Trouble syncing contact folders

I've successfully synced all the contacts from my address book on my harddrive to my web .mac account (I have 2, btw, one personal and one for business-I've synced to my business account). However, I have about 100 addresses that I need to send a mass mailing to, and have them nicely in a folder on my harddrive. The folders from my harddrive don't show up on the web .mac account, just the individual addresses.
How do I get the folders to sync?
Saw a previous post where the guy just logged off, then back on and it seemed to fix it. I tried this, but nothing changed.
Thanks for your help!

.Mac Sync is designed to synchronize a limited number of data types, and with contact data, this means only the contact records contained in the Address Book application. No backup copies, vCard files or any other contact are synchronized by .Mac Sync.
What you need to synchronize folders and folder contents across network segments is an application like ChronoSync, from Econ Technologies:

  • STILL Having Trouble Syncing Contacts and Calendar

My iphone sync is freezing up on either the contacts sync or calendar sync. I have read about all of the other people having problems and have already tried reseting sync history as well as syncing without ical and contacts checked. Resetting sync history made no difference and of course it syncs with ical and contacts unchecked but that does not really solve the problem as I need to have those items sync also. Are there any other things I can try, this is a huge disappointment!!

... got exactly the same problems.
The iPhone starts to write the backup while syncing contacts and calenders but then it crashes and nothing has changed in the entries.
The only way to get the contact and calender entries is to overwrite the iPhone entries, so I only can sync content from my Mac to the iPhone, not the other way around.
    Apple, please solve this problem!

  • Trouble syncing Mail folders/subfolders

Hi to anyone who reads this.
Not sure where to turn for help right now. Apple Tech Support says this is a .Mac problem; .Mac says it's an Apple Tech Support issue. I'm in the inferno.
Like a lot of people, I download a lot of e-mails from the server and put them into folders and subfolders (and sometimes sub-subfolders). Some folders are important; others are not. It is critical that I have access to these important folders over the holidays when I'm not at my iMac. I have a .Mac account, so I should be able to do that. But when I try to sync, the folders don't show up (or...worse...only a few of them show up). For those of you who want to read on, please do.
I initially tried this sync with my folders about two months ago. It didn't work -- it wasn't critical to me then, so I didn't pursue it. What happened then was that I dragged the main folder(s) with several subfolders (and lots of e-mails) from where they sat in my mail program to below the globe icon for my .Mac account. The colorful ball whirled for quite a while. Then I went to the .Mac site, opened my mail and found only a few of the folders and subfolders had transferred. I was frustrated, but I stopped worrying about it.
Fast forward to today. I have a very strong need to have access to those e-mails while I'm away. I have tried to sync many times in the last day. Most recently, I have manually sync'd everything, so I know the sync works for my iCal and address book (although strangely, the automatic one looked like it worked, but it didn't). Nevertheless, the calendar and address books are completely up-to-date. I double-checked that the memory wasn't a problem. It's not. I even increased the storage allotment for mail to 700.
Trying everything I could think of, I went to the .Mac site, opened my folders, deleted the old (incompletely transferred and NEVER effectively synchronized despite autosyncing) folders from a few months ago and started over. (By the way, not that it matters, but the main folders under the globe icon are white, not blue, and the subs are blue...not sure what that means.) I have tried in many ways to get the folders I created in my Mail program to transfer to .Mac by placing them under the globe icon and then pressing the sync button. Nothing seems to work.
Help. Do you know what is wrong? Do you know what department at Mac should be helping me? What else do you need to know to help answer this one? I really need those e-mails -- far, far too many to resend to myself to put on the server over the holidays. Hundreds!! All very important for a conference I am planning.
Thanks so much!!! By the way, I'm a 10.4.3 user. I wish I could tell you whether this happened before or after the upgrade this fall, but honestly, I just don't remember.

I have an iMac with many mail folders containing many emails. I just purchased a MacBook. Is there a way to transfer the mail folders and all the existing emails onto the MacBook
the easiest is to use Migration Adssistant (it's in Applications/Utilities). It lets you transfer all your user settings, not just Mail. If you are interested in Mail ONLY, copy the entire folder /users/username/library/mail and the file /users/username/library/preferences/com.apple.mail.plist. when you start Mail after that it will look just as it did on the old computer.
and once that is accomplished is there a way I can keep both mail accounts in sync?
if you use an IMAP email account, this is automatic. if you use POP, it's impossible.
I would like to be able to file or delete an email on one computer and have the same action take place on the other computer.

  • Trouble syncing Contact addresses to iphone 5

I just upgraded from an iphone 3g to an iphone 5. I also upgraded my ios to 7.  I have always synced my outlook contacts and calendar with my phone. However, after this upgrade, I noticed SOME of my outlook addresses are missing from my phone contacts. They are still on my laptop, but not the phone, and it is only some of the addresses. I can't find any rhyme or reason as to which transferred and which didn't. I tried syncing again, but didn't correct the problem. Any thoughts or fixes????  At the same time my husband bought an iphone 5 (his first iphone) and we have syncd his phone to the same laptop and the same problem happened on his phone.

You need to creat more spaceby deleting more content or you can update via itunes on your computer.

  • Trouble syncing contacts on icloud

I've installed IOS 5.0 on my iPHone 4 and have installed 10.7.2 on my MBP.
    1.  I cannot seem to "force" the initial sync between my MBP address book and icloud.  I.E. my icloud contacts are empty.
    2.  If I add an entry on my Mac or on icloud, they're replicated on the Mac or icloud respectively just fine.
    3.  but nothing seems to be happening with my contacts on my iPhone.  They're not synced down from new entries on my mac, and when I add a new entry on my iPhone, it's not in icloud or my mac.

Thanks for the replies guys. Screenshots attached in response to both of your comments.
woodmeister50 - I have signed into iCloud / enabled it in Address Book already. Screenshot attached = "Example - Address Book"
pvonk - I have tried doing this (hopefully the attached shot of the window  is the part of the app to which you refered me) and it doesn't work on that particular screen. Is this what you meant? Screenshot = "Contact Groups Example"
P.s. got iCal working! But contacts/"Address Book" is still a problem.

  • Trouble syncing contacts

In moving data to a new computer, my outlook contacts were lost, unbenownst to me. My phone syncs wirelessly through Exchange, and  I lost contacts on the phone, but was able to restore them to the phone through a back up (and putting the phone in plane mode).  I tried to use the phone contacts to restore my Outlook contacts by syncing through iTunes (merge data), but only the contacts that were created on iTunes have been restored (about 5 out of a couple hundred).  Any ideas how to fix this situation?  Thanks in advance.
I'm using Windows 7, Outlook 2010.  Phone is ios 4.3.5

I don't know if this will help you or not. But take look. You may be doing this already.

Obviously when you sync your different devices, iTunes recognizes each as a separate device. Each device must have it's own set of contacts. I'm not sure why you can't select the groups that you want to select for each device.
The way that I sync my three iDevices is that I do not allow iTunes to sync automatically when the devices are connected. I made this choice in iTunes - under the preferences - select devices - and you can check the box at the bottom of the window to prevent automatic syncing. Nor do I allow iTunes to open automatically when I connect the devices. I have also chosen to Sync selected Songs and Videos. By doing this I have complete control over what I want to put on each device.
However, I will admit, I sync only mail contacts to my two devices and not my wife's. She has no use for email on her device.

  • Unable to sync contacts and calendar to outlook 2010 or iphone 5

I work in IT and several of our clients are have trouble syncing contacts and calendar to outlook 2010 or iphones.
I have uninstall itunes completely from the computer, deleted the backup and clear the sync history nothing seems to be working.
Is there are problem with the latest itunes and if so when will the fix be release???

This is exactly what I am dealing with. Blackberry Link will work great for awhile and then something happens and I can not sync my contacts. I have spent many hours and days trying to fix this to no avail. BB support has been great but I still go through a long process each time. This week I finally gave up and started using the Microsoft Hotmail Outlook Connector since my company does not offer Active Sync or Exchange. It works flawlessly. I would dedfinitely check it out. If you swith to a Widows Phone or Android this is one of the options they recommend you use.
In a nutshell Link is awful and BB should be ashamed of the product they put on the market. I will only use it for syncing pictures and documents. Good luck!

  • HT4236 Trouble syncing photos as "selected folders"

Can anyone please help? I'm having trouble uploading photos from my computer to my I-phone device.
The problem I'm having is I'm trying to sync photos to my i phone device and "select specific folders" and although this is never been a problem in the past prior to downloading I-tunes 11, it's not allowing me to sync selected photos (only allowing me to select all folders) as the appropraite selection to "sync selected folders" is blocked out and will not allow me to manually switch to it.
I've tried changing settings etc and seeing if there's anything that can allow me to do this, but have had no luck.
    Can Anyone help please?????

That's not really an answer, that's just a work around. Does anyone have an answer for this?
Put all the folders (or a shortcut to those folders) with photos into one folder and select that top level folder.
Then you can tick Selected folders and pick the subfolders.
The photos do not all need to be in one single folder.
Each folder will be a separate album in the Photos app.

  • HT1386 having trouble syncing/downloading contacts & calendar & tasks from outlook 2010 to iphone4s help please.

having trouble syncing/downloading contacts & calendar & tasks from outlook 2010 to iphone4s help please.

I had the identical problem.  I still don't know how to sync the tasks, but here's how I did the contacts and calendar:
    1.  Connect the 4s to the computer.
    2.  Open iTunes.
    3.  Click the iPhone box in the upper right corner.
    4.  Click on the info tab.
    5.  Hit the checkbox Sync Contacts with... and choose Outlook from the dropdown box.
    6.  Ditto for Calendars.
    7.  Hit Apply.
My problem was that originally, I wasn't getting the checkboxes.  I turned off the iCloud settings on the 4s.  That did the trick.

  • HT1386 Trouble syncing my contacts from my Iphone to my New MacBook

I have already done the steps in itunes with selecting the sync contacts but nothing seems to be going across to my contacts on my address book. I'm using Mountain Lion. Any help would be greatly apriciated

The sync process for iTunes content is a one way transfer process only. The only data that is truly synchronized by definition via the iTunes sync process with a supported application on your computer is for contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks, notes, and reminders.
The iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as an external hard drive.
Transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link along with all other important data such as documents, photos, etc.

  • IPhone 4s (7.0.2) hangs at 'Syncing Contacts' with iTunes 11.1

There seems to be a myriad of these various syncing issues posted; none of which have been answered and none that are exactly what I'm experiencing.
My wife's 4s (iOS 7.0.2) has been hanging at syncing Contacts on iTunes 11.1 (iMac; Mountain Lion) the past several days. It never gets past "Syncing Contacts".
Doesn't anyone have any advice. I've hard re-booted her iPhone; re-booted the iMac.
We don't have this problem with either my iPhone 5 (7.0.2), her 2nd-gen iPad or her old iPot Touch.
We share the same contacts and calendars across all of these devices and the iMac.

May have solved it so am posting back.
I had tried several times to sync the 4s after turning off the syncing of 'Contacts' (but telling iTunes to "retain" the contacts that are on the phone and NOT delete them). That managed to get through all other sync stages. However it still wouldn't sync completely; again hanging at 'Syncing Contacts' whenever I would turn that feature of the sync process back on.
Just this morning I opted to Repair Permissions on the iMac's hard drive. I noticed severl repairs made to iTunes-related files' permissions.
Tonight on the first try, the 4s synced trouble free.
