Trouble syncing in iTunes 10

I just downloaded the new iTunes and I'm having trouble syncing songs to my iPod.  I have "sync only checked songs" selected under summary, but the music tab seems to be overriding it.  If I select entire library, I get stuff I don't want.  But the selected one doesn't work either, because it isn't certain albums or artists, it's specific songs.  So how do I get my the whole library, but only what is checked?

Nevermind, I was wrong about something....but if anyone's having similar trouble, this was really helpful. https://discussions.apple.com/message/12269053#12269053

  • Trouble syncing with iTunes!!!

    Hi--
I recently got a 2.0 USB hub (b/c my older computer has a 1.0 port)in order to sync my iPhone, but am having trouble. I even plugged the mouse and keyboard into the hub as well, AND disabled the auto-sync in iTunes.
So this is what happens: I dock my iPhone, it tries to open up iPhoto and iTunes--iPhoto pops up immediately, but iTunes takes forever. (BTW, my iPhone does not say "syncing") When iTunes does finally appear, it doesn't recognize my iPhone. Can anyone help???

so you're basically saying that the 2.0 hub isn't in fact "upgrading" my 1.0 port on my computer? so... i just need a new computer? yikes.

  • Having trouble syncing in itunes

I have been having trouble with my ipad syncing in itunes.  It seems that although it is connected, and the ipad IS connected, I have trouble syncing - I have to try over an over and then it just catches.

    Two thoughts:
1,  Are you running the current iTunes (11.0.2) on your computer?  You should be.
    2.  Are you syncing to exactly one computer (and not using another in addition)?  Is the iTunes on your computer set up on your Apple ID and password (and only that iD - in other words, nobody else is using this to sync devices)?

  • Having trouble syncing to ITUNES

I am a new IPHONE user.  Loaded ITUNES but I am having trouble connecting/syncing my IPHONE.

Ok I have just spents a couple of hours on this. After upgrading to the latest itunes i found it would not sync my library to my phone. So in the end I deleted the itunes libray abd then reloaded it, FINALLY it then let my phone sync the music.

  • Trouble syncing purchased itunes music

In December I bought some music from the itunes store, I've never done this before and havent done it since as i usually use CDs. I've recently had some trouble with my laptop which resulted in me losing all the music on it & so i had to import all my CDs back on to it. They have all synced fine with my iphone, but the two albums i bought in December from itunes are no longer in the library on my laptop, or on my phone. I have gone into 'my account' on itunes & it clearly shows that I DID buy the music (as show in the attached picture) but they are nowhere to be found! I thought that if you bought music from the itunes store, that you could then transfer them over again if they got deleted, but I have no idea how to do this (or if i just completely made it up myself !!). Can anybody help ?!

"I thought that if you bought music from the itunes store, that you could then transfer them over again if they got deleted, "
This has never been true.  You buy one and only one download.  Just like a cd it is your responsibility to copy/move/backup your music.  If you lose it, it is gone.
Just recently, Apple has announced that this will be possible in the fall with the release of icloud.  In the U.S a beta version has been released allowing some features now.  If you are in the U.S then open itunes store, click Purchased under Quick Links

  • Iphone 4 is having trouble syncing with iTunes. I keep getting a message sayign the phone is linked to a different itunes library. my old laptop was stolen, is that the problem? how do i solve it?

    Hi,
my iphone 4 was originally linked to my itunes library via my old laptop which just got stolen. I have brought a new laptop and authorised it - so now i can see my itunes library on it, but when i plug in my i phone it says that it is registered to a different library and that if i sync i will loose everything. How do i solve this problem? is it beacuse i'm using a new laptop, or something else?
The big thing for me is that i can not loose my contacts, diary etc information. When the error message comes up it says erasing and syncing will clear the phone - does that mean EVERYTHING, or just music and apps? if just music and apps i can live with that because i don't have any music on there yet and the apps i guess i could buy again if they aren't backed up.
My iphone is running on v 4, and the macair is brand new - so maybe there is a software problem? i have tried to update the version on my phone but agian i get a message saying that i will loose data if i proceed so i want to make sure everything is backed up and synced before i go ahead with that.
    Thanks guys

    Check your mac's Serial Number.
Some people have problems with missing serial numbers on their Macs and that's the message you get when this happens.
Click on the Apple at the top left of the screen, open "About this Mac" and click on "More Info". You should see a list with information about your Macbook Air. Check that on the Serial Number field you have your Mac's Serial. If you have "SystemSerial#" written instead then that's your problem.
You can re-enter your serial number if you have a USB CD drive, it's not very straightforward but I can walk you through it if you need it.
    Cheers

Before i installed windows 7 on my desktop i had windows vista. I synced my ipod during vista and it synced fine. But now when i try to sync it in windows 7 it doesn't sync and it freezes itunes. any idea?

how long does it "freeze"? give it more time.. and I mean a lot of time.. try copying a folder with lots of files to the ipod in disk mode and see if that works normal.

  • Having trouble syncing my itunes to my iphone 5

itunes sync gets stuck on "waiting for changes to be applied"

    Hello, katieokane1.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
This sounds like a possible permission issue with the iTunes Media Folder.  Follow the steps in the article below to make sure the permissions are set to read and write.  You can also navigate to ~/music/iTunes/iTunes Media and get info on to make sure permissions are set to read and write.

  • Having trouble syncing with Itunes

I'm trying to sync my Iphone 4s up to Itunes and it says my sync session has failed to start?  Never got this message before.  Just synced my phone up the day before and it worked fine.  Thanks for any help.

    Hi mattsadler11,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
What version of iTunes do you have on your PC?
I would suggest updating the iTunes software and updating the iPhone to iOS 7.0.3 and trying again.

  • TS2776 trouble syncing with iTunes

My new iPad will not sync some songs in my iTunes. Says see iTunes but what do I do?

    You should be able to:
Backup the device to the new installation
Transfer your purchases into a newly authorized library
Recover any other media using third party tools as suggested in this post from forum regular Zevoneer
Restore the device from the backup
This process should switch the association of the device to the new library, preserving the data and settings in your apps.
May also be prudent to attempt a backup to iCloud directly from the device before you start... Settings > iCloud > Storage & Backup > iCloud Backup > On. It won't save any media but it would preserve the general account settings and documents in case anything goes wrong while you are trying to extract your other data.
When you get it all fixed, make a backup!

  • HT4235 Having trouble syncing itunes playlist to ipod

I am having trouble syncing my itunes playlist to the ipod touch. When I connect the ipod to the computer and open itunes, the ipod shows that it is in the sync process. However, the playlist does not show up. The Diagnostic Test shows "no ipod found". I installed the newest version of itunes and have reset the sync history.

    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386
After connecting your iPod touch to the computer, choose the Music tab at the top. Let's make sure "Sync Music" is checked:
Afterwards, you'll have see the options to sync "Entire music library" and sync "Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres". If the latter is selected, four larger option boxes will appear allowing you to pick and choose what content will be synced. It may be that the specific playlist you are referring to is not checked.
For a visual instruction on how to do this, see the following:

  • I had trouble with a iTunes download.  Two songs of an album were not complete.  I contacted iTunes and yawl post the the download again.  My iTunes now has the complete copies.  The trouble is my iPhone will not accept/sync the complete copies.  What up?

I had trouble with a iTunes download.  Two songs of an album were not complete.  I contacted iTunes and they redownloaded the tunes.  My iTunes now has the complete copies.  The trouble is my iPhone will not accept/sync the complete copies.  It will only play the original incomplete copies of these songs.  I've made new playlists and made sure I had the correct items checked to backup/sync.  Still only the incomplete copies are played via the iPhone.  What's up?  What can I do to get to the iPhone to sync the correct version?

    - Are you saying that they are not listed in your Purchased section?
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store
    - Are they listed in your Puchases history when you log into your account on your computer?
    - Are they still available now for purchase? If not then you are out of luck
If they are still available and listed in your Puchase History then contact iTunes
