Trouble Syncing Aperture Library to 5G iPod

I have never been able to get iTunes to recognize my Aperture library when syncing with my 5.5G iPod. The names of my albums show up in the list but it says there are no pictures in the albums and will not sync. The issue has been there with previous versions of of iTunes as well as the current version. I am running the current version of Aperture as well.
Has anyone else had troubles syncing their Aperture library?

do you have previews generated for the photos you are trying to sync? I had a similar problem with one album recently after experimenting with turning previews off. Album appeared, but no photos listed after it in brackets.
I generated previews for that album and hey presto it worked fine
Cheers

  • Rating aperture library on my ipod touch

On my ipod I can rate my music with stars and these are synced with my itunes library. While travelling it would be great to do something similar with my photos in my aperture library.
I can share photos from my aperture library via itunes on my ipod touch but I cannot find a way to rate them.
The question: Is there a possibility to rate the photos on my Touch ? Otherwise a suggestion for a future release.

  • Can't sync Aperture library with multiple user accounts

I have created the aperture library on my main computer account and have synced photos to my iPhone with no problem. I created an account for my wife on the computer and she has admin rights. When I try to sync photos from Aperture onto her iPad I get the error message: You do not have enough rights for this operation. I checked the permissions on the Aperture library and she has Read+Write rights. Is there a solution so that we both can use Aperture for the management of our photo library but still have separate accounts?

yes, as best as I could tell.
This is a library I use for my desktop wallpaper (rotating 5 seconds apiece, random pics) so the images are kept in a folder separate from the library, which is one of the few that I permit to copy images and manage their location.
So I deleted those four images from the library, deleted their album, and reimported them from the main folder, and recreated their album, and all was well.
I presume one of them got corrupted, but the odd thing was that iTunes complained the phone couldn't be synced, and in no way indicated a fault with a file being synced.

  • Issue syncing Aperture library to iPhone/iPad using iTunes

I have about 23,000 images in my Aperture library (currently running v.3.6), with the images sorted into projects, with the title of each project beginning with a date in this convention: yyyy-mm-dd.   I have about 800 projects in my Aperture library, and with that kind of naming convention, it is very easy to sort the projects in chronological order.
When I sync my Aperture library via iTunes 12 to both my iPhone 6 and my iPad Air, both of which are on iOS 8.1.3, the 800 projects are not listed in that chronological order.   Rather, the order that they appear to the viewer is completely random.  As I look at Photos on my iPhone right now, for instance, the following projects are next to each other:   2008-05-04, 2006-10-01, 2014-03-22, 2011-05-20 and 2009-01-05. This makes it impossible to find the the project that I am looking for (imagine wanting to show someone one project out of 800, and not having any idea where it is).
This has happened on an off throughout the history of iOS - i.e., with some releases, all of my projects will sort in this order, and then with a new release, boom the sort order has been broken.  It's been broken since the release of iOS 8.  Any thoughts?

Try posting this question in iPhone forum.
Also, have you reset your iPhone? (hold the power and home button together for several seconds until the unit shuts down, then followed by apple logo)
After that, if it still gives you the same issue, try restoring your iPhone via iTunes. That usually takes care of all ills.
    Cheers

  • Syncing Aperture library between two computers using MobileMe and DropBox

I'd like to have my Aperture library automatically sync'd between my MacBookPro and iMac.
I have MobileMe and I'd ideally like to use it to sync, however I believe Aperture sees the library as a large single file, and so is not really practical to do this.
I believe DropBox does handle this better, but I only have the 2GB free version, and don't want to upgrade while I'm paying for MobileMe (which I use mainly for iPhone syncing).
So, I was wondering would keeping the RAW and JPEG images in my iDisk (outside the library) and using a library in my DropBox folder using referenced master files to the images seem like a workable solution?
I appreciate I need to only use one system at a time and make sure it's all sync'd before using the other computer or risk corruption.

Just curious - why do you think it would be slow?
With iDisk sync turned on the master images would be on the local hard drive, as would the library in the DropBox folder. Might have to use a symbolic link or mount to make the local hard disk iDisk folder appear in the exact same location on both machines, though maybe not even that?

  • READ THIS IF YOU'RE HAVING TROUBLE SYNCING SONGS/VIDEOS TO YOUR iPod

Sometimes the album artwork, even if it was supplied from the iTunes store, corrupts the file. Just right click the song or video in your library, click "Get Info," and then click the "Artwork" tab. Click on the artwork and delete it, then try sync it to your iPod. It never fails for me.

Good lord, Man! That's the long way around the block.
Highlight all the songs in the album. Right-click and select GET INFO.
Click on the album art in your web browser and drag it to the little box for Album Art in the Get Info dialog.
On rare occations I find Drag and Drop doesn't want to work - right click on the image in your web browser and select COPY - the PASTE in to the box in the GET INFO dialog.

  • TS1382 Ive synced my library onto my ipod but it wont work in my car

    Hi,
When I 1st had my new stereo with usb fitted in my car, it would only play one of the songs I had on my ipod. it kept playing it over and over despite the ipod not being set to repeat.  I deleted the song and now when I connect my ipod to my usb on my car stereo, it states it wont play.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks Andrea

Yes.  In your main iTunes Music library listing, use the "plain" column list format (the one that does not show any album art).  In the column headings, see if you have one labeled "Kind."  If you do not, right-click anywhere on the columne headings and select Kind from the popup list (so that it has a check next to it).  It should now appear as one of your columns on the list.  You can drag the column heading to change column location.
Click on Kind in the heading, and it should sort the list by that column.  The songs that are MP3 should say "MPEG audio file" for Kind and be grouped together.  The ones that are AAC will say:
AAC audio file <- songs ripped from CD
Purchased AAC audio file <- songs purchased recently from the iTunes Store
Protected AAC audio file <- songs purchased a while back from the iTunes Store
(look for any other Kind with "AAC")
The key thing is that they will be grouped on the list by Kind, so you can easily select only the songs that need to be converted.  After a songs is converted, you will have a second listing of the same song in your iTunes library, so you definitely do NOT want to do this for your entire library.
If your iTunes music library is large, you may want to create a new playlist in iTunes and only put the songs you want on the iPod on that playlist.  Then, do the conversion selection in the playlist, instead of in your main iTunes library.  After conversion is done, you can remove all the AAC versions from the playlist (they will still remain in your main library), so that everything is on the playlist is MP3.  Then, sync only that playlist to your iPod.

  • I bought a new computer and can't sync my library to my iPod.

My computer crashed so I bought a new machine.  I was able to load my library and also pull the files from my old hard drive.  Now when I plug my iPod into the new computer, it recognizes it and says it's syncing, but when it's finished, the new files aren't on my iPod.  I'm a podcast junkie so I like to be able to update it daily.  I'm on an iPod Touch and a PC.  Any thoughts?
Also, when I imported my files from my old hard drive, I saved them to a folder on my desktop.  Is there anything else I would need to do with that?

    - Is the computer authorized for the iTunes account(s) used on the iPod?
    - Are you syncing or manually managing music?
    - In iTunes if you go to Preferences and then go to the Devices tab, what date is show for the iPod backup? Is if before you switched computers?
    - Your iPod sees the new computer as a new library/computer and you can only sync to one library.  You need to restore you iPod from a backup.  If that bacup is hosw in Preferences, restore from that backup.
    - If the backup is after you switched computers, you have two options:
--- Try to make a backup by right clicking on the iPd under Devices in iTunes and selecting backup.
--- If you can't make a backu, can you get one from the backup of your old computer.  It is located here and yu may have to have show hidden files turned on.

  • Sync Aperture Library between two Macs

I apologize if this is an obvious question; I've searched this community and can't find an answer.
My wife and I currently have iMacs, and we both have iPhoto, and the problem is that we both tend to import pictures we take into our respective iPhoto libraries, but there's no way to easily sync them so we both have all pictures.
I'm intrigued by Aperture's purported "sync" capabilities. Hopefully, an Aperture expert here can tell me if AP3 has the ability to do what I described above - keep two individual copies of Aperture across two Macs on the same network in sync automatically?

Unfortunately it will be difficult to do this even with Aperture. I'm thinking the the 'sync' capabilities you heard of are Apertures merge library command.
Merging libraries is meant to facilitate what happens when a single user takes all or a part of their library out into the field and then wishes to merge the changes made when they return. So for instance I take a part of my library make changes to it, add new things to it and then merge it back into the original library. When I do the merge I have to tell Aperture which library to use to resolve conflicts. That is one of the libraries has to be made the master.
In a situation like you are describing where two independent users make changes to their respective libraries and then try to merge them which library is designated the master? If you make changes to image A in your library and leave image B alone but your wife does the opposite what should the merged library look like? As Aperture is now one or the other would have to rule.
If its just a question of images you each add independent of the other to your respective libraries you could work something out along the lines of exporting the new project from one library and importing into the other but trying to sync changes between two independent users would be difficult.

  • Trouble syncing music library.

I recently noticed that some albums, songs and playlists are not syncing correctly from my Macbook Pro to my iPhone 4S. When I go into my music on the phone, I see some albums, songs and playlists listed, but when I go to play a song, it appears on the list in light grey text and will not open or play. I went to check on my laptop and the songs are still there and play just fine. Previously, these songs were able to be played on the phone and this problem seems to have occurred/coincided with my software update of iTunes. Anyone have any idea what's going on or how I might fix it? This problem seems random and is affecting only a small portion of my music library. It occurs with both songs/albums I purchased directly from iTunes and also with songs loaded from CD's. Last note: I synched manually by connecting to computer and did not sync via iCloud.

Update: After hours of looking for an answer and trying all things Apple, I noticed that at the bottom of the screen on the phone along with playlists, artists, songs, albums, there's also a button that says "More."  I clicked and went to "Shared" and noticed that there's two options: My iPhone and (my) Library. I switched from My Phone to Library and voila! Problem solved. I hope my hours of frustration can help someone else.

  • Spreading your Aperture Library across multiple volumes/drives/disks

I recall reading posts elsewhere by others (on an Adobe Lightroom forum) on how one's Aperture Library had to sit on one volume, meaning that it could not span multiple disks. At the time I figured I would be fine for a while since I had about 150 GB of free space on my main disk, yet kept the topic at the back of my mind.
Today, as I do regularly, I was backing up my (Aperture) library to my iPod, (not through the "vault" mechanism but simply using Finder,) when I noticed it was copying (many) individual files, rather than one large file! Being familiar with Unix, including how certain items in Mac OSX are treated, such as "Applications" that appear to be one object in the GUI, yet are merely a folder structure behind the scene, it occurred to me that the Aperture Library, rather than being some sort of single-file database format, just might be a folder instead.
I checked, and it is. Mind you, that doesn't prevent Aperture from keeping proprietary files within those folders, however, it would seem to me that one could easily use symbolic links to throw some of the files, perhaps at the project level, onto other disks, and thus span your library across multiple volumes even if Aperture does not yet offer or manage this ability.

  • Trouble syncing files

    Good evening
I have some troubles syncing my files with my ipod touch 4th generation. It often syncs files twice (like videos) or it forgets files and i have to start the sync again. It's a bit annoying that it doesn't work perfectly. Is there any way to solve this problem?
What i also recognized is that when i watched a podcast or movie and deleted it on the ipod, itunes synced it again the next time. Can i only delte files in itunes? Seems not so comfortable to me...
    Greetings and thanks
    Mogwai72

Sad to say, but I think you have some corrupted music files.
Those are the worst to filter through....
My iPod was doing something similar. Wouldn't update. I finally found the bad file. It wouldn't play in WMP or winamp either, so it wasn't just iTunes being funky.
Luckily mine were like, 5 bad files in a row. Otherwise it takes forever to isolate which ones are causing it.
You could send feedback, I guess...if iTunes finds a bad file, then skip it, instead of shutting down the entire sync process. Maybe if enough of us send this suggestion, it will be implemented.
