Trouble "sharing" file from dataset

After pulling the submitted forms into a data set our user needs to  share them via email. She uses the Share tool in Adobe and sets it to  attach email.  This used to work fine but recently she is encountering a  bunch of problems. The file will not attach when it launches Outlook  2010. Often times it is causing Adobe to crash and shutdown. We have  tried to run the repair Acrobat  Installation.  This occasionally will  work for 2 or 3 files and then stops working again. This morning we  tried the repair but it didn't help.

However, I still don't understand what the problem is that you're describing. What is this YT window that tells you it is Quick Time? When does it appear? Is it an error message? Quick Time movies are compatible with YT. It's the container I always use with h.264 and I never have any problems.
Hi Russ,
The window I reference is the FCPx window that appears when I go File>share>youtube At the bottom of this FCPx window there is a line where I see icons and numbers. Toward the right, just above the "cancel" and "next" buttons, I read "QuickTime" movie.
When I click to share the video, it goes through the normal steps and appears to be uploading. Just at the end of the uploading process, all of a sudden, I receive an error message about "invalid file format".
I'm puzzled because this issue has happened only with my last two videos, but it never happened before.

  • I am having trouble moving files from iPhoto to a thumb drive.  Sometimes I can move 20 photos next time I can only move 2 photos or 0---this is during the same session.  I also have trouble downloading photos to the internet.  Can someone please help?

I am having trouble moving files from iphoto to a thumb drive.  During the same session sometime I can move 10 photos at a time, the next time I can only move one photo and sometime no photos will move.  I also have trouble downloading photos to the internet.  I was using a MacBook Pro and had no problems like this.  I then upgraded to the MacBook Pro with Retina Vision and this is the computer I am having problems with.  Can anyone please give me a suggestion in how to fix this problem. THANK YOU.

iPhoto problems should be posted in their forums.
I also have trouble downloading photos to the internet.
Needs clarification.  You upload from your computer to the internet & download from a website/internet to your computer.  So which are you trying to do?  Either way, sounds like a browser issue.  You need to post in the forum of whichever browser you are using.

    Thank you for your post,
    Sorry it is 10.5.2
    Did as you suggested:
“Disable file-sharing on the XP machine and reboot. Then re-enable file-sharing and reboot”.
But no luck, have put another folder on my PC desk top called “test” and enable file-sharing on it.
This file also shows up on my mac under Shared>”my PC” but I also get the message on the mac after the one above “A volume Failed to mount the volume “Documents” could not be mounted”
(sorry about this I really am very new to the world of Mac)

  • Need some help with sharing files from a Mac G3 to a Mac G4

I've read through some of the forum comments here and checked with help, but still have a great deal of trouble understanding how to share files between two computers, especially when one has OSX 10.3.9 and the other has 9.2.2. I have these two computers connected with a router, but just can't seem to pass files from my G3 to my G4. All of the instructions I read are very confusing- subnet mask, IP address etc. Is there an area I can go to to get a better understanding? It seems like this shouldn't be very difficult. Is there an inherent problem because of the different systems? Thanks for any help I can get.
    Dick Skover

I printed the article from Francine, and followed all of the steps and it just doesn't work. Actually, one of the first steps is to go to AppleTalk under the control panels and select "Connect via Ethernet" which I did, but got a "no zones available in that box and no options shown in that box. Is there a problem with the fact that I am connected through a router? Should I have a direct connection between computers without the router?
I'm also reading the files sharing section of David Pogue's book on OSX The Missing Manual, but still can't get a handle on it. Any further help would be appreciated.

  • Shared file from computer with Windows 7 slow to open and save on computer with Windows 8.1

I have three computers in homegroup. They can see each other and sharing files is not a problem. Main computer, where I have all my data on uses Windows 7 Home premium, and Office 2007. Both other computers use latest version Windows 8.1, Office 2010. I
use these two computers to access files on main computer (word, excel). I have problems, because when I try to open word and excel files on these two other computers, files open very slow (green bar is showing, although word has no text inside), and also saves
very slow - empty word file takes 1 minute for saving.
One of computers with 8.1 had 8 before updating and I managed to solve this problem with running this protocol (smb.bat) - this solved the problem, although I do not really understand why:
    sc config lanmanworkstation depend= bowser/mrxsmb10/nsi
    sc config mrxsmb20 start= disabled
So it seems it is really something to do with the version of windows since the same computer had windows 8 and this protocol and worked well, but when updated to 8.1 it works slowly (I tried this protocol, but it is not working)
Please see if there is any solution (updated protocol?) because I really cannot wait for word file to open 1 minute.
    Thank you for help!

    Hi,
First, You can leave the homegroup and join again to see the result.
    To leave a homegroup:
1.Open HomeGroup by typing homegroup in the search box, and then clicking HomeGroup.
    2.Click Leave the homegroup.
3.Click Leave the homegroup, and then click Finish.
You can also join the homegroup in the way accordingly.
Besides, this happens after a upgrade to Windows 8.1, this also might be caused by service conflict, I suggest to perform a clean boot to solve this:
1.Swipe in from the right edge of the screen, and then tap Search. Or, if you are using a mouse, point to the lower-right corner of the screen, and then click Search.
2.Type msconfig in the search box, and then tap or click msconfig.
3.On the Services tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click to select the Hide all Microsoft services check box, and then tap or click Disable all.
4.On the Startup tab of the System Configuration dialog box, tap or click Open Task Manager.
5.On the Startup tab in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then click Disable.

  • I am having trouble copying files from disk to disk, help.

I have a Dual 2 GHz PowerPC G5 running Tiger 10.4.3. I am having a problem copying files since I installed Tiger. I am trying to copy from drive "LaCie d2 195 GB", this is a Firewire 800 external drive, to drive "250GB HD", this is an internal drive. The folder that I am having trouble with this morning has 16 PhotoShop files inside of it, it is 768.5 MB. I get this message:
The finder canot comlete the opperation because some data in "Black Valve 3.psd" could not be read or written. (Error code -36)
I tried to open the file in PhotoShop and it would not open, I had to force quit PhotoShop twice to make PhotoShop to close. I opened a copy of the same file with PhotoShop, that was in another folder on drive "250GB HD" and replaced the file on drive "LaCie d2 195 GB". I opened the newly saved file from drive "LaCie d2 195 GB" with PhotoShop with no problem.
To test the time needed I coppied the same folder from "250GB HD" to my startup drive in 48 seconds. Next I copied the folder a second time from "LaCie d2 195 GB" to the "250GB HD", it took 10 minutes and 54 seconds.
My question is do you think the drive is bad or might I reformat "LaCie d2 195 GB" and make it work better?

Error code -36 is an i/o error. That usually means that the computer is having a problem reading or writing the file you're working with, which in turn usually means that the drive has a problem. A sudden slowdown of the magnitude you meantion usually means a severely damaged directory or physical damage to the disk. I'd run a disk fixer such as Disk Utility or Disk Warrior on the slow drive. If it reports problems which can't be fixed, which I suspect it will, I'd back everything up. I just had a LaCie 250GB drive die on me with similar problems (i/o errors, very slow access) and returned it under the warranty.

  • Trouble sharing files across networked computers

I frequently have this problem when trying to copy files from my MBP at home to my PowerMac at work and vice versa. Regardless of how the connection between the two machines is made (smb, MobileMe), when I try to copy a file or folder, I get a message saying 'You may need to enter the name and password for an administrator on this computer to change the item named "filename.xxx".'
I am the administrator for both machines, and I am logged in to both as the administrator when this message occurs.
At this point, I have buttons giving me the option to Stop or Continue. Clicking Continue brings up a message saying 'The item "filename.xxx" contains one or more items you do not have permission to read. Do you want to copy the items you are allowed to read?'
Again I have the option to Stop or Continue. Clicking Continue gives me the message 'The operation cannot be completed because you do not have sufficient privileges for some of the items.' This message comes up even though I am logged in as the administrator on both machines and I have made sure that I've got read & write privileges for that file.
At this point, I'm stymied. This occurs whether I'm attempting to transfer a single file, a folder, or an archive. I've adjusted sharing preferences on both machines so that I specifically have full privileges for both the source and target folders as well as the file(s) being moved. Both machines are running OSX 10.5.8.
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance -

Hi Keven - just wanted to chime in that I can replicate this error on a nearly identically configured setup as yours, but like you, have no substantive response (yet) from Apple. In fact, my post disappeared. The only thing I see, perusing the forums, is that people are recommending Snow Leopard upgrade to solve numerous networking issues. I realize this is not a satisfactory answer. I will stay subscribed to your post and will let you know if Apple comes back to me with a good response as well.

  • Trouble opening files from LR3 to CS4, desaturation occurring.

I upgraded from LR2 to 3 a while ago, and recently, I've had an odd problem opening my lightly edited files into CS4.  I just do command E on my mac, and they open right into CS4.  When the image(s) open, they almost seem completely desaturated?  I shoot a nikon D700, raw, copy the NEF files into LR3 upon import, do light edits in LR (white balance, recovery, tone curve, some adjustment brush...) and then will open selected files into CS4 for futher tweaking.  Any idea why these images are doing this?  If I go back into lightroom and "reset all settings" and then open, the images open fine.  Help, i'm about to pull my hair out!!!
Here is a screen shot showing the image in LR (left) and then how it opens in CS4.
Thank you in advance for your help!  I'm currently running version 3.6 of lightroom and 11.0.2 of CS4

    Nope I am in sRGB.....
It has been very confusing because I can get an image to open normally in CS4 by resetting ALL the settings.... i wrote down the settings, re-set, made sure it opened with the correct color rendition/not desaturated (for lack of a better term.....), and then went through and "re-created" the image step by step, starting with white balance and on down, and opening it in CS4 every step, to see what was making the color render that way in CS4.  I think I have narrowed it down to the Nikon V4 camera profiles... because if I set my camera profile to "d2x mode1 v2" it opens normally (with all of my other lightroom edits made...) but if i simply switch to "d2x mode 1 v4" it will desaturate upon opening in cs4.
I've also had troubles like this from time to time in the past, and thought it had something to do with the adjustment brush.
Has anyone encountered this problem before??  Is it a compatibility issue with CS4 being an older version of photoshop?

  • Sharing files from another mac

I would like to share files from my macbook pro to the macbook air. I went into the pro and turned on the sharing ability in the user file. when I looked at this from the air, and clicked on the music, a message came up that said " I dont have permission to see these contents". how can i change this so I can use the files?

  • Trouble Getting Files From mini-DVD (Handycam)

I don't know the first thing about those little camcorders that record to mini-DVD, but I'm working on a movie for a girl's dance team, and while most of what they gave me to work with was miniDV on an external HD, they did give me a mini-DVD with just under four minutes of footage on it to use also. Fortunately that disc isn't very important to them, and I don't really have to use it.
Anyway, I can't play the disc in my set-top DVD player; it says there's no disc. My computer's DVD player will play it fine using PowerDVD Player. I tried to rip the disc using DVD-Shrink and it acts like there's no disc in the tray too. Then I managed to rip it to the desktop as an ISO image with DVD-Decrypter with no problems. After that I tried to open the ISO image with DVD Shrink and it says: "Invalid UDF File System".
So, anyone have any idea how I can get the VOB files from this ISO image?

Well I think I kind of did that Bill. That is, I managed to rip the DVD to the desktop via DVD Encrypter and then burned the new ISO file to a new DVD. It still wouldn't open with anything I have that converts ISO to VOB files.
I looked at Sony's website about Handycams and it says this:
"After finalizing the disc in the camcorder, the disc can play back in most DVD Players".
The disc they gave me is a DVD-RW. Maybe the disc hasn't been finalized?
    But Sony also says:
"With DVD+RW media there is no need to finalize the disc (minimum recording required); simply remove the finalized disc and insert the media into a compatible DVD or Blu-ray Disc Player."
But the disc they gave me is DVD-RW rather than DVD+RW. At any rate I'm wondering now if maybe they should have finalized the disc before giving it to me and forgot to do it. The disc only has about 4-minutes of footage on it, so I'm guessing maybe they didn't finalize it because they thought they would add more later. I'll have to track down the owner and see what they have to say.
    Thanks

  • Sharing files from windows with mountain lion

SINCE THE RELEASE OF LION AND MOUNTAIN LION. I HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO PROPERLY SHARE FILES FROM MY MACBOOK PRO (MID 2009) TO MY WINDOWS DESKTOP (VISTA HOME PREMIUM) WITHOUT LOGGING IN AS A GUEST. I PRESS CTRL+K ON MY MAC, I TYPE IN SMB://IP ADDRESS (NOT GOING TO SAY EXACTLY MY IP IS) AND A LOGIN SCREEN POPS UP. IT ASKS FOR A USER NAME AND PASSWORD. I USED TO ABLE TO LOGIN WITH MY USER NAME THAT'S ON MY MAC AND NO PASSWORD. HOWEVER; SINCE LION AND MOUNTAIN LION HAVE BEEN RELEASED I HAVE BEEN FORCED TO LOOK INTO MY WINDOWS FROM MY MAC AS A GUEST. I NEED HELP FIGURING OUT WHY IM BEING FORCED TO USE GUEST.

Open Keychain Access App, it is in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder. Then look through it for entries for your PC, Like username and or name of PC.
But in the end I don't really think that is going to solve your problem. Like everything with computers at any time something can get screwed up and it happens mostly when you are Upgrading to a New OS over the top of an older OS. This happen with Windows and Mac OS X.
So if my suggestion has no affect on you being able to log in to a Real User Account on the Win PC then it is something that happened durring the upgrade from you older version of OS X to Mt Lion. About the only way to correct that is to wipe the drive and reinstall clean. you can then use a current Time Machine backup to restore just your Files, Programs and Setting from that backup without overwriting the system files of that new install of Mt Lion.

  • How to read shared files from win7 machine?

    Hi all,
Sorry to have to ask and bother you guys, but this is harder than I thought I have already set up my Windows 7 machine such that it is in a home group, but I still can't get my mac to find the files I have shared. Set up:
    - Main desktop is a Windows 7 home premium 64 bit machine
    - I want my newly acquired Macbook Air to view the shared files
    - The desktop is connected to the router via LAN while my MBA via Wifi, if this is of any significance I already have the IP addresses for both computers, and as they're both on 192.168.1.XXX it should mean that they're indeed both connected via the same router, which I thought would've made things easier. I kept on trying to get my MBA to find my desktop by looking up the desktop's IP address but it doesn't work. Was wondering if anyone know what I'm doing wrong, thanks so much in advance!!

    I can offer 2 suggestions.
    1) On your PC, click on the Start button and select Getting Started. Then select Share a homegroup. Near the bottom of the dialog box there are several options. One is troubleshooting. Run through the troubleshooting steps to make sure filesharing is really running.
    2) if it is running properly, when you open a window on the Mac and look at the sidebar, you should see your PC computer listed under Shared. To log onto your Windows computer you should only need to select it and type in your Windows account name and password.

  • Trouble merging files from a Mozy backup to iTunes

Help! I had to reformat my hard drive and got everything back on the computer but my Mozy backup put the files in its own file system :P How do I merge those files with iTunes? Every time I try to open something in iTunes it says cannot find file and I don't know how to merge them back into the original place that they were.... I guess my main question would be.... what is iTunes original file folder located on an XP operating system? and, would just moving the files from various locations back to the original iTunes folder do the trick? Thank you for any help on this matter

Open itunes on the new destination computer
Open Preferences (click itunes) click advanced
write down where your itunes file is located (I have to write it down... age)
then get this program for mac http://download.cnet.com/SyncTwoFolders/3000-2242_4-99079.html?tag=recommendedDo wnloads
and this for PC SyncBack http://download.cnet.com/SyncBack-Freeware/3000-2242_4-10413802.html?tag=mncol;1
and sync the folders.... That should do the trick.
