Trouble scanning

My HP Deskjet 3070A is connected correctly to my computer via WiFi, and is printing ok.
However when I try and scan from the computer, I click on the printer icon, but the only options then available are - set preferences, see what's printing and customize your printer.  I do not get any scanning options.
When I try and scan from the printer window, I receive a message saying computer not found, but I am able to print from the computer.

Dudley-van,
So I can get a better understanding of your situation could you take a screen shot of what you are seeing when you click on the printer icon on your desktop and attach it to this thread.

  • Trouble scanning with Photoshop elements 4.0, Software keeps quitting.

I'm using Photoshop elements as the scanner driver for my cannon flatbed scanner. I haven't used the scanner for a while. Now scans seem to take much longer and before I save, the program unexpectedly quits and I lose the images a waited forever to scan. At first I thought the problem was too little hard drive space, but the problem continues after freeing up more than enough space. I looked for software updates through the menu bar and didn't find any. Any suggestions?

Go to applications>Photoshop Elements 4.0>plug-ins>import/export and send the Adobe TWAIN driver to the trash (but don't empty it). If that helps and you don't have any trouble scanning, empty the trash.

I am having trouble scanning to my MacBook OS X 10.5.8.  I am using  HP Photosmart C4385 and AirportExpress.  It works to print from the computer, but trying to scan it reads"USB or wireless not connected."  I have also tried connecting it by USB.  Help!

check the HP seb sire to ensure you are running current drivers. Software update may also print it up.

Having trouble scanning my first document using the mobile app.

    Sekou1,
Adobe Reader for iOS is a PDF viewer.  It does not have the capability to scan documents.  You may want to search for scanning apps in the App Store.  Some of them are free and easy to use.

  • Having trouble scanning pictures and sending to computer

Having trouble scaning photos and sending them to my computer. I have HP Envy 700-300z DT.  Printer is a officejet all in one. Printer does everything it should do except scanning to send to computer.

    Hi,
You may have to start from your computer first:
Double click printer icon on desktop,
        Select Manage Scan to Computer
        Click Enable -
You can start this automatically with Windows BUT you will get an arror message if you  turn on the computer BEFORE the printer.
    Regards.

  • Hp photosmart premium C309g-m - trouble scanning

I have an hp photosmart Premium C309g-m - printer states scan saved but can't figure out how to print it

    Hello NancyDonohue,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand when you scan a document to your computer, you would like a option to print. I will do my best to assist you! Please reference the Photosmart Premium C309G Manual here. The manual doesn't state you can perform this feature. It does states you can scan to, then reprint a photo.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Trouble scanning 8 1/2 x 14

I just bought and installed Acrobat XI Standard on my PC  I have a Brother FMC-430w Print/scan/fax.  I was using their Controlcenter 4 software and could scan 81/2 X 14 docs, which is what is reqd for my work.  My problem was that I can only load so many pages in the doc feeder, once it scanned those I had to save it, then make an additional PDF.  I installed the Acrobat 11.0 in order to be able to refeed the printer while maintaining only one PDF.  The first time I scanned using 11.0, it scanned, but only 81/2 x 11, so I tried to figure out how to do 81/2x14.  I ended up doing a "custom scan" which I thought should work with my scanner.  When I hit the scan button, it showed in the dialog box tha came up that it would scann as 81/2 x 14, but when I hit scan in that window, the scanner sounded like it was taking the doc in, but was not.  I tried several time with the same result.  So, after that, I tried going back and using the Controlcenter 4 software, and could only get 8 1/2 x 11, eventhough all the settings for that software say they are at 8 1/2 x 14.  What do I do??

You may get a better answer if you ask in the appropriate Acrobat forum (this is the " Downloading, Installing, Setting Up" forum).  On the other hand it is not even sure if the problem lies with Acrobat or the CanoScan software.  But I would definitely try the Acrobat forum.
Don't forget to mention your OS & version.

  • Trouble scanning into Photoshop Elements 11 from Canoscan 8800F

Each time I scan several photos into Photoshop Elements 11 a few of the photos go to my selected file and one or more say they were not imported because they already exist in the APPData/Local/Temp/PSAlbumImport file.  I then have to try to figure out how to get them transferred to my selected file.  Why is this happening?  It really slows down the scanning process and I'm sure this isn't how things are supposed to work.

I have not come across that problem. The only workaround I can suggest is to scan photos directly to a folder on you hard drive and then use the Organizer menu to import the images:
File >> Get Photos & Videos >> From Files & Folders

  • Trouble scanning to a MacBook Pro and actually saving image in computer.

I am quite frustrated, having the latest driver from HP and the latest (Maverick) OSX from Apple, but not being able to simply scan and save images into my computer. Does anyone have ANY information on how I can do this? I can scan and see the image on my desktop. But, I don't have a tab from HP to save it and I don't have a menu item from Apple to import it. I see back in October, there were lots of questions about this. Has it been resolved? Thanks for any help!

    Hi Barefoot_Boho,
I would like to help you be able to scan and locate your scans. What printer do you have? How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
    While I wait to hear back form you, please complete the steps below. This may resolve the issue with no further action required;
    Reset Printing System
Click the Apple icon (   ), and then click System Preferences.
In the Hardware section, click Print & Fax/Scan. The Print & Fax/Scan  dialog box opens.
Right-click (or  Ctrl  +click) in the left panel, and then click Reset printing system…
    Click OKto confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system. The Print & Fax dialog box shows no printer selected
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    Repair Disk Permissions
On the Dock, click Applications, and then click Utilities.
    Double-clickDisk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left (by default this is "Macintosh HD").
Click the Repair Disk Permissions button at the bottom of the window.
Open System Prefrences again, Print & Fax/Scan, and click the little plus symbol. When you add the printer, please ensure you are using the HP driver, not the AirPrint driver.
Select Add other Printer or Scanner
Select the printer you are adding and next to 'Use' you can the printer driver
Click the Apple icon, and check for Apple Software Updates. After the updates complete, or if there are no updates, please restart the computer and the printer.
After both devices are on again, please try scanning.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue or if you require further assistance.
Please click the Thumbs up icon below to thank me for responding.

  • Troubles scanning with HP Officejet 7210

So I can print from my Officejet 7210, but it's not letting me scan it. It's not recognizing it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled twice as well as rebooted my computer. I've even tried Mac's Image Capture and that also isn't recognizing it as a scanner.
    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Hi,
HP Printer scans in portrait direction and format. So the only way is scan then rotate to Landscape using hp scan application or any third party application manually.
Thanks for using hp printer, Have a Happy Printing.

  • Canoscan 9000f - Having trouble scanning 1.5" x 1.5" Ektachrome Slides

The bottom slide scans fine with the correct dimensions but the top slide gets cut to roughly the same dimensions as the bottom, chopping off some of the image.  Everytime I try to change the input size it tells me it's invalid and to enter a correct value.  Does anyone know how to scan the size on top without any of it getting chopped?

Yes I did!  And by accident.
Assuming you're using Photostudio 6.  Once you Acquire and prescan your slides, click on the icon all the way to the left on the menu bar (under where it says ScanGear). This button "Switches On / Off the thumbnails view mode"  After you click that just select your photo and the outline will start "crawling" around the image then drag it to the dimensions you need!  Good luck and happy scanning!

  • Trouble scanning after Leopard upgrade

After upgrading my G4 PB to Leopard I can no longer scan an image into MS Word from Office 2004 or other applications without getting an error when I use the twain scanner software from a Canon MX860 or an older Epson CX4200. The only thing that works is to use Image Capture and save the image as a separate file and then insert or open it in the other software. Are there other solutions?

I have noticed the same thing on my 17" MacBook Pro once I upgraded to Leopard. My wireless now takes a long time while it scans for wireless networks and then finally connects. I've also noticed that connections to SMB servers take longer too. Not impressed at all with the new network technology in Leopard.

  • Having trouble scanning from an HP printerr

I connect to the printer successfully over WiFi for printing but cannot do so for scanning using bundled HP software, Apple's Preview, or Image Capture. The printer is an HP Photosmart Plus bought this week. Have gotten latest upgrades for OSX v10.7.  Any similar problems or suggestions?

Thanks alot.  It doesn't work wired so I am off to HP.

  • Trouble scanning using Photosmart 6520

I am trying to scan to email but it keeps saying there was a problem connecting to the server.
I have made sure my wireless is working, and that it is connected on the printer but it still will not scan to email but it has plenty of times before and I cannot figure out what to do to get it working.
    Can you please help.

    Hello chrissy_p90,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
Sorry to hear about the recent issue when trying to Scan to Email, I would like to offer a few suggestions that may help.
Check for updates on the printer, Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates.
Power off the printer and ensure the power cord is connected to a wall out let.
Next you want to power reset the router. If it has a power button press that, if not, remove the power cord. Wait 60 seconds and then allow it to power back up. Once router is fully on, power up the printer.
Test the Scan to Email, if it works there is no need to continue. If it doesn't, try the next suggestion.
Refer to this Thread answered by a colleague of mine happytohelp01 : Efax 7510 still won't work after turning off/on ePrint several times. Follow the steps to setup a Manual I.P and DNS for the printer over the network. The steps will be the same, if not very similar for your printer as the one in the above post.
Try to Scan to Email once done, if still unable to Scan to Email, continue below.
Go back to the above Thread, rather than using the DNS suggested try this set; Primary DNS Server : 209.244.0.3 & Secondary DNS Server : 209.244.0.4.
Try to Scan to Email, if the feature is still not working you will need to call HP's Cloud Support team. If you live in the USA/Canada, 1-855-785-2777. If you live outside the USA/Canada, click HERE to find the Technical Support number for your country/region.
I hope this has helped, if it has, please let me know what step helped.
    Cheers.
