete the restoration until I enter the password for my Apple ID - but it's the old email address that they're asking for the password with. This is the wrong account ID email, so the password isn't accepted. (The old Apple ID email address didn't even have iCloud!) The restore won't complete without me entering my password, but the iPhone also won't let me change my Apple ID to the correct, new Apple ID email address while my phone is still restoring, saying:
"You cannot delete your iCloud account because your account is being restored" - I take this to mean that I can't switch it to the proper ID while my phone is still restoring. However, if I elect to "Stop Restoring iPhone" from the options under "Storage and Backup" - it gives me an "are you sure" screen that says "Stop Restoring iPhone? Any data that has not been downloaded will not be restored or backed up in the future." Well most of my stuff has not completed downloading - it needs me to enter my password for that - nor have any of my pictures, which is what I am most worried about.
If I press "Stop Restoring iPhone" so that I can change it to the correct Apple ID, will this cause me to lose the data that I've been trying to restore forever? This seems like the only way I can change it to the correct Apple ID... but the warning message makes me very nervous.

Apple's explaination of this warning message is:
"This message is provided if you decide to cancel a background restore. If you proceed you will need to restore again to get all your data on your device, or download your music, apps, and other data again in another way. The best way to avoid this is to not cancel a background restore. If you do cancel a restore, make sure you have copies of the data that was not restored. If you wish to restart a canceled restore, you will need to erase all the content and settings on your device and reinitiate the restore during the iOS Setup Assistant."
My interpretation of this is that if you cancel the restore, the remaining data in the backup will not be restored to your phone until you restore again, unless you have copies of the missing data that you can restore to your device another way (such as by syncing).  I believe you'll be able to restore the backup again, you will just need to go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, then go back through the setup screens on your phone and when given the option, choose Restore to iCloud backup and this time enter the correct iCloud ID.

  • Restoring iPhone from an iTunes backed up on an External Harddrive

I deleted all of my old "restore iphone" devices not realizing that I was deleted my current one as well. I am having trouble locating Mobilsync in my MacHD and in my external HD where everything is backed up. I used the scripts you put in the terminal and etc etc but still no luck in being able to find MobileSync.
So heres my question. How can I restore my itunes that is backed up on my external so when I connect my iphone I can just restore it from one of the previously restored iphone.
Idealy I would like to just find mobilesync on my MacHD since that would have my most recent backed up iphone data. however, ill take an older backed up file from my external seeing how i have nothing on my iphone right now..
Another thing is that I dont care about pictures or music. I just need all my contacts back and dates saved in my calender.
I have not backed anything up onto iCloud.
    Thank you,
    P

The Mobilesync files are in a hidden folder in your user folder. In the "Go" Finder menu, select "Go To Folder..." and in the resulting text field type
    /Users/yourusername/Library
and click "Go". This will open your hidden Library file. In the "Applications Support" folder you will find the Mobilesync files.  Open up the same folder in your backup and drag & drop the files into the current Mobilesync folder. That will restore your backed up backup files. Then start iTunes and hopefully they will show up.
    Good luck.

  • Update to iOS 5.1 causes iPhone to crash on "Restoring iPhone Firmware"

    Hello everyone.
I have been vry please with my iPhone 4 on Verizon for the last 6 months.  I was on iOS 5 which worked great.  Then this morning the AppStore icon had the familiar red circle indicating some apps had updates available.  I clicked Update All.  In there was an update for iOS5.1.  I clicked OK.
I gave me the usual License agreement etc… I clicked OK.
A few minutes later I looked at it and it showed a picture of a cable with an arrow towards an iTunes icon.  SO I plugged it to my computer and it launched iTunes.
iTunes tells me that my iPhone is in Recovery mode and I need to Restore.  Why is it in Recovery mode???  All I did was I clicked OK for software update!
I have no other choice but to click Restore.  It asks if I want to Restore and Update.  I click OK.
I downloads the software (25 minutes worth!!!) then goes through the motions.
    - Restoring iPhone software
    - Verify iPhone software
    - Verify iPhone Restore
    - Restoring iPhone firmware.
After it sits on that Restoring firmware with a striped bar for about 30 seconds, all of a sudden, a new window pops up and says "The iPhone "iPhone" could not be restored.  An unknown error occurred (1)."
iMac 2.4G 24inch .  OS 10.6.8  All my software is up to date as of this morning.  That includes the most recent iTunes.
Nothing else is plugged in the USB ports.
    I have restarted the computer.
No third party firmware.  No illegal mods.  No jailbreaking or anything, all on the up and up.
I have called Apple tech support but was put on hold for 30 minutes and finally had to go to work.
I have done a search on this and other boards but could not find a solution.  Would anyone have any suggestion?
    Thanks for any help.
    Bo

    UPDATE:
I tried about 6 or 7 times with no luck.  Maybe trying even more would have worked as Milis and some others have said.  But I ran out of patience.
So I called Apple tech support.  After a few minutes a woman answered, I explained the problem, she said that since it was out of warranty, it would cost $29 for a one time incident.  I said that since I did not initiate this problem I did not think I should have to pay for anything.  Then she put me on hold, and evidently sent me to the slow cue.  I waited for about 20 or so minutes and another woman answered.  She was very friendly and tried to be helpful but this was clearly out of her league so she transferred me to a specialist.  A very friendly british sounding woman came on and really wanted to get to the bottom of this.  She did a remote access to my computer so she could see the contents of the log files.  After a while, she determined that it could not be repaired.  She told me the phone had to be replaced.
So she filled out a request to that effect, gave me the location of the nearest Apple store and made an appointment for me.  I went there during lunch and they replaced my phone with a new (or new looking at least) unit.  They set it up and now everything is fine.  It is still on iOS5 but I really don't have any pressing need for iOS5.1 so, given this previous experience, I'm going to stay with 5 for a while.
Bottom line is that this was a real pain and huge waste of time.  But Apple support did come through without any trouble (apart from the waiting on hold) and got things fixed and working again.  The people I talked to did not have any idea of what might have caused this.  But one thing I was remember is this:  Usually I always do iOS updates through iTunes with the iPhone connected to the computer.  This was the first time that the update was started with the phone unconnected because it came about through the "Updates" panel of the phone's AppStore icon.  I'm not sure why this would cause the firmware update to go south but that is the only thing I can think of.
At the end of the day, I think I have to put that in the "You want cutting edge technology? well it's going to work most of the time but every now and then there will be the inevitable pothole" column.

  • Restoring iphone after updating to ios 7.0.4

I just updated my iphone to IOS 7.0.4 and am having trouble restoring from itunes backup. When I click on the restore backup button, it seems to work momentarily, until I get a message stating "could not restore iphone because not enough space is available on the iphone." How do I proceed from here, without having to restore to factory settings? I appreciate any suggestions, thanks!

I would try restoring to factory settings first. You won't lose anything since you have a backup file and you don't have many other options left to you.
