Trouble sharing photos on Apple TV 2

I'm having problems accessing my iphoto library from Apple TV 2.  I get a message on the Apple TV asking me to "Choose photos to share" from the Advanced menu in iTunes.  I've already done this but to no avail.
Strangely, the screensaver on the Apple TV is already using my iPhoto library.
Also, in the Photo Sharing Preferences screen on iTunes the Revert and Apply buttons are greyed out.
Any ideas?
P.S. I've got iTunes 10.2.2 installed.

I am having the sma eproblem and am on the phone with Apple as I write this.  They don't have an answer so far.  What I've noticed is that the Photo Sharing preferences in iTunes has a lot of options greyed out.
Our iTunes/iPhoto are running on a MacMini Server.
Latest versions of all OS's and software.

I have trouble sharing photos in my iPod 4th generation with an iPad 2 user. I've sent an invitation to an iPad user to share my shared album with him but he didn't receive any email regarding on this invitation. Whereas, when the iPad user invite me to share his album, I've receive the email and joined his photostream. Unfortunately, the album didn't appear in my iPod. Can someone help me identify the problem? Thank you

    Hi LCelineee,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
These tips may help if your shared photo stream invitation is not being received:
I've sent email invitations to my shared stream, but not everyone received one.
    Try these troubleshooting steps:
Ask the person you're inviting to check any junk or spam email folders for the invitation.
Try resending the invitation. If a recipient still doesn't get the invitation, send it to a second or alternate email address for that person. The recipient's mailbox may be full, or either the person or the email service provider may have a filter that is preventing the email from being delivered. If you're using iOS 7, you can also send the invitation to the phone number that the recipient uses for iMessages.
If the person has received an invitation at least once in the past, that person may have opted to unsubscribe from future iCloud Photo Sharing emails. See the section on opting out of emails, below, for more details.
If none of these steps resolve the issue, contact Apple Support for further assistance.

  • Sharing Photos to Apple TV

Before updating to Photos I was able to share my pictures from iPhoto to my Apple TV.  Now, with the new Photos installed, my pictures are no longer available on Apple TV.  I have not changed any settings, and I do not see how to share Photos to Apple TV.

Ok, it looks to me like you MUST have your photos shared to the cloud in order to access them on Apple TV.  And with the size of my library I would need to buy 200Gb of cloud storage to hold all my photos.  Am I correct in this conclusion?
I don't want my photos in the cloud to be honest, and if this is truly the case, I think it's terrible of Apple to make this change.  I sure hope I'm wrong!  If not, this makes me sad.

  • Resolution of Home Sharing photos with Apple TV 3?

Let's say you have an Apple TV 3 and you have configured Home Sharing so the Apple TV 3 can view the photos in iPhoto on a Mac in your network. Using the Apple TV 3, are the photos displayed on your TV from iPhoto on the Mac in 1080p? I have an Apple TV 2 and the photo resolution does not seem super great compared to directly connecting the Mac to my TV. I asked at my local Apple Store and they didn't really know.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Obviously not, the Apple TV 2 can only output 720p.

  • Home Sharing Photos on Apple TV 2 Not Staying in Sync

I have successfully shared photos from my PC to my Apple TV via iTunes, by going to Advance > Choose Photos to Share. Slide shows work GREAT!
However, when I add new photos to that folder, they do not appear on my Apple TV. I have to go back into iTunes and re-select the folder to share in order to see them on the Apple TV.
Is there a way to allow the folder to stay in sync?
If not, can I specify how frequently the Apple TV checks for new photos?
This seems like a bug! Please help.

  • Sharing photos with Apple TV

Since updating to iTunes v.11.3 I have been unable to share my Aperture photos with my Apple TV. After Home Sharing has been turned on I try to choose which photos to share. The Photos Sharing Preferences window opens and the little gear begins to turn and turn and turn and turn... It never shows my photos lists.
I've tried repairing permissions, rebooting my computer, quiting and restarting iTunes, and quiting and restarting Home Sharing.
    Any ideas!

    I've solved the problem.
In Photos, Select Preferences.  In the General Tab, make sure that the path to your external Photos library shows in the Library Location.  Then click on the Use as System Library Photo Library button.
In iTunes 12.1.12, you will now be able to select your specific albums as before.
I updated my Apple TVs to the latest updates.
The specific photo albums can be accessed in Apple TV now.

  • Trouble sharing photos with iCloud

I am trying to share photos from my wife's iPad mini to my iMac using iCloud.
I created an album with about 20 photos on her iPad and shared it using my email. I received the email invitation on my iMac to subscribe to her album. I double clicked and there is now an icon in iMac iPhoto>iCloud>Family and Friends' Streams with the name of the album from the iPad.
However, there are no photos in the new icon. I have enabled iCloud>Photos>iCloud Photo Sharing in System Preferences on both the iMac and the iPad.
Why aren't the photos showing up in the iMac iPhoto?
Thanks for any help you can offer.

I had to create TIFF files for 30 fotos or so. The other 50 did not pose a problem. I am still not 100% clear why this is. I suspect this has to do with having those photos coming from iPhoto and then imported into Aperture.
Before I hit this issue, I just re-installed Mavericks, because I experienced hanging situations. Mail would have hanging threads ("waiting for semaphore"). Basically after 20 hours or so, apps that use the cloud would all be hanging. There was no way to get this going again, apart from a reboot.
So I decided to reinstall Mavericks.
After the new installation I noticed that some iCloud streams were not visible in Aperture, that is where I created that missing stream and started to copy the photos to it. And that is where I encountered this hang issue in Aperture.
Retrospectively, I suspect the hanging apps were also caused by this.
So for people who experience hanging iCloud apps, try to delete all photostreams and re-set them. If you notice that Aperture becomes unresponsive, Quit Aperture and re-start it. Then right click on the photo and select "edit the photo in an external program". This will create a TIFF version of the photo that caused Aperture to become unresponsive when copying it to the photostream. Reject the original photo and copy the TIFF to the photostream.
Do this will all photos that cause Aperture to become unresponsive when you copy them to a photostream.
Don't forget to rebuild Aperture's database by holding command-option while clicking the Aperture icon. After rebuilding, you will find a lost folder with the fotos that were in the stream.
You may have to re-create the stream after all "bad" photos have been identified and the re-build was successful and then copy all photos in one go.
    Good luck.

  • Trouble sharing photo created on iphoto

I tried to send a message created on iphoto but i keep getting a message saying the server doesn't recognize my email password

Go into iPhoto's Accounts preference pane and delete the mail account that's there.  Now add it back.
Another option and better IMO is to set Mail as the email client for iPhoto in iPhoto's General preferences pane.  Mail gives you a sent version of every email, better access to your Contacts and also has photo templates in Mail's stationary section.

  • Trouble sharing photos

When I click share, the drop down menu says "no network connection", and all the options are greyed out. What does this mean?  My internet connections are working fine.

Same thing for me.  I'm connected, but it keeps telling me there is no network connection.  This has happened several times lately and always when it's trying to add places.  My last import actually showed the correct town name (from the GPS apparently), but will not allow me to send copies to any destination.

  • HT201077 I am having trouble deleting individual photos from my iPad on shared photo streaming.

I am having trouble deleting individual photos on Shared Photo Streaming on my iPad 2. There is not a trash can or delete option. If I choose edit on the first page, and I try to delete, the next step is to cancel photo sharing, which I don't want to do.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Youre trying to delete photos from someone else's shared photostream. You can only delete photos that belong to you.

  • Trouble sharing Music and Photos on new Mac Book Pro

I am loving my new Mac Book Pro. Front Row seems quite promising, but I'm having problems with shared music and photos.
I have an airport network in my home and have most of my music and photos stored on my desktop (Dual G4). When I open iTunes on my new MBP the shared music works just fine. Similarly, iPhotos shows the shared photos from my desktop on my MBP.
But, when I try using Front Row, I get an error message saying that there is no shared content. I found a work around that seems to work most (but not all) of the time. If I open iTunes first, start playing a song (shared from the desktop) and then switch over to Front Row it shows that song as now playing and then the rest of the shared music is available.
I have used Software Update to download the latest version of all software on both computers and for my airport network.
Any help you can offer will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    David
Mac Book Pro, G4 desktop   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    Heya David,
If you haven't already please update to 10.4.8. If issue persists then try the following:
Remove the following files to the trash (do not empty until you test for function):
    ~/library/caches
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.itunes.plist
    ~/library/prefernces/com.apple.iphoto.plist
    ~/library/preferences/com.apple.frontrow.plist
    - Repair your permissions - > http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=DiskUtility/10.5/en/duh17.html
    - Restart your computer again
    - Test and see how its working
    Hope that helps!

  • Shared photo streams in iPhoto and Apple TV

Why is this proving so difficult for Apple to get right?
All I want to do is create private albums that I can share with family and have them sync back to my Mac so that all I need to do is organise my photos ONCE (i.e. on iPhone or iPad) and see these albums in iPhoto where they are also backed up locally.
I've created a shared photo stream album, shared it with my wife... she can see it on her phone... great.
I look in my iPhoto and there is no sign whatsoever that I've ever created a shared album. Just the main photo stream mess as usual.
Also, I go to my Apple TV and the same thing, just the same "every photo ever" mess.
I've recently taken to using Vimeo because this provides exactly what I need for home video. Create edited video in iMovie for iPad or Mac, then upload it to Vimeo, and share it only with family. I can then view them back on Mac, Apple TV, iPad etc.
