Trouble syncing my podcast playlist onto iPhone

I am making my own walking tours as enhanced podcasts (therefore ACC) for use when I travel. No problem with making them in Garageband 6.0.5
and sending them to iTunes 11.1.5. Once in iTunes I set Kind: Podcast. Once in Playlists (or in the Podcast folder in iTunes' Playlist), I am having problems getting them to sync with my iPhone 5 running 7.0.6. I have had success getting one there but once I add a second, the first corrupts and will either disappear, show the right title but play the wrong file, or grey out. I am not publishing to the store I just want to get my personal podcasts onto my iPhone to use when I travel. What do I need to do to accomplish this? It seems to work on my old iPod 5.1.1 with the Music app so leads me to believe it is something between iTunes and the Podcast APP. Is it possible to do this with the Podcast APP? Or do I just give up and make them Audiobooks or Music?

No, I don't want to get into constructing the feed and publishing. "Changing the file kind to Podcast in iTunes on a Mac results in them appearing as a podcast with no title and the file as a single episode." Yes, this is why it is so buggy trying to sync. The first episode must set some text file then the following episodes corrupt this causing problems.
The thing that drives me nuts is that I have been able to sync two of the enhanced podcasts (after many tries) and they both showed up under Podcast App/New Stations/iTunes Playlist and played perfectly with chapters markers and podcast controls. When I tried to sync a third episode in the same way, the previous episodes were corrupted. A single episode will also show up under My Podcasts, and sometimes even a second one. Resyncing can mess it all up so title 1 will actually play title 2 file. It seems there is a way to get them to the Podcast app but so many bugs in the process nothing works the same way twice. I have read that dumping the Podcast app and returning to use the Music app for podcasts might help. A bug in Podcast app when it comes to recognizing playlists. Thanks for the suggestion, rather than spend more days on this I am ready just to make them Audiobooks and hope that will work. If not, then I know I can do the music route, create a new station or playlist so they are organized in one spot. I loose the podcast controls though. I can live without the chapter markers if I have to but that 15 second repeat is important.

I don't blame this person whatsoever for making the assumption that the iPod portion of his phone would work similarily, if not the same, as the iPod.
But it does work the same as the iPod. As with an iPod, you can sync all songs and playlists, or selected playlists, or you can manually manage music and videos. You can also select sync only checked songs and videos under the Summary tab and uncheck the songs in your iTunes library that you don't want transferred to your iPhone. This can be used with syncing selected playlists - if you want to remove a song from your iPhone that is in a selected playlist without removing the song from the playlist in iTunes, you uncheck the song in the playlist in iTunes followed by a sync. There is no difference with an iPod in this regard except for the iPhone not supporting disk mode.
In order to manually manage music and videos with an iPod, you must select this under the Summary tab for the iPod sync preferences, and the same for the iPhone.
And if you resent his rant, why respond and waste your volunteer time on this post?

Or the iPhone can be sold to someone else with the proceeds used to purchase a different phone. I haven't read any reports about someone having trouble selling their iPhone used at a good price even if damaged.

Trouble syncing "selected podcasts" on iPhone

Let me start by saying, this was all working fine on my iPhone until I recently started using the same Macbook Pro to sync my 2nd gen iPod Nano.
The issue is that I want only "selected podcasts" on the iPhone, and I have checked their boxes on the Podcasts tab and choose to Sync "all unplayed."
However, when I sync the iPhone, every podcast is synced, even if it's name isn't checked in the "Selected poscasts" list.
The iPod nano is working fine, and I only get the podcasts I have choosen for it.
Both have the "Sync only checked songs and videos" checked on each Summary tab.
Any ideas how to keep the Nano's podcasts off the iPhone?

It seems that when I checked the "Manually manage music and videos" button, the iPhone started syncing correctly again. This wasn't necessary before adding the Nano, and is still not needed on the Nano in order to only sync selected Podcasts.

Tracks syncing with different names onto iphone

Just transferred some new CDs onto my itunes (10.2.1), which is running on my imac with mac os x 10.6.7, but when i sync my iphone and ipad some of the songs from the new CDs play a different song from the same album, not the one that is listed. Its not the case with all of them only some. Both my iphone and ipad are also running the latest software updates. When I play the same songs from itunes, everything is normal.

Yes, however, the process will involve erasing all the current content on the iphone and resyncing with the new computer....which means you'll have to reload all your content onto the iTunes of your new computer.
It works like the iPod...it can only be tied to one computer and only that computer's content can be loaded on the iPod/iPhone. You can't upload from the iPod/iPhone to the new computer through iTunes.

Getting a playlist onto iPhone

I have recorded some band rehearsals on my iPhone, synced them with iTunes via my desktop Mac, then added them to a particular playlist in iTunes. Now, when I sync my iPhone with my desktop, those particular tracks don't appear in the playlist on my phone. (Only in the voice memos list, but I don't want them there.) Other tracks in the playlist, that didn't originate from a voice memo, appear fine. How can I get the whole playlist to be added to my iPhone?

If you recorded something via your phone's voice memo app, it will sync to your computer as a regular song, because of the fact that is is classified as an m4a. On your computer, you will be able to move it around from playlist to playlist. However, your phone knows that it is in fact a voice note, and not an actual music track, so you won't be able to put it in a playlist on your phone.

A friend of my parents has contacted me to help her prepare a bunch of iPods to give to friends on her husband's 70th birthday party. What she has asked for is around 50 iPod shuffles, each with the same playlist of her husband's favourite music.
Is it possible for me to just hook up the 50 iPods one-by-one to my MacBook, or are there restrictions to how many iPods you can sync with one computer? Or perhaps restrictions with how many iPods one iTunes song can be synced to?
If anybody has any experience with this, your knowledge of the best way to go about this would be much appreciated.

iTunes currently does not have a restriction to the amount of devices it can synchronize to. This is a pretty fun idea for a birthday celebration!

The sync process for iTunes content is a one way transfer process only. The only data that is truly synchronized by definition via the iTunes sync process with a supported application on your computer is for contacts, calendar events, Safari bookmarks, notes, and reminders.
The iPhone is not designed or intended to be used as an external hard drive.
Transfer your iTunes library from your old computer to your new computer per the instructions included with this link along with all other important data such as documents, photos, etc.

Trouble transfering songs from itunes onto iphone

Hi, I got a used iphone off my friend and can't sync my songs/apps, etc from my itune library successfully (I had an ipod touch). When I plug it into my PC I get a pop-up on itunes asking if I want to 'transfer' or 'don't transfer' purchases. I don't want any of the songs from the ipod so I clicked 'don't transfer'. Then I go to 'file' and 'sync' and it says on the top info that it's syncing for a couple of seconds and then goes back to the apple logo. Do I need to authorise the computer through my friend's username and password? As far as I know he's still using the same details for his new upgrade iphone so I don't know if that would work?

Just to start with a clean slate, you can Restore the iPhone using iTunes. Since you had an iPod Touch, you'll be given the option of using the backup of that device to set up the iPhone.

Trouble Syncing Video Podcasts the way YOU Want It.

Okay lets say I have 5 most recent episodes of the NBC Nightly News video podcasts -- each are 120MB in size. I only want the NEW episodes synced into my iPod Nano so I go to the iPod settings and configure the podcasts to sync only NEW episodes. In my iTunes, it currently shows 1 of the 5 episodes that is marked NEW. After syncing my iPod, I find that 600 MB of video (meaning all 5 episodes) is in my iPod -- when I had set it to sync only NEW episodes. I disconnect my iPod and I find that only the unplayed episode is visible.
This bug also applies if I set my iPod to sync only unplayed episodes -- even if I play the last 4 oldest episodes on my MacBook (which would register in iTunes that it has been played), iTunes would still sync all 5 into my iPod. This bug also applies if I set my iPod to sync only the 1 most recent episode.
Discuss? Any solutions? Or could this be an iPod nano problem?

How long should sync-ing my playlists onto my nano take?

I have a pc running xp, I successfully loaded music onto my new nano once. Now, I've tried to sync again and the screen is blinking the sync symbol and displaying the message "do not disconnect." Is it frozen? Do I need to reset? It's been like this for about half an hour and I don't want to damage it by disobeying what it's telling me to do...I really need help. THANKS TONS

How long it takes depends entirely on how fast your computer is and how much your trying to sync. Dont dissconect, that could cause damage to your ipod. Just give it time, as long as the box at the top is doing something it still syncing, pressing the small arrow circle will show you how far its got and how many songs its done.

If you're using iTunes 11 on Windows, press the Alt and S keys. Otherwise, click on Store at the top of the iTunes application window(Windows) or the top of the computer's screen(Mac OS X).

This sounds like a possible permission issue with the iTunes Media Folder. Follow the steps in the article below to make sure the permissions are set to read and write. You can also navigate to ~/music/iTunes/iTunes Media and get info on to make sure permissions are set to read and write.

Having trouble syncing email with iCloud and iphone--

If I delete mail from the icloud or iphone, email is deleted from imac, iphone, and/or icloud. If I delete mail from the imac, the iphone and icloud email is not deleted. Any ideas as to whether I have a setting on the mac? I am running OS X 10.7.2. Thanks in advance for your help!

Trouble syncing calendars on 2 linked iPhones

I and my husband have iphones that are linked (we use my Apple ID and pw). My husband's iPhone sends calendar events to me, but they do not show on his phone. In trying to troubleshoot, all his calendar entries have been erased, including ones I made and that were originally on his phone. I can no longer send events to his phone. Everything still shows on mine.

Use iCloud to synchronize the two calendars. Any change in one calendar is quickly changed in the other.
Establish the same iCloud account using your common Apple ID on both iPads via Settings > ICloud and then turn on calendars via Settings > iCloud > Calendars to ON.
