Trouble syncing photos to iPod.

When trying to sync my iPhoto albums with my iPod, I am getting an error message saying that some of the photos could not be synced. They show up fine on my iMac, but several are no where to be found on the iPod. Thoughts?

No problem.  Glad to have helped.   There was an issue with iTunes version 10.6 freezing while trying to sync an iPod Nano 6G.

however when I try to sync my older ipod with it and upload some new music to it, Itunes keeps telling me that all the previous songs will be erased
Yes, that's correct. If you don't have the songs that are currently on your iPod also in your new iTunes installation, they will be erased from the iPod if you sync it. Best to start afresh by first transferring all the music on your iPod back to your new computer/iTunes library.
For iTunes version 7 or later, then you can transfer purchased iTunes store music from the iPod to an authorized computer by using the "file/transfer purchases from iPod" menu. Note that the maximum of 5 authorized computers applies here.
Find out how to do that here.
How to copy iTunes purchases from an iPod or iPhone to a computer.
For all other non purchased content (your own CDs etc), check out the instructions/suggestions here.
Music from iPod to computer (using option 2). This a manual method using "hidden folders" and although it works, it is a little more involved than other methods.
Much easier ways are to use one of the many 3rd party programs that copy music from the iPod to the computer.
One of the most recommended is Yamipod. This is a free program that transfers music from iPod back to the computer. However, it does not transfer playcounts/ratings etc.
Other free programs are Pod Player, SharePod and Floola.
If you want to recover just the structure of playlists from the iPod (and not the actual song files themselves), there's iRepo for Windows. which I understand has this feature along with all the standard features for these programs.
iPodRip also has the feature enabling you to reconstruct playlists.
There is also CopyTrans. This does preserve ratings/playcounts etc if those are important to you but this program is not free. It also supports video transfer.
Once all the music is safely back in your new iTunes library, you can sync your iPod as normal.

  • Is anyone having trouble syncing photos ?

Some of my photos were messed up digitally, and had color blocks at the top or bottom, lighter areas in half the photo, the bottom half of the photo would be offset by a few pixels and just generally messed up. Some even looked color smeared (best way I can describe what I was seeing). After an exhaustive trial and error campaign, calling tech support once and taking the phone in to an Apple store, I finally have put my finger on the problem (I believe). I am running a Raid 1 setup with two identical drives. Each time I would sync photos to the iPhone I would have the problem. I had recently bought a USB/ATA external drive box and put one of my old harddrives in it that I wanted to recover some photos from. When I would transfer my pictures over to the single USB harddrive, and point iTunes to that location my photos would sync fine. I believe it is the Raid setup that is causing the problem. Raid must handle some files in such a way that Apple did not take in to consideration. I have called this in to tech support. I seem to be the only one with the problem so far.

    b noir,
This is a great post. I am an the IT administrator at my office. 1 of 7 employees were having trouble syncing photo's. All 7 employees are using a version of VIST OS.
I have tried uninstalling, reinstalling, iTunes, Quick Time, Apple Mobile Device Support, and Apple Software Update several times. I deleted/edited registry, turned off all firwalls, etc. I still could not sync photo's. Seeing how this was a ne computer I asked the employee where the photo's were transferred from and she handed me a 60G WD Passport. I then proceeded to sync the photo's directly from the external drive to the iPhone, and.....every photo synced. I was hoping not have to contact apple support, so thanks.

Try deleting the iPod Photos Cache folder. There may be more than one. For its location see:
iTunes: Photo sync creates iPod Photo Cache folder
Also, go to the Photos pane for the iPod in iTunes and make sure syncing photos is unchecked.

  • Help! Trouble syncing photos to the iPod touch

I have just downloaded pics from my digital camera, and I have having trouble syncing them with my iPod touch. They are all jpg files. I get an error saying:
"some (all) of my photos were not copied to my iPod because they cannot be displayed on my iPod."
Is there a certain style or size the photos need to be?

You will need to free up some more space. Regardless of the size of the photos you are trying to transfer to the iPod, you need more free space than 500mb to accommodate the photo cache.

  • Can't sync photos with iPod

I'm trying to load some photos in albums from iPhoto onto my iPod and it just isn't working. I click the Photos tab on the iPod screen; choose "Sync photos from iPhoto"; choose "Selected albums"; check the boxes of the albums I want uploaded onto the iPod; then press Sync. The swirling arrows come up next to the iPod name under Devices in the left column for maybe two seconds, then disappear. When I check, there are no photos on my iPod.
I've tried creating a new folder on my desktop, moving the photos into it and syncing from there - it doesn't work.
I'm doing everything right here and it just ain't happening. Can anyone help me?

I've got the same problem. Any help?

  • ITunes 9 no longer syncs photos to ipod touch

has anyone seen this? after "upgrading" to iTunes 9, the photo tab works fine, you can select photo folders to copy to the iPod touch, but when you sync it doesn't actually copy any photos to the iPod. Help!

ok this is really weird. what i have discovered is that iTunes thinks that no matter how many photos are in a folder, that there are only 41 photos in it. any folder i choose in itunes to sync photos from, it says "41". even if there are 101 photos in the folder, itunes thinks that there are 41. why would it do that? any body have a clue? this is driving me nuts! i have deleted itunes, deleted every last file associated with itunes including everything i could find in the registry, re installed and it STILL does it? where is it getting that info from? i am about ready to wipe my machine and start over from scratch but there must be a reason it is doing this. any suggestions??

  • Trouble syncing photos onto iPad and need help

I recently purchased an iPad for a family member for Christmas and it had been working fine until last night. When they attempted to add another photo album to the already existing ones on the iPad, itunes ended the sync, when it says "syncing photos," saying "the required file could not be found" and took of all of the photos that were on the iPad. The photos are stored in the main 'Pictures' gallery in folders where it normally syncs fine; however we do not know how to fix this or get the photos back on. There is plenty of room left on the iPad to store the photos, we have updated the iPad and itunes, and it always works when we sync our iPods.
Any help would be much appreciated; thank-you!

    Hey AlanaRama:
It could be that one of the photos that you are trying to sync is corrupted (or something).
Try dividing the photos in half and try to sync each half to see if that helps to find the problem photo.

  • Syncing photos to iPod makes my iTunes crash

I just bought my 4G Nano(Third-Generation) a week ago. It works fine at music.
But everytime i try to sync my photos to iPod my iTunes crash.
I put all my photos into one directory (5MB, 110pics, all low res picture), then start sync them in iTunes.
When the process bar comes to one certain place it stopped, then few minutes later iTunes crash.
Then the tray shows windows message like "coudn't write I:/"(I'm using a chinse version of XP), sometimes iTunes shows could't transfer too.
But there's still 32 photos tranfered, and available to watch them on iPod.
I tried sync some other photos again later, this time the as soon as I started to sync photos, iTunes crashed, then the "coudn't write I:/" message.
I tried again with 5 some other photos, it transfered 2 only, and the same thing comes up, iTunes crashed, the "coudn't write I:/" message.
So, anybody cam help with a solution? It will be perfect to watch photos on my iPod :\

Well, after my fifth try, it worked out.
I just randomly pick out 48 pisc that i liked from my 110 pics. (which are all batting pictures of Albert Pujols. Then it just worked)
No carsh, and less than 1 minutes. (2MB only)
But I won't call this answered, maybe this'll happen a lot in future, I just get lucky this time.
I've search the forum and knowing that VITSA has the problem with syncing photos crashs system, but I'm using XP, not many syncing photo problem in XP beeing seen after my search.
So i'm still very curious what cause this, anyone knows?
And anyone has the same issue i get, please reply.

  • Trouble syncing to my ipod nano

I am having trouble syncing my playlist in Windows Media Center to my new ipod nano. I've tried everything I can think of with no luck at all. Any help out there?

I believe iPods are designed only to sync with iTunes. I know there are ways to get it work with other applications, but I don't believe it's officially supported. You may want to contact Apple support or Microsoft support.

  • Having trouble syncing photos

Just got the iPhone 4 and am not able to sync photos to my mac. I actually never was able to with my 3g either, but just didn't care before.. but now it's really bothering me! When I plug in my phone to sync, the photos I've taken since last sync do not automatically load onto my computer. I tried to make a folder in iphoto called "iphone sync" and clicked in itunes to "sync photos from selected album" then click that album. but each time i plug in, i have to go into iphoto and click "import" and do it that way. i KNOW there has to be an easier way to have this done automatically.
now that i've messed with it, instead of just 1 folder in photos on my phone, i now have THREE. my created folder as well as "camera roll" and "photo library." anyone know the diff between those last two?
also, in "camera roll" all photos are the correct orientation, but in all other folders (my "iphone sync" folder and "photo library") the orientation is incorrect on many photos (landscape photos are portrait and vice versa).
any tips would be greatly appreciated. i tried searching online but am having a lot of trouble and can't seem to figure it out. i'm running an old version of iphoto, not sure if that's the reason. it's 4.0.3.

I believe you are looking at the process in the wrong way. Plugging your iPhone into iTunes will not trigger an "automatic loading" of pictures on your computer. Photos that are in the Camera Roll of your iPhone, ones that you have taken with the camera on the iPhone are "imported" to the computer. I'm not exactly sure how it works with a Mac and iPhoto, however you should be prompted to import the photos and they will be moved to the computer. With a Windows machine, they are defaulted to the Pictures folder.
You mention creating a folder on the computer and telling iTunes to sync the folder you created. However, if there are no pictures there, they will not get synced. Expecting the pictures to go to the newly created folder from the iPhone is not the correct assumption. This is not how it works.
The 3 folders that you speak of on the phone are correct. The camera roll just holds pictures taken with the iPhone, Photo libraray is the default location for photos synced from the computer, and the created folders are the ones that are synced from the computer. Think of the Photo library like you would a public library. It holds all of the photos that you have synced from the computer. The individual folders that you have created hold just the photos that you have put in those particular folders. There are not physically two copies of your photos, just that you can look at all photos from Photo Library, but just the ones in the particular folder if you select that folder.
    Hope that helps your understanding.

  • HT4236 Trouble syncing photos as "selected folders"

Can anyone please help? I'm having trouble uploading photos from my computer to my I-phone device.
The problem I'm having is I'm trying to sync photos to my i phone device and "select specific folders" and although this is never been a problem in the past prior to downloading I-tunes 11, it's not allowing me to sync selected photos (only allowing me to select all folders) as the appropraite selection to "sync selected folders" is blocked out and will not allow me to manually switch to it.
I've tried changing settings etc and seeing if there's anything that can allow me to do this, but have had no luck.
    Can Anyone help please?????

That's not really an answer, that's just a work around. Does anyone have an answer for this?
Put all the folders (or a shortcut to those folders) with photos into one folder and select that top level folder.
Then you can tick Selected folders and pick the subfolders.
The photos do not all need to be in one single folder.
Each folder will be a separate album in the Photos app.

  • IPhoto 2.0.x - sync photo to iPod

How do I upgrade my iPhoto so I can sync photos to the ipod?

In order to sync through iPhoto, it says I need iPhoto 4.0.3 or later.
Yes. But in order to copy photos to your iPod, you don't have to sync through iPhoto. The only reason to go through iPhoto at all is to be able to use an iPhoto album as the direct source for a group of photos to be copied to the iPod. If you don't have iPhoto 4, just select and Export (from iPhoto 2) whatever photos you want to sync to your iPod; put them in a folder on your desktop, and later move it to wherever you choose to store it. Quit iPhoto, open iTunes, and follow the instructions in "Copying photos to an iPod or iPod nano" from iPod Help. Instead of choosing an iPhoto album, choose the folder on the desktop as the source. No need for iPhoto 4.
This method does leave you with a folder full of pictures on your desktop (or wherever else you store it) that are duplicates of some of the ones in your iPhoto Library. So for the most economical use of hard drive space, you may want to upgrade to iPhoto 4 and sync directly with an iPhoto album through it. But you're not required to do so.
