Trouble trying to cut out small sections

When I try to cut out a section, large or small, it deletes the whole section to the right of the section I choose. It never did this before. Also, I have a rather long MP3 file, over 2 hours but it won't show anything after the 2000 mark.

very often necessary to cut artwork. Illustrator (unlike every other mainstream program) just can't do it, that's all. You have to resort to tediously cutting individual paths because Illustrator's Knife tool cannot cut across multiple open unfilled paths. (One of its most bizarre limitations.)
If you're lucky (or can live with some distortion of the remaining portions), you can do it with the poorly-implemented Eraser tool:
Get the Eraser tool. Start somewhere just beyond the upper-left bounds of the artwork you want to trim. Press and hold Alt. That will cause the Eraser to draw a rectangular marquee. Mousedown and drag rightward and downward, until the right side of the marquee aligns with where you want the left edge of the remaining artowrk to be. (In effect, "cover" the unwanted portions with the rectangular marquee.)
Similarly repeat that for the other three sides.
Open unfilled paths will be cut as well as filled paths. However, the shapes of some of the remaining portions may be altered somewhat.
Of course, it should go without saying to do this after having saved a copy of the entire map. Once it's gone, it's gone.

In Premiere 11, I am trying to cut out a 2 minute 'empty section'

I am doing a slideshow with video parts. Once I trimmed each of the photos and/or videos to the length I wanted, I ended up with a two minute 'empty gap' in the middle of my video. I want to cut it out so the front and end meet up. I tried to right click and then 'delete and remove gap' but it's grayed out. Alternatively, I can't seem to perform the 'cut the timeline' to cut the middle section either...nothing happens. Rendering doesn't do anything either. Can anyone give me foolproof steps cuz I'm obviously an idiot. I'm using Premiere Elements 11. Thanks!

As we await further details from you, I would ask "Have you selected the clips on one side as a group and then just used the mouse cursor to move the group over to meet up with the other half?"
a. You can draw a rectangle around the clips to select them. Once selected the mouse cursor can be used to move them as a group as long as they remain selected in the move.
b. If the Timeline contents tend to get messed up when you are moving clips around on the Timeline, hold down the Alt Key of the computer main keyboard as you move the clips to/around the Timeline.
As Hunt suggests, it sounds like you have content on the upper tracks which often prevent the use of Delete and Close Gap.

I want to cut out a section of a photo

I have a picture of my 1950 Studebaker Commander and I want to cut it out form the background and save to a file. I have tired using the crop tool, but it only lets me cut out in a square or rectangle shape. I know there has to be a way to do this!

As mike suggested, Photoshop Elements if very capable of doing what you want. Here's an example of that very thing.

TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.

I am trying to cut out an image with the pen tool and when i make a selection it selects the whole image and not the cut out. How do i stop this?

Sure. Drag the song into your Project from the Music Browser and drop it on the clip where you want it to start. It should appear as a ribbon underneath your video clips. You can then drag the left edge if the clip to the right, until it starts where you want it to.

Another way. Once you drag in the music clip, click the gear icon on the clip to open the clip trimmer. You can change where the clip starts there.

I am using a prerecorded series of songs as the background to a show. One song is a bit annoying at the end. Can I cut out that section and pull the next song over the suppressed area? I'm already in the Master Track and have already custom set the volume levels for each tune.

What's the easiest way to cut out about 20 seconds (in the middle) of a minute+ vid that i made on and downloaded from my iPhone 6

Hi - I'm a vid beginner, actually have a training session tomorrow at an App Store, but for now...what's the easiest way to cut out about 20 seconds (in the middle) of a minute plus vid that i made on and downloaded from my iPhone 6? I I'mported the clip to iPhoto on my new Macbook pro. The TRIM function in iPhoto seems only to want to let me cut from either end. I guess if I do cut out a section in the middle, maybe 'glueing' the sections back together is too much for iPhoto to handle (?). I spent about 10 minutes just trying to (unsuccessfully) import to iMovie, so that aint working either. Quicktime maybe? Thx for reading

Trim unwanted frames from a clip
1. In the timeline, select the range of frames you want to keep in the clip.
2. Control-click the clip, and choose Trim Selection from the shortcut menu.
The clip is trimmed to the boundaries of the selection.

My iphone is cutting out and then when the apple sign appears i have tried to restore it on my macbook and it come up with an error any suggestions as to what i can do?

its really weird my iphone just cut out yesterday and nothing was working hard reset anything left it on a docking station all night and this morning when i woke up the apple sign appeared, have tried doing a hard restore and to no success. It has now blacked out again any suggestions?

Most common origin.
1. Imported audio from iTunes.
• In iTunes copy out as an audio-CD .aiff
• Use this in Your movie project
2. Low - Free Space on Start-up/Boot/Internal/Mac OS Hard disk makes it hard for iMovie to work as intended.
Down to 1.3 GB and it doesn’t work - especially audio don’t migrate over to Media Browser

3. Material in iMovie’08 & 09 - Shared to Media Browser and here selected as Large
large.m4v. It silenced out this project in iDVD. By making a slight alteration - provocing it to ask for a new Share/Publish to Media Browser and here selecting 640x480 - and audio was back when a new iDVD project was created including this movie.

Had the same problem; some Googling around gave me a kludgy, but effective fix
Downgrade Perian from recent versions back to version 1.0.
That worked for me, and so far I haven't encountered any deficiencies—except it takes more advanced versions of Perian to enable QuickTime to handle subtitles in .srt format—that I have noticed.
7. GarageBand fix.
In this set audio to 44.1 kHz (Klaus1 suggestion)
(if this don’t work try 48 kHz - me guessing)
Before burning the DVD.
• Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
• Double click on the .img file
• Test it with Apple DVD-player
If it’s OK then make Your DVD.
Burn at x1 speed.... (or x4)
• In iDVD 08 - or - 09
• Burn from DiskImage with Apple’s Disk Utilities application
• OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it

I'm a drummer, when I got the 4s and tried to listen to music and drum to it the music would keep cutting out. It also happens when a door is slammed when I'm in the car.

I didn't have this issue with my previous apple products and it doesn't seem to happen to others with the 4s. Is there a known way to stop this?

I suggest trying the update again after an hour or two. Sometimes, the notice that an update is available comes an hour or two before the developers actually sends the revised app out to be downloaded.

I am editing an audio track and am trying to cut a section, but for some reason I can't get it to select. Whenever I click in the region I want to cut, a flex bar comes up but I can't actually select the region. Any tips on what else I can try?

On picture A, use one of the selection tools (e.g. selection brush, lasso tool, etc.) to select the object
Go to Edit menu>copy to place the object on the clipboard
Open picture B
Go to Edit menu>paste
Get the move tool out of the toolbox, and position the object and resize with the corner handles of the bounding box
