Trouble "syncing" my iPod

I have an iPod mini. I recently hit over capacity for the first time on it and so I went in and deleted a bunch of playlists from my iTunes to "clean it up" - but now when I try to synch my iPod it tells me that it cannot update it because the playlists no longer exist. How can I just get it to reflect what's now in my iTunes? It has actually wiped out everything on my iPod and there are currently NOTHING in my iPod at all! HELP!?!?!?

  • New trouble syncing my iPod Nano to Mac OSX 10.4.11

I know there have been discussions on this issue but I'm still needing help.  Simply put I have an iPod Nano 4GB and it's about 3.5 years old.  I've never had trouble syncing but when I went to charge my Nano, it charged but didn't sync.  I look at my iTunes library and I can't even see my device.  In fact, I don't even see a 'device' folder.  Can somebody help with a 'lay' explanation for me and step by step process on how to get syncing again!  (Also, I've received noticed that my USB doesn't have enough power which is a new event as well.  Grrrr.

I'm 60 and I can read it. And if I couldn't I would certainly get someone at the store to either get me a magnifying glass or read it to me. And your complaint would seem to be with Argos rather than Apple. I personally wouldn't trade with someone who would not let me read the minimum requirements on the box before purchasing.
No, there is a syndrome at work it but you've yet to get it right. You are correct that you need iTunes to use the 6th Generation Nana, but since iTunes is free and is available on computers from Apple, Dell, HP, Toshiba, Gateway, etc. I fail again to see how this is a vendor lock-in. And after a few months Xplay and others will catch up and provide alternate music managers.

  • Trouble syncing new ipod touch

I just got my new ipod touch. I started syncing it, but lost my internet connection in the middle of syncing (seems like a problem with the pc, just not sure why). The ipod seemed to stop syncing. It still said at the top of itunes that it was syncing but didn't seem to be doing anything at all. Do I have to have an internet connection to finish syncing? It loaded all my music I think, but never would do the photos or anything else. Thanks!

you dont need an internet connection to sync any of your music or photos. Sometimes my laptop freezes up because i guess syncing puts a load on the computer but it eventually finishes syncing. Im not sure why your photos didnt get synced unless you didnt check mark them to get synced or you unplugged it before it got to your photos. try re syncing your ipod. hope i helped

  • Trouble syncing an ipod nano

Help please! My wife uses this computer to sync her ipod nano. However the computer has just decided to delete certain songs from her ipod claiming that they are not authorised to be played on this computer. The songs, which have all been purchased from iTunes, remain in her library but cannot be downloaded to her ipod. We've tried restoring the ipod, but that made no difference. Any ideas?

Most likely, you'll need to authorize your computer.
To do that, from the "Store" menu in iTunes, click on "Authorize computer..."
Follow the prompts as you enter in your Apple ID and password, etc.
Then, after you have authorized your computer, connect your iPod to your computer again, and try syncing it with iTunes again.
Can you do it now, or no?

  • Having trouble syncing my iPod classic

Hi, Just received a message while trying to sync my iPod classic....You need to turn on synchronisation in iSync preferences before you can sync contacts and calendars. I was just trying to add new music...never seen this before. When I click on it it states the iPod filenam can't be synced because it cannot be read from or written to. Never had a problem before.....any ideas,,,thanks

Kim, sorry, but I couldn't get what you are trying to do.
    iTunes jargon
RESTORE - to erase all data, ie music, address, video etc in the connected iPod and populate them with factory settings.
Why do we need to do this? When the iPod hardisk filesystem is corrupted and the iTunes cant map the iPod hardisk file structure, to add new data, music, videos etc.
SYNC - The process, where iTunes overrides all data, music, videos in the iPod, with the iTunes Library. So if the iTunes library in your PC is blank, then iTunes will erase your iPod, till blank.
iTunes Library - the folder in your PC/MAC that contains all your data/music/video etc. The iTunes does not treat the iPod as a store, but rather as huge landfill, so you need 3rd party software to recover any data from the iPod back to the PC/MAC.

If iTunes cannot find the songs, then iTunes cannot put them onto your iPod at Sync time.
So first of all, you need to find the songs.
Did they ever Sync to your iPod in the past or are they newlly added to your Library?
Did you move them, rename them or delete them after they were added to your iTunes Library?
Do you use any other music programme that may have moved, renamed or deleted the songs after they were added to your iTunes Library?
Once you find them and add them back into your Library, they should Sync to the iPod.

  • Having trouble syncing 160G ipod classic.

I've been syncing tunes into my classic for months but today I had trouble. It wouldn't go into the sync mode. It just sat there connected freezing everything up. Could my cord be going bad or what? When I first tried today, I got an error message about my connection.

Everything is ok. I just had to reset it.

  • Having troubles syncing my ipod touch...

My ipod touch will not sync. On itunes it says I have almost 2GB left of memory but then when I try to sync it, it says it won't because it's full. I've unselected so many things to make more room even. Why might this be?
    Thanks!

I think the error message is still saying that there is not enough available on the iPod for the items you want to sync. Does the error message say how much more it needs?

  • I can't sync my ipod to my itunes library held on my external hard drive

I'm having trouble syncing my ipod (colour 20GB) to my I-tunes library. I moved to Australia, got a new laptop and brought my I-tunes library from the UK on my external hard drive. I've installed I-tunes on my new laptop here, and linked I-tunes to the external hard drive. All of the songs appear on my I-tunes library as on my previous computer when I open I-tunes, but when I connect my I-pod it does not sync to the I-tunes library. I've updated the software on the I-pod to the latest software, and I'm running the latest I-tunes on my computer. When I right click on the Ipod icon in Itunes and hit "sync" nothing happens.
I don't understand as the songs on my external hard drive are all in Itunes format, I used it at home and it worked without any problems. Is it because my Ipod is somehow still synced to my old laptop?
I have tried copying all of the songs to my local hard drive, and manually dragging and dropping tunes from the I-tunes library to my Ipod using I-tunes but nothing works.
Incredibly frustrating as I can't add or remove any songs to/from my Ipod! Can anyone help me I'm at my wits end!

  • Trouble with itunes ipod and windows vista

I just got a new computer with windows vista home premium (32bit) and i am having trouble syncing my ipod with itunes.
when i connect the ipod it asks me if i want to scan and fix the drive, if i click continue without scanning it sometimes wont let me sync, and if it does it only gets about half my music on there before saying it is unable to write to it (unknown error 53)

I have a similar problem, with my new iPod Touch crashing an XP Professional setup. It's worth noting that the Apple article also talks about potential USB conflicts with other devices on the system that might have bad drivers. They say the solution, if that is the fault, is to make sure all your USB drivers are good. I'll try that, by a process of elimination, before re-installing iTunes (as I thought I had the latest version and I don't have Vista). I'll come back here later to report the outcome.
