We tried but we are obviously doing something or not understanding this process? I feel like I have to purchase a new computer in order to use the new IPod 4th Gen touch! Please help!!

  • My new 4th gen. iPod touch is not being recognized by my PC

When I plug in my new 4th gen iPod touch, the computer just says that it is a USB device that is not recognized, what can I do? My operating system is Windos Vista.

    Does the iPod work OK?
Have you tied resetting the iPod? Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
Next would be to place the iPod in recovery mode and then restore via iTunes.  If iTunes does not see the iPod then the iPod is not usable. For recovery mode:

    - Transfer your iTunes' purchases to the new computer by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iPhone, iPad, or iPod to a computer
    - Try making a backup of the iPod by right clicking on the iPod  under Devices in iTunes and selecting Backup.
    - Connect your new iPod and restore the iPod from that backup if you wish.

  • Can't crate new playlists in iTunes or add content to 4th gen touch

    I have a 2009 MBP 17" 2.93 IC2Duo, running OSX10.9.5 and iTunes 12.0.1.26.
itunes will let me create a playlist name from the pulldown menu, but not from the '+' down at the bottom of the screen. The setting Icon doesn't work down there either.  When I drag a file, single track or album over to add to the playlist, the box is highlighted, but the icon just floats over the top of it and tracks with the cursor until I hit ESC and then click (then it slides back to the catalog list).
this is the same result if I try to drag music onto a 4th gen touch.  its been reformatted, home shared, purged and whatever the **** else you can do to it to clean it , but still no dice.
can i get the option to reload iTunes?  when i ask for update i get the ole the ver. is current window.
anyone got any thoughts or advice?
    Thanks!

For some reason, I can't switch the order of my tracks in iTunes DJ. If I click on a track and try to drag it to a new position, it won't work.
Select all teh tracks in iTunesDJ and press Delete.
    It will immediately re-populate.

I bought a used i pod 4th gen. touch but it still has the Id from the other person how do I change this to my id?

  • 4th gen touch and iTunes Match no longer works

I have a 4th gen touch, and iTunes Match no longer works - I choose it in settings, and it just turns itself off a few seconds later - it worked before, and I had to restore the iPod, and it doesn't work any more.

    Hi randy_m,
If you are having issues with your iPod touch turning off iTunes Match unexpectedly, you may want to try some things to troubleshoot.
First, quit all running applications and test again -
Force an app to close in iOS
Next, I would try restarting and if needed resetting the iPod -
Restart or reset your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
If the issue is still present, you may want to restore the iPod as a new device -
How to erase your iOS device and then set it up as a new device or restore it from backups.
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • I have a problem with the WiFi on my new 4th gen 32g Itouch.

I have a problem with the WiFi on my new 4th gen 32g Itouch. It is showing the bars and the wifi connection is showing that it is on but I can't get onto any of my apps that use the internet. Any suggestions as to what might be the problem? Thanks!

    - Do other devices successfully connct to the same network?
    - Does the iPod successfully connect to other networks?
    Try :
    - Reset:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Powering off and then back on your router.

If because it will be slow who cares every thing slows with age.

. As Apple said in June, iOS 7 is not compatible with the 4G iPod.
All the iOS devices compatible (iPhone 4 and later, iPad 2 and later, and 5G iPod touch) with iOS 7 have at least 512 MB of memory (RAM). The 4G iPod only has 256 MB

  • Updating IPad and 4th Gen Touch

I am getting an IPad2 compatible with latest version ITunes and have at present a 4th Gen Touch which I would also continue to use. If I updated to latest Version ITunes would I still be able to use my Touch without losing any data on it and also use same account number and password. If so what would be the procedure.

Yes. Updating iTunes keep it current with newer OSes. But you can continue to use it with older ones just the same.
All you need to do is update iTunes directly. There's nothing you need to do on your iPod.

  • WiFi, Keynote on 4th Gen touch, and Projector

I have a project coming up. In one corner of the room will be my 17" MacBook Pro with Keynote, hard-wired to a projector, and showing a slideshow (loop - no need to manually do anything). I have a VZW WiFi device with good reception/coverage at the site. If I download/purchase Keynote for my 4th gen touch, will I be able to - via WiFi - "control" my MacBook Pro and change slideshows from across the room? And/or edit a show on my touch (just text slides) and get it onto the projector?
Sorry if I am either (a) missing very basic concepts, or (b) not being as clear as I should be.

The Apple server a likely overloaded with the IOS 8.3 update.
You can try using these instructions but select iOS 6.1.6 for the 4G iPod. If yo select any other file you will get errors:
How to Install iOS 8.1.3 Update on your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch
Use the Step 5 update using iTunes instructions but download the iOS 6.1.6 firmware for the 4G iPod. Note that if you try to restore to earlier than 6.1.6 you will only get errors

  • How do I transfer all the content from my old 3rd gen to my new 4th gen iTouch, including apps and notes. I replaced an old 2nd gen with the 3rd last year and lost all my contacts and notes.

What's the best way to transfer all the content, including notes and apps, from my old 3rd gen to my new 4th gen. When I replaced my last iTouch with the 3rd gen I lost all my contacts and notes.

Backup the 3g by syncing in iTunes. Then connect the new one and sync everything to it from your backup.

  • IP3GS 4th Gen Touch

I was wondering if I buy a new (4th generation) Touch with FaceTime and I send to a user of an IP3GS and we're both using iOS 4.1 will they be able to see my charming, (yeah right!) fabulous looking (yeah right again!) face and hear my melodious voice (ah hmmm), but just not be able to send their own pictures or will it not work at all?

Nope. There isn't a forward facing camera on the 3GS, so there's no FaceTime. See this page at the bottom: http://www.apple.com/iphone/software-update/
    Compatibility
iOS 4 works with iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, and iPhone 3G. Not all features are compatible with all devices. For example, multitasking is available only with iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS.

  • New 4th gen ipod won't connect to internet

My sister just bought a new 4th gen ipod touch today. Everything works fine with it except for the internet. Now I own a 2nd gen ipod touch and my internet connection works just fine. Why doesn't hers work? I've tried turning the wifi on and off, and turning the airplane mode on and off as well. Our wifi only works through our computer modem. Is the ipod just not picking up the modem's signal or is something wrong with her ipod?

    - Does the SSID of your router show up in the list of networks available on the 4G iPod?
    - Have you tried resetting th 4G iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - If SSID still  does not show up on the 4G but does show on and the 2G iPod then I would first restore the iPod from backup.  If still problems then restore the iPd to factory defaults.new iPOd
    - If still not SSID then you likely have a defective iPOd and should make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store or you could call AppleCare.

  • 4th Gen Touch won't load anything WiFi related, help would be appreciated.

    I have a 4th Gen Touch, 64gb.
Got it about three days ago, and have since been connecting to my phone's WiFi.
(I have a HTC Desire HD)
It had been working absolutely fine, no issues, was loading app store, itunes, and safari pages all fine.
Yesterday, it just wouldn't load, as if I had no connection.
Now, it shows that the ipod is connected to my wireless.. it just won't load.
    Please help.lol.

If you've already tried the hard reset (holding down the sleep/wake and home buttons until it restarted), power cycling, and resetting network settings, you may want to try restoring your iPod through iTunes back to its original factory settings.  You'll want to back everything up to your computer first.
Here is an article that can walk you through the steps: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4137
It is important that you do set the iPod up as a new device at the end of the process to prevent copying over any potential problem directly from your back up image.  Test it out.  If it still won't work talk to the folks at Apple to see if there is anything wrong with the iPod.

  • Itunes will not remove or install apps on my 4th gen touch.

Please help before I take a sledge hammer to this thing! I purchased an app on my iphone 4S and transfered it to I tunes. Now my 4th gen touch will not remove or sync any new apps. It lookd like the changes have been made in itunes but they are not on the touch. I have removed the restrictions and unchecked automatic sync as mentioned in other posts to no avail. I have done a reset on the touch and restored from a back up and still nothing.

Try removing GBA4ios and then set up the date and other things correctly. Frequently with incorrect time/date you can't connect to some sites.
