Trouble sending or receiving mms, sms and iMessage pictures

This is more of a tip than a question. My wife recently got an iPhone 4 and we had some problems with her appleID, which is what I think led to the problems with iMessage. I attempted first to reset the network settings, as well as following others advice of disabling iMessage, resetting network settings and then reenabling iMessage, but nothing helped. I could not send her a mms from my Android phone, nor could I send a photo from iMessage from my iPad. She also had trouble sending sms to other iPhone users. Something clued me in to her phone number as is it associated with her appleID. She had an appleID from before she got her iPhone, when we were living in the US. Turns out the country code and country setting in her appleID were still set for the US. After changing everything to our current country of residence, I did the turn off iMessage, reset network settings and reenable iMessage routine, and then everything started working normally.
TL:DR
Check your appleID profile country settings, country code and phone number.
Disable iMessage, reset network settings, reenable iMessage. Good luck!
Thanks to eveyone else who has contributed troubleshooting advice here, and I hope my experience helps other people with their problems.

not sure what carrier you are using but i use straighttalk and had same issue....here is how i resolved it
1. delete any profiles you have saved settings>general>profile  delete if you see profile there if not go to step 2
2. turn on wifi (my internet was also not working)
3. open safari
4. type iapnupdatetfdata.straighttalk.com
5. download profile
6. turn off wifi
7. turn off phone
8. turn on phone
my internet and pictures worked after this, any user, any carrier, no issues....hope this is helpful!

  • I can't send/get all of my SMS and iMessages.

I've turned iMessages on and off several times, logged into and out of iMessages, reset my network settings, and even went to the Genius Bar.  I get/can send some messages but not others for both SMS and iMessages.  my iPad seems to get everything, but it's not always convenient to have it out and using it.  I can send an iMessage on my phone but the reply will only show up on my iPad.  Same with SMS messages.  I have people who I know are on Apple devices, and can only send SMS messages on my phone...but their response will come thru as an iMessage on my iPad.  Some messages I don't even know I've received unless I check my iPad, which happened last week when my boss texted me several times and needed something from me and I had no clue he was trying to reach me until hours later when I checked my iPad.  Some iMessages I send work, others don't.  Not sure how to fix this.  I have an iPhone 6 using the latest software, if anyone could help that would be great.

Do you have the same iCloud account signed onto the phone as you do the iPad?
Are the Send/Receive addresses the same on both devices?
Are the Contacts the same on both devices?
What iOS is the iPad running?
    Cheers,

  • I bought an HTC one 2/28/14.  I had no trouble sending or receiving pictures with my texts.  I had to update my phone 6/5/14 and since that time I cannot send or receive pictures in my texts.  How can I fix that?

The thing is, before the update, I ALWAYS had my wifi on, and I had my mobile data off.  Worked flawlessly until the update.

  • SMS and iMessage Continuity

When you use Continuity to receive SMS messages on your desktop Mac, you have to be on the same Wi-Fi network. This means you don't have to worry about your SMS or MMS popping up on a work Mac if you're at home, or a school iPad if you're at a restaurant, or anywhere else beyond your reach.
I love this feature! But the problem is that it doesn't work with iMessage. If someone sends me an old-fashioned SMS, then it appears on my iMac only if I'm nearby. But if someone sends me an iMessage it pops up on my iMac - at work - even if I'm at home, and this is really annoying.
    Am I missing something?

    Hi,
Ever since Messages was in Beta during may to December 2012 it has had an element of "Sync" which is in fact "Display on All Devices".
The stated goal has always been to get to a point where SMS and iMessages could be seen on both types of Device (Mac and iOS).
As the app has changed on the Mac through Messages 7 in Mountain Lion and the ver 8 in Mavericks and the so  called ver 8 in Yosemite this has got closer during the various updates along the way.
Previous iChat versions have changed at Upgrades (OS X 10.8 to OS X 10.9 for instance) and sub version during update.
For Instance OS X 10.5.8 is the "end" of Leopard and at this point iChat is at version 4.0.9
This continues until we get to Mavericks.
There are at least three "builds" but all are still called version 8  (only error logs show you the difference)
In Yosemite the app still gets called Version 8 despite the Messages pane in the preferences completely  disappearing and the subsequent changes to the general section and the disappearance of the Format Menu. There are also changes to the way you are stuck with the Contacts app Pic and not an independent one in the app like before and the round Buddy pic s in Buddy lists and in the Chats with associated changes and removal of linked Menu items for such Displays in each (no more Name and Pics in Chats)
Have you tried Do Not Disturb in the Notifications (System Preferences) so that Alerts or Banners do not appear ?
The Setting in the General Section of the Preferences that says "When I Quit set the Status to Offline" does not work for the iMessages account which means the app will start up if iMessages are "heard"
This does seem to be different to the Mountain Lion and Mavericks versions.  However it does seem it stop the app launching but the DOCK displays the unread indicators.
I would take to unticking the "Enable this Account" box  if you need to leave the computer On.

  • Cannot send or receive MMS messages!!

I cannot send or receive MMS messages on my BT mobile HTC S620.  Also I keep getting the BT Set-up screen yet it won't proceed past the first step of four!  I have re-set this handset back to factory settings and updated the software via computer/download, however, I cannot find a solution to get my MMS messages! Help please?  (By the way wireless, emails and SMS messages work fine.)
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Sounds like something has gone wrong with regards to the MMS settings and looks like you'll need to re-enter them.
The settings I found for it as follows:
    Access point name: mobile.bt.uk
    Username: user
    Password: btmms
    Authentication: Normal
    Data bearer: GPRS
Gateway IP address: 212.183.137.012 or 62.239.21.123
    Session mode: Permanent
    URL address: http://mms.bt.com/servlets/mms or http://mmsc.btmms.co.uk:8002
We have also been told that the following settings may work for a corporate BT Mobile: APN: btmobile.bt.com , username:bt , password:bt, port:8799 , IP address:212.183.137.12
    My Motto:
Going to kill my HomeHub 2 very soon.

  • Won't send or receive MMS

My new iPhone 4 fails to send or receive MMS messages. Is this a hardware problem or a carrier problem? (Also, the battery life is awful. Barely lasts a day. But it seems that's another story...). This is my first iPhone. So far, a bit of a disappointment.

Thanks for your replies. For some reason, it's sorted itself out and I can send MMSs. However, now the email has stopped working and won't receive any new messages! Beginning to think the iPhone 4, or alt least OS 4.1 is a bit of a dud.

  • TS4268 My phone has recently stopped sending iMessage even though it has wifi also it has stopped automatically sending it as an SMS when iMessage isn't working I have to manually get it to send as a text message. I haven't changed any settings. Any sugge

Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
let it do it's thing and reset.
Then go to Settings > Messages > iMessages > enable
You'll then have to go back to your Wifi and re-enter your router credentials.

  • Iphone 5s not sending or receiving mms

Sending MMS is a carrier feature.  You'll have to deal with Verizon.

  • Nokia E71 Cannot send or receive MMS

    Help.
I cannot send or receive MMS on my Nokia E71.

You have to contact your mobile operator since they have the configuration data (which is operator specific).
Maybe if you let us know what your operator is (with the country) somebody might be able to help you.
By clicking the "Kudos!" or the "Solution?" button on the right you can say "Thank You" and you´ll show the author and others that the post is useful.

  • Is it possible to save an iPhone back up and access the files later if needed?  I have a string of text sms and iMessages that I would like to save and then delete them from my phone.  Is this possible?

I have a string of text sms and iMessages that I would like to save and then delete them from my phone, but gain access to them later if I need them.  I prefer to have the string with the date/time stamp vs copying and pasting into a doc or text file.  Is this possible?

Not unless you buy an app that accesses data from an iTunes backup.  Check in the app store.

  • Best way to view iPhone sms and imessage messages from backup

Hello I have sms and imessage messages that I would like to export from my phone or computer to be viewed on another device.  I know there is a way to view texts through third party software and I was wondering if there is one that is  particularly good at it or if there was a native way to do it?  Any help would be much appreciated as these texts will be used as evidence in a court case so some kind a log format with timestamps would be ideal.

I actually purchased GoodReader because it is easy to transfer files without iTunes.  I dislike the file sharing through iTunes.   You can use a Mac or PC.  Once I was in the app I clicked the "Wi-Fi" symbol which brings me to "WiFi-transfer."  It will show this --
    "WiFi status: ON
Use one of the following addresses exactly as you see them
    1. IP-address: http://192.168.0.98:8080 <-- Local LAN address the iPhone is broadcasting on.
    2. Bonjour-address http://Myname-iPhone.local:8080"
All you have to do is type one of those addresses into your browser. (Safari, etc.)
It will take you to a page that has iPhone Connection and a list of options.  You can either create a new directory within the application or use an existing one to upload a text file.  It's rather simple, you just select "Choose a file to upload" > Select your file > Press upload > Start the app and see your text/pdf/whatever file.
You can also connect to a server to download a text file, browse the web, or enter a url.  I see it also has an ICloud folder which I'm not sure if it integrates with Apple's iCloud or not, I think it does.  I'm not affliated with the app and I'm not saying you have to buy it, I'm just a happy user.
If you don't want to buy this app let me know I'll keep looking for a free or cheaper one for you if you want.
