Trouble uninstalling GetPlus(r)

I recently installed Adobe 9 on a PC running Windows 2000 SP4. Whenever I start up the PC, I get a messagebox stating "Please close Internet Explorer before the uninstall can proceed". This messagebox also appears if I try to uninstall the program from the "add/remove program" interface. Please note that Internet Explorer is not running when I attempt to uninstall GetPlus(r).
Anyone come across this before and know of anything that I can try?

Don...when you get this error...do you go into the Task Manager and on the Processes tab make sure that ieexplorer.exe is NOT running? You may thing that it isn't but to be sure check it in the Task Manager CTRL + ALT + DELETE.
Good Luck!

  • Trouble uninstalling CSA

I'm having trouble uninstalling CSA off of one of my servers. When I uninstall I get errors (see attachments). I have tried to disable csa before I start the uninstall and have put it in test mode. Any other ideas or has anyone else ran into this?

I've never ran into a problem such as this. My suggestion to you would be a manual uninstall if installshield isn't working.
I found the following link describing for uninstalling 4.0. I believe it should be relatively the same all the way up to 5.2. The link is http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/sw/secursw/ps5057/products_tech_note09186a00801e598b.shtml#uninstall
I'm curious if this would be your solution, so please keep us updated!
    Thanks,

  • Trouble uninstalling quicktime

im trying to uninstall quicktime b/c my iTunes is messed up (i have to uninstall both iTunes and quicktime in order to fix the problem, according to other wall posts). When i try and uninstall this message comes up:
    Unhandled Exception
    error number: 0x80040707
description: DLL function call crashed: QTInstallCode.QuickTimeUnInstallProc
    Setup will now terminate.
    Please help!

I have exactly the same problem, i'm running a 32-bit version of Windows
right you are, iddymonkey ... if your 0x80040707 is referencing QTInstallCode.QuickTimeUnInstallProc (there's different possible texts you can get with different causes and potential treatments), let's proceed with the 32-bit procedures for that one.
    here's what we'll try first:
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility. then use it to clear any existing QuickTime installation configuration information from your PC:
Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility
next use the QuickTime component of the complete uninstall instructions in the following document as a guide to a manual removal of leftover QuickTime program files and folders.
Trouble installing iPod, iTunes, or QuickTime software in Windows
once we've got all the existing QuickTime scraped away, let's try a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
Quicktime 7.1 Installers … get the one that doesn’t mention itunes 6
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone reinstall, let us know what it says. include error message numbers if you're getting any.)

  • Trouble uninstalling iTunes 11 on Windows 7

I'm trying unsuccessfully to uninstall iTunes 11 from my PC laptop; I want to go back to iTunes 10.7 (for the cover flow, of course).
When I try to click "uninstall" in Control Panel, it says "Error opening installation log file. Verify that the specified log file location exists and that you can write to it."
I don't know what that means; I'm not super computer savvy so I don't know how to manually uninstall. Nor does iTunes come with its own uninstallation file.
More info: I just installed the new iTunes today. I made sure it isn't running (neither is Quicktime or any other Apple product). Please, someone help me.

I found this - but is it really this complicated?

  • Trouble uninstalling Adobe CS2 manually

    Hello,
I messed up a bit while uninstalling Adobe CS 2 (I accidentally uninstalled a few items manually before trying to use the uninstaller, which then failed to work and disappeared from the workspace).
Using the uninstall guide on the CD-rom, I worked through the steps and slowly uninstalled the individual components from the Applications, Utilities, Library and Users folders. Save one - Adobe Version Cue CS2 folder in the applications folder. When I drag it to the trash and hit empty, it says there are items in use.
When that failed, I followed instructions to remove Version Cue manually - removing the various preferences and plist and startupmaster to the trash before trying to remove the application. But I'm still getting the same 'applications in use' message.
I've double checked the list a couple of times, to make sure I didn't miss a step, but no use. The only thing I can think of is that at the very top of the uninstall guide, it says "DOuble-click Activity MOnitor.app in Applications / Utilities, select AHCRemind, and click Quit Process." I could not find AHCRemind in the Activity Monitor, and even after running a search I was unable to locate the item.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it! Thanks!

    Hi, C-H W.
Startup in Safe Mode. You should then be able to delete any remaining Version Cue components or empty the Trash if the components are already in the Trash.
I suspect Version Cue is being launched as either a Startup Item or a Login Item. For additional details, see my "Troubleshooting Startup and Login Items" FAQ.
    Good luck!

  • Trouble uninstalling - need to uninstall to fix - please help!

When I try to use itunes I get an error message saying some files are missing. I want to uninstall itunes and try reinstalling to fix the problem, but when I try to uninstall, the uninstall window opens and then does nothing - no hourglass, no movement on the progress bar, nothing.
    Q1. How can I uninstall?
Q2. Do I need to uninstall in order to properly reinstall itunes?

You may need to reinstall iTunes to get the uninstaller to function. A bit circuitous, but it should work.
Then try the steps in this post: Stepwise clean uninstallation of iTunes

  • Bringing an old version of CS5.1 from old mac to new mac with Mavericks, and it wont open. Having trouble uninstalling it.

Hey guys, so as I said, I have CS5.1 in the hard-drive of my old computer that I connected to my new one and I successfully brought it over. However, when I tried to open it, an alert came up saying "error 6". I talked with an support person and he recommended me uninstalling and re-installing it again, but when I tried that it said that there were errors and said to download the Adobe Creative Suite Cleaner tool, which I did, but it still not helping the situation.
This is kind of a specific predicament, feel free to ask any sort of questions, and I would love some help from anyone, thanks!

You need to upgrade to 10.6.8. The Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should still be available from Apple for $20. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list. The App Store which is required to download 10.7 or 10.8 is part of the 10.6.6 update.
If they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already up to $100 on Amazon.

  • Trouble uninstalling older version of Bonjour

Hello. I use Windows XP Pro. I was reinstalling Quicktime with Itunes and Itunes stops installing when it tries to download the latest Bonjour. It wants me to uninstall my previous version of Bonjour. I can't seem to get a previous version of Bonjour uninstalled so Itunes will download the new version. When I go to my control panel and then add/remove programs and click to remove Bonjour, the install wizard comes up for a second and then stops everytime. I wanted to try at least repairing it in this case and then uninstalling it but how can I do that? I tried removing Bonjour from my program files too and it comes up with a box saying: "Error deleting file or folder, cannot delete mdnsNSP:Access is denied. Make sure the disk is not full or write-protected and that the file is not currently in use." How do I get Bonjour out of my computer?
    Please help.
    Thank you.

I am having this same issue. I have been able to uninstall all Apple components including Qtime but this bonjour directory and contents are locked and not accessable. This all occured after an interupted installation of your latest rev iTunes software 7.6.2.9
    PLEASE PROVIDE SOME RESPONSE ASAP

  • Trouble uninstalling 8.1 in order to install new 8.1...

Add/Remove programs does not let me uninstall apparently corrupted 8.1...I get a window that says "This patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and that you can access it, or contact the applicaton vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer patch package"
When I go to the Adobe Website for manual instructions to remove programs the instructions tell me to go to Tools; Folder Options on Internet Explorer to locate hidden files, folders, etc. There is no such item in my Tools drop down.
I got into this mess while trying to print some .pdf files from my employer and in the process an option to access Adobe updates came up on the screen. I agreed to the updates and now I can't print any .pdf files.
I am using Windows XP, Intel Celeron Processor, two printers; an hp Officejet 4215 All-In-one, and a Lexmark X1185. The problem is not with the printers...they print .doc stuff just fine. When I tried to print todays .pdf files I got a window from Adobe Reader witht the message that it was 'Unable to start print job. Is printer available?'
I am stuck...I need to get the old version off so the new version can install and I just keep going around and around the same information with no way out. What are my options??? Please...

Does anybody have a solution for this issue? I've gone through Adobe hell and cannot find a solution. I've removed every possible Acrobat key I can find in the registry. When I first attempt to install the installation cannot find AcroPro.MSI. I ran a search and found the fileC:\Documents and Settings\jgt\Local Settings\Temp\Adobe Acrobat 8\AcroPro.msi. I then pasted this into the installation window, then I get a windows installer message "This patch package could not be opned. Verify that the patch package exist and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Window Installer patch package." Being that this is code from Adobe I'm confused as to what action to take next.

  • Trouble uninstalling Boot Camp

A few weeks ago, I installed Boot Camp which partitioned my drive accordingly.
I then tried to follow the steps I derived from 2 different forums to create a Windows XP boot disk from my Virtual PC disks.
I could not get this to work, so I never installed Windows.
Since then, I decided to use Parallels instead of Boot Camp. I bit the bullet and purchased both Parallels and Windows (XP Pro w/SP2 on OEM disks for $135.)
Now I'm trying to uninstall Boot Camp and running into a problem, I think.
I opened Boot Camp Assistant and selected "Restore" to remove the Windows partition and restore my hard drive to a single-partition Mac OS X volume.
I then see a swirling blue & white "peppermint" stick a cross the bottom below a line that reads: "Status: Partitioning disk...."
All seems right, except that this lasted for 20 hours with no change.
Every few hours, when I'd notice it still "running" I'd check the "Force Quit Applications" window, expecting to see Boot Camp Assistant listed as "Not Responding." Not so...seems to be an app running normally. So I thought, 'maybe it really does take this long,' and I let it go.
Checking back this morning, still no change, checked out a few forums, and I don't see this issue mentioned anywhere. In fact, one contributer made a comment to the effect that he was "surprised how quickly Boot Camp Assistant performed this task" (I wonder if he was being sarcastic? Hmmm)
So I decided to quit out of BC Assistant, relaunched the program, and selected "Restore" again. I now have my horizontal blue and white swirling "barber pole" back (what is that called?), the Status is "partitioning disk", and I'm wonder how long this is supposed to take.
Can anybody help me with this?

The restore should not take long. You've definitely got something amiss. Use Utilities>DiskUtility to look at your hard drive. How many volumes are shown, and what are they labeled?

  • Ok im having trouble uninstalling/upgrading to BC 3.1

ok guys im on a Macbook pro 2.26, 4 gigs of ram and 500 gig hdd. Win 7 and Snow Leopard.
Been running win7 32 bit with 3.0 for a while now. but every time i try to install 3.1 it never works. Comes up as 3.0 still and when i go to "uninstall or re install it says there is a problem and exits. so i can not uninstall 3.0. has this happened to anyone else? I would really like to get 3.1 in there without re-installing windows.. Any help is appreciated.
    Jason

I'll reply here as well, just in case. Judging by the "fatal error" message on the uninstall that you mention over there, that one is probably mucked-up installation configuration information for your existing 3.0.
Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from Microsoft:
    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up".) In the list of programs that shows up in CleanUp, select the BootCamp 3.0 entry and click "Remove".
Quit out of CleanUp, reinstall BootCamp 3.0 then try another 3.1 install. Does it go through properly this time?

  • Having trouble uninstalling CS3 trial

I downloaded a trial of CS3 a few years ago and i'm trying to uninstall it. When I try to I get an error message that says "Setup is not properly installed. Please re-install". How can I fix this?

    How can I fix this?
Probably not at all, especially if you have newer versions of Adobe tools on the system. These are version conflicts in the installer database. Short of uninstalling everything, cleaning out CS3 and then reinstalling whatever is your current version I see no way to resolve this. Even if it would work right off the bat, it would mess with file associations and a few otehr things for newer versions, so it's not the best way to deal with teh problem in teh first place...
