Trouble trying to use Adobe Lens Profile Downloader

Hi
Ive got a legal copy of Lightroom, downloaded & installed Air, downloaded and installed Adobe Lens Profile Downloader, got 2 Adobe accounts but cannot get either account to log in using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader, so I cannot even start to download lens profiles.
Any suggestions please?
Is there a place or way to download the profiles without using Adobe Lens Profile Downloader?
PS if I go to photoshop.com as indicated in Adobe Lens Profile Downloader, neither account logs me in even though Ive reset both passwords from photoshop.com, but both log me in on adobe.com, hence me being able to post here!

I am going to create some profiles since the profiles are not available for my camera. Once they are created on your computer you can upload them to the Adobe library using the downloader to share with the rest of the community. In other words the downloader will provide a means for you to manage your profiles on your computer those that you have and those that you don't have and those that you want to delete or replace. Note that there is a delete and submit button. I do not have any created yet to upload/submit but I would suspect that when you wanto to submit a profile you will be required to login. I tried this to submit a rating and comments and got the same message about not being able to login.

  • New releases: Adobe Lens Profile Creator v1.0.4 and Adobe Lens Profile Downloader v 1.0.1

Along with last night's ACR 7.2/LR4.2 release (see the Lightroom Journal blog here: http://blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/), the Adobe Lens Profile Creator and Adobe Lens Profile Downlader also got a refresh. They have now officially moved out of the Adobe Labs into the Adobe product download site. Here are the links to the new version:

I am also having problems trying to install Lens Profile Downloader 1.0.1. I receive the following error message:
This application cannot be installed because this installer has been mis-configured. Please contact the application author for assistance.
I updated to the latest version of Adobe Air, I uninstalled the previous (1.0) version of Lens Profile Downloader (dragged it to the trash and emptied the trash), and I rebooted my Mac. I have tried downloading the file and rebooting my Mac several times and get the same error message every time. Any other suggestions?

  • Lens Profiles for the Fuji X-E2 and the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader

I just picked up an Fujifilm X-E2 and an 18mm f/2 lens.  I noticed that LR 5.4 doesn't have a profile for this lens/body combination and I'm a little unclear whether it is applied automatically (as was the case with the X100s prior to 5.4), or not.
I also noticed that I can download profiles for the X-E1/18mm combination using the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader and wondered if this was a correct thing to do.
    Thank you,
    Robert

    A couple things:
    1)  ACR 8.4 will show if a built-in profile has been applied and what corrections have been applied, so if you want to post a raw file from your camera and lens combination someone with PS / ACR 8.4 can give feedback about what built-in profiles might be doing.
    2)  Regarding the X100S, using ACR 8.4 RC, for an example image I downloaded, the built-in profile corrected Chromatic Aberration and Vignetting.  The Adobe-supplied external profile corrected Vignetting and Geometric Distortion.  So the Adobe-supplied profile does additional Geometric Distoration compared with the built-in profile.  However, there was double-correction for Vignetting so one has to turn off the vignetting correction for the particular lens profile to avoid double-correction.  Here is a side-by-side example showing these corrections:
This double-correction of vignetting appears to be have been corrected in the final ACR 8.4 and presumably LR 5.4.

I have the same problem on Windows 7 Pro, its not about McIntosh, its probably an "Air-Error".
When I started Lens Profile Downloader, an Air update prompt popped up. So I updated Air to v3.3 if my memory serves, after which yet another Air update prompt appeared, this time to version 3.6. I installed that one too.  After which I found on Adobe web pages Lens Profile Downloader 1_0_1, but ONLY as an *.air file, no *.exe.
Ah well, why to go the simple way, lets develop our own "downloader" of a "kind 3000 and 7", and maintain it, just like every camera just have to have its own raw format.
With this *.air file and the Air 3.6 I also get this installation error:
I suppose we have to get an older air version, or just wait for the version 3.7 or something...

  • Adobe Lens Profile Downloader 1.0.1

Once I've downloaded the Lens Profile Downloader 1.0.1, I can't install it due to a wrong configured install program. Is there any solution how I can get the latest version of the lens profile downloader?

  • Lens profile downloader does not install profile into LR5

I am trying to install a lens profile for a Canon 400mm 5.6 L lens into LR5. I am using the lens profile downloader 1.0.1 this did install this lens profile to my LR 4 version. It appears to install this lens profile into LR5. However when I look in the lens profile area of LR5, the Canon 400mm 5.6 L profile does not show up. I am running win7 64 bit.

Do not copy your profiles to two different places.  User-created/downloaded profiles will be ignored in the Adobe-application locations and you don't need to duplicate the Adobe-supplied profiles under the Users folder.  This ignoring of user-supplied profiles in the Adobe app folders started some time during the LR4 series.
On Windows 7/8 the following folders are used:
Adobe-supplied lens profiles for Lightroom go under the LR-version\Resources folders:
    C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom X.X\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop Lightroom X.X\Resources\LensProfiles\1.0 (for 32-bit LR on a 64-bit system)
Adobe-supplied lens profiles for the Camera Raw plug-in used by PS and PSE and PRE go under a ProgramData location:
    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0
User-supplied profiles either created or downloaded go under the Users location and are seen by both Lightroom and the Camera Raw plug-in:
    C:\Users\yourusername\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\CameraRaw\LensProfiles\1.0\Downloaded
where the Downloaded folder seems to hold all the ones I have download for various camea makes and models, and I don't have to seperate them individually by camera manufacturer although it probably doesn't hurt if you have quite a few of them.

  • Error installing Adobe Lens Profile Dwonloader 1.0.1

    Hello,
I am trying to install version 1.0.1 of the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. However, every time I double click on the .air file everything goes fine right up until I click the continue button and it tries to install it. That is when I get the air mess that says "Sorry, an error has occurred. The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author." I have tried downloading the file several times and nothing. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Adobe Air and not go. Any suggestions?
    Thanks,

  • Adobe Lens Profile Creator not appending

I am using Adobe Lens Profile Creator v1.04 to make a lens correction file.
Following the instructions, I am trying to append the original file I created with more data from a new Focus Distance.
At Save, there is no option to Append the .lcp file
It worked, briefly, for a few iterations but now Append is no longer an option.
    Running on Windows 7 - 64bit

  • DXO Labs Slams Adobe Lens Profile Creator

    Pubicly.  Check it out here;

See: DXO Labs Slams Adobes Lens Corrections
This is what I responded the first and second response...
"says Cyrille de La Chesnais, Sales and Marketing Director - Photography at DxO Labs" Uh, ok...so I'm sure HE has an advanced degree IN MARKETING maybe...
The moment that a marketing guy starts talking smack is just about the time to quit listening...
I'm sure that DxO is SEETHING at the prospect that a bunch of users can go out and create profiles of their lenses for free...what does DxO cost?
It should also be noted that DxO is partially subsidized by the French military establishment (as far as I can recall).
Just as soon as Cyrille bothers to go out and actually USE Adobe Lens Profile Creator and can PROVE using acceptable scientific testing that there's an issue, I suggest Cyrille keeps his gums together...
    Then...
I've used both...I've created custom lens profiles using the Adobe Lens Profile Creator myself (and the effort, if done well is not inconsequential). I've not yet done a head to head comparison with my profile with DxO with the lens I profiled but I have closely studied the results of the Lens Correction panel in Camera Raw (in particular to write about how to do it in my book) with a variety of lenses and I gotta say, DxO does indeed have something to worry about because the profiles provided by Adobe are very good.
The lens profile I made for a Canon EF50mm F/1.2 lens is very good. I uploaded the profile I made to the Adobe Lens Profile server to share with the community (which suspect is the one thing that really galls DxO the most).
Really, let's hear from DxO's scientists not DxO's marketing guys...and let's hear from somebody who has DONE a profile using Adobe Lens Profile Creator and found severe limitations...
Oh, BTW, the guy mentions keeping the lens profile calibration target really, really flat (to profile the geometric distortion) as though that's some kind of super difficult task. Uh, no, I don't think so...Adobe suggests having the printed targets mounted on foam core and then put the mounted targets in a picture frame to keep it flat. I used a different method of mounting the targets to the front of 1/4 plate glass placed on an easel. That way I could mount multiple sized printed targets up to 36' x 48' in size.
I don't want to underestimate the amount of work involved in creating quality lens profiles. I shot a series of 5 F/stops with 3 focus distances using three different targets. Took about 5-6 hours (the first time) and that's in a studio space that's 26' x 53' with 12' ceilings with professional quality studio strobes and a photographer (me) who has 1/2 a clue what they are doing...I'm sure there will be a range in the quality of profiles for the lenses profiled by the "community". But here's the thing...that's to do lens profiles that can be automatically applied to masses of shots at once via presets or Camera Raw Defaults...but you can STILL go in and fine-tube the results from those profiles and use manual controls not only for distortion, CA and vignetting but also lens perspective correction...not sure you can even do that in DxO.
No, I'm sure DxO is trying to come up with some sort of attack/defense for their product's existence...at the moment, I suspect it sucks to be them, ya know?

  • Lens Profile Downloader question

I have downloaded the latest version of Adobe Lens Profile Downloader 1.0.1, and I have AIR installed (as required), but the downloader won't install. It gives the message "The application cannot be installed due to a certificate problem. ..."
What should I do to get it to install?
    Steve

Thanks for your response. I followed the link, and unfortunately the particular problem of failure to install wasn't solved there either.
I found another link for a similar certificate problem (involving installation of another Adobe product) and the advice was to uninstall Adobe Download Manager and reinstall the latest version. However when I went to the oOntrol Panel (Windows 7), there is no listing to indicate that Adobe Download Manger is installed.
It is all rather strange, as I have the earlier version of Lens Profile Downloader installed and it works fine (I am familiar with profiles and have created my own, which I have shared on the Adobe server).

  • Tokina 100mm 2.8 Nikon Adobe Lens Profile

I would just like to know where I can find the Adobe Lens Profile for this particular lens. I have searched the net and in the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader app but no luck. I can only see the Tokina 11-16 profile. I would be very grateful if someone could tell me where I can find this or if Adobe could take this as a request.

There currently isn't a profile available for download via the Adobe Lens Profile Downloader. You can create your own profile by downloading the Adobe Lens Profile Create from Adobe Labs.

  • Lighroom 5 lens profile downloader

I used the lens profile downloader to find a profile for a sony sal16105 lens.  I download it and it reports "installed".  Bur=t doesn't show up in lens correction panel and not in the lens prfile folder. I dont know the file name (except it's an lcp file) so can't search for it. Help.

The lens profiles are file type specific i.e  RAW files or rendered files like jpeg or tiff.
What file type are you working with? The majority of the lens profiles are for RAW files.

  • Lens profile downloader dead? Poor Adobe support and communications?

I wonder if any Adobe Support for the Lens Profile Downloader and user generated profiles has ended silently?
I did create a Profile and sent it to the email adress but never received any reaction by a sentient being and the Profile was not published in the downloader.
Does anyone know how to publish a profile these days?
Adobe itself seems abysmally slow in Publishing profiles for DSLR lenses these days, so the only Workaround is to do it on our own.
Did I miss  a message that said the lens Profile creator and downloader was abandoned?

You shouldn't have to go to the lens profile downloader. I checked the Canon folder on my computer, and the profile for that lens is there. I didn't check all of the different brands of cameras. What camera are you using?
