Trouble sorting my music in a playlist on my iPhone 5s IOS 8 software.

You will need to be a little more specific. Can you provide a little more detail? What kind of playlist. What exactly are you trying to do?

  • How do you play music from a playlist on an iPhone without using WiFi and iCloud?

I travel in a RV and frequently park in campgrounds that do not have WiFi. I've been told I can copy iTunes playlists (selected from my copied CDs on my Mac) onto my iPhone 5S. I can then, using a mini stereo jack go from the output on the iPhone to the aux input on my DVD player and thereby play my playlists of copied CD music on my RV sound system. All well and good except I tried my Music app on my iPhone and could not find a play function. I found the iTunes Radio but that only seemed to work with a WiFi connection. What am I missing?
As you can tell, I am not experienced with the iPhone although I've used a Mac for years. Is there a basic tutorial on how to accomplish my stated task or at least use the basic music function? I've tried to find something on the Apple website but haven't been able to find anything yet.
    Thanks in advance.

    Chris -
Those 2 playlists were a total of 498 songs. I have just been using the default rate when I load a CD and click on import into iTunes. Is there a better way? My second 2 playlists have about 330 songs plus about another 20 I'm going to load today and then stop and see about syncing them on my iPhone as well. I've gotten about half of my CDs imported. This is obviously a do-as-you-get-time task that will take quite a while. Not so much importing the CD, but listening to at least a couple bars of each song to see which I want to put on a playlist.

  • TS1702 Trouble in App Store on iPad 2 and 3GS iPhone using IOS 6.0

There's no search icon on the bottom bar.  No apps listed under Feature & Charts.  Anyone else with this problem?  I can see Updates on iPad and iPhone, and the a list of Apps populates when I go into Purchased.  But nothing populates under Feature and under Charts.  I've looked in Settings but don't see anything there to indicated a problem.  If you know how I can fix this issue, please advise.  Thanks.

    Quit the app store completely.
Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Try the App Store again.
    Or try this ....
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time>Set Automatically>Off. Set the date one year ahead. Try to update the apps again. If you get an error message, go back to the settings. Correct the date and time (set automatically) then go back and try to update the apps again.
    Or try this ...
Settings>Privacy>Location Services>System Services (swipe to the bottom of the page to find this)>Location Based iAds>Off.

  • Having trouble adding purchased and imported music to my playlists

I'm having trouble adding purchased and imported music to my play lists. For example when I purchase or import new music to my playlists I have to re sync my ipod or the new songs don't appear on my playlists. Perhaps this is because I once unplugged my ipod w/out first disconnecting it. Previously when I purchased and imported music songs would appear on my play lists when I dragged them from purchased to playlist.

  • Creative ZEN MX Sort/organize music

    #Creative ZEN MX Sort/organize music>Device: ZEN MX
    Firmware: .04.0
So i got a ZEN MX, i was pretty happy with it... but now i'm starting to get very pissed off..
The way its sort his music on **bleep** "mp3 tags" i find it complete bullsh*t!
Why? because not all mp3's have tags, or tags that does not "fit" ( to the mp3 filename ) so it organizes the mp3's like sh*t anyway..
Now i completly removed all mp3 tags from all the mp3 tracks on my ZEN MX, and the player shows me no mp3 tracks anymore... ( accept for weird named folder with 500 piled up, **bleep**y sorted mp3's in it or something )
WTF is wrong with sorting on filename like any other device!?
If anyone got an idea or a fix, to make the ZEN MX sort his mp3 files decently, please tell me! Im desperate

I've spent a bit of time today, with Mp3tag, to try to understand what is going on with the MX sorting.
I used Mp3tag with the list of mp3s on my pc, (which was a copy of that on the zen) to add the relevent info. Some of my mp3s were just converts from clips from films etc, and had no relevent tag info. With this program, it is easy to add it.
It doesn't take too long to experiment to realise its advantages. (tag sort).
My gripe originally was the grouping of files - or tracks.
Especially if you had made your own compilation 'album'.
However, I have found you can do this easily in Mp3tag by grouping the files together, by filling their album field with 'Compliation ' or 'Various Artists' for example.
If you add the track number into the 'track' list aswell, you automatically order the track playing sequence.
It is really another way of creating a playlist but giving it an album reference of your own.
You can also add an album cover picture freely to any mp3. There is a built-in online database search for this, but i found it easier to search on the web, then used the wikipedia result for a source of album pictures. They happen to be around the right size too...
I then deleted the files on the zen and copied the whole lot across again, with the tag data in.
I now have some exclusi've albums and with cover pictures, along with all the others which have album covers.
I can only suggest giving it a go....
I can see it is the way forward for flexibility.

  • ITunes music playlists no longer syncing with iPhone on iOS 7?

I have the latest version of iTunes, and iOS 7.1, but my playlists have not been synching with my device since iOS 7! I have tried completed disconnecting all music synching, then turning on a few playlists at a time, but nothing works. I have a few playlists on my iPhone (from my last successful sync), but those play counts are not propagating back to my home computer, and none of my home playlists will ever transfer on to my iPhone.
Help! Music synching has become useless to me until this problem is fixed!
    Thanks!

Version 11.1.5.5 of iTunes was just released today. If you update to that, does that help with the syncing troubles?

  • Keeping only some music, or deleting playlists from device?

    Hi all,
I have 16 GB of music on my iPhone after I turned on iTunes Match.  I want to delete most of it, but there are some songs that I want to keep on the device.  This has been much more difficult than I thought.  I've been having this issue ever since I subscribed to iTunes Match when it was finally stable enough to work on my music library (about 10 months after subscribing, around 6 months ago).
The reason I want to keep some songs is because a large part of my music is in lossless format, and I listen to it on high quality audio systems and can easily tell the difference between 256kbps AAC and CD quality.  The CD quality sounds much better, and I definietly want to keep about 5 GB of music in this format on the iPhone, as I listen to this music even at home with my iPhone plugged into my receiver or over AirPlay.  If I delete my entire music library on the iPhone and download the songs again, they will be downgraded in quality.  I've done a lot of research about this, so I'm sure this is the case, unfortunately.
So now I have to manually delete about 1000 songs (out of ~1400) from my iPhone music library.  What's worse is that I have almost as many artists and albums as I do songs, the nature of the music genres I have - rarely are there albums or more than 2 or 3 songs from just one artist without it being a remix by another.  This means I can't just go through different arists or albums and delete the ones I don't want.  It has to be songs.  Plus I am not good with the names, so I have to listen to the song before I know whether to delete it.  The songs I want to keep are easier to identify, but unfortunately I can't just choose them.
I could create a playlist of all the songs I want to keep, but there is no option to delete songs from all other playlists.  In fact, there is no option to delete all the songs within a playlist, or even delete a song from a playlist itself!  All my music is organized by playlists, so it's easier to find the songs to delete by navigating through playlists, rather than the flat list of 1400 songs.  The only way to delete a song from there is to open the playlist, play a song, then click the top right icon to show the album where it will usually show just the one song (as I have about as many "albums" as I do songs), and only then can I swipe and delete the song.
This is a huge hassle, and I have been doing this to free up space on my iPhone.  I have about 32MB free, and before I can download an app, get an update, or even check my mail, I have to go and find more songs to delete through this method.  After deleting about 10 songs, I have enough space to continue using the phone for about a week or two.  But I just don't have the time to go and do this for 1000 songs!!!
When I plug the phone into the computer, I can see all the songs in iTunes.  I wish I could just select the songs (for some reason I can't change the sort order, which is a pain), and delete them.  But iTunes won't let me!
    Popcorn Break      Font Change
I checked how long it's taking me with the current method.  I have 1400 songs (on the device) in 85 playlists, taking up 16 GB.  I want to keep about 350 songs, around 5 GB I'm guessing.  This is an estimate, because I only know which songs I want to keep when I hear them, or by which playlist they are in.  It's easier to find the songs that I want to keep, but instead I must to delete the songs I don't want to keep, as that's the only way Apple allows it.
It takes about 6 seconds to navigate to the song (on average, navigating through playlists), about 10-20 seconds to play it, and 3 seconds to delete it.  That's about 25 seconds per song.  With 1000 songs, that's 25,000 seconds = 7 hours of work!!  And that's continuously doing this, which isn't even possible as sometimes I get stutters or random freezes for a few seconds before the iPhone is operational again (background apps/notifications?).
Even if I could select multiple songs within a playlist, or use iTunes to delete, it might not be much faster.  Let's say it takes as long as 5 minutes to evaluate a playlist and select songs to delete from the playlist.  With 85 playlists, that would be 85 * 5 = 425 minutes = 7 hours!  Now if I could do it as fast as 1 minute per playlist, which might be possible with iTunes (e.g. it has Select All or allows you to delete an entire playlist on just the device, without affecting iTunes Match), it would only take 1.5 hours, which is reasonable.
But it's still somewhat ridiculous having to spend an entire workday just to salvage ~350 songs.  If I could "tick" and select these songs that I want to keep via iTunes, I think it would take me about 5-7 seconds in the worst case if I have to listen to the song.  I usually know the name of the song that I want to keep, so it would be faster, but even if it did take 6 seconds on average, that would be 6 * 350 = 2125 seconds = 35 minutes.  Now that's more reasonable!
If anyone has any suggestions to speed up or make this process easier, I'd really appreciate it.  Otherwise I'll struggle with waiting for a better solution while in the meantime spending 5-10 minutes deleting a few songs every week.  At this rate, I estimate I'll finish in 100 weeks.  This doesn't sound that bad actually, but it'll probably get more and more difficult finding the songs I don't want since there will be a higher ratio of songs I want to keep vs. not.  So it might be closer to 5 years (or I'll have to spend more than 5-10 minutes per session), at which point I'll hopefully have a 256 GB iPhone and don't have to worry about running out of space, especially with a measily 16 GB of music.  I'm tired of the running out of space warnings ever since I got my first iPhone (64 GB).
Thank you everyone!  For listening, and any advice you can give!

This is a good idea.  Somehow I forgot about it, as I haven't been using the computer I used to sync my iPhone with for like a year.  I stopped thinking about syncing when everything moved to iCloud.  However, I still do have access to that computer (sort of - it doesn't have a monitor right now), and more importantly the original music files that I want to transfer!  I remember this was my original idea when I first signed up for iTunes match and wrote it down somewhere, but forgot about this plan.  Probably because it took months to get the feature working in the first place.
I was scared to turn off iTunes Match once I got everything working, as I didn't want to go through all the hassle again.  So whenever I plug in my iPhone, it wouldn't let me manage my music.  It seems to be much more stable now, so I suppose I can just disable it on the iPhone.  I can keep it enabled on the computer, right?  Then I sync the playlists that I want, and it should delete anything not selected on the iPhone.  Hopefully once it's done and I turn iTunes Match back on, it'll go back to working smoothly.
Thanks, Michael.  I forgot about transfering the music from the original source.  I'm getting used to how powerful these iOS devices are nowadays that I forget you can't do everything with them, that more complex operations are better done on the desktop, but in a specific way.
I still think that iTunes should let you delete music straight off the iPhone when it's plugged in.  But that's another issue.

  • Is there any way to incorporate music videos into playlists on iPhone in iOS 6?

I was previously able to mark videos as music or more recently music videos in iTunes, then manually make playlists using those videos and have them included in playlists in my iPhone 3GS. Now I have an iPhone 4S with the latest ittunes and iOS 6 and I can't seem to do it? Why on earth has apple decided that music videos should not be able to be added to playlists. The switch to a completely bare bones video app with no sorting or playlists and no integration into the music is ridiculous. Apple are you listening.

Nope, not unless you are a software wizard and write your own code to do the transfer.

  • HT1751 im having trouble putting my music on my cell phone from itunes can you assist me in doing so please

im having trouble putting my music on my cell phone from i tunes can you assist me in doing so , please?

    Hello Bam-bam20,
I have a couple of recommendations for you here.
First if you havent already, I would use the iPhone Troubleshooting Assistant found here http://www.apple.com/support/iphone/assistant/phone/ to attempt to resolve the issue.
Steps one, three, and five to be exact. Here is step 1 to get you started on that:
    Restart iPhone
To restart iPhone, first turn iPhone off by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until a red slider appears. Slide your finger across the slider and iPhone will turn off after a few moments.
Next, turn iPhone on by pressing and holding the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Is iPhone not responding? To reset iPhone, press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for at least 10 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If your device does not turn on or displays a red battery icon, try recharging next.
If the issue persists then I recommend resetting the iPhone:
    Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
From: iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting
              http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1430
If that does not resolve the issue, I would next try recreating the iTunes library and then try again.

  • Music stops mid-playlist after 15 minutes?

Music stops mid-playlist after about 15 minutes and returns to menu. Only occurs in playlists created on iPhone (as opposed to on iTunes). Any suggestions?

Thank you, everyone who responded.  After, several trouble shooting scenarios, it seems that yes, it is my Avast Internet Security module that seems to be causing the problem.  Disabling it immediately allows files to be created and opened.  Any workaround (other than disabling or even trying another product), do you think are available?  I like using Avast but that issue is simply unacceptable.  Thanks again.

  • Can you sort you music by the tick box in itunes

    Hi Guys
My name is Ian from Tanzania I was wondering if you can sort your music by the checked item field in Itunes. I have searched the net and it seems that it not possible.

    Ian,
Correct, the presence or absence of a checkmark is not a sortable item.
However, if you want to separate checked from unchecked songs, it can be used as a criterion in a Smart Playlist.   In the Smart Playlist rules, use the box for "Match only checked items."
