Trouble shooting paper jam

Any one that can assist, will be  appreciated
Printer when printing in "fast print"  option was jammed. I openned the back  panel and pulled out paper that was jammed. Now printer stayed in  the same loop of asking to take out paper jamm and press "ok".
When ok is pressed  it makes some noises but goes back to where it was. Clear paper Jam.
Tried turning power button off, but it doesnt turn off.
When electrical cable is desconnected to force  power off, it returns to the same  message of requiring to clean the papaer jam.
I havent been able to get the printer out of this loop even though it has no physical ramains of paper jam.
 Anyone has a solution for this?
Tony

Please read this post then provide some details. What printer model?

  • H470 resume light on and all other lights off. Did everything listed in trouble shooting.

    I need help fixing this. Checked and performed everything described on the HP trouble shooting page for the H470. Nothing worked. Printer does normal startup check and then resume light flashes and all other lights are off.

    This light pattern indicates that there is a paper jam or a paper motor stall.
    Turn off the printer and then:
    1. Clear the paper jam
    2. Remove loose paper from the tray
    3. Open the front cover and remove any paper jam (look for small pieces as well)
    4. Make sure the carriage moves freely (where you put the ink cartridges in)
    5. Turn the printer back on and attempt to print a self test page (Press and hold the power button and press the resume button four times)
    6. With the printer on, unplug the power cord, wait 15 seconds and plug back in and turn on
    7. Attempt another self test page.

  • C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message 'clear paper jam.' There is no paper jam.

    C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message  'clear paper jam.'  There is no paper jam.  About a month ago there was a paper jam, but was removed.  It worked fine since then until yesterday.  I've tried all the HP trouble-shooting suggestions- unplug, take apart, manually move carriage, etc. and nothing has solved the problem.  The paper does not advance...all that happens if I try to print is a lot of noise like carriage going back and forth and after a/b 1-2 minutes it will show the "red X" blinking on the printer and a message on the computer screen, "Clear paper jam."  When the problem first started yesterday the message was that the printer was "Out of paper."  I need to print a resume and this is just the wrong time for someone such as myself with little computer knowledge to try to figure it out.  Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi there pattimessick,
    You may not need to remove/re-add. Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
    It can fix a lot on its own (especially connectivity problems) and if not give a better idea of what is going on.
    Best of Luck!

  • Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer

    Paper Jam for HP PSC 1610 All-in-One Printer:
    I had a paper jam and cleared the paper from the printer.  Now every time I turn the printer "on" it picks up the top piece of paper from the tray and runs it about ½  to ¾ of the way thru the paper feed, stops, and then displays message "paper jam clear paper and then press OK".  When I do that it simply picks up the next piece of paper off the tray and does the message again.  If I push the OK button on the printer it will simply finish the ejection and then pick up the next paper from the tray, and do the same thing.  I have examined the interior (and exterior) of the printer for paper scraps and  any other obvious sign of trouble (dirty drive wheels, missing rollers, broken springs, etc...) and can not see anything unusual. I can not print a test print because of the paper jam message.  I am running Windows XP and the printer has been working fine for months (until this recent jam).  I did all the steps from the HP fix it site including clean rollers, plug and unplugged,  carriage travel OK and more. Don't know what to do now........Any help would be great!!!!   Thank you!

  • HP OfficeJet All-in-One Paper Jam

    I have been given to troubleshoot an OfficeJet 6210 All-in-One Printer/copier/fax machine.  It suffered a paper jam for its troubles.  I had cleared the jam from the machine and checked everywere else I could check freely without cracking it open.  I restarted it and it gave me the same error.  I finally had it do a partial reset to try and fix it.  What it gave me was the same error message.  Short of opening it up with a screwdriver and patience, what could potentially still keep giving me the error message after all steps have been taken to clear it and it failed?

    @CAGY, take a look at this HP link on how to clear a jam.

  • Why does my Pixma MP 980 sometimes print and other times give me 5700 paper jam msg untrue?

    I'm having trouble with an erratic printer Pixma MP 980. Somtimes it prints (wireless connection) and other times it receives job but doesn't do it, saying there's a paper jam (error msg 5700 - turn off printer, get jammed paper out - there is no jammed paper - and if it doesn't work then, consult manual.)
    Manual has nothing about this in Troubleshooting that I can find. Why does the printer work sometimes, then not? It repeats even after I turn it on and off, but only after a successful printing. Then next job is error, but no paper jam to prove it.

    Hello marykennedy,
    Unfortunately, when the 5700 error repeatedly displays on the printer, the printer will require servicing to determine the exact cause of the issue.  Please click on the Contact Us link below to obtain servicing options.

  • Inexplicable paper jams on 4250 printer

    Hi Everyone,
    I am not able to find the cause of a printer problem. I have two networked laserjets printers (2100 and 4250) on the same network. The 4250 is a new printer and was working fine while the 2100 started having paper jams. Assuming that the 2100 (10 years old) may need cleaning or is having other problems, I removed the 2100 from the network and connected the 4250 to the same network cable. The 4250 began to have the paper jams just like the 2100. I brought both printers to the room where the 4250 was originally connected and each printer worked fine through a parallel port cable direct connection from a computer. I decided to experiment with only the new 4250. I connected the 4250 to the network and it was working fine for more than 10 days until this morning when the same paper jams started to occur. I have unplugged the power, the network cable and restarted the printer several times but the paper jams continue. Another curious thing is that when these paper jams occur, the printer prints more than one copy even though the job requests only one. For example, if I send a test page, the paper jams on the printer below the cartridge. After removing the jammed paper and re-installing the toner cartridge, the printer starts to print another copy and jams each time.
    The printer was shutdown and unplugged for more than 20 minutes and then restarted. It still jams even when the job is sent over a parallel port cable direct connection.
    I do not if this is normal. Once the printer is restarted and goes through the self-test and intialization, it gives the message Genuine HP Cartridge installed and then says processing job (even though there is no job). The light blinks for a few seconds and then it comes into the Ready state.
    Could this be a line voltage problem?
    Thank you in advance.
    Saleem

    I'm assuming you are referring to fairly heavy stock paper. It isn't at all uncommon for consumer level printers to have trouble with heavy (thick & stiff) paper. The problem is two fold: 1) thick paper doesn't bend so it won't feed well through laser printers trays and 2) some heavy stock paper is 'slippery' and the rubber rollers can't grab the paper well so it misfeeds.
    In the inexpensive consumer line, inkjet printers tend to work with this paper better than laser printers which have to be manually fed one sheet at a time. More expensive laser printers have a straight through feed option that don't require manual attention.

    If this is your only Backup would suggest getting a New EHD and creating another one... Preferably a Clone if you don't already have one.

  • HP Laserjet 1010 paper jam issue

    I know this is not specifically an Apple problem, but I have spent days searching for a solution elsewhere with no luck, so I was wondering if anyone here could help?
    My HP LaserJet 1010 had some issues with printed pages not coming right through - they jammed right at the last minute when most of the page was out.
    After carefully removing the sheet, the paper jam light is constantly flashing, despite there being no paper in sight. No amount of resetting, cleaning etc has any effect. Neither do the rollers move any more when it is switched on, as they are supposed to.
    When I try to print, the driver program gives the error:
    "Printer Error: The printer needs attention"
    Any ideas for how to solve this would be much appreciated.

    Chances are the printer has a small bit of paper that is still jammed in it. When paper jams always try to pull in the direction of the paper path! If it tears then remove the toner cartridge to see if you can see any bits of paper inside. I have the Laserjet 1012 which is a similar design, early in it's life I had a similar issue, after removing the toner cartridge and seeing all bits of paper were gone I still got an error. I then removed the top cover of the printer, located and removed the offending piece of paper, put it back together and now several thousands of pages later all is fine.
    If that doesn't work then contact HP's support (they will reply to an email with 24 hours) or go the chat route. If you try to call because you are well out of warranty there will be charge.

    Hi,
    Strikes -
    Go into compositionReady and have 3 variables you will be able to set them like this
    strike1 = 0;
    strike2 = 0;
    strike3 = 0;
    So on the wrong item click have
    if(strike1 == 0) {
    PLAY STRIKE1 ANIMATION
    strike1 = 1;
    else if(strike2 == 0) {
    PLAY STRIKE2 ANIMATION
    strike2 = 1;
    else if(strike3 == 0) {
    PLAY STRIKE2 ANIMATION
    strike3 = 1;
    So this will make it so when the wrong item is clicked each strike will be played in order.
    Random Scrolling -
    You should look into the Math.Random function to make things random in edge.
    This is an example of the Random function. It will generate a random number up to 100.
    var random = Math.floor (Math.random () * 100);
    Lose Screen Score -
    So we can create another variable in compositionReady for the lose score.
    score = 0;
    Now when the user gains a point to add to the score you could do this code on the click
    score++;
    which would add 1 to the score, However you can add however much you like to the score doing "score + 2" and so on.
    To edit a text with the score at the end which I'm assuming you will want to do you will use .html
    so $("Text").html("You score is " + score);
    I hope this helps!

  • Troubleshooting a paper jam and print cradle.

    Hi
    The print cradle cannot sometimes move to it's right position in my HP All-in-one Photosmart C3180 printer.
    I have tried several things and also been talking to customer support in Norway and in the U.S. about my isssues with the printer. It seems that my printer has done it's last printing job, but I'm looking for more help if there's another troubleshooting or if people here in the support forum knows about other procedures which can fix my printer.
    * Checklist of what I've done
    1. Resetting the printer accurately.
    2. Uninstall/install all print cartridges.
    3. Looking for any paper jams or barriers which can cause the print cradle to not move. But there are no barriers.
    The cradle sometimes wont get back to it's position only.
    3. Cleaning the printer (doesn't work because of the cradle wont move.
    4. Cleaning the cradle and sensors.

    Hello @AKAJEF ,
    Thank you for joining us on the HP Forums today, hope you enjoy your time with us!
    At this point all I can say is it is a hardware issue and you are looking at replacing the printer.
    Sorry to be the person that had to tell you that but I can't offer any more direction past what you have already done. I would recommend calling phone support back and seeing what options they have for you.
    If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
    HP printers generally have a 1 year warranty from their purchase date, you can verify the warranty using the following link if you would like; warranty check.
    I hope this helps. Sorry that I couldn't be of any help, printers are hard to deal with when it comes to hardware as replacement parts aren't sold separately.
    I worked for HP.
