Trouble syncing photos in iTunes to iPad

I am trying to sync selected photos to my ipad(1).
I have made an album but when I select that album(which only has 98 photos in it),it sync and ends up with over 200 photos(and not just the ones from the album).
I have deleted and tried again but it's the same problem?
I have selected in Sync photos the iphoto option, and then selected albums...which I have chosen no events.
Before I select the album I want to use, it already has 139 written in the top corner, which are the photos I don't want in the album.
Can anyone help me with this?

The album only has 98 photos in it(no other folders).I'm trying to sync to an Ipad..I've already tried doing the album again but I just ended up with the same photos twice?..confusing?

  • Problems with Syncing Photos between ITunes and iPad

    Dear Mac Users,
    1. I have been syncing Ipad and my MacBook Pro using I Tunes a lot.
    2. My storage habits are Standard so all files are imported using iTunes and all in Pictures Folder, important using ITunes.
    3. Recently i add new Photo event to sync, it does optimization shows me total number of files, start copying and then stops and here is a message comes up:
''The IPad cannot be synced. The required file can not be found"
4.Files are there , I see them both on IPhoto and on Disk.
Can you help with resolving this issue.
    Thanks in Advance,
    Alkhas

I assume it is a POP account. Each individual device should have the setting for what to do with an email when it's (automatically) downloaded: in Mail it's in Preferences>Accounts>Advanced:
If it's not checked, mail will be left on the server indefinitely. If it's checked and the drop-down menu set to remove mail immediately that's what will happen; or you have a choice of how long before it's removed. The removal takes place when you check mail, I don't know whether iOS devices have the same setting or where it is.
You can see that if it's set differently on different devices you may get confusing results. I would suggest setting to one month on all devices, if you can, so that each has a chance to access the emails.
Just to prevent confusion: iCloud email does not work like this.

  • Trouble syncing photos from itunes (file locked)

Whenever I select a folder from which to sync pictures from, it tells me, (The ipod cannot be synced, the required file is locked)
It actually says this whenever itunes says "syncing ipod"
First of all, What file? What's the file called? Where can I find this file? and finally, How do I "unlock" it?
    Thanks in advance

Try deleting what is called the iPod Photo Cache folder on your computer. This will require re-syncing the selected photos creating a new iPod Photo Cache folder.

  • After syncing a JPEG photo from ITUNES to IPAD, how large is the file on IPAD?  does the answer depend on the size of the original JPEG file in ITUNES?

    1)  Does downsizing the original jpeg photos to be synced with IPAD help reduce the total storage required on IPAD for the photos? What is the relationship between original JPEG file size in ITUNES vs final synced photo file size on IPAD?

    Thank you for your response.
The sync process compresses the JPEG files -- the question is how much, so that I can determine a) how many photos 32 gigs will store in sync, and b) can I reduce the memory required by taking smaller jpeg files with my camera

    I had a similar problem (https://discussions.apple.com/message/24525903#24525903)
The solution in my case was to start iPhoto and let it update the library, even thu itunes was set up to sync with Aperture.

  • I have ipad wi-fi cellular.  Photos won't open when I insert the SD Reader.  I tried syncing photos through itunes and that didn't work either. What do I need to do to get photos on ipad?

Have ipad wi-fi cellular.  Photos won't open when I insert the SD Reader.  I also can't download photos from pc through itunes.  Need help getting pictures on ipad.

For the SD card, are you copying the photos onto it yourself from your computer ? If you are then you need to create a DCIM directory off the root of the card, with the photos underneath it, and the photo filenames need to be exactly 8 characters long (no spaces) plus the file extension i.e. in a similar format as if a camera had created/written them.
In terms of syncing photos, what happens when you try ? You should be able to sync photos by connecting your iPad to your computer and selecting the iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side selecting the Photos tab - using that tab you should be able to select which photo folders to sync to the iPad. There is a bit more info on this page. You will need to sync all the photos that you want on the iPad together in one go as only the most recent photo sync remains on the iPad - synced photos can't be deleted directly on the iPad, instead they are deleted by not including them in the next photo sync.

What problems are you having ? You should be able to sync photos by connecting and selecting your iPad on the left-hand side of your computer's iTunes, and on the right-hand side there should be a series of tabs, one of which should be Photos - if you select that tab you can then select which photo folders (or iPhoto albums/events) to sync to the iPad. • Can no longer sync photos via itunes

iTunes has quit syncing photos to my devices (iPad, iPhone). First I noticed that some photos were not synced by comparing to original folder contents. I tried removing all photos by deselecting the Sync Photos option and deleting the iTunes Photo Cache. Now when I attempt to sync, I immediately receive an error "xx items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information". Where is this information stored and how do I fix this issue?

    For: itunes 10.6.1.7 (on Win 7), iphone 3gs 5.1 (9B176)
I am having a similar issue but on different hardware.  I attempt to sync photos but it only does about half of them.  I receive the "X items could not be synced. See iTunes for more information."
    - iTunes does not provide more information that I can find.
    - I deselected the sync of photos.
    - I restored my Iphone.
    - I deleted the "Ipod photo cache" folder.
    - Syncing the restored phone removed the photos on my Iphone successfully.
    - Syncing the photos again gives the above message.
    What am I doing wrong?
Why does iTunes promise me more information?

  • I can't sync photos from Mac to iPad.

I can't sync photos from Mac to ipad2 and i have read on the support page How to fix it but it won't work

Have the photos been taken with the iPad or have the photos been synced to the iPad Air? Photos synced with iTunes to iOS devices cannot be synced back. See this link:  iOS: Syncing photos using iTunes
If the photos have been synced to the iPad Air, you need an external app as JimHDK recommended. Or mail the photos, which will be tedious. To delete them from the iPad after transferring them, sync again with iTunes, but select no folders to sync.
If the photos have been taken with the iPad Camera, you can connect the iPad Air to your Mac using a USB cable and then to launch Image Capture or iPhoto to transfer the photos. But that will not transfer synced photos.

Yes, you can.  If syncing on a Mac with iPhoto version 6.0.6 or later, you may enable the option to "Include videos" to sync videos directly from iPhoto to your device. (Requires iOS 3.0 or later).

I am having trouble syncing photos with lightroom mobile. Lightroom (on computer) tells me that it's syncing but nothing appears on my I pad. Any comments?

however when I try to sync my older ipod with it and upload some new music to it, Itunes keeps telling me that all the previous songs will be erased
Yes, that's correct. If you don't have the songs that are currently on your iPod also in your new iTunes installation, they will be erased from the iPod if you sync it. Best to start afresh by first transferring all the music on your iPod back to your new computer/iTunes library.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
Once all the music is safely back in your new iTunes library, you can sync your iPod as normal.

  • Is anyone having trouble syncing photos ?

Some of my photos were messed up digitally, and had color blocks at the top or bottom, lighter areas in half the photo, the bottom half of the photo would be offset by a few pixels and just generally messed up. Some even looked color smeared (best way I can describe what I was seeing). After an exhaustive trial and error campaign, calling tech support once and taking the phone in to an Apple store, I finally have put my finger on the problem (I believe). I am running a Raid 1 setup with two identical drives. Each time I would sync photos to the iPhone I would have the problem. I had recently bought a USB/ATA external drive box and put one of my old harddrives in it that I wanted to recover some photos from. When I would transfer my pictures over to the single USB harddrive, and point iTunes to that location my photos would sync fine. I believe it is the Raid setup that is causing the problem. Raid must handle some files in such a way that Apple did not take in to consideration. I have called this in to tech support. I seem to be the only one with the problem so far.

    b noir,
This is a great post. I am an the IT administrator at my office. 1 of 7 employees were having trouble syncing photo's. All 7 employees are using a version of VIST OS.
I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, iTunes, Quick Time, Apple Mobile Device Support, and Apple Software Update several times. I deleted/edited registry, turned off all firwalls, etc. I still could not sync photo's. Seeing how this was a ne computer I asked the employee where the photo's were transferred from and she handed me a 60G WD Passport. I then proceeded to sync the photo's directly from the external drive to the iPhone, and.....every photo synced. I was hoping not have to contact apple support, so thanks.
