Trouble streaming movies or catch up players

Everytime I try to stream a movie through a site, a catch up service through bbciplayer or itvplayer..... the stream is interrupted, constantly pausing or stopping all together, after originally believeing the problem to my router I had this changed to no avail, the connection is fine although sometimes the site will state "insufficient bandwith" if i then re boot the site it may play for a bit or may fix the problem all together. I have to research alot of streamed programmes for uni, this can't be a site problem as it is several different sites and it can't be an internet issue as the provider has checked the connection. The wifi will constantly say " searching for networks" and will randomly change my selected network.....i have tried clearing cache files also. any help will be greatly appreciated

  • Having trouble streaming movies on apple tv

    When I purchase a movie from ITUNES to stream using my Apple TV it starts streaming and then it stops. In watching a 2 hour movie it could take 4 hours because of these interuptions.

    I assume the rental is made on the AppleTV.
    AppleTV calculates the average internet speed and plays when enough has downloaded to play through.
    If this fails then teh average speed has probably dropped - either other devices in teh home using the internet and sharing overall bandwidth or your ISPs speed dropping off.

    It just says not connected, and as soon as it bails to menu, it connects again and will play for another minute before doing the same thing all over again.

    It sounds like your Apple TV is having trouble streaming videos from iTunes on your computer. This symptom could have a variety of causes, and I'd suggest the following initial troubleshooting steps.

    I am looking for BluRay player that I can also stream movies from my Media Hub. I was hoping that we could start a list of combinations that prople know will work. I am actually looking at the Sony BDP S370 but open to anything.

    The Oppo BDP-83 http://www.oppodigital.com/blu-ray-bdp-83/ since its Januaray firmware upgrade.  DLNA is an un-advertized feature and some flavors of h.264 support was added in the latest Beta firmware release.  From my experience, it seems quite tolerant of  (MP4 home) movies in a MKV container;  I haven't tried streaming Blu-Rays.     In addition to outstanding DVD and Blu-Ray playback, it also plays audio CDs, SACDs and BD-audio from disks.

  • Streaming movies on Netflix freeze often.

    When watching streaming movies (Netflix) on my TV the video freezes and shuts down from time to time.  Is my Airport Extreme wireless the culprit?  If so, how can I increase the range?  I seem to get 35 mps from my internet provider.  My iPad also seems slow and I get apps closing suddenly.

    1. The modem router is a Ubee (Dvw3201B) suppled by Bright House Road Runner.  My understanding is that the cable company turned off the wireless feature and in fact, the panel light for wireless is not lit.  I am not sure how to turn it on.
    To track down this issue we need to completely remove the AE from the configuration.. because if any blame is to go to the ISP they need to know it is just their equipment that is the trouble.
    You may not be able to turn on wireless but ISP can do it remotely.. ring and ask.. or ask for the instructions to turn it on from your end.
    I want you to completely remove the AE and just use the ISP router.

    If it is the tall one it is the AC model..
    Easy to tell .. old one is flat.. new one is tall.
    Model number is on the base.. it is so small you need a magnifying glass to read it. And light from the right direction and carefully read the first line of text.. hidden in there it says model A1470 (that is my Time Capsule) .. yours will say A1521.
    The AE has issues on the wan port.. so I would not be surprised if you have issues..
    Please post some screenshots from your Airport utility.

    Let me strongly also suggest if you have the AE bridged which you should, then plug ethernet cable from the Ubee modem to a LAN port instead of WAN of your AE.. that can fix your problem in some cases. Give it a try even before you worry about getting the ISP to turn wireless back on.

  • Trouble streaming audio

    There's some background info to give on this issue first.
    Last week my internet connection had a brain ****. Opening a browser would just give me a strange page that appeared to be from Comcast (my ISP). The page told me to download a Comcast installer to get my account running, or something of the sort. Of course, I've had this account for months, so I did no such thing. And for some reason the Comcast logo was a pixelated, low-quality image. I didn't know if it was some kind of hacker thing or what. I had gotten a message from Comcast the day before or so, but it was an automated message that just said to call them, and I didn't feel like it since they didn't even say what the call was about. In addition to the browser thing, neither Limewire, iTunes, nor Thunderbird could connect.
    I wasn't home for a couple days, and when I came back it had magically fixed itself. Except I can't stream audio--when I try to open a stream in iTunes, it pops up the "Connecting" window, and just keeps trying to connect until I click stop. And when I stream movies with the Quicktime plugin, the video plays but not the audio. Both iTunes and Quicktime play back audio from the HD fine. And every other program I have that requires and internet connection connects fine.
    I have unplugged and replugged my cable modem, and looked around the System Preferences for anything amiss, but I can't figure out what the problem is.

    That's called a "walled garden". You get stuck there if Comcast thinks your cable modem isn't allowed to connect up to their system for some unknown reason. That happened to me earlier this fall with an old Surfboard 3100 modem.
    I had an old machine I felt like I didn't mind sacrificing if I had to, so I went ahead and downloaded their software. The funny thing is, it wouldn't finish provisioning the modem, I had to call them anyway. In the end, after other troubles with that modem, I just returned it to Comcast and got a newer one. It's been pretty good so far...
    But what you described, the ugly logo, etc., all sounds like the "walled garden". Don't know why or how it magically fixed itself, though.
    Your streaming problems almost sound like a Quicktime problem. Especially where you have video but no audio. You might try re-installing QuickTime and see if that helps.

    Hi guys. Have an iPhone 5S running ios7 and I'm streaming movies from my iTunes collection on it. The movies I'm watching though are chewing up disc space on the phone, even though they're not downloading to the phone. Any way I can stop this happening?

  • Macbook OS X streaming movie lag...

    When I'm using my macbook to watch streaming movie on FOX and the movie it lag a lot. But when I run virtual Windows and the movie play just like it should. Please help me trouble shoot this problem. I'm a Macnoob here =) Running Windows wasn't my choice =(

    P.s.  By "lagging" I mean that sometimes my entire screen freezes (and I may or may not be able to move the mouse, the mouse may or may not turn into the dreaded pinwheel), sometimes its just a program/app, sometimes finder/dock/corner-shortcuts will freeze and i'll be able to use a program/app (like firefox or textedit) while I wait for lag to pass.. but usually, a freezing in a program/app will be followed by the freezing of finder/dock/corner-shortcuts/bar-at-the-top, or vica versa, and everything will just freeze. (Ugh, my computer froze multiple times while trying to add this edit - with the longest lag/freeze lasting about 5 minutes, I believe - which is why I missed the 15 min time frame to edit my post.)

    Anyone else having trouble downloading movie trailers through the iTunes store? When trying to download them I get a "The requested resource was not found error". I'm getting it with the Star Wars 3D and also the Avengers trailer. Seem to be happening more often now and I find if it's happening to others.

    I've sent a few emails to the [email protected] address from the Trailer section of the Apple website but still have got no reply back.
    It seems to me there maybe a push to just stream the trailers instead of having a physical download in your iTunes library ...maybe? iTunes has been pushing the Avengers as a big event so doesn't make sense to not have the links working properly.

    go to the app store and search .mov   The pad plays a certain set of file types, but not all.  In the appstore there are several alternate players that will work.  Find one that does what you heed, and is priced right for you,and download it.
    ((WM Player HD lite is free, and look like the one you might want)
    I use xy player, and VLC, but I am not sure either one is still available.

    If this is an iPad 1, it won't mirror, but it will still output video from the 30 Pin dock connector.
    If your new TV has a conventional VGA in and stereo inputs you can try this connector.

    I used to stream video from both Netflix and YouTube and from my Mac using iTunes sharing through my iPad then with this connector plug into my iPad and TV.
    It won't be high resolution, but it will get you picture from iPad to TV.

    I assume you'reon wi-fi - presumably connection with the router is being lost for some reason - can you connect via ethernet to test if that's more stable?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Try the following steps, check whether things are working after each step where appropriate, before trying the next.
    Restart the Apple TV (Settings > General > Restart).
    Restart the Apple TV by removing ALL the cables for 30 seconds.
    Restart your router.
    Reset the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Reset all settings)
    Restore the Apple TV (Settings > General > Reset > Restore)
