Trouble switching from Mac to windows in boot camp

Ever since my imac updated early last week I am having trouble switching from the mac side back to windows. Switching fromt windows to mac is fine. I do most of my work on the mac side graphics design but for my job some of the software we use only runs on windows and  this is the side i have to use to clock in and out and do someother work on.
I am using the option button as I have for the past 3 months and it worked just fine but since this update i am having to try 4-5 times before I am successful. I can do it by shutting down the computer, pushing the option button then turning back on and that seems to work, well it did Friday at least, today its not working again, i am having to try 4-5 times yet again by shutting down the computer then turning back on and i really dont like doing that 4-5 times in a row just to switch back to windows to do one quick thing then switch back.
any suggestions?
Thanks for any help!

To see if it resolves the problem, from Mac OS try setting your chosen boot disk in Preferences -> Startup Disk. You can do the same to go back to Mac OS from Windows in the Startup Disk control panel.

  • Switching from Mac to Windows with no CD

Yes, I too fell in love at first sight with the nano, and will be giving my mini to my boyfriend (who got it for me in the first place). He uses PCs and Windows.
I did a search on reformatting the mini from Mac to Windows but all the answers seemed to involve installing the iPod for Windows software. I don't seem to have this anymore, and Apple helpfully doesn't provide it for download.
Sooo...how is my boyfriend to reformat my mini for PC? Will just plugging it into a machine loaded with iTunes for Windows do it?
Sorry if this is an often asked question; maybe what I should be asking is where or whether I can get the iPod for Windows software. Will whatever is provided with the nano work for the mini on a PC?

Download the latest version of iTunes and the iPod software updater onto the PC. Install iTunes, then the iPod software updater. Then run the iPod software updater, connect the mini when told, and choose to restore.

  • Outlook Email Client Switch from Mac to Windows

Switching from outlook windows to outlook for mac seems quite an easy task but the vide versa is not the same.
I have downloaded email files in outlook for mac that I need to import to outlook for windows.
The main issue is that I have deleted all the mails from  the server and have saved emails in outlook 2011. Now uploaing these emails is taking ages and I am running out of time.
How can I transfer all these files from outlook 2011 for mac to outlook 2013 for windows???
helpful answers will be really appreciated

    Hi,
Generally, we can export the mailbox data to an Outlook for Mac Date file(.olm file) in Outlook 2011 for Mac. As for Outlook for Windows, the default Outlook Data file is .PST file. If so, we need to find some third-party tools to convert OLM file to PST
    file for Windows Outlook using.
Personal suggestion, we can consider to create a new imap account acted as a transfer mailbox. To do it, please follow:
    1. Create a new IMAP account, such as a Hotmail.com account.
    2. Configure the Hotmail account in your Outlook 2011 for Mac and import the exported OLM file to this account.
    3. The imported data file will synced to IMAP account in mail server. We can login to the Web mail page to double check it.
    4. If the data has been synced complete in Hotmail mail server, we can configure this Hotmail account in your Outlook for Windows. Then all mailbox data can be download to the local Outlook in Windows machine.
    5. Now, we can drag the messages from this Hotmail account to your main account. Or we can export Hotmail mailbox to PST file for other Windows Outlook using.
Additionally, here is a similar thread about your issue:

  • Trouble printing from mac to windows printer

I purchased my first mac last weekend and successfully set it up on my home network which is shared with my windows xp desktop. My HP deskjet printer is shared on the network through my desktop windows pc (not on a separate printer router). My mac recognizes the printer on the network but it prints meaningless garb when I ask it to print a document. Any suggestions to rectify my printing problem???
    iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.3)

I followed the instructions at http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3012.html and am having the same issue. Whether setting up manually or using Bonjour, it seems that you have to select an Apple Driver. The problem is that the Windows 7 does not provide Apple drivers. Luckily, I have an old XP installation CD so I can access the printer drivers I need, but because I already installed the printer drivers from my printers CD Windows will automatically install with that driver, not giving me the "have disk" option.
So I tried to install with Bonjour again, which allowed me to pull up the drivers from teh XP installation disk, but then gave me an error that I didn't have permissions to install the selected printer.
So I deleted the Canon driver for my printer from Windows 7 and went through the process described at http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3012.html again. This time I was able to select the Apple Color Laserwriter printer from the XP installation CD, but I got an error message saying that Windows was unable to find an appropriate driver.
At this point, after a couple hours trying to do a simple file share, which should only take 30 seconds, I'm giving up being able to print to a printer connected to a mac from my Windows 7 laptop. Now I have to open files on the mac from the network file share to print.
Mixed having both Macs and Windows machines on the same network is a recipe for a headache.

  • Switched from Mac to Windows, PC cannot see files.

I have a copy of CS2. I bought it for my Mac OSX 10.3.9. My mac died. On a very small budget now, so I bought an inexpensive PC. The install disk shows no files on the PC. Called Adobe support and was told I have to purchase a new full version again? Anyone have an alternative to purchasing the full version...AGAIN? CS2 worked perfectlly well for my needs.

    Semaphoric wrote:

    Oh, wait . . .
Oddly, that may be the trick here.
CS2 was written for PPC Macs. CS2 can be flaky on newer Intel Macs and won't even run in the latest OS X 10.7 Lion. So if someone is in the market for a Mac that would run CS2, they'd have to buy used.  One can buy a G5 Mac on eBay for ~$200-$500. That's cheap.
If we're not interested in old Macs, an upgrade/crossgrade to CS5 is in order now before Adobe releases CS6 and you are out of the upgrade window for both Mac and Windows.

  • Switching from Mac to Windows for CS5

I need the wisdom of the crowd...
I own the CS4 Production Premiere bundle for Mac. With CS5 coming out, I'm thinking of switching (back) to a Win7 PC - specifically for video editing. My footage is predominantly from the Canon 5D2 and I mostly edit on a Macbook Pro.  I have not seen any literature that the CS5 version of premiere or the Mercury playback engine will stop my footage from stutterinhg in Premiere Pro. I can live with longer render times, but don't want to transcode media in order to edit/playback in realtime. Even previewing a clip in PPro on the Mac will cause stuttter.
Rather than deck out a Mac Pro with Cuda card I'm thinking of going back to Windows and building an editing station with an i7 core and cuda card.  It also means going through the cross-platform licensing process again (I originally came from the PC world)
I'm really stuck with what to do here and would love the wisdom of the group
    Thanks in advance

Going back to the PC is a great idea.  I built a great system that would cost double what I put together on the MAC.  No brainer really.  I bet the difference in cost when cross-platform licensing changes you will still be ahead.

  • How do I switch from Mac to Windows quickly, without just restarting the computer?

I know i can go to bootcamp on the Windows side and click "restart in Mac OS" but is there a similar way to switch quickly from the Mac side over to the Windows side?

Apple has BootPicker http://www.apple.com/education/resources/bootpicker/ for this.

  • Using iPod as hard drive, switching from mac to windows

First off, I'm not sure if this belongs in the right section...
Anyway, my dad had to take my imac to his office and bought a windows for regular use at home because we weren't fully happy with an apple computer. Before deleting the files on the imac, i saved them to my 30gb ipod video. Now, when I try to access these files, it tells me that my ipod is formatted for mac and must be formatted for windows. Will this delete the files on my ipod? If so, how can I get my files/music off without anything being deleted?

Restoring an iPod will erase everything on it; prior to restoring the iPod, you can install MacDrive onto the PC and copy the files from the iPod onto the PC.

  • I signed up for Adobe Acrobat Standard only to find the software option switched from Mac to Windows during the sign up process - Refund Please

This was started from my Trial Acrobat installation on my Mac, following a pop up to register on my Mac and then a browser session on my Mac!
I have cancelled the monthly plan for the Windows version and successfully completed the process for the Mac version, but now I need my refund for the 1 month of the Windows version that I didn't want and didn't ask for and can't use.  I rang the number but was on hold for 32 minutes before giving up.
I clicked on the link under the cancellation in my Adobe account but that ends up in a 1000 option black hole support site.
How do I proceed, without wasting another hour of my life? Thanks.

I have done this.  I just need the refund that was mentioned on the bottom of the page that I have already cancelled on.  None of the other links on that page are relevant and none mention the word "Refund"
Re; The second link, is this a UK 0800 number or a US Number?  I am in the UK.  Will I be on hold for 32 minutes again if I ring this number?

  • IPod switch from Mac to Windows to Mac

A while ago my Mac died and I had all of my music backed up to an external HD. My HD was formatted for Mac us so I downloaded a trial version of a software to move the music from my HD to my PC and then to my iPod. Now my Mac is back up and my PC is down. I forgot to mention that while using my PC I didn't realize that hitting delete was deleting items from my HD and not my iPod so all of my music is on my iPod and nowhere else. Is there a way to get my music off of my Windows formatted iPod to my Mac w/o having a PC available? My iPod is viewable on my Mac but songs won't move from th iPod to my PC. I had also downloaded shareware onto it a whil ago but even that isn't working. I would really like to keep my music. If anyone has any suggestions that would be great.
    Thanks
PS I have over 10,000 songs if that makes a difference

If you only want to copy your purchases to the computer that can be done using iTunes, you'll find details in this article: Copying iTunes Store purchases from your iPod or iPhone to a computer
For everything else (including purchases) there are a number of third party utilities that you can use to retrieve the music files and playlists from your iPod. I use Senuti but have a look at the web pages and documentation for the others too. You can read reviews and comparisons of some of them here (you'll find that they have varying degrees of functionality and some will transfer movies, videos, photos and games as well):
Wired News - Rescue Your Stranded Tunes
    Comparison of iPod managers
A selection of iPod to iTunes utilities:
Senuti Mac Only (iPod Touch & iPhone compatible)
    PodView Mac Only
    PodWorks Mac Only
iPodDisk PPC Mac Only (experimental version available for Intel Macs)
TuneAid Mac only (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
    YamiPod Mac & Windows

iRepo Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
iPod Access Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
TouchCopy Mac & Windows (iPhone and iPod Touch compatible)
There's also a manual method of copying songs from your iPod to a Mac or PC. The procedure is a bit involved and won't recover playlists but if you're interested it's available on page 2 at this link: Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide

  • Switched from Mac to Windows -- Now my Serial # doesn't work

I recently bought a new computer that is a Windows unit -- my old laptop was a mac. I went to install my Creative Suite Software, and found that my serial code only works on Macs -- is there a remedy for this??

    Hi Ryan,
Serial numbers are language & platform specific. So, you cannot use Windows serial key on Mac or vice-versa. However, you could get a platform swap done. Not sure, if this is applicable for your old version CS5.5 but it is worth a try. Order product | Platform, language swap

  • Switching from Mac to Windows

I started using my ipod on my sister's mac. I did not realize it would be a problem to later use my pc to transfer songs to my ipod. When I try to do so, I get a message threatening to restore... and I was told if I plug my ipod into a mac it will delete all my songs and I'd have to start all over. Is there a way around this?

PC can read iPod previously formatted on a Mac. But you can install a 3rd party software on your PC, then you can copy all the music from your iPod to your PC

  • Switching from Mac to Windows. Do I need to buy a new Ps?

    Hello there,
Since I'm planning on buying the Wacom Companion for being able to work on-the-go, I was wondering if I also needed to buy a new version of Photoshop.
I bought Photoshop CS 5 for Mac a few years back and don't really need a newer version. But at my Downloads page I can only find the option to download Photoshop for Mac and not Windows. Shouldn't I be able to download a Windows version as well or do I really have to spend another couple of hundred bucks on a new CS 6? That would blow immensely.
    Kind regards,
    Hans

$200 to upgrade and costs nothing to change to a Mac license.

I think Mylenium said that you can install and use the Mac version for 30 day trial while waiting for the swap to go through.

  • Switching from Mac to Windows... restore??

When my Windows broke, I started using my mom's Mac for my iPod. Now, I have a new Windows, and when I connect my iPod to it, it asks if I want to restore it. Should I??

Yes restoring will erase the iPod and put it back to the factory default settings.
Assuming everything is already in iTunes, to get it back on the iPod just resync the iPod with iTunes and everything should be put back on the iPod.
Do you have stuff on the iPod that is NOT in iTunes or somewhere else you can get to it?
