Trouble transferring my CS5.1 license on to new macbook

I had a Photoshop CS5.1 license activated on my laptop in early 2013. My laptop has now crashed and I am having trouble activating photoshop on my new macbook using the key for CS5.1 license. I tried the support chat a couple times without success.

If you can get with chat have them reset your activations so that you are sure you are not dealing with a situation where you have already tied up all your activations in the failed machine.  If you continue to have a problem check your account to make sure you are using the correct serial number.  Repost and indicate your system specs if you still have a problem.

  • Using my CS5.5 License on a New MacBook

Last semester my CS5.5 was running on a MacBook Pro that died an unfortunate death under a cup of hot tea. I have since replaced it with a new-to-me (used) Imac that's running the CS5.5 Mac-version software. I plan to get another laptop at a future date so that I can travel with my projects. Can I put CS5.5 on another computer seeing as I couldn't deactivate the license on my dead laptop?

Call support to reset activations. no need to overthink or overcomplicate matters here...

  • Trouble Transferring iTunes Media/Library from Gateway to new Macbook

    Hi everyone,
I tried following the directions on Apple's site to consolidate my iTunes library, copy it to a flash drive and then transfer it to iTunes on a new MacBook I just purchased but I'm encountering an issue. After getting to the "Choose Library" option, I selected the library file I also copied to the flash drive and it will open up the 3300+ songs I had on the Gateway in the MacBook's iTunes. However, when I click on a song, I get the "!" beside each song and error message that iTunes can't locate the file and have to navigate to the direct location of that song (which has now been transferred to the iTunes>Music foler on the MacBook's HD)and the the song will play normally. I really don't want to have to do this for all 3300, so can anyone tell me where I went wrong in the transfer?
    Thanks!

I selected the file from the MacBook HD location, but when I was originally copying the folder/files from the Gateway, I opted not to copy the games, iPhone and movies folders. I only copied the "Music" folder and the individual files that were in the iTunes Media folder (I'm not at the MacBook right now so I can't provide the specific names) like the library file. I'll have to wait until I get home from work tonight and I'll be able to provide the exact names of what I transferred.

  • HT4889 Hi. I`ve just started transferring from my old Imac to a new Macbook, using the WIFI. But I realize it will take days to get it done. Can I cancel the process, and start over again using the thunderbolt port? Without causing any trouble?

Not possible, the current version of iTunes only allows syncing via iCloud which the 3G does not support.

  • Transferring Files from a PC to my new Macbook

    Hi Everyone,
I just bought a new Macbook and am waiting for it to be delivered. All I want to transfer from my old PC are my photos, videos and music files. I was using an external hard drive with my old PC, is it as easy as transferring those files I want from my PC to the external hard drive and then to the Macbook? I have been using that external hard drive to back up all the data on my PC already, will the fact that is was formatted for PC cause me any issue trying to transfer to the Macbook?
    Thanks,
    Ben

Well... it depends on the "format" that you used. By default, if you are using an external hard drive under Windows, it will usually format as NTFS. OS X "can" read from NTFS formatted drives, but it cannot write to NTFS drives without third party software (this is mostly due to licensing issues with Microsoft). An external drive formatted in FAT32 can be read and written to by both Windows and OS X (although FAT32 has a single file size limit of about 4GB). If you just want to read the data from your external drive, you're fine regardless of the format. If you want to be able to share the external drive between your PC and Mac (and write to the drive with both OSes), you'll need to go with FAT32 or use a 3rd party app that will let your Mac write to NTFS.

  • HT3224 I am new to Mac and started transferring data from my PC to my new Macbook Pro.  Connection was lost once I started and now my Pro is stuck on the 'Transferring Information' screen.  How do I get out of this screen to attempt the connection again?

II am new to Mac and was trying to transfer data from my PC to my new Macbook Pro.  The connection was lost however and now my Pro is stuck on the 'Transferring you nformation' screen.  How do I get out of this screen so I can attempt the connection again?  Is it safe to force shut down of my Mac and will it still prompt me through all the setup process again?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
If your Mac and PC are connected by Ethernet, unplug and plug that cable again. If not, you have to turn off the MacBook by holding the Power button.
In the next startup, try to transfer your files again. It's important not to interrupt the transfer process, because in most cases, you will stop it and you won't be able to resume it

  • How can I get the updates for Photoshop CS5 to download to my new Macbook Pro where I have already installed CS5 from my original disk? I have tried many times over 2 days. I was able to successfully download the current version of Adobe DNG converter.

How can I get updates for Photoshop CS5 to download to my new Mac book pro where CS5 is already installed from my original disk? I have tried many times over 2 days. I get the same error messages re downloading error. I successfully downloaded the current version of Adobe DNG Converter & it installed perfectly. Help please!

The Adobe auto updater is highly unreliable.
You need to look for and download the update yourself and then manually apply it as per the detailed instructions on the download page:

Please note that the Adobe Camera Raw plug-in must be updated separately, after you have updated Photoshop:

  • Can I still transfer my CS5 Photoshop license to my new laptop?

I'm sorry if this has been discussed. I can't find it with search terms.
I have CS5 and am satisfied with it for now. I would consider the cloud subscription if it weren't an annual commitment. Meantime, I have a new laptop and am wondering if Adobe will still allow me to use my keycode and move the software. Or will it be necessary to upgrade to the cloud? Thank you.
Incidentally, I read in the FAQs that I could download Bridge with the PS cloud version, but does that mean it is included in the subscription?

You are allowed 2 concurrent activations within any one platform with CS5.
So if you are "transferring" to a new laptop and it is the same platform as your previous installation (IE eithe PC or Mac) then you are fine. Remember to deactivate the old version of CS5 if you aren't going to use it an the old Laptop so you free up one of your activations for future use. You can deactivate from the help menu.
If you are changing platforms (IE from PC to Mac or Mac to PC) then you will need to contact Adobe about a platform transfer (I believe there is a small cost for this).
Good luck with your new laptop and Happy New year to you.
    Cheers
    John

  • I purchased photoshop cs5 for windows and want to install a license on my new MacBook Pro?

Is there a way that I can exchange my serial number for my third license for one that is compatible with Mac?

They have told it correct , you cannot have the windows and the mac serial number both , serial number of adobe are platform dependent hence you can have only one serial number either for mac or windows.
If you have bought Mac then you ask for a platform swap , wherein a new serial number and installtion media will be provided to you for mac but then your windows serial number will be cancelled and you will not be able to use it.

  • I am having trouble transferring an audiobook purchased through iTunes on my MacBook Pro to my iPad. Does anyone know how to do this?

I have an audibook that I purchased in iTunes on my MacBook Pro but cannot figure out how to sync it to my iPad. I would like to listen to the audibook on my iPad not MacBook Pro. Please help!!

Unfortunately, if you are using Safari on the iPad, you can't post a screen shot. You can with other browsers that will identify as a desktop browser, but not with Safari. Safari is so limited on the iPad and ironically, it is the worst browser that you can use on the Apple Support Communities help forum.
You can post a link to the screen shot if you use Photo Bucket or any cloud based photo site. In any event, if you don't see it in the More Tab, I don't know that the screen shot would help. It certainly wouldn't hurt though.
Are you sure that you selected the book to sync in iTunes?

  • Having trouble transferring library and playlists from PC to new iMac

I just purchased a new iMac and I have imported my music via a hard drive from my PC to the Mac.  I have the library and the playlists in the Mac but I do not have the play counts.  I would also like to sync my iPhone to the iMac library but it wants to erase all the data on my iPhone and replace it with the stuff from the iMac library.  Am I doing something wrong?  How can I get my library from the PC to the Mac correctly?  Any help would be great!  Thanks!

Your phone is telling me you ended up not really moving the old library but somehow created a new library.  An i-device can only sync with one library at a time and your phone is reacting as though it never saw this library.
iTunes: How to move [or copy] your music [library] to a new computer [or another drive] - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527 - a somewhat bewildering and not always easily understandable set of options.
Quick answer if you use iTunes' default preferences settings:  Copy the entire iTunes folder (and in doing so all its subfolders and files) intact to the other drive.  Open iTunes and immediately hold down the Option (alt) key (shift on Windows), then guide it to the new location of the iTunes Library.itl file in the moved iTunes folder.
For the record there's this reference for iTunes 11 but it really doesn't strike me as having the specifics you need. iTunes 11 for Mac: Move your library to another computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH12168

  • Having trouble transferring MP3 files from Windows 7 to Apple MacBook Pro

On my Windows 7 PC I have about 200GB of mp3 files sorted into different files to suit there genre, for example 80's Music, 90's Music etc. I am using a Western Digital hard drive to store this music on to then open on my Apple MacBook Pro when needed but when I try and open on my Apple MacBook Pro the folders will not open and seem to appear as a shortcut to something. Can anybody help me solve this problem? Thank you in advance

The first thing you need to think about is what files you want to transfer. Most people want to bring over information like:
    Photographs
    Music
    Movies
and MS Office (Word, Excel & PPT) documents.
If that is what you're looking for then you simply locate those files on your Vista box and drag them to an external HD. If you need help doing that visit your local Apple Store and they will be able to help you out. Another option is you are covered by 90 days of free telephone support on AppleCare, look in your owners manual for the phone number and call. Someone there should be able to get you going.

  • How to upgrade Lr3 & CS5 to be compatible with new Macbook Pro retina screen

I believe that Adobe has recently released upgrades to Lightroom and CS6 that make them compatible with the retina screen.   First of all, is this correct and secondly, if I have Lr3 and CS5, how do I upgrade?   I know it's a dumb question.
