Trouble scanning into Photoshop Elements 11 from Canoscan 8800F

Each time I scan several photos into Photoshop Elements 11 a few of the photos go to my selected file and one or more say they were not imported because they already exist in the APPData/Local/Temp/PSAlbumImport file. I then have to try to figure out how to get them transferred to my selected file. Why is this happening? It really slows down the scanning process and I'm sure this isn't how things are supposed to work.

I have not come across that problem. The only workaround I can suggest is to scan photos directly to a folder on you hard drive and then use the Organizer menu to import the images:
File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders

  • Trouble scanning with Photoshop elements 4.0, Software keeps quitting.

I'm using Photoshop elements as the scanner driver for my cannon flatbed scanner. I haven't used the scanner for a while. Now scans seem to take much longer and before I save, the program unexpectedly quits and I lose the images a waited forever to scan. At first I thought the problem was too little hard drive space, but the problem continues after freeing up more than enough space. I looked for software updates through the menu bar and didn't find any. Any suggestions?

Go to applications>Photoshop Elements 4.0>plug-ins>import/export and send the Adobe TWAIN driver to the trash (but don't empty it). If that helps and you don't have any trouble scanning, empty the trash.

  • Scanning to photoshop elements from scanner

I seem to have misplaced my previous posting on same subject.
Although I can scan from PE 4.0 using my HP 8250 Scanner, I am unable to add
PE 4.0 to the Destination list of the scanner so that I can initiate a scan
to PE from the scanner buttons. I have spent several hours trying to scope
this out but information seems illusive. Can anybody help me add Photoshop
Elements 4.0 to the Destination list of the HP 8250 Scanner?
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the links. I will look at that.

I have continued to try to scope this out myself since I posted the
question. There is a learning curve involved here and I did find out a few
things that I thought I would mention which might clarify this problem. It
did for me, anyway.

When one first installs the scanner and its software and then pushes the
various scanner buttons, a small window comes up and asks which of the
following programs do you want this button to activate. After selecting a
program you then can click "do not show this again" button, which apparently
I had done in the past. So I had forgotten and was unaware of that
window..........but now know that Photoshop Elements does come up in that
window and I could have chosen it to open when that button is pushed. When
it does open Elements it doesn't do a scan automatically but the scanner
does respond to the scanner options in Elements. Elements was not on my
computer when I installed the scanner and so I chose to use the HP scanner
software and also checked off "don't show this window again" and therefore
when I press on the button the HP scanner software opens.

Since I didn't remember that, my question had to do with the next step.
After you use the HP software to automatically scan, when you accept the
scan, another window opens to ask where you want the scan to go, and
although the Adobe Photodeluxe program is listed along with Word, and
several other programs, Photoshop elements is not listed there. So in
effect, I can use the HP Software to do the scan and adjust resolution,
etc, but then I can't send the accepted scan to Elements. That's what I was
asking about.

I did do an entire uninstall of the HP software and then manually removed
any residue (HPSJ programs) and then did a full reinstall. That is how I
found out about the button choice window which I did not remember from
before. But when I did a scan using the HP software and then pushed the
accepted button, the Destination list that came up again did not include
Elements. Of course, there are workarounds such as saving the scan to a
file and then opening it in Elements......or just going to elements and
initiating the scan from there and I probably will end up doing one or the
other.............just a matter of principle that Elements should be treated
as equally as Photodeluxe and all the other programs already on the
destination list.

Thanks for your interest.

<[email protected]> wrote in message
news:[email protected]...
> Barry,
>
> There were several discussions some time ago about the sequence in which
> Elements and scanner software were installed. • Where do I find scans into Photoshop elements 11

I scanned a photo into photoshop 11 but cannot find it. Where would it be?

    Hi,
Which operating system are you running on?
Did you use the Organizer or the Editor to scan in the image?
For the organizer, go to the Edit menu and select Preferences -> Scanner
There you should find where the image is saved.
For the Editor, you are asked for the destination so it is wherever you selected. Try doing it again to find the location.

  • HT202786 how do I import a photo into Photoshop elements from Photos

I am using Photoshop Elements with templates and photo editing and it no longer gives me the option in preferences to export to Elements in photo like there was in iPhoto. Any ideas on what to do

    Cathy,
Your question is not remotely a Color Management issue, so this is the wrong forum Consider posting in the InDesign or Ps Elements forum.
It looks like you need help understanding some very elementary application-specific basics.

  • How can i get my Epson Premium XP-620 to scan into Photoshop Elements 13?

I am using Win 7 Pro 64bit operating system on an HP Computer. When I open Photoshop Elements 13 and under file I go to import and my XP-620 is not recognized. How do I get it to work with PSE?
Or is it something that Epson won't let us do?

Jim -- I checked all the settings, and in paper options, I found the culprit the paper size was not 13 x 19 but 8.5 x 11 -- for some reason, when I select a custom size in the print menu, I now need to go to paper size and make sure the change is there too. I didn't need to do this before now, but now I will. Thanks for reminding me to check the settings. ak

  • Why can't I scan a regular photo at 1200 x 1200 dpi into Photoshop Elements 11?

When I try to scan a photo into Photoshop Elements 11 Organizer I get an error message saying it didn't get the file from the device. File exceeds maximum size allowed. It's only a regular photo at 1200 x 1200 dpi. I need it high quality so simply scanning a photo at that resolution shouldn't be a problem.
    Barry

That makes perfect sense, except I've discovered a problem with my scanning software. The scanner is capable of 1200 x 1200 dpi but the software only allows 300 dpi. It's seems to be a glitch in the current software that needs an update, but in the meantime I was trying to use PSE as a work around since the scanner company said that's what I should use. I hope there's another solution available in PSE. Thanks for the suggestion.

  • How do I get my photos from a previous version of Photoshop Elements (6) into Photoshop Elements 12?

How do I get my photos from a previous version of Photoshop Elements (6) into Photoshop Elements 12? Do I restore from a backup? I have over 12,000 pics ( a good portion with multiple versions) and don't want to lose captions and metadata. Thank you in advance for your help.

If this is on the same computer just install PSE 12. It should find your old catalog and upgrade it to PSE 12. If for some reason it doesn't, then go to file>manage catalogs, find your old catalog and tell PSE 12 to convert it.
If this is a new computer, then yes, full backup and restore.

  • How do I download images from a camera into Photoshop Elements 7?

Previously I've downloaded digital images directly from my camera into Photoshop Elements 7.0 In trying to do that today, I go to "File", choose "Get pictures from Camera", then see a "source" box, with an instruction to "Get Pictures from:" and offers a "source" box for choosing. The single "source" listed is my printer, not my camera! Am I doing something wrong? Is Photoshop defective?
    Please help me out.
    Gene F.

    Hi Gene
    Yes Elements is defective.
There are known bugs with the photo downloader, notably if you run the program on a net book or laptop with minimum screen resolution.
Go to the control panel and check dpi scaling under Appearance or Display.
It’s not uncommon to see a setting of 125% or higher to improve screen readability but PSE9 requires a dpi of 96 or 100%
Whilst the Editor Menu will appear at 120% the Organizer Menu (and the advanced button in downloader) will not.
Try a setting of 115% or 116% otherwise 100%. A common display resolution, notably for laptops and netbooks is 1024 x 768 but PSE9 requires a screen height of 800 for full functionality.

  • I cannot download my pics from my flash drives into Photoshop elements 11.

I cannot dowmload my pics from my flash drives into Photoshop elements 11. Each time I try it gets to about 15% and then Photoshop crashes. It is not the flash drives as other programmes on my computer open them without a problem. Please help

    Hi Neale,
That was my first thought as well, I do know that Photoshop sometimes gets a surge of shite to the brain and refuses to download the movie formats.
However after your mail I went again, through every individual pic/, about 1500 of them and yea, you were right there was one bloody movie file.
Thanks so much really appreciate your help.

  • Import images into Photoshop Elements Photo Organizer from Safari

    Hi,
I recently bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 9 for Mac. Safari is my default browser. I wonder, has anyone seen an extension or add-on to Apple Safari 5.0 that creates a context dialog that would allow one to import an image from a web page into the Adobe Elements 9 Photo Organizer. Currently, the process of importing into Adobe Photoshop Elements Photo Organizer is both elaborate and tedious. Alternatively, am I simply unaware of some simple drag and drop method to import an image from the web into Photoshop Elements 9 Photo Organizer?

    Hi Jack
It’s just not possible on the MAC even with the better Firefox open source Web Browser.

  • How to reinstall Photoshop Elements from old Pc into Mac?

How do I reintall Photoshop Elements Windows version into my new Mac. PC was stolen.

I looked at it, Barbara, but you can't download 9 without the discs. I
originally downloaded it online and Adobe now tells me it only has 10 to
    download.

Did you not look at the link in the thread in my last post, Lorna?
When you buy software it's your responsibility to keep the media against
future reinstallations, whether you purchase via download or on disc. If
you registered your software, for PSE 9 you may still find a download
link in your adobe store account, if you purchased PSE that way, also.

A question for Adobe's Photoshop Elements forum, I would have thought.
