Trouble to add new logical system

Hi,
I'm having trouble with my script, as I'm getting this error msg:
S00348 Field V_TBDLS-LOGSYS(1) input value is longer than screen field
I tried removing the error-triggering value, but without it the eCATT won't add the new Logical System (BW in this case)
Please help.

If you have recently updated any of the IM apps (windows live, yahoo messenger, gtalk) delete these and reboot your phone - there is an issue with the recent updates.

New Logical System for every BPM in R3?

Do I need to set up a new Logical System in my R3 system for every BPM in XI that sends IDOC to it?
I need several BPM to split messages which I want to send to a R3 system. When I configure the scenario, the BMP is imported to the Configurator and the Adapter-Specific Identifiers need be added. A Logical System must be entered for the IDOC adapter. This Logcial System must be unique.
Is it possible to have several BPM without setting up a logical system in R3 for each of them?

Hi Elling,
You can overwrite the logical system name in the receiver agreement. If you select a different system (from the SLD) as Sender Service, the IDOC will be send using the logical system name of this sender service.
What we normally do is, set the sender service for a BPM to the original sender service.

"For every new store opened, create one Logical System"...i have come across this sentence in 1 of the documents which spaeks about creation of logical systems
So should i create one Logical System for every store and if i am sending Gift Vouchers to POS so should i create Logical systems for it

Logical system is a System in which applications sharing a common data basis run. In SAP terms, a logical system is a client in a database. Messages are exchanged between logical systems.
Now the context you are talking about is not clear. Can you point out the specific information about the statement
"For every new store opened, create one Logical System"
It depesnds upon the background discription in that document.

I get a short dump when trying to define a logical system, the field clidep does is not defined in function module SCPR_BCSET_PROT_GET_TABKEYS:

Add new source system to BI

Hello,
Our requirement is to load data from a different R3 client to which we dont have a connection yet.
The idea is to create a new connection but keep the existing one.
Is there any automated tool to do this? We would like to avoid the manual creation of all infosources and transformations from the new source system, but to copy them from the existing one.
We found that there is a tool for replacing the current source system with another one (BDLS), but we just want to create this new one in paralel with the current source.

Hi,
what you can do is, create a transport request containing all source system related things like the infosource/datasource assignment, transfer rules... and import that transport back into your dev system. Before the import you should maintain the settings for source system after transport accordingly.

I`m having trouble with my new advanced system the mac os X 10.0.3

Hello everybody...
I need Help, I would appreciated anything anybody could do to help me...
I`m trying to install the new software the mac os X 10.0.3 and having trouble transfering all my files form the mac os 9.2.2 classic to my new system...Do i have to erase my hard drive to do a clean install???? Could I transfer my files to my home`s computer, instead of buying a portable smartdisk hard drive of 100 Gb, and then so i could transfer my fiels back to my mac without no trouble ????

Hi, John. If you weren't having trouble with Mac OS 10.0.3, it would be a major surprise. OS X 10.0.x and 10.1.x were unusable beta versions and never should have been released, in the view of most people who ever tried to run them. It would be a severe trial of your patience and a waste of your time to install 10.0.3 on your Mac.
If you want to run OS X, buy OS X 10.2.x (Jaguar), 10.3.x (Panther) or the current version, 10.4 (Tiger). All are available at reasonable prices from AppleRescue. Tiger is also available from any Apple retailer. Carefully read the system requirements for whichever version you prefer, and be sure your computer meets them before buying. If your Powerbook only has a 10GB hard drive, install a larger one (at least 40GB is sensible, since the cost per gigabyte of smaller drives is now exorbitant compared with larger units) before bothering to install OS X.
It would be most advisable to copy everything on your current hard drive to an external FireWire hard drive, then reformat and erase the internal drive before installing OS X on it. Doing so insures that your data is all safe and that your internal drive is in tip-top condition when the new OS is installed. After performing the installation, you can copy the contents of the external drive back onto the internal drive. The external drive will then be available as backup space for the entire contents of the internal drive, including OS X, all your applications, and all your data.
While OS 9 is still installed on your hard drive, check to make sure your Powerbook's firmware is up to date. It will need to be brought up to date while running OS 9, before you install OS X 10.2 or higher. Here is the updater for your 500MHz Tibook:

Logical System Name after System Copy

Hello,
I have three questions about the logical system name after system copy.
Q1) When I change SID D22 to S11 during system copy,
do I have to change the logical system name of all clients in the target system? The target system is used for test, and the landscape has S11 and Virtial system. The target system S11 does not communicate with the source system D22.
Q2) If the answer for Q1 is YES, is it correct that the following procedure for changing logical system name?
1.Tr-CD:BD54
Add new logical system name for all clients in the target system.
2.Tr-CD:SCC4
As for all clients, select new logical system name with F4 help.
Q3) If the answer for Q1 is YES, do I have to add new RFC connection entries with SM59 for all clients in the target system?
I refer to the guide "Homogeneous and Heterogeneous
System Copy for SAP Systems Based
on SAP Web Application Server
ABAP 6.40 SR1".

As a good and ideal practice the answer to your first question Q1 is yes. Infact I would say that in case you are using ALE then it is must
For Q2 there has to be an additional step which is most important one. Running BDLS transaction which would allow you to change logical systems in relevant tables from the one of source system to target system.
For Q3 the answer is agaain yes and you can have two approaches>
1. manually recreate all the RFC destinations after sys. copy.
2. Export all the RFC destination data relevant tables before system copy and then reimport them after sys. copy.

New outputs generated when changing logical system in output master record

We are sending documents from ECC 5 to a legacy system via XI/PI. We are about to move from an old XI installation to a new PI installation. The output record used (for example in a billing document) is set up based on logical system. When moving from the old to the new platform, we need to change the output records from the old logical syste to the new logical system. However this leads to generation of new outputs in all billing docs when opened in change mode. This goes also for billing docs where we already generated outputs via lthe old logical system in the past. Is there any solution to prevent the automatic generation of outputs for documents where the condition type already was successfully processed (as it works when the logical system is not changed)?

Normally the same output is not supposed to be generated, unless 'Multiple issuing' checkbox is checked in the output type configuration.
Also you can probably add a requirement in the output determination procedure and check if output record already exists. Take a look at the standard 'Reprint' routine, kind of the opposite is needed in this case.

SLD: Adjust / Add logical system name for Business System [XI 3.0]

Hi,
In the System Landscape Directory, is it possible to adjust the logical system name of an already created business system?
I found in the content maintenance in Subset="All Classes", Class=SAP_BCClient" --> <MY_BUSINESSSYSTEM_ENTRY> the only possibility to add information on the logical system name of a business system.
Unfortunately, the information provided in the BCClient Entry is not forwarded to the Business System Entry for my Business System in the Business Landscape View of the SLD...
Is there another possibility to add the logical system name to an exisiting business system?

In a third party business system, it is not possible to add a logical system, but you can delete the business system and recreate it with the same name without problems.
After assigning a new logical system to a business system, you have to go to the integration directory and reload the logical system for the business system. Therefore open the Business System in change mode and maintain the Logical System with menu service -> Adapterspecific Identifiers.

Wrong logical system for partner profile

Dear gurus,
we have been sending ORDERS Idocs for some time now, using to a logical system called MSC_MM_PRD, a RFC connection called MSC_MM_PRD and a port for Idoc processing called A000000003.
Now, we would like to send ORDERS Idocs to another logical system. We created that new logical system called MES001, a RFC connection (MES) and a Port for IDoc processing using that RFC destination (A00000004).
After that we maintained a partner profile for the new logical system MES001 with outbound parameters for ORDERS Idocs. So far, so good.
But then, I had to create a new message type for purchase orders to use that new connection (called ZEDI) and I guess that is where I made a mistake: I copied the existing message type for the old ALE connection and changed some parameters (like name etc.).
Now, when I create a new purchase order and add a message of the new type and save the order, I get an error message:
EDI: Partner profile outbound process code not available
Message no. E0335
Diagnosis
An outbound partner profile could not be found with the following key:
/MSC_MM_PRD/LS//EF/ZEDI//
[u2026]
Procedure
Please check the outbound partner profiles for the assignment of the process code:
As you can see, SAP tries to find an outbound partner profile using the old logical system (MSC_MM_PRD) and the new message type (ZEDI) as a key and obviously fails.
Can anyone please tell me why SAP uses the old logical system and how I can change that?

problem was, that we had not created a proper distribution model for the message type (BD64). After we did that, it worked fine.

Use of Logical Systems - Compliance Cal +ve's and -ve's

We are looking at setting up a logical system to connect all our various systems to CC..... rather than entering each system individually in each of the functions.
Does anyone have any experience they can share with regards to use of logical systems?
I can only see positives - given that you add a Logical system once to a Function and then when a new system comes along, you just update the Logical System.
However I am interested to hear what do you think of using of logical systems and if there are any downsides?

I always use LOGICAL connectors as this allows you to more easily manipulate the ruleset and teh systems that it is connected to.

Logical Systems vs Cross Systems

Dear all,
I have two physical SAP ERP systems grouped under one logical system.
Now I want to connect to a third SAP ERP system in order to execute Cross System analysis between the systems under the logical system and the new third system.
I understand that I cannot do a Cross System RA on systems of the same logical system so that´s the reason why I need to set up the third system as a single new ERP system.
Anyhow the new ERP system should use the same rule set than the two systems of the logical system.
So I´d just like to set up the new system connector for the GRC 5.3 but I do not want to load the same rules again for the new ERP system, etc.
Is this possible? I tried to create a new logical system containing the new ERP system and regenerate the rules for the logical systems. But after that no simple RA is possible for the new ERP system.

Hello Markus,
Yes, you are right that you can not include the third system in the same logical group if you wish to use it for cross-system analysis. If you choose to have this as a stand alone system in RAR then first you will have to upload the rules for this stand alone system in RAR. The rules loaded for logical system will not work for this system as it is not part of the logical system group.

Creating logical systems in EP7

hello,
We have created a logical system that conects to a backend. All portal iviews point to this logical system.
We have to change the properties of the logical system but before do this step we need to proove that works correctly without changing the final users preview.
So we should create a new logical system and duplicate all iviews to point to this new logical system and to prove them.
But We prefer not to duplicate all portal content... Is other way to do this????
