Trouble setting up gmail account on new iPhone 6
so I've followed the instructions but every time I enter my password i get a message saying that there Is either an incorrect username and/or password. please help. Tried restarting phone and setting up again and again but it's not working.
Then you need to generate an application specific password to read gmail using the iOS mail app. The alternative is to download the gmail app from the app store and use it to manage your gmail.

This isn't a Apple iOS issue, it's something Google is doing.
I've tried 4x on my phones Mail app and I get the same error message. All was fine for months then today this error message. What's odd is if you go to Google's site to log in all is fine. Now a week ago I had a Android phone, I was always a iPhone person but since we left AT&T I tried something different. I hated that phone, my entire experience was just bad. Too be honest that was my 2nd time and last trying an Android phone. Now I don't know about anyone else but if you've jumped from Android and now having these problems, then there is something deeper then POP3 or Account Forwarding going on. -
Problem setting up store account on new iphone

I've just got an iphone 3gs for my wife, but I'm having a lot of difficulty setting up an account for her. I first tried to sign in with my own apple id. When I tried to download a free app, I was asked to verify my account, but when I put in the right details, clicked next - nothing happened. There were no error messages, the screen just doesn't move on and the next button disappears. So I tried to setup a new account for her. This time I got as far as the new account window, put in her email, password, dob and ticked subscribe options, pressed next - and again, nothing. The screen just sits there. I've installed updates and tried a hard reset. The other curious thing is that each time I hook the phone up to my Mac it sets it up as a new phone.

Most of the time, the problem lies here. You can try a couple of things. First, try only 3G or carrier data. Then, try only wifi. If that still doesn't work, your only other option is to try a different hotspot.
I had the same problem before when I updated to iOS 4.3. I thought it was the update at first. I usually have the carrier data turned off because my plan doesn't have an unlimited provision for it. I forgot that I also switched ISPs from DSL to a visibility unit package - meaning I had to setup my laptop so that I could get wifi from it. I realized this when I visited a friends house that I knew I could connect properly before.
My problem was with my laptop. It seems that Little Snitch blocks the ports being used for mail and push notifications. I haven't figured it out exactly since I still can't get email when I'm using my laptop connection. But, it works fine when I'm using ONLY 3G or both/wifi only if connected to a different hotspot.

Having trouble setting up adam email on new iphone 4
have never used an email account before and have today bought a new iphone 4. I use adam internet for my email - how do I go about setting this up. Think I have done it correctly but get nowhere. Message comes up 'Cannot Connect Using SSL'. Any help appreciated.
Here's some more info:
In the Servers tab, ensure that:
1. The Incoming (POP3) server is set to fpostoffice.isp.att.net and the Outgoing (SMTP) mail server is set to fmailhost.isp.att.net.
Note: When updating the secure server settings, check SSL checkbox first to update the port setting.
* Under Outgoing mail (SMTP) should be port 465 and the box next to server requires a secure connection (SSL) is checked.
* Under incoming mail (POP3) should be port 995 and the box next to server requires a secure connection (SSL) is checked.
2. The Incoming Mail Server User Name (Account name) and Password are entered.
3. The Remember password checkbox and the My server requires authentication checkbox are checked. -

anyone else having trouble adding a hotmail account on the new iphone 5?
Just got my phone 5 and have issues with Hotmail setup. says password is incorrect, but sure it is correct. will try deleting later after work and see if that clears issue.

Having trouble setting up email account on wifes iphone
My wife just got an iphone 4s and I have been unsuccessful in setting up her email account on the phone. I went through the step by step procedures. When I submit it always gives me a wrong user id or password message. I even went into the system and reset the password. Her email is a sub-account of mine. The email worked fine on her Samsung II, but now I can't get it to operate on the iphone.
I was having the exact same issue. It was driving me crazy. Just as a fluke, I tried logging in to my wife's account on the verizon.net website to se if I had a bad password or something. As soon as I logged in on my computer, her account verified & installed on her iphone. I have no idea why, but it worked.

Just set up an email account on new iPhone. How do I stop it wanti g to download all 4,000 emails off my server and just download new emails?
You can go into settings, mail, contacts and calendars, and set your mail to only download the last 50.
When you actually set upthe account, you can go into any available advanced settings and see if that can be set to new mail only. Unfortunately, every mail provider had slightly different things they'll allow you to tweak, so you just have to play to see what you can do.
For example, when I set up my Yahoo, I have different things I can tweak than I do on my Hotmail account, so some accounts allow more ability to tweak than others. -
I am unable to see any POP3 or IMAP tab when I set up an account in my iphone 4S. Hence by default all my email accounts become IMAP and the messages are deleted from the server when I delete them from the iphone.
ok sorry everyone but i solved it myself but the solution is so nuts i've posted it here to help others who have the same problem.
to setup a comcast imap account on your iphone:
go to mail, contacts, etc in settings
under accts, select add account
select "other"
new screen, choose "add mail account"
now on the new acct screen you must enter your name, email address and password for your GMAIL acct ! (yes i said your gmail acct !, or some other acct with a NON comcast address).
hit next
then the acct verifies
when verified a screen will open with all the acct settings for this acct AND @ the top of the screen are the 2 buttons > imap or POP
select imap and THEN CHANGE ALL THE ACCOUNT information to the comcast account !
then hit next and the account will take a couple minutes to verify but it will verify and now you have a comcast imap acct set up on your iphone. The problem must be that when the iphone sends the initial verify acct info to comcast (if you enter that information first) the comcast server is simply not setup yet to signal the iphone that there is an imap option. -
Cannot set up gmail account - keep getting SSL error
I cannot seem to set up my gmail account on my iPhone. Actually I deleted the account because it would not update at home and when trying to re-add the account now I cannot. I keep getting the SSL error which asks if I want to continue without SSL, if I push yes it does not work either, just says gmail verification has failed either way. I have read up on others responses and none have worked.
I have tried following the link to unlock my gmail, setting up my gmail account through the "other" option instead of gmail, turning off my firewall (I have a locked wireless connection at home) and even changing my gmail password. Nothing has worked.... PLEASE help!Okay so I was able to set up my gmail account at work, BUT I do not get automatic notifications anymore when I have a new email like I did before.... How do you fix a gmail account on an iPhone 4G that stops downloading messages into the InBox? My gmail gave me a notice that said imap.gmail.com is not responding. Can send emails out but cannot download new messages into Inbox.
Hi! So I finally found a disk cleaning kit and tried it out. No luck : (
The exact thing that occurs is:
Put disk in. It does not show up. Cannot get it out.
Turn computer on and off.
Message comes up saying it cannot read the disk and if I would like to erase the disk or eject it.
Then I eject it.
That's the whole of the cycle.
So do you think that just means it;s busted and no other way I can solve it but go with the external drive at this point?

You might be better off deleting the account and starting all over again with the account. Here is a gmail help site that will take you through all of the set up steps.
