Trouble sending email from iPod Touch

I have My own Local ISP, I'm not having a problem from their end. I am having trouble sending my email from the outgoing mail server from my iPod Touch, I have it set up correctly.
What I wanted and tried to do is sync my composed and sent emails from my iPod Touch to my computer email Program (Apple). What I did was I plugged in my iPod Touch to my computer, clicked on "Devices" in iTunes, clicked on the Info. Tab and scrolled down to "Mail Accounts" and chose the "Sync Selected mail accounts": check box, Then I chose my ISP Pop account email check box, then chose the "Advance" section and checked all the check boxes: Contacts, Calendars, mail accounts, and Bookmarks, then I clicked on the Sync Button at the bottom. After I did this I tried sending an email from my iPod Touch, the email went to the out box and not to the sent section of my iPod Touch, my iPod suddenly stopped sending email and had little trouble getting email from my computer while my iPod Touch was "checking" its "email" with its little blue wheel spinning at the bottom of the mail iPod Touch screen, My computer email program (apple) would get the little Triangle next to the inbox. I had went Back to my iTunes, iPod Touch "Devices", Info Tab, and undid what I did and re hit the Sync Button again, I then had noticed that in the "Advance section" the "Mail Accounts" check box was un high lighted, I am not able to check it if I wanted to. Now sometimes I am able to get my email from my computer, I am able to send email from my computer email program (Apple).
Does any one have a solution and that can help solve this sticky problem? and help me refix this?
Thanks,
Trisha Foster.

Without having the stuff to hand - this is what I did. You need to make sure that your password and username are left blank in the settings for out going mail on your touch. this will be changed back if you let itunes sync email addresses on your computer. I had the same problem until I read somewhere that you needed these setting left blank.

  • Sending emails from ipod touch

I've never been able to send emails from the touch using the normal smtp server. Quick rundown. I have Time Warner. I use smtp-server.twcny.rr.com on my computer in the account settings, and have no problems sending emails. I use the same info on the touch, and I get the following error when I try to setup an acct:
The SMTP server "smtp-server.twcny.rr.com" does not support authentication. Please check your settings and try again. When I go into the settings on the touch, it shows "password" for authentication. theres got to be a way for me to be able to send emails via my IPT.

    Hi,
Some ISPs will only allow a device to send emails from their server when its connecting to the Internet over their network.
If the iPod touch is connecting to the Internet over the cellular network, you will most likely have to enable an alternate outgoing mail server(one that can only send over the cellular network). This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1426 provides more details about enabling alternate SMTP servers.
You can avoid ISP related send mail issues by switching to another email provider, like MobileMe, Yahoo!, or Gmail.

  • All of a sudden cannot send email from my Touch

When I try to send an email from my touch a popup appears, "Cannot Send Mail The sender address was invalid". I have not changed any settings, all was working fine earlier today.
I do still receive email ok.
I have an all Mac system, everything worked fine earlier. I can still send/receive email on my Mac.
Any recommendations on what could cause this? Thanks.

I fixed it. I read this link and it helped. It told me the settings for my Touch mail had to be the same as for my iMac mail. For some reason the SSL setting was different, which I changed and now it works again. If you have issues like this please try this link. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1426?viewlocale=en_US

  • Trouble sending email from iPhone...

How do I send email from my iPhone? I only seem to be able to send email from my gmail account or if my iPhone is working on my WiFi network. I can receive my email but it won't send if I am using EDGE. My ISP is Cox if that matters. Anyone have a solution? Thanks.

You can send messages with your Gmail account regardless your internet connection - via a wi-fi connection with different internet service providers and with EDGE because Gmail has an authenticated SMTP server.
Most internet service providers block the use of SMTP servers that are outside of their network or not provided by the internet service provider used for the internet connection unless the SMTP server is authenticated.
Cox does not have an authenticated SMTP server - most internet service providers do not have an authenticated SMTP server.
If you have a wireless network at home with Cox as your internet service provider for your wireless network, you can send messages with your Cox email account and SMTP server when connected to this wi-fi network, and the same if you connect to a different wi-fi network if Cox is the internet service provider for the wi-fi network.
These restrictions are in place as part of an overall effort to prevent spam emanating from the ISP's domain.
If you have installed firmware update 2.0, this update includes at&t's SMTP server to be enabled when connected to the internet via at&t's cellular network to be used with an email account that does not have an authenticated SMTP server. You can use this SMTP server to send messages with the account when connected to the internet via at&t's cellular network or EDGE/3G. Using this SMTP server for your Cox account will not work when connected to a wi-fi network with Cox as the internet service provider, or with any other wi-fi network.
You will be better off using your Gmail account as your primary account with the iPhone and with your computer since Gmail has an authenticated SMTP server, which can be used to send messages with your Gmail account regardless the internet service provider used for your internet connection.

  • Cannot send email from my Touch (connection to smtp server fails)

    Hello,
I have a new iPod Touch with 1.1.4 and the January apps. I am having a problem setting the Mail application.
I am trying to connect to the IMAP/SMTP servers at my university. I am using the exact same settings and passwords I use on my laptop, which works fine. I can receive email fine on my Touch, but every time I try to send one it fails tellings me "the connection to the outgoing server smtp.myuniversity.edu failed".
If I on purpose write a wrong password for the outgoing mail, the error message I get is different ("check the account settings for the outgoing server smtp.myuniversity.edu").
The university IT people confirmed my settings, and told me that there is nothing blocking any handheld device from using the server.
Does anyone know why this would happen?
    Thanks,
    Marcelo

Thank you very much for your responses
    1) the link to mail setup is (sorry, it's quite long)

    2) I am indeed using SSL, as instructed by IT
    3) I do use port 587 instead of 25 (25 does not work either)
    Any ideas? Thanks again.

  • Send email on iPod touch 4th

    Hi there!!
Since I've updated my iPod touch to run on iOS 6 and iOS 6.0.1 thereafter, the mail app started to do problems when I am trying to send mail.
Sometimes, it doesn't send my email at all and sometimes, it take it several minutes in order to send it. Has anyone here encountered this problem too? What should I do in order to solve this trouble?
    Thanks in advance!!
    Atar.

I found the solution today. This worked for me, easy, peasy. Here it is for anyone with the same problem.
On a computer (or on the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch that is used to access the
Gmail via IMAP server), launch a web browser.
    Visit the following URL:
    https://www.google.com/accounts/DisplayUnlockCaptcha
    Follow the simple directions.

  • Can't send email on iPod Touch

Everything works well on my new iPod except that I cannot send emails. The message is that the server won't take the address. I have resynced to no avail.

I have now sorted this problem.
The iPod contained email info of ISP receiving and outgoing servers that had been synced from my orig PC. When I introduced a new PC I did not tell the iPod to sync email details with the new PC and all worked OK. However it appears that in changing to update version 4 something caused this old info to become corrupted and problems arose with sending mail but there were no problems in receiving.
I have now told my iTunes software to sync all details of email info with the new PC's details and today I have been able to send and recive emails via the 2 addresses my wife and I use.
It seems it was a bit like the problem with photos and the need to delete the old photo cache.

  • Please Help! Trouble sending email from Apple Mail to PC-users

When sending email in RTF format from Mail to PCs, we have som trouble which I havent found out how to solve:
    1) the PC user gets a scrambler email, in which some of the text is like "chinese". Illegible! This seems to happen especialle with PDFs attached.
    2) Graphics or pictures we wish to appear directly in the mail is not visible to the receiver, but is only included as attachments.
I know most mail encoding problems can be avoided if we send mail i the "old" simple text format. But we wish to send mails in which our company logo appears in the signature, and sometimes we send graphics and pictures that we wish to be seen directly in the mail (and not as attached files only).
I have set the preferences so that mails as standard are send in RTF format and attachments are send in the "windows friendly" mode.
What really irritates me is that we have more success sending PC friendly mails from Entourage. But for two other reasons we wish to use Mail instead of Enrourage (Entourage has more crash downs/"broken" database issues. And we use Plaxo which does not sync with Entourage)..
Could some of you Please help or direct me to helpfull info?
    Sincerely ...Peter and Thomas

    Hello Peter.
Your OS detail provided indicates you are running 10.3.9 but you posted in the Mail & Address Book - Tiger discussions.
    1) When you say PC user, more than likely the PC users reporting this problem are using Outlook for their email client since Outlook has always had problems with Mail's RTF and sometimes severe problems depending on the version used by the recipient. Using Plain Text for message composition will resolve this but check this link for an alternative.
    http://homepage.mac.com/thgewecke/woutlook.html
    2) All Mail.app versions prior to Tiger Mail (2.x) do not support composing in HTML. RTF with Tiger Mail is HTML but Tiger Mail does not include an HTML composer/editor.
The Mail.app displays all photo/image and single page PDF attachments inline or viewed in place within the body of the message by default which cannot be turned off. This is not the same as being embedded which cannot be done with any Mail.app version directly regardless. Depending on the recipient's email client and available settings, such attachments may appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened by the recipient (as when receiving such attachments with the Mail.app) or as attached files only which must be opened separately to be viewed for which the sender has no control over.
The same in reverse. Photo/image attachments to a Windows Outlook message appear as attached files only when the message is sent but when sent to a Mail.app user, such attachments will appear inline or viewed in place within the body of the message when the message is opened which the Windows Outlook user has no control over.
The company logo included with your Signature is likely appearing as an attached file to the message only but how the logo appears when opened by the recipient depends on the recipient's email client.
The only thing the Windows Friendly Attachment option does is remove the Apple resource fork for attached files which are invisible to fellow Mac users.

  • Tried to send iMessage from iPod touch (5th generation) but continuously says "contact not registered with iMessage". The contact IS registered with iMessage, but won't send any messages to anyone.

I have an iPod touch 5th generation (7.1.2) that has not been sending iMessages to other iMessage users. At first my iPod would not let me sign in to use iMessage, but I searched on different discussion boards that helped me log in. Now the trouble is not being able to send messages at all. I tried to delete the contact I was trying to message and restart the conversation board, but that didn't help at all. The contact continues to say 'xxxxxx not registered with iMessage" when, in fact, they are. I need help to resolve this issue.
    Thanks
