Trouble transferring data from iPhone 4 to Mac OS X 10.5.8

I borrowed my sister's old iphone 4 whilst i was travelling overseas. Her accounts were still on the phone and it was closed to her carrier so i had to unlock it and change settings around so that i could use my accounts.
Whilst unlocking it i backed up her phone on my iTunes located on my Mac OS X 10.5.8. Now that i am back from travelling, i want to transfer my 4hour voice memo, purchased songs on iTunes and iBook, any purchased apps and SMS/imessages to my laptop. I am giving the iphone back to her so if there i any way i can transfer the data without having to buy an application that would be helpful.
Sidenote: I'm not too familiar with iCloud but it is set to her account on the phone. If i delete her account and use mine what will get deleted?
After i get the data i want off the phone. How do i transfer the applications which i've backed up on my iTunes on my Mac back to the phone so i can give it back to her as received?
Any help would be much appreciated. I erased all of the music on my brothers itunes account when i transferred songs to my ipod so a little anxious about using iTunes.

It was locked to Vodafone Australia and i had to unlock it so that i could put an international sim card in it. Because i was running out of time, i went in-store and asked the Vodafone staff and they said i can unlock it using iTunes. I had to google the instructins however as i wasn't sure of what buttons to press. So i went home and went through the whole process only to have it fail at the very end. I went in-store and the staff showed me how to restore files back to my sister's phone and was finally unlocked.

  • Transfering data from iPhone BACK to Mac

Hi. My Mac's hard drive recently crashed and everything is wiped out. I have a new hard disk now.
My question is: How do I transfer data FROM my iPhone... BACK to my Mac? I would like to transfer data from my iCal, iTunes, iPhotos and contacts.
Would appreciate some advice. It's been a very frustrating experience. I don't want to screw up and end up deleting all my data from my iPhone instead.

While I have read and checked, and looked into this topic, there
isn't a whole bunch of stuff that is easily found via online search
even if the search terms or words are changed around quite a bit.
For just moving iTunes music, that is easier than data; and I can
see the need to re-integrate data and your stuff back to a Mac
especially if you need to restore the computer, should it fail. The
items on an iPhone or iPod Touch, etc, would be essential to a
multi-tasking user who has a home base and needs to save and
use this stuff between several devices you have and own.
Most of the sync information on how to move stuff, tends to delete
the peripheral content from the iPod, iPhone, etc and sets them
back to some pre-used state or default initialization. There must
be some other way, that actually lets the user take control over
items so you can archive and restore, or reuse them in your Mac.
So, with the odds not looking good, on retaining content should
one go through with the often suggested sync or other wiping
results of attaching a Mac to a portable iPod, etc, be careful to
not do that unless you have that content somewhere else first!
Is there a way you could use a gmail account to save and move
items, perhaps if you can upload content there, it can be saved
into a computer via email (wireless, etc) and save it that way?
For the iTunes music, you could check into and see if this thing
called (iTunes, backward) may work. I have not read a lot about
it, though it has been around awhile. Not sure what else it can do.

Since I don't have an iPod, iPad or iPhone (any cell phone) I am
also uniquely unqualified to offer a functioning reply to this topic.
    In any case...
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Install ical data from iphone 5 to MAC OS 10.8.5?

My calander contents were wiped out by iCloud and I do not want to use iCloud at all!
The events are still in my iphone and they are in a fairly recent back up from my MAC.
Is there a way to move my events from iPhone to MAC? or
Should I just re-install events from my MAC backup and then manually add the events that are missing?

  • Transfering data from Iphone 3Gs to a computer

Hi, (this is my first post on these forums :P) how can i prevent itunes from deleting all my data from my Iphone. I heard that you can download some software, but is there an "apple way" of doing this.
By the way, I really love apple products but can someone tell me whats the logic of having an iTunes Store/App Store on the iphone and be able to download stuff if when you connect it to iTunes it eareses everything?

what about if i download some software? will it work?
    No.
iTunes includes an option to transfer iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store from an iPod or iPhone, but this is for iTunes content that was purchased/downloaded from the iTunes store only.
First you need to authorize the computer with the iTunes account with iTunes that was used to purchase/download the iTunes content with the other computer. With the iPhone connected to iTunes and without syncing, at the iTunes menu bar go to file and select Transfer Purchases From - the name of your iPhone.

  • Transfering data from Time Machine to Mac Book Pro

Trying to transfer data from Time Machine to new Mac Book Pro.  Migration Assistant closes down Time Machine and so it doesn't show up on my icons.  How to work around?

Those folders were inadvertently excluded from your backups, and as a result you can't restore your data in Recovery, Setup Assistant, or Migration Assistant.
Starting from a fresh installation of OS X, set up a new administrator account and log in. Follow the instructions on this page to associate your existing backups with the new installation.
You should now be able to enter Time Machine and restore your user data from a snapshot. I suggest you do this in two stages. Quit all applications except the Finder before you begin.
Restore all the visible items at the top level of your home folder.
Hold down the option key and select Go ▹ Library from the Finder menu bar. Enter Time Machine and restore all items in the Library folder. Log out and log back in as soon as the restore is complete.
Any other invisible folders or files at the top level of your home folder that you want to preserve will have to be restored separately. For most users, that isn't necessary.
You'll have to reinstall all third-party applications from scratch, or restore them from another kind of backup, if you have one.

  • Even with ipod rip, trouble transferring music from Win-IPOD to Mac-Itunes

New Macbook (recent convert). Windows formatted IPOD. Bought IPOD-Rip. Plugged in ipod holding down Apple+Option so no accidents. Said IPOD RIP didn't recognize any music on IPOD, but did I want to do "hard recover" Yes. So--it then transferred entire contents of IPOD to Mac desktop. There it sits in all its glory. But my Mac Itunes doesn't recognize it, I THINK because it is Windows formatting. How do I get these songs into my Mac Itunes? While transfers are commonly discussed here, I don't think I've seen this particular problem?

Thanks so much! Seems to have basically worked. But didn't import the playlists...I'm sort of assuming that given everything else peculiar to my situation, that there's nothing I can do about that?

  • Having Trouble getting data from iphone 4 to itunes so I can ultimately transfer to 4s.

Original itunes machine is dead, so I deauthorized all machines and authorized current machine and couldn't sync items from phone to machine. Apple then told me to uninstall itunes and reinstall, have done so but still can't get it to sync all items from phone to itunes library. (It only synced purchased songs, none of the apps)  I want all the data on my phone to go to my computer, not what is on computer but can't get there. Any suggestions?

Media sync (music videos, etc.) is 1 way. Computer to iPhone. Items purchased on the phone can be transferred using File>Transfer Purchases in iTunes. If you have music on the phone that was synced to it from another computer but not purchased from iTunes, you will either have to use the backup of your old computer to get it on the new one, as suggested above, or invest in 3rd party software to extract it from the phone.

  • Am i able to transfere data from iphone to ipad

I am planing to purchase a new ipad, and i want to transfere my content of the iphone to it.
Is it posible to do that through the PC, or the blutooth, without internet connection ?.

You can't do it via bluetooth, but you should be able to copy all your iTunes purchases from your phone to your computer's iTunes (File > Transfer Purchases) and then backup up the phone and restore that backup onto the iPad. A backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their content and settings, so you need the apps on your computer's iTunes (e.g. via Transfer Purchases) for them to then be restored with their content.
The contents of the Music and Videos apps also aren't included in a backup, and neither are photos that were synced from a computer.

  • Transferring data from iPhone to new hard drive

If I get a new hard drive on my MacBook, how do I go about transferring my data on my iPhone to the new hard drive without losing the data?

    What data?
The iphone is not a back up device. Where is your back up? Using your back up is the simplest way.
If you have at least one unique contact and calendar entry in your computer, you should get the option to merge the data when you first sync.
You can transfer itunes purchases: File>Transfer Purchase
The other music and pics cannot be synced back to the computer -it is a one way sync -computer to iphone.

  • Transfering data from iPhone 4 to 4s

I had a disaster with my iPhoto library and am slowing recovering pictures which are now a huge mess. In the midst of this my new iPhone 4s will arrive today. My current iPhone 4 has a large number of pictures properly organized. My question is provided this phone is properly backed up, when I restore the new iPhone 4S will the pictures be transferred. I am concerned iTunes might rely on iPhoto to transfer pictures and if the iPhoto library does not have the pictures on my iPhone 4 they will be lost. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Transferring data from iphone 3G to 3GS + something that makes this complex

My father passed away this past week, and gave me his new iPhone 3GS to replace my current 3G model. Once I have AT&T switch me over to the 3GS phone, then I know I need to perform a restore back-up to transfer all of my data over. Hopefully that will be easy.
Here's my question: I want to transfer the apps that my dad had purchased over to my account as well. How can I do that?
Also, I'm currently using my business laptop as my primary iTunes, but I want t switch to my personal computer now and have my library and everyone on it. How can I do that?
    Thanks -

really there is no changing your account in iTunes. All you need to do is authorize your new main computer for your account and your dads account (sorry to hear about your loss btw).

  • Trouble transfering music from old computer to Mac

I just tried to transfer all of my music from my old PC to my new Macbook using my iPod. I followed all of the directions the tutorial had and it didn't work. Help anyone please??

There is a good general guide to switching from Windows to Mac at the following link that touches on moving music as well: How to Move to a Mac - Get your stuff from your PC to your new Mac
    There are also these guides:
iTunes for Mac: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
iTunes for Windows: How to copy purchases between authorized computers
    Networking with a Windows PC
Don't forget by the way if you have purchased any tracks from the iTunes Music Store to deauthorise your old PC if you are disposing of it so you don't use up your 5 allowances: About iTunes Music Store Authorisation and Deauthorisation
