Trouble transferring songs

Hey i have a problem transfering songs from itunes to my ipod. I have the latest version of itunes (12.1) and ipod 5, ios 8.13. whenever i attempt to manually add songs to my ipod, nothing happens. If i drag a single song under the ipod tab, it does its usual flash, but it never shows up on my ipod or recognizes a transfer through itunes. Is there an option in itunes i might've accidiently pressed that caused this? Im not sure how syncing is, but i dont want to because there are many songs i dont want on my ipod that i have on itunes.

wow.. im having the exact same problem.. like songs I have from CDs that I put on iTunes download perfectly fine.. I did everything possible and it still dosn't work.. if you figure it out let me know i have a post asking pretty much the same question. If you figure it out please tell me what you did. Thanks. • I'm having trouble transferring songs from Laptop to devices

I'm having trouble transferring songs from my laptop to both my iPad 2 and iPhone 5. I just added a new album to my library, and where before I used to select the songs I wanted to add to my devices, and then drag and drop them, this doesn't appear to work. I watched the tutorial and it says there is an 'Add to' option when you clkick on the device name in the top right hand corner. That doesn't appear on mine at all. Completely confused and nearing the end of my tether!

Make sure your device iOS is updated:

  • Having trouble transferring songs in iPod

I just got a new laptop and I also just downloaded iTunes... i have an iPod already with alot of songs on it
Im wondering if its possible for me to transfer the songs I already have to my new library... while keeping the songs on my iPod too.
    Thank you!

iPodRip has always been buggy for me - if you have songs with the same title but by different artists (e.g. "Angel" is a song title by both Aerosmith and Sarah McLachlan), and one is currently resident in iTunes, it will not import the other as it is falsely marked as already being in iTunes.
I'd go with Senuti or MusicRescue. Never tried Yamipod.
To the original poster: A program like Yamipod will only get your songs back into iTunes, since you've lost your original files. You still need iTunes itself to play the songs and for future transfers into your iPod.

  • Trouble transfering songs from itunes onto iphone

Hi, I got a used iphone off my friend and can't sync my songs/apps, etc from my itune library successfully (I had an ipod touch). When I plug it into my PC I get a pop-up on itunes asking if I want to 'transfer' or 'don't transfer' purchases. I don't want any of the songs from the ipod so I clicked 'don't transfer'. Then I go to 'file' and 'sync' and it says on the top info that it's syncing for a couple of seconds and then goes back to the apple logo. Do I need to authorise the computer through my friend's username and password? As far as I know he's still using the same details for his new upgrade iphone so I don't know if that would work?
    Cheers
    Grant

Just to start with a clean slate, you can Restore the iPhone using iTunes. Since you had an iPod Touch, you'll be given the option of using the backup of that device to set up the iPhone.

  • Trouble Transfering Songs

My computer crashed but I still have my songs on my ipod, so when i go into itunes on my other computer, how do I get my songs on that itunes account onto my ipod without deleting anything?

Connect your iPod to your computer. If it is set to update automatically you'll get a message that it is linked to a different library and asking if you want to link to this one and replace all your songs etc, press "Cancel". Pressing "Erase and Sync" will irretrievably remove all the songs from your iPod. When your iPod appears in the iTunes source list change the update setting to manual, that will let you use our iPod without the risk of accidentally erasing it:
    Using iPod with Multiple computers
Managing content manually on iPod and iPhone
    Syncing Music to iPod
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device: Safely Disconnect IPod
You can also use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7.3 or later installed hold down the Shift + Ctrl keys together. This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. This may take between 20 to 30 seconds depending on your computer. Once your iPod appears in iTunes you can change the setting: iTunes - Keyboard Shortcuts for Windows

Was the content purchased from iTunes?  If not, it will not transfer.

  • Transferring songs from hard drive to new iPod

Will I have trouble transferring my songs from an external hard drive to a new iPod classic.  If so, any solutions?

As long as you import these songs from the external hard drive to iTunes first, you shouldn't.  Just make sure your iPod is configured to sync all of these new tracks via its Summary and specifically Music configuration tabs in iTunes.

  • New laptop & trouble transferring itunes library

I am having trouble transferring the contents of my itunes library to the new computer. The songs are all in the library but there is a grey ! next to all songs that were not purchased by me. I have many that were put on there from my cd's or from my husbands itunes purchases. Is there a way to make them work? BTW I no longer have my original laptop as I deleted the library & gave it away before I tried to play a song.

  • I am having trouble with songs that will not play completely through.

I am having trouble with songs that will not finish playback. The songs play about 75% of the way and then stop mid-song. This is true for my PC and songs transferred to my iPod. I have redownloaded (and repaid) for one song to see if that helps, which it did. But that can become expensive as I am starting to find an increasing amount of songs that are haaving this problem.

Take it to a genius bar. It's probably something with the magnets.

  • Trouble transferring videos purchased in iTunes to video iPod

I found this to be a bit curious. I just purchased the White Stripes' "Hardest Button to Button" video in iTunes (along with 4 other music videos from other bands), and I was unable to transfer the file to my video iPod (the other four videos transferred without problem). The message said that it could not be played on this iPod. Is this a widespread or unique problem? I thought all videos purchased on iTunes were compatible with the video iPod, if not, is there a way to determine this before purchasing? Is there a way to solve this problem without purchasing additional software?

Unhelpful boilerplate response from the iTunes customer service team below. I have all of the updates (for iTunes & video iPod) and still no luck. I've even done the restore to factory settings thing, and also, no luck.
Has anybody else encountered this quirk (see my original question) and managed to work around it without purchasing any additional software?

  • Transfering songs from pc to mac problem

alright, well ive had trouble transfering all my music from my pc to my mac before...so tried it one more time and i still got the same problem but not as bad. I uploaded all the files to my ipod using disk mode...i open all the files up in itunes on my mac and it adds all the songs to my itunes library. It starts the process fairly fast then it haults on one song for a couple seconds that continues through the others, that song gets currupted and skips when i play it. its done this for a couple songs, and i dont have the time to listen to each song and re-upload the currupted songs. how can i transfer my songs succesfully

I had this problem also. I set my ipod up for disk mode. Then I hooked up my ipod to my windows machine (it must be formatted for windows) and transferred all the songs onto my now ipod hard drive. Then I plugged my ipod into my mac. It will ask you if you want to associate this ipod to this computer. Say no.
It should show up on your desktop as a hard drive. Pull the music off onto your desktop (make a folder for the music). This worked better than having iturns search for the music. Eject the hard drive and launch itunes. Have itunes look for the music on your desktop (add to library).
    Hope this works for you.

  • Trouble transferring Itunes

I put all of my itunes on one computer, I recently bought a new one and I am having trouble transferring all of my music from my old computer onto my new one. And everytime I try to sync my phone to my new computer it asks if I want to delete all of the current content. Home sharing isn't working either, the only songs that transferred were the ones I downloaded off of CD's.

There are several alternatives for transferring your iTunes library from one Mac to another.
Try here >  iTunes: How to move your music to a new computer
Are you using iCloud? I ask because calendars and contacts can no longer be synced using iTunes on v10.9 Mavericks. You must use iCloud.
iTunes 11 for Mac: Sync contacts, calendars, and other info with iPod, iPhone, or iPad   . If you use OS X Mavericks v.10.9 or later, your contacts, calendars, and other info are updated on your computers and iOS devices via iCloud. For more information, see iCloud Help at icloud.com.

    Hi asims01,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
The information below may be able to answer your questions about how to delete songs from your iPhone:
Deleting songs downloaded to your device
    Tap the Music app.
Tap More > Songs at the bottom.
Scroll or search for the song you would like to delete from your device.
Swipe right to left on the song, and then tap Delete.
Note: You must be in Artists, Songs, or Albums view to delete songs from your device. Deleting from a playlist won't remove a song from your iOS device.
Also, this information can be found on page 64 of the iPhone User Guide for iOS 7
    http://manuals.info.apple.com/MANUALS/1000/MA1565/en_US/iphone_user_guide.pdf
Remove a song from iPhone. Tap Songs, swipe the song, then tap Delete. The song is deleted from iPhone, but not from your iTunes library on your Mac or PC, or from iCloud.
If you have iOS 7, this will delete the song from local storage, but the song will still appear with a cloud symbol in the Music app, as you've noticed. To hide the iTunes in the Cloud purchases, navigate to Settings > iTunes & App Store, and disable "Show All: Music”
There may be a few orphaned songs on your iPhone that were partially downloaded or corrupted in some way. If that is the case, you can erase all of the music from your phone.  Follow the instructions below and select the Music app under Usage:
iPhone, iPad, and iPod: Understanding capacity

I hope this information helps ....

  • My newly transferred songs from my external hard drive to my ipod read as "Other" instead of "Audio" files

      Okay, i need help bad.
Here's the issue. This is my 2nd iPod classic. My first one, which worked beautifully for several years, died. the drive went bad. A sales associate at the Apple Store said it just crapped out (she didn't use those exact words) and my options were to send it out for a new 80G to replace the bad one at $120, or buy a new one, which yielded only one size and one choice for the classic ipod, the 160G. So i sucked it up and bought the 160G. I wanted the extra storage space anyway.
Came home, hooked it up, and new ipod required a newer version of itunes to mount and manage mp3's. it's not iTunes 10, required for sync with iPhone, but newer than what i currently had at hook up, which was some version of 8 or 9. it's now version 9.2.1, to be exact. After installation was complete, iPod mounted and worked with new version of iTunes just fine. Just recently, I connected my external hard drive to my laptop to transfer music i had backed up from my old classic and iTunes. The transfer seemed to work fine, but now with my pod still connected, the newly transfered audio mp3 files are not in my library. The are stored as "Other" under the iPod Summary tab, NOT AUDIO. so i cannot listen to those 14,000 or so songs and albums i just transfered. This is completely frustrating. Can anyone help?? Thanks. How do i convert these to Audio Mp3 files instead of "other" so i can listen and manage in my library, and so they show in the artists menu?? I have "Manually manage songs" checked in the Summary tab. I think it's storing or acting as an external hard drive. Someone help, i'm really ****** off right now. I spent a lot of time d*cking around transferring songs i can't even listen to or make playlists from now. Thanks a lot!

You maybe right, you transfer your 14k songs to your iPod under disk mode, so it don't appear as Audio.
To load your songs into Ipod Audio section, your must load them via iTunes, either Sync or Manually Manage your library, any other way, it just uses up space in the iPod Harddisk, and wont be on your iPod music menu.
    So
    1. Import your 14K songs into the iTunes library first. (read the iTunes help if you need instructions)
    2. You can either Manually manage selected songs from the library or Sync all.
You can delete the songs in the Other section, by going into diskmode, use Finder and delete the 14K songs.
    Good luck!
