Trouble saving encrypted PDF to MAC

I am having trouble saving my EStatement to my computer - but only when I try to "save as" to my home MAC. I don't have any trouble saving the exact same EStatement it to my work PC (without having to enter any password). I have saved several EStatements in the past from the same source to my MAC without having to ever enter a password. Now when trying to save the PDF EStatement to my MAC a window pops up asking for a password from owner. Apparently it in encrypted BUT ONLY WHEN I TRY TO SAVE IT TO MY MAC. Any ideas?

Figured it out. I needed to open the download in ADOBE on not save it from Preview.

  • Trouble saving a pdf from In Design with Illustrator files linked.

I have trouble saving a pdf from In Design. Most of the files i've linked are Illustrator files with size up to 70mb.
I am getting out of memory message   The In Design file isn't that big - about 9mb.
    HELP!!!!!!

It did not help to close and reopen it.
Not sure what you mean with exporting in chunks but if you mean exporting page for page , so it didn't work either.
I think that i'll try to reduce the size of Illustrator files , but I 'm not sure what will be the optimum size for that In Design won't crush again.
Or maybe i should make the presentation in illustrator instead? It take some time to save pdf from illustrator when the original file is about 90mb, but still it works.

  • Trouble saving a PDF

I just downloaded Adobe Reader 8.1.2 for Mac OS (10.4.11) and used it to fill out pdfs and saving them as PDF (with the filled in info intact) . Then all of the sudden it stopped letting me save the PDFs. Does anybody know what I can do? The Save as PDF function on the print menu is not working either.
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks.

Adobe Reader, when you do SAVE on a form, does not save the form data
(and will warn you in advance of that) EXCEPT for specially prepared
forms. Maybe the forms you used in the past were special.

  • Trouble saving certain pdfs with Adobe x

I have just upgraded to Adobe x and am now unable to save certain pdfs (eg journal articles). They are not protected files and I was able to do this with the previous version. Same issue as previously asked and also running Windows 7:
"I am unable to save copies ofcertain pdfs in Reader X (10.1.1). The pdf (from an academic journal) opens without problem but when I click on the Save a copy icon in the tool bar nothing happens.  I'm told to click Shift+Ctrl+S and then get a "Bad Parameter " message.  If I click on the Print icon there is no problem.  I'm running Windows 7"
Help would be great - needing to get study done!!
    Thanks
    Kelly

After installing Reader 10 (aka Reader X), I had exact same problem --trying to save multiple documents via Firefox browser (up-to-date version 3.6.13), only first document can be saved -- attempts to save 2nd document results in nothing happening.  Uninstalled and reinstalled Reader 10, problem same.  After closing browser, waiting a couple of minutes, could then save 2nd file -- but then could not save 3rd file right away, etc.   Gave up -- uninstalled Reader 10 and went back to Reader 9.4 -- no problems with old version.  Based on other comments on this forum, it seems like Reader 10 is not ready for prime time.

  • Ps file saved as PDF on mac - opened on PC changes all colors to something different

i made a PDF from my ps file in photoshop. I sent it to a printer. he gave me the proof and it was not the same color i had. he stated he couldnt change it because he is on a PC and the file i sent him when he opens in in PS switches to a bitmap. and everything ive done changes the colors to something else. How do i create a PDF from my ps file, to something that from a mac, any PC user can open and retain the info?

Came here to complain about this maddening feature. Why it doesn't save the PDF out to a separate instance of the document is beyond me. PLENTY of us want to save the PDF without the layers, and want the PSD separate.
"Oh good, I've completed this document.... let me just save it out as a PDF for client delivery and... Now all the work is gone."
Genius, Adobe, genius. But it's cool--we'll just keep paying out the nose on a subscription basis with no fix for small errors like this.

  • Saving a PDF using Mac OS X Lion 10.7

How can I restore the save as feature when I open a pdf?
I am using lion 10.7 on a macbook pro.

I found that you can just export the pdf wherever you would like and it saves the pdf that way.  The export feature did replace the save as feature.

  • Trouble saving edited PDF

I am editing a multi-page PDF.  I occasionally need to replace existing pages with updated pages.  However, after I open the document, insert the replacement and go to save, I get a message telling me I can't save the file, that it's already open.  No one else has it open.  Any ideas what may cause this?

As I understand it, you have used the Document>Replace Pages tool, or the Document>Insert Pages tool. The former is useful if you are replacing individual pages, particularly if you have added markup. The markup (like form fields) will remain if you use the replace option. If you can't save the file, then just use Save As. I often use Save As to overwrite the current file. The advantage of Save As is that it strips out the old changes that Save keeps. If you use Save, the file will often become bloated. You can also do a Save As to a new file name and then delete the old file when done.
I don't have an answer to why Save is not working for you as it should, unless you are playing with a PDF/A file or such, or the file is protected from changes (security setting -- You can often make changes in the document and don't find out until you try to save that it is locked). So check for either the archive format (PDF/A) or security setting. That is all that I can think of that is blocking the save.

  • Trouble saving as PDF

I'm trying to save a large job to PDF for the person to review and I keep getting the warning "The dimmension of this page are out-of-range".  Any help would be greatly appreciated I'm starting to pull my hair out.

The limit seems to be 200 inch in AI CS5. However, I am able to save artborads larger than 200 inch with AI CS3 as pdf. That's peculiar.
I have had similar problems when exporting large artworks to jpeg. Sometimes I just use the PrintScreen button to do the work.

Does anyone else have trouble saving some PDF files? I'm looking at academic papers and certain databases have PDF files that will let me open and print them, but I can't save them to my computer. Please help!

  • Trouble saving PDF

I'm trying to save an illustrator file as a PDF to send to a client and when it saves, one of the letters shows up much darker and thicker than the rest. Just one. The type is in outline form and the .ai file looks fine. I've tried saving the PDF as a high quality, press quality, all of the presets but the dang letter (l, btw) keeps showing up like this. Am I doing something wrong? I've saved tons of PDF and never had this problem before.
    Thanks very much!
    Amy

Zoom way, way in, Amy. Does the letter still seem heavy?
You might be looking at a screen rendering anomaly, which is not reflected in printer output.
In what version of Reader or Acrobat are you viewing the PDF? The most recent versions are better than earlier ones with regard to this issue.

  • Trouble opening LiveCycle DRM-encrypted PDFs in Adobe Acrobat v.10.0.2

LiveCycle DRM-encrypted PDFs open fine in Adobe Acrobat v. 9, v. 10.1.7, and v. 11. Why don't they open in v. 10.0.2? Is this a known problem? My company is UNABLE to upgrade or downgrade to another version of Adobe at this time, but we need to be able to open these PDFs with version 10.0.2. What is the solution? I get the following message when attempting to open these PDFs:

And, if there is a bug, is there any solution other than to upgrade to the next version?
Usually bugs are fixed in updated software versions; what kind of other solution do you expect?
Actually, looking at ftp://ftp.adobe.com/pub/adobe/reader/win/10.x/ I see that 10.0.2 has been removed completely, so this appears to have been an especially buggy version.

  • Trouble with Exported .pdf Files

I created three 20"x30" one-page documents (with iPhoto-sourced images) which saved as 24.7 MB, 19.4 MB, and 10.7 MB files, respectively. I needed to send JPEG files to my service provider for high-resolution prints. Since Pages '08 doesn't have a JPEG-export option, I exported each of them as .pdf files. My plan was to open the .pdf files in Photoshop and save them down as .jpg files. The same path had worked fine with a fourth Pages '08 layout of a 2.25"x3.75" document. With the three 20"x30" files, however, I ran into trouble.
My laptop didn't have enough memory to open the exported .pdf files in Photoshop Elements without suffering some image gray-out. I didn't think that was a problem until we discovered that my service provider couldn't open the files at all (running the current Photoshop on a souped-up system). Arghhh.
I switched to a service provider who can print straight from the .pdf files, but that also brought trouble. Though I could open the files easily in Acrobat 5.0, and they looked great, the service provider (running the current full version of Acrobat) could not open them; all he got was what looked like a blank page.
I don't think the trouble is related to file size, as the business-card document which sailed through without trouble saved as an 11.2 MB Pages file.
Could it be sheet size? That's the only thing I can figure. And why would the files open in Acrobat 5.0 without trouble, but not in the current Acrobat (or Acrobat Professional, which we also tried)?
I ended up "printing" the Pages files as "Save PDF to iPhoto," then exporting the iPhoto image as a maximum-resolution JPEG. The only trouble with that route was that the best I could get was a 200 dpi. When I went through Photoshop (instead of iPhoto) with the business card file, I ended up with a 300 dpi file.
Am I missing something obvious here? Any help would be appreciated.

    Hi,
I don't know if this is the correct answer, but you can open a PDF in Preview and save the document as a JPEG and JPEG-2000. I know that Leopard will also have some neat functionality about this as well. You might also want to look at printing as a postscript file rather than a PDF and then open in Photoshop. I talked with a FEDEX/Kinkos employee yesterday about my book at he stated that Macs use 1.5 while Adobe's Acrobat is 1.7. Leopard should also fix this, but it may not help right now.

  • Preview Encrypt PDF - Really Secure?

When you use the Preview app in OS X to encrypt a PDF is it really secure?
I haven't been able to find anything about the level of encryption used by Preview in OS X. What type of encryption does Preview use (40-bit, 128-bit)?
A quick search of the web and there are several products that claim they can remove the passwords from PDF files. If these work why would anyone consider encrypted PDF's secure?

    Preview
    CVE-ID: CVE-2008-0994
Available for: Mac OS X v10.5.2, Mac OS X Server v10.5.2
Impact: Saving to encrypted PDF in Preview produces files that may be read without the password
Description: When Preview saves a PDF file with encryption, it uses 40-bit RC4. This encryption algorithm may be broken with significant but readily available computing power. A person with access to the file may apply a brute-force technique to view it. This update enhances the encryption to 128-bit RC4.

  • Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File Save.

I am using Mountain Lion (10.8.2) and I was using Adobe Reader version 9. In the past, I've always been able to print to file using the File -> Print dialogue but all of a sudden it stopped working. I read somewhere that installing the latest version of Adobe Reader (version 11) would remove the old printer, so I did so. It took me about an hour on version 11 to even find the pdf print to file option, but I am getting the same message. For what it's worth, when I try print to file from Microsoft Word, I have no problem. I have no idea why things changed all of a sudden, but does anyone have any idea how I can get this working again?

I checked with Adobe.  No luck.
Allow me to clarify my problem:
I have Adobe Reader XI. I also use a Mac--imac and a MacBook Pro.   My adobe was updated on 12/24.  Prior to that point, I could open my print dialogue box and there was a PDF tab on the bottom left.  In the drop down menu there were many choices, including but not limited to Open in PDF Preview, Print PDF, Save PDF, email PDF.  If I selected one page of 30 pages from a document saved in Adobe, I could extract just that one page and save it or email it, without having to send the entire document.   After the update, when I open a PDF file using ADOBE READER XI, and then open the print dialogue box, and follow those same steps, I get the message "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save."   My question is why is this feature now unavailable and is there a way to fix it?
The answer I got from Adobe was that Adobe never had this function, so it must have been via my print or preview programs..which are apple.  Does anyone have any thoughts?
    Thank you.

  • Message error: "Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File Save."

I have 2 problems creating a .ps file.
As i know, there are 2 ways of creating a Postcript file from a PDF.
The first is from the Print monitor. I go through menu File/Page Setup i give the exact dimensions from my spreaded pages and after that i go to Print and when this window opens,
i go down and left and i open the pop-up menu on"PDF" and i choose "Save PDF as Postscript"
There is where i get the above error message :
"Saving a PDF file when printing is not supported. Instead, choose File > Save."
And the second scenario, i get an equal problem.
If i go to Page setup and give the right dimensions of my spreaded document, after that i go to the File/Save as command, there is choose from the bottom pop-up menu, the option at Format: Postscript
If i do that i get the following message:
"The document could not be saved. An internal error occured."
What is wrong with all this?
    Can anyone help me out?
    System preferences.
    Mac OS X 10.4.11
    Acrobat professional 8.1.2
    Thank you

    Jon Bessant asked:
"Does this occur on every PDF file? The internal error message that is ..."
Yes, it happens on every PDF
